We have had fairly good responses from CHOICE Warranty office. However, our last claim wish there was the garage door not working has been a disaster. It has been almost 3 weeks since the guy arrived and fixed it up. It worked for two or three days and then went on the blank. We are still waiting for someone to come and finish the job where you have to get out of the car every time we want to go in the garage and open and close the door it’s not easy for me. I’m only 5 foot tall. The service has been appalling today. When I called to ask why we had been put back to September 2, I was told because the guy had decided to take some days off just totally inefficient and unsatisfactory.

Well, I did appreciate the fact that I could get a call back since the wait time to talk to somebody was over 20 minutes so that was nice. However, the person I did talk to I could barely understand so I’m assuming they’re offshore somewhere and then I was told I waited too long to submit the problem and I had to pay for it all again, although it is the exact same issue letter for the same but yet I gotta pay again because I went on the date all in all I like the service will keep it. It’s helped us. This was a bad interaction. It doesn’t show well for the company.

I choose Choice because it was a better monthly. Biggest mistake!!! Choice home warranty SUCKS. I had a water leak and the plumber wasn't allowed to take the mirror off the wall to fix the leak. Instead they wanted a restoration company to bill my homeowners insurance. A guy I meet came over and fixed the leak. Within 15 mins he was in and out still isn't leaking. Now here is the Choice home warranty fraud. My AC Stopped working in late May I believe. Choice sent a guy out. I paid. The AC worked. In three weeks it quit working again. Another $100 for the next guy they sent out. Thursday July 2. He said the ac was wire wrong

I chose ( unwisely) this company because of their advertising which I found out when I really needed them that it was ALL A LIE. when something needed repaired, they were par with this industry. Their claim that they'll replace the appliance if it can't be repaired is nothing but BS. They don't. They will offer a gift card or check for just about HALF OF WHAT IT COSTS TO REPLACE. You're responsible for the rest. My washer went out. I called. It needed replaced. They offered me $406. The TOTAL COST TO ME was $ 789! When I called to dispute I was told basically that I was the one that didn't know how to interpret their advertising. I'm not stupid. I interpreted the way any logical person would interpret their advertising. I also pointed out this and was pretty much laughed at. My contract is up with them in October and I CAN'T WAIT!

Lately the service has been bad. I had a hot water tank that burst- didn’t get a call back for 5 days - got my own plumber and Choice gave me nothing. Spent over $2,000. That is unacceptable/ can’t have a burst tank for that long. Prior to that a plumber from choice came to fix pipe for dishwasher- he took apart my sink and said he could only do it if I paid him $150 more. Again unacceptable

I was impressed with CHW when I signed on several years ago. I didn’t have many claims, but when I did, the work was done quickly and pricing was fair. However, I feel that during the busy summer season in FL, they do not have enough service companies signed on that will take their work. My last request for a troublesome water heater repair was going to take several days to just send someone to look at it. I ended up paying for a repairman out of pocket at his regular rate which was hundreds more than the CHW rate. But I couldn’t have my renters taking cold showers for 4 days.

I had an issue with my air conditioner unit. I gave the claims rep the brand and model of my unit. The HVAC person they sent didn't know how to work on that brand, and he called it a "Fancy thermostat." He told me I needed to contact Choice, give them the brand name (again), and ask them to send someone more experienced to work on the top-of-the-line TRANE system. The next day, I received a call from a 2nd service person telling me he was en route to my house. I asked him if he knew how to work on a TRANE system, and he said, "No." After that, I contacted a service person on my own, whom I also had to pay. My issue was 2-fold. (1) I was charged a $100.00 deductible, and (2) I didn't get service. A representative told me they wouldn't credit my account or reimburse me the $100. Even though they never sent the correct service person out. That is NOT a company I want to renew with. This is my first year with Choice and my last. 1st impressions are lasting impressions.

We had one claim for a washer, and that company was outstanding. In every way, we have another claim. Now that's probably nearing our thirty day time limit that we have been in contact with Choice multiple times and we're not getting any responses, it's a plumbing issue that they did not have access to, but we've told them now we've created the access , and we need the plumbing pipe fixed. But still , we're not hearing back from Choice or the plumber , I don't know what it's gonna take to get this finished.

I mean they started to fix problems in the beginning but then they denied one of my claims because I put that the last working date of my water heater was the day we closed, which is true. When we officially moved in we didn’t have hot water. Then fast forward they wouldn’t cover a new water heater till the current one failed, and that I’d have to replace several parts out of pocket before they’d replace the whole system. Not trying to sit around waiting for the thing to die.

But I currently am in limbo because I’m waiting now three weeks to hear back regarding my Garage door. When I reached out to choice I was told that I was responsible for contacting the vendor which I had already done. I have already spoken to him directly and I still did not received service.

The recent refrigerator repair took close to 30 days to complete. 1st, the tech arrives, not to repair, but to access the need. 2nd, parts need ordering - wait time. 3rd, tech comes, replaces part, frig doesn' t cool. 4th, reaccess frig, 5th, order part, set another schedule to come install. Frig works now, about 30 days into it. Tenant lost food in the process

I had a sewer issue, which was supposed to be covered, but CHW only paid for half. My sewer backed up on a Wednesday and CHW did not get a technician to my house. On Saturday, they told me to get my own repairman. I went 4 days without water. Roto-rooter came to the house on Saturday and fixed the problem (soft blockage). I was charged a higher rate because it was on a Saturday.

I wanted a plan in place incase something went wrong with my appliances. They were great up until recently. I paid for the extra warranty to cover my Air Conditioner. The extra money I paid for the warranty was useless. I still came out of pocket almost $4000 for the new parts. If anybody was thinking about getting them make sure you read the fine print in the contract.

No urgency with maintenance requests. I had a refrigerator replaced and found out they only give you wholesale value replacement cost which is not equivalent to retail. I was required to purchase at the store, pay tax and was responsible for delivery and set up. I was also responsible for disposal of the old unit.

This is about the 4th solicited review by Choice Home Warranty. This company should be avoided. They are very slow to line up needed technician's ( took 48 hours on the last claim), their contractors DON’t like working for Choice Home Warranty as they are not properly paid and routinely bad mouth CHW. The coverage is not good. A routine hot water heater replacement cost me $1150. Even with exclusions listed on their contract it should not have cost me so much. A complaint has been filed with the state department of insurance after a unsuccessful call to the CHW case manager. I would definitely avoid them and instead put money aside in an account for home repair issues.

They sent out service repair people that were not qualified to do the work. I have had to call someone else in to my home to correct the mistakes that were made and of course, had to pay them on top of the fee I had already paid to Choice. They advertise that they will take care of repairs in a short period of time and they indicate the repair will be totally covered. I had to replace my refrigerator that cost $2500.00. It took forever to get approval to buy another one. With all the hassle involved, I received a check for $300.00. There are other times I went through this same process and ended up with a very small check. I would not recommend this company. Their advertising is false.

The technician that came out was very respectful and helpful. However, communication was not very good between CW and the vendor. Four days after the technician came out there is no progress on my claim and the temperature is rising next week.

I have had this service for almost a year and have been disappointed. I took out the warranty to help me deal with home things on my own. My first claim was on our furance. The tech came said it was fixed only to have it do the same thing right before a holiday and no response from the tech. My 2nd experience was on a water softner, only to be told they do not really cover eatersofteners. However the sales man did get us a $350.00 check but that no where covers a new softener. Next is a refridgerator, The tech came while the ice makeer is making ice it is not dispensing. Once again you cannot get ahold of any tech to come back out to finish fixing it. Then last the dishwasher. Service came after bad communication on time. Not here but 20 mintues or so. The warranty company denied the claim. The tech charged my for the whole service fee not just my contracted amount. I did argue but when 2 men are standing in your kitchen, I was not sure what to do. I paid and now am goign to fight witht eh warranty company. To say my experience has been great is a no.

My issues at this time are with the technician that came to my house, and CHW's response. I submitted a review of the service provider, but after giving this experience some more thought, I should have been clearer about how things went. The man was nice, appearing respectful. However, as soon as he walked in the door, he wanted me to pay him the service call fee. That was off-putting. He then went on to tell me that my system was too dirty to do anything, and that he had to inform CHW and get the response before he could do more. I looked up this guy's business, which is operated out of his house. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I now see that all he planned to do was get the fee and do nothing else to help me. His assessment was based on the filter in my furnace. He didn't show me anything else that supported his inspection. He also didn't leave my situation the way he found it, although he claimed he did. I gave him a new filter, but all he did was pull the previous one out and left it out. He put the panel back, and left the furnace off. The air conditioner was giving a little relief, but once he turned it off, nothing. I trusted that he left things the way he found them, but I didn't know until the next day that he didn't. This past week has had heat indices over 100 degrees, so after CHW denied any further assistance to me and my 81-year-old aunt who lives with me, I had no choice but to find and pay for help elsewhere. I understand that system and appliances have to be maintained and kept clean to meet CHW's criteria for replacement, but I was offered no more direction, instruction or help from CHW to get my problem resolved.

The technicians were great! Choice Home Warranty (CHW), however, is a shell game that spends a lot of effort to come up with ways not to pay while renewing your contract without notification. Starting in February I received several phone calls and emails advising me to contact them before my contract expires to avoid losing the coverage. I had no desire to renew it so I chose not to make contract and allow it to expire. Then low and behold a review of my bank account showed they had upped my monthly charge and continued my contract. Seeing that, I figured if I'm being billed, I might as well put it to use only to find out they also upped my service call fee by $25 per appliance. I left American Home Shield (AHA) a couple of years ago because they did not have many technicians that service my area. However, when I did need them, I was only charged a single service charge regardless of how many appliances the technician came to work on. It cost $300 for the CHW technician to service three appliances whereas it would have only been $100 with AHS. I had a total of 4 items serviced, the LG Technician dealt with my dishwasher. Once I explained the issue and provided him with the model number, he ordered the parts he would need then showed up and fixed the issues without needing a return trip. Strongly recommend him in the future. The GUMRUS LLC Technician made the effort to change his schedule to accommodate mine. He then came in and spent time diagnosing the issue(s) with each appliance, fixing what he could then move on to the next. The cooktop and dryer both required for him to order parts, so we'll see how long those take to come in. However, I found him to be professional and efficient. CHW denied replacing the collars on the dials of the stove top, claiming it was normal wear which is not covered in the contract that caused their issues. The clips that hold them in place have broken off, so that is technically the failure of a part just as much as the igniter, which by the way gets much more use than a stationary collar, failing to spark. This is not the only time they used the "normal wear" clause to deny a claim. After this series of repairs are completed I'll be looking for a new home warranty provider

I have paid for this home warranty for over 2 years, now. I have rarely put in a claim. I just recently did put in a claim for my Stove Top (built in the island). The technician said he would be back as soon as the part arrived. Then I get notification that it is not covered. I have 4 burners, one is just fine, one I have to start with a lighter, one I have have to turn to "ignite" then down to low and back to ignite and then it works. The fourth one doesn't work at all. The gas line has pulled away and gas does not reach that burner. This just happened and was nothing that we did to it. I still had to pay for this visit (copay) even though you didn't allow the technician to complete. Also, when I FIRST signed up, the sales guy said that Choice Home Warranty offers a visit for heat ducts, electrical and plumbing inspection to make sure all is working properly. No one ever showed up to do this and when I asked again, they said you do not offer this benefit. To say the least, we are very disappointed and my husband wants me to call American Shield because several friends use them with no problems.

Then our dish washer was having issues and we were told it could not be fixed due to its age and you sent us a check for 400.00 to purchase a new one. Then our washer started having issues and we were told it could not be fixed because of age and thats when we started having problems with you. Had to wait over 2 months in the dead of winter with no heat in sub freezing weather to wait for them to send several different service people who couldn’t fix my tankless hot water heating unit. I found my own plumber to work on it and after 3 weeks of trying to get my plumber to deal with Choice to help them with upload there photos and diagnosis, choice declined to pay claiming it wasn’t regular wear and tear of the system. Practically 3 months without heat only to be declined the claim while we sat in one room with a space heater and still and to pay out of pocket to get it fixed. It took almost (2) wks today for a plumber to try to fix the leak after assessment and authorization of part from Choice. This whole time my bill is running high due to the leak. We paid $225 plus $75 service fee to Ark, but the leak is still there, I'm very disappointed. I contacted Ark Plumbing about it after (7) hrs, but still no response. I really need this problem to be solved asap. Your prompt attention to this matter is much appreciated. Thank you

I bought a one year contract with Choice Home Warranty and only had to use them one time. When I called for service on the one item, they told me to find my own repair company and then go through a bunch of folderal of me paying the bill and then getting reimbursed and this that and the other. So I just called my own repair company and got the work done quickly and reasonably instead of using Choice Home Warranty which I found to be somewhere between useless and a waste of time. Due to my experience I probably won't be renewing with them again as they apparently didn't care about me in the slightest.
