We have been happy with the survey until recently. When issues have arised with the heat pump and hot water tank, it seems like you do not want to pay. You either keep delaying the appointments until we just cancel it and replace the item ourselves or you find some issue and state that we did not maintain the unit, even though we had a company come to maintain the unit. Choice Home Warranty (CHW) asked me for a review. So, here it is. In my opinion, CHW has denied covering a claim too many times. It doesn’t make sense to me to pay hundreds of dollars for the warranty per year, pay the $75 service appointment fee, then have to pay hundreds of dollars for the repair because CHW would not cover it. They use erroneous reasons not to cover claims. One recent example is, “It’s not due to normal wear and tear”. I don’t know how else a drain pipe under my 40+ year old house would get a crack in it. I certainly (as a disabled senior) did not crawl under my house and break it. So, I had to pay the $75 service fee for them to tell me I had to pay the plumber myself. Another example is an appliance was too expensive to repair (apparently) and CHW said it needed to be replaced instead. However, they did not replace it. They gave me “cash in lieu” and told me I had to replace it myself. However, the cash in lieu was about 1/4 of the actual cost of replacing the appliance. Again, why am I paying for a warranty when I can take that money, plus the $75 service fee, and put it towards replacing the appliance and save money in the process. When my warranty with CHW expires, I will not be renewing it and will just set that money aside to pay for the repairs/replacements myself. And save $75 (and a lot of headaches) in the process.

Doesn't seem to be a lot of flexibility with reimbursement claims when the home owner get the problem fixed. with out going through the proper channels. I know there have to be policies, just thinking a bit more consideration would be great.

Whoever initially reviews the4 claims do not do their due diligence when reviewing claims. They are denied because whoever reviews the request does not read the entire claim. When calling and finally getting an individual they advise that a review would be done after rebutting the disapproval then getting a response that is nonsensical. I have no alternative but to continue to use this company because I paid until 2029. That was a mistake.

The messaging to me about my service was so delayed. I didn’t even get a notice a tech was assigned until I saw the temporary hold voided on my card which prompted me to go onto my account and see the appointment. Then had the tech not personally texted me I wouldn’t have known his timing at all. The email saying your tech is on the way happened after he left.

I have only filed one claim. They found their approved service company and sent out an AC technician. Within 5 minutes he found the problem. t was a broken wire. After the wire was reattached the system came on right away. So far, I am pleased with the service the warranty covered.

The two different contractors were excellent. My issue is that two different contractors have told me what the issue is and both times the claim was denied for what is actually needed. It’s a covered component but Choice Warranty wants them to “try” other repairs before approving what is actually needed. It has cost me two separate services charges and possibly a third if this repair attempt doesn’t work out. I paid my money up front for coverage. Choice Warranty should replace the part recommended and needed according to their contractors.

There is absolutely no communication between the warranty company, the maintenance company and the customer. You are left to figure out the next steps on your own. We had the first maintenance guy come in in February, they supposedly fired him, sent another guy 2 weeks later to do the same thing the first guy confirmed was the problem and it is now April and we are still waiting for someone to finish the job that was approved to be fixed and finished in February. I have been without a working bathroom for 3 months now. Worst company experience I’ve ever had to deal with!! I do not recommend!!

I didn't have much information on choosing a Home Warranty Company. Choice has limited companies in my area to work with. First company came and gave a quote for a new HVAC unit, out of pocket just over $4,200 out of pocket, In less then 12 hours Choice would not provide them with the equipment and were looking for a new company. New company came and gave another estimate. $6,700 out of pocket with Choice providing the equipment AND I had to appeal because for the second approval, they wanted work done that they didn't feel needed to be done with the first estimate. We had the second comapny do the work and were happy with the company, but for the frustration and an extra $2,500, we could have had the work done on our own for about the same. Everyone gives different answers for every question you have, service fee was $75 when I joined and never told of an increase, $100 now. Case Manager was the only one worth working with, but for the costs, We would have been better with a home warranty.

I’m NOT satisfied with this warranty. I have a refrigerator ice maker that has an air leak that constantly melts my ice and then freezes up my ice maker. Drives everyone crazy! This has been going on for a good while now and Choice Warranty will NOT fix the problem!! Do you people forget that your best advertising are your customers? I’m going to cancel this policy because of this issue! I am upset because I need a refrigerator that works properly! I do not recommend Choice Warranty!

The people came out to do repairs on my garage door opener and door and said I need work on my springs and other stuff but said I wasn’t covered by my coverage does cover these repairs. Also a sears technician came out to work on my mini split in the garage and said he doesn’t work on those and then charged me $75 to tell me I needed to replace my filter on n my HVAC system.

Read the fine print! It is not a “warranty “ if you must pay a percentage of the product and the installation cost. That isn’t even insurance. You want me to pay over $1700 to fix my A/C. That is not doable in my world.

If I could go into the negative range, I would push those stars. I bought a six year VIP insurance policy. Began to have trouble with my AC unit in the upper floor sometime ago and didn’t get a very quick response to someone coming out. When that company sent someone out at Choice’s instruction , the verdict was that it needed a leak test. If it hadn’t been been for myself and my son both calling numerous times I’m not sure we would’ve even gotten the test. Now that it has been done and the unit is not fixable, we are being told that Choice has to order a new machine, but that Choice is not paying promptly for units to be sent out to those who need them. Ones ordered last fall still have not been fought by Choice and sent so that they can be installed. Obviously, I am not happy. If I’m amazed at anything, it’s that company that had such a good writing has gone downhill so quickly.

I am a little disappointed that I paid $75 for a technician to come out and fix our air conditioner only to find out that the warranty doesn’t cover anything. As a new homeowner and client of choice home warranty, I expected at the very least coverage on the maintenance that keeps appliances running properly. I ended up paying out of pocket to have the unit fixed. I do like that It is easy to make a claim on the website but that hardly makes up for what we had to pay already and it does not seem to be worth the money.

The policy worked well for us, and the technicians were assigned in a timely manner during the first year of our policy, which was included with the purchase of our home five years ago. After that first year, we decided to continue the coverage and get a longer service contract. The quality of service has declined since then and the wait time for technicians to be assigned has increased. I am currently almost 2 weeks waiting for someone to fix or diagnose the problem with my water heater.

If the repair is a simple appliance like washer, dryer or dishwasher, I haven’t had too many issues. I have had issues getting a tech for my AC and garage door opener. Many techs won’t work with a warranty company or don’t want to just do the quick fix. I have had to wait a long time while they try to find a part before replacing the device.

The first scheduled tech never arrived. Had to message Choice a few times to get a replacement company. The new tech diagnosed the issue quickly; washing machine unit needed replacing. Choice would send eLowes card for replacement amount. Took a month before funds were disburse. If I was banking on those funds to purchase replacement, I would have been without for a full month or longer.

Choice automatically schedules a day and time without consulting the client (me), so regardless of work schedule of family responsibility the schedule is preset. Washer started leaking water from one of the main components went to website and filed a claim with hours I was assigned a LG tech who contacted me and asked if I could send a photo said they had to order the part and would contact me when they would be out to fix it. Took a couple days and the tech contacted and fixed the problem. Great Job!
