An Industry Ripe for Positive Change

Best Company emerged from a passion project of its founders. In 2011, the founders heard a number of companies complain that various review sites kept strong-arming them into paying higher fees to achieve a certain score on their sites. Many of those review sites also allowed paying companies to manipulate or suppress their negative customer reviews. Appalled at what this meant for consumers who were trying to make a confident purchasing decision, as well as for the companies that were trying to do business the right way, the founders investigated the review site industry further.

It didn't take long to discover that these coercive and unethical tactics were standard practice for review sites. Seeing an industry ripe for positive change, the founders launched BestCompany.com — a consumer review site powered by real customer reviews.

On BestCompany.com, you will never have to wonder or speculate why a company is ranked the way it is. The ranking algorithm by which we score and rank companies is 100% transparent and, most importantly, 100% based off consumer reviews.

Frequently companies will offer us large sums of money in exchange for removing their unwanted negative reviews from BestCompany.com. Frankly, we enjoy the opportunity we have to refuse these offers, as it provides us an opportunity to both share and stand by an important aspect of our company's mission — to empower businesses to honestly earn the trust of consumers.

Because 100% of a company's overall score and ranking on BestCompany.com are calculated from its consumers' reviews, ensuring that all reviews published on BestCompany.com are authentic is our top priority. Each and every one of the thousands of reviews submitted on BestCompany.com each month is moderated by a member of our Review Integrity Team. These team members go through a 7-point check with each review to ensure they are real and authentic. Many reviews don't make the cut. In fact, over 20% of reviews submitted on BestCompany.com are rejected during the moderation process.
