National Debt Relief is one of the largest debt settlement companies in the nation. Its goal is to help clients re-establish financial stability and peace of mind in the least amount of time possible.
The company works hard to provide experience and proven results through education and individual customer care.
National Debt Relief wants individuals to achieve freedom from financial debt by receiving debt reduction services and financial consultations so that they will stop drowning in debt and will continue to live debt-free.
The company has quite the record of settling debts between 30 to 50 percent less than what its clients owe. Many debt management customers frequently complain about always speaking to a different person every time they call in, causing some friction in the customer experience. Additionally, fees are relatively low but have the potential to be higher than the industry average.
Positive National Debt Relief reviews indicate that NDR has a low cost (18-25 percent), one of the reasons some customers love the company. National Debt Relief charges from 18 to 25 percent of the customer's total enrolled debt; the company works with all unsecured debt and some cases of secured debt.
If a customer enrolls $100,000 of debt in NDR's debt settlement program, the company can generally cut the debt by 50 percent, making your debt $50,000 instead of $100,000. If you add on the 18 to 25 percent cost for NDR's debt settlement services, you'll end up paying between $68,000 and $75,000.
Customers should be aware that cost is difficult to forecast because of the variables of each individual financial situation. To accurately measure cost, company employees must take into account the determination of creditors, the customer's credit score, and the amount of debt.
Approximate cost is usually determined in a free, no-obligation consultation with a debt expert. By law, no debt settlement company can charge upfront fees. Instead, payment isn't required until after debt is settled. Most companies allow a monthly payment plan, as is the case with National Debt Relief.
National Debt Relief offers great features including:
Past clients of National Debt Relief have indicated that they appreciate the transparency offered by the company, the speed of debt resolution, reasonable costs, and professional level of support. Additionally, some reviews from former National Debt Relief customers who had canceled their service mentioned receiving unexpected refunds.
But how exactly does the National Debt Relief program work? The debt settlement program or settlement process is three-way; it involves the debtor (you), the settlement company, and the creditors. With NDR, customers can expect to settle any type of unsecured debt (student loan debt, medical debt, credit card debt, etc.). Unsecured debt is debt that does not have any property attached to it as collateral (such as home loan debt or car loan debt).
It is important for customers to carefully monitor their credit score and credit report. Note that the nature of debt settlement will involve moderate to heavy penalties on your credit score. Many debt settlement companies, including National Debt Relief, do not provide credit repair or credit monitoring services.
The challenge for the settlement company is to weigh the debtors present and future financial situation against the patience and requirements of the creditors. The fact that NDR is generally providing quality customer service while navigating the testy relationship between the creditors and debtors is significant.
Those with credit card debt, medical debt, and unsecured loan debt will find that NDR understands how to get ahead of creditors.
There are two debt solutions in the debt relief industry: debt settlement and debt consolidation. If National Debt Relief discovers that its debt settlement services aren't right for you, NDR will refer you to Liberty Lending for a debt consolidation loan.
The difference between a good debt settlement program and debt consolidation loans is that debt consolidation loans will weigh less heavily on your credit report while debt settlement will aim to settle your debts at a fraction of the total debt amount (sometimes as low as 30 percent of your total enrolled debt).
For debt consolidation, the company puts all of your debts into one monthly payment and tries to negotiate lower interest rates with debtors, making it easier for you to track and pay your fees.
However, some people are in too much debt to use debt consolidation programs; this is the reason for debt settlement plans.
The debt settlement fees from National Debt Relief (at 25 percent) are slightly higher than normal in the industry, but if the National Debt Relief program can get your fees down below 18 percent (a low among industry fees), you should consider using its debt settlement services.
In your search for the right debt management company, be sure to give lower fees a high priority. However, it is important to take into account how much NDR can lower the total debt from your creditors.
Creditors have been known to settle with debt settlement companies for around 30 percent of the total debt amount. To figure out how much this will cost the debtor total, you must add the companies fees (around 18 percent) to the debt settlement amount (between 30 and 50 percent). This means the customer will likely pay around 50 to 70 percent of the total debt amount.
National Debt Relief not only works for customers in trouble with unsecured debt creditors but also some forms of secured debt as well, including private student loan debt, which is rare in this industry.
Many debt relief companies work solely with customers with unsecured debt. Additionally, the company claims to offer debt consolidation services (which do require higher credit scores), another rare occurrence in the debt relief industry.
Once NDR identifies a customer's type of debt and verifies that it can help with that specific problem, the customer will open a special savings account in their name. Instead of paying your creditors, you will deposit your money into this private savings account; this process is what will hurt your credit score most.
Another great part about National Debt Relief's service is their industry accreditations with the American Fair Credit Council (AFCC) and the International Association of Professional Debt Arbitrators (IAPDA). National Debt Relief is also compliant with the Federal Trade Commision (FTC).
These accreditations help legitimize the organization and ensure debt settlement companies follow consumer-friendly best practices.
A money-back guarantee is a must-have in the debt settlement industry. National Debt Relief offers a 100 percent money-back guarantee. Companies offer guarantees and take preventative measures in order to lessen the risk you take.
The fact that debt relief companies rarely guarantee a time or price range for settlement negotiation makes customers a bit hesitant.
To combat this, most debt arbitrators will check your credit report and ask for income information in order to ensure more accurate rates.
National Debt Relief's debt settlement and debt consolidation services are available in 42 states and territories, a higher availability than most debt relief companies. The company is not available in Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Maine, New Hampshire, Oregon, South Carolina, Vermont, or West Virginia.
National Debt Relief provides additional services for those customers who would be better served by not using debt settlement. Some customers would prefer debt consolidation, bankruptcy, or simple financial education services. Of course, if one can get out of debt on their own, one should try to do so.
If a customer needs help deciding whether bankruptcy is a good option (and whether to file chapter 7 or chapter 13), National Debt Relief will council customers on the right path forward.
The company also provides extensive financial education services to help you stay on your feet after you get out of debt.
One concern with National Debt Relief is that they have only been in business since 2009. While this is not a major problem, it is shorter than many competitors.
Additionally, the company has only been offering in-house debt settlement services since 2017, so you might not be able to deal with as many debt settlements experts at NDR as opposed to other debt settlement companies (the same goes for the company's debt consolidation services).
Usually, when customers approach the debt settlement program, it is with reluctance, poor credit scores, and few assets; this means that those with high credit card bills or medical bills are risking their credit scores on a company with lower experience than other debt relief companies.
However, those in risk of bankruptcy are still better off with NDR, as credit scores usually bounce back faster following debt settlement as opposed to the increase of credit score following bankruptcy.
National Debt Relief does not have one representative assigned to each individual client's case. This can be frustrating for those who call in to talk about their situation with creditors or to view case information because they will often talk to a new representative each time.
Not every customer has the same type of debt or financial situation; one customer might have high student loan debt while another might have credit card debt. This can cost both the debt settlement company and the client time and cause frustration.
Independent of whether you have student loan or credit card debt, not having an assigned representative or a credit counselor can make the whole process harder to handle.
Because debt collectors are constantly harassing you, it's always good to have someone familiar to talk to about your situation. You are also more likely to get sincere customer service from companies that offer assigned reps. Every debt relief company should assign a personal rep.
The company's disclaimer states that it does not make payments to creditors, provide tax, bankruptcy, or legal advice. Some debt relief companies (both debt settlement and debt consolidation companies) provide such services in addition to the debt relief services offered.
Additionally, NDR does not offer credit repair services. Such financial and legal services can be extremely useful, as debt settlement will result in a lower credit score and has been known to prompt the occasional lawsuit against the debtor.

Resolved 2 of my debts fast!! Happy with the employees and program! Hoping to get the ones still to be resolved taken care of asap!! I like not recieving any collection calls as well!!
if you really have some credit card debt and are struggling to pay the high interests then NDR is the place to call. National Debt Relief have the best customer service in the whole world. they will help you like being a family member of yours.
I couldn’t be more happy with National Debt Relief. They have saved me THOUSANDS of dollars by consolidating my debt and negotiating with my creditors. Just when I thought bankruptcy was the only solution, NDR delivered as promised! I would recommend to anyone wanting to GET DEBT FREE NOW!
Their customer representatives are always polite & helpful. NDR has taken a load off my shoulders and I finally see a light at the end of my debt tunnel! The periodic emails offer advice & encouragement.
Signing up with National Debt relief has been a terrible mistake and one I would advise everybody else to stay away from. It has been over 6 moths and they have settled little debt for me and not delivered on their promises. The only reason they got a single star is because the program does not allow a 1/2 star
Have not been in the program long enough to fairly rate yet. Only 2 out of 17 creditors have been contacted and/or settled since mid Dec. Too slow of a process so far. Lack of updates and contact regarding my account.
I had $32000 in debt. NDR has already saved me over $4000 in payoofs and that is with only settling 2 accounts. I have a long way to go but they are doing what they promised.
NDR was very helpful with settling my credit card debts. Thank you! However with regards to my AMEX account they were not successful in negotiating a debt settlement with them due to their aggressive collection methods.
It’s been putting me back on the right track to get my credit right again
It’s been a hard financial journey for our family and NDR has truly helped us settle some of our debt. We are not yet finished but I do see light at the end of our financial tunnel. The customer service team is amazing!
This has been the absolute best approach to lowering my debt. They are super!!
NDR was not willing to work with me long term on a lower monthly payment i could afford than what i was paying so i was forced to quite program.
Great company. In less than a year, they have 2 of my debts resolved and now I am just waiting to see about the rest of my debts.
Awesome customer service, very helpful, and great team and 100% I'm very satisfied and no regrets choosing the NDR to solve my problems and I'm very happy, thank you very much ,God bless
Very good progress for debt elimination.
3 stars due to the fact that you don’t work with minimum payments, meaning my minimum payment puts me in financial hardship every month. Also, I know this is somewhat petty, but my payment is scheduled every month on the 18th. This month it falls on a Monday. For some reason it was debited from my account on Saturday the 16th. Good thing I had the money in the account or that would have been a bad phone call to make. Probably cancelling the program. I understand if the pay date falls on a Sunday or holiday, but it should have not been debited until the correct date. The program so far has saved me some money and I do look forward to completing it in the next year.
A painless process... peace of mind! It’s good to have my life back!!!
I am thankful that there is another option to Bankruptcy. They have helped me every step of the way. Very professional and prompt!
I feel there is communication delay..if I email , it takes too long to get a response and when I call, I feel the reps have to be filled in, instead of knowing my history. I'm not really confident when I hang up sometimes. The sign up process was a lot of work, I think you guys need to streamline that process and make it more convenient for a new registrant. Get more into settling student loan debt. You want $4-5k to begin negotiations but that can take months. Student loan providers are super aggressive and threatening, time is of the essence, especially when they want to sue. You guys need to get into helping us with that at the bare minimum. It is a HUGE burden on millenials. Your email and website are a little confusing. We need layman's terms. Especially when you guys are settling a debt. I really am confused on the communications that I get. Especially if there is a itemized list, it is not clear at all. Very shorthand and confusing. Make it easier to change the payment date, it happens sometimes..I've only done it 2x but when I call, its almost like you feel like you are in trouble.
Most time when I call, I can expect to be there n hold for at least 5-10 minutes. Before they even ask my name I have to give them my phone number, address, last four and date of birth. They should really think of creating a pin or secret password instead. Now on to the nitty gritty. I loaded 5,000$ into my account my only for all of that to go towards fees, I was upset yes, but life went on. I put my entire tax return into the account (nearly 3,000$) and needed to skip or move a payment to the right. Well the money I put in there the second time also all went to fees, so my bank is now negative and in the red because when they take out their fees upfront they don’t leave anything for principal at all....nothing. I’ve been in the program for closer to a year and still have two accounts that haven’t been reconciled or atill in negotiations. Very disappointed for this company not sticking to their own schedules in regards to collecting their fees. They don’t care about helping anyone, just another money grabbing scam. 0 stars.
Very good with communication and guidance
Constantly updates some settlements handled quick, when I call all questions answered to my satisfaction. Overall really like this company,
Zero rating may be a very kind rating! DO NOT fall for this company's schemes. They are scam artist that have no real interest in helping resolve credit issues. My debts are caused by my company and therefore fall on me. They gave me a smooth song and dance and claimed to be able to help with a large debt settlement. 2 years into their program - My husband had a severe heart disease. My sole source of income was lost. I contacted them many many times letting them know that we have a problem. They instead kept on me to increase my monthly payments to them. When I told them that I am having serious financial hardship - they informed me that they will remove the large debt - the main reason why I signed up with them - from my account. And if I wish I could try and settle with them on my own. I had read that before and I did not heed the reviewer's caution. SO PLEASE HEAR ME - DO NOT SIGN with these guys. Try and negotiate with your lenders on your own. Now after all this time - my credit score is in the toilet because of the way they schedule the settlement. And I could have most likely - done a better and more prudent job - of trying to do this myself.
My experience so far has been very rewarding,
After the initial process and getting set up, my experience with National Debt Relief has been positive. Even though it requires patience to go through the process, it has been very helpful. Some of my debt was settled faster than what I thought possible.
My experience with National Debt Relief has been mostly positive. So far they've managed to negotiate our debt down by more than 50%, which is amazing. We've completely paid off one of our four credit accounts, and we're on track to paying another off this year. We're still waiting for our other two accounts to be negotiated successfully, and we're hopeful that we'll be able to have similar results. The waiting game is hard, and there's not a lot of communication or updates during the negotiation process, which is frustrating. But that appears to be the nature of the process. Customer service response via email is slow, but they are very responsive on the phone, and very good at walking us through every step of the process.

Brendan, thank you for the update. Congratulations on your success so far. We hope to hear more from you as you continue in the program.
We are in the middle of our contract and so far so good. They keep in contact with the creditors and me and let me know when there is a settlement offer. So far they have settled 4 of my 10 accounts. Happy so far.
I am so happy so far with the results NDR has prioritized for me. Cynthia Nester
I enrolled in the program in November 2018 and so glad that I did!! I lost my 21 year old daughter unexpectedly in November 2017 and was off work for awhile without my regular salary and while I was off work I was having a lot of medical issues as well. My deductible is very high and until I meet it, I am responsible for all the co-pays. Needless to say, while I was off work trying to grieve healthy and take care of medical issues, bills didn’t stop and so it was a domino effect that caused me to get further in debt. At this point, I was trying to make payment arrangements but I just kept sinking and sinking . I honestly felt that I was being weighed down in an ocean with no end in site. I went into a very deep depression. I am a believer in God and I knew he would guide me in the right direction! I saw a commercial about National Debt Relief and then decided to research about them. I liked what I was reading and so I decided to give them a call. From my first Interaction thus far, I have been treated with dignity and respect, they explained everything to me and made sure that I understood. They have taken full responsibility of doing all my communications with the creditors and an awesome job with getting settlement offers!! They are great with their communications on everything that they do and nothing gets settled until they get my approval! They make it easy for you to provide them with income updates and to be able to email statements to them. They offer many ways for you to be able to communicate your questions/concerns with them. There response time is very quick and you never have to wonder what’s going on with your account. I also appreciate the fact that they have two systems that you can actually log onto to view all activities and it makes it very easy to follow your money!! I am a true believer that you should be responsible for paying your debt however, sometimes life happens and bad things happen to good people. This program has allowed me to still be responsible for my debt and is helping me to be able to grieve my daughters death in a healthy way and take care of my health while they nogociate with my creditors and keep me informed!! They are amazing and the Customer Service has been outstanding since my first phone call!!! They truly have been my saving grace and I love them!!!! I feel blessed that I was able to find this program and enroll!! National Debt Relief has brought light to the darkness (debt) that was drowning me!! Thanks National Debt Relief, God Bless!!!!♥️

Tammy, we're so sorry for your loss. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We also commend you for your determination and commitment to getting out of debt. It's not always an easy process but we'll do everything we can to help you succeed.
True to their word. They get results.
Great! I love that they contact when it’s important otherwise handle things behind the scenes not bugging me every two mins! I like phone calls instead of emails too!
At first I was wary and when my credit report started getting "updated" a lot I was kind of scared but I stayed with it. I started in May and by December I had two resolved creditors. It really is a relief. I'm in repayment now and it is a little rough but, well worth it for the piece of mind and not have to talk directly to the creditors.
National Debt, has lived up to the reviews standards & outcomes as promised by my initial contact, which was indicated it would be. To this point, I am grateful.
I was in so much debt, I had nowhere else to turn. All of the folks that have helped me get going to pay off my credit cards have been wonderfully patient and NEVER condescending. Other companies that I spoke with prior to National Debt relief couldn't even remember my name through one conversation. How hard can that be?? If I ever (pray, not0 in trouble again, I will call no other than National Debt Relief. Thank you to ALL who work there!!
Excellent service both in guiding me and negotiating with creditors. It's lifted a huge burden from me as I head into retirement.
I'm deeply disappointed with NDR because I fail to see any activity in my account. The reason given by NDR is that they are waiting until I accumulate enough funds in my account so that they can pursue settlement agreements with my creditors. I'm not buying this reason. All they are doing is collecting interest off of my money and charging me a fee to do so.

William, we're sorry your experience hasn't met your expectation. Let's see if we can clarify any misunderstandings you may have. Firstly, the money in the savings account doesn't generate interest. The account isn't interest-bearing and its sole purpose is to hold and save your monthly drafts. Secondly, remember, we aren't a bank or a lender. The funds we will eventually use to repay the creditors comes from your monthly drafts. Think about this: when you enroll your accounts, let's say we start negotiating immediately and we have a settlement within (1) month. Your creditor will expect payments to start right away. If you don't have money in your savings account. we can't make those payments for you, so the negotiation would have been a waste. Any subsequent negotiations may not yield a result as favorable. This is why we must wait until there's enough in the savings account before we start the process. If you'd like one of our agents to review how our program works with you, we encourage you to reach out to us. We're happy to help.
National Debt Relief agents have all been very helpful My experience with the company has been positive with excellent results.
Very good customer service. Everyone I've spoken with has been friendly and very helpful.
Great customer service and awesome program to pay off my debt. Everyone I talked to was feet helpful and legit. Nothing but love for this program which I’d recommend to anyone in debt for a great solution to get out of it at a significant discount to trying an never paying off large credit debts
After drowning in debt, half of my debt is paid, and so are half of my creditors. I haven't used a credit card in 16 months! Yeah!
I am grateful to National Debt Relief for helping me with my debt issue. There were times when I had to contact several representatives to encourage some movement on one of my accounts. Otherwise I enjoyed a positive experience.
I am happy with the services. I get a live human each time i call.
Good customer service and response time.
Great customer service! Everyone I have dealt with has been kind and informative.
After 7 months of enrollment, National Debt Relief has settled 1/3 of my debt for less than half of the owed amount. Thank you for your personal care, your discerning lawyers, and legal advisors. You enable me to be on the debt-free path!
My experience with National Debt Relief has been a very rewarding one. They are very concern with helping you get out of debt and very understanding when it comes to personal hardships after they have taken out the money allotted for your case. I know I will be out of debt soon with this company because they do work fast!!!.
Just Great service and friendly people Great to work with
Great communication and help on debt relief
I'm very pleased with the settlement of the first two accounts but have not heard anything about the rest. I gave verbal feedback through a telephone call about a week ago That call included the foregoing comments.
So far I am really pleased with how NDR has worked with my creditors and helped on getting my debt reduced.
