Not exactly what that warranty company has to offer. It states all component parts are covered which makes it very vague. They didn’t cover a cartridge the shower needed. Ridiculous! Or other parts either. Very disappointed!

Our experience with Home Warranty of America has been nothing short of devastating. They have disappointed us at every corner. After paying an astronomical amount for their warranty, they are giving us a ridiculous amount of less than 1/8th of the cost of a replacement refrigerator. The only refrigerator you can purchase with what they are giving us is a nice wine fridge. They are also holding the check for 16 days. The amount of ice i am using will quickly deplete that amount. I am 68 years old and I do not enjoy living like a camper. They are forcing me to live this way! Do not trust this company! HWA is unreliable and has fractured my peace of mind with any home warranty company.

On Saturday morning, I reported that my AC was not working - this is an emergency in a part of our country where the heat index is between 100 and 110!! Sunday I received an email that my request had been assigned for Tuesday morning. Tuesday I reached out to the AC company. No one ever responded at that number. I called home warranty several times asking them to check on the order. Around 3 o’clock on Tuesday I googled and got a different phone number. This phone number worked for the AC company. They were completely unaware of the work order and said it had been a while since they had worked with HWA. When they attempted to contact HWA, a recording told them they had to go into a portal, which they did not have login information for. When I had talked to the AC company lateTuesday afternoon, they had hoped to be able to get the work order and come first thing Wednesday morning. I got a call Wednesday morning that they had never been able to retrieve the work order. I called HWA and told them about it. Now it is noon on Wednesday and I am still waiting to hear that there has been a new assignment for my job! This is ridiculous! Not to mention a real danger to have people living in this heat, without air-conditioning! My home warranty rates are higher than ever, the service fee has more than double I started with home warranty companies, and the service is the worst!

HWA was paid for by my realtor. It seemed like a good idea at the time. My first experience with my second refrigerator repair left me thinking I would never renew. My two air conditioning repairs were very positive. But, if I renew my coverage, it will not be with HWA. My second refrigerator stopped cooling in the refrigerator section but the freezer section was fine. The repair person came out when it was failing and felt the fan, directing cold air from the freezer to the refrigerator section was the culprit. So they ordered a new fan. A week later, the refrigerator section was cold as expected. I called the repair company to tell them the fan was working again and possibly something controlling the fan was the issue, not the fan itself. They sent the same repair person to my home and he ran over 50 diagnostics that are part of the Whirlpool appliance capabilities. No failures detected. The repair company said they would ask HWA about replacement as the alternative was replacing every component in the refrigerator until it stopped failing. HWA indicated the appliance company closed my case telling HWA my compressor had failed. HWA then said it was my problem as that should be covered by the Whirlpool warranty. Given HWA said the appliance company closed the case with the LIE that the compressor failed and HWA telling me this was a warranty issue, I would not trust the appliance repair company nor HWA. I am out the $75 fee, the appliance company likely got a new fan as part of their initial filing and HWA gets to wash their hands of the entire issue.

under no circumstances should anyone choose to work with home warranty of america. our experience working with them has been abysmal & truly the worst service (if you can even call it that) i’ve ever had from a corporation. we are approaching the two month mark with an open claim for our policy covered air conditioner. we have gone through five technicians at this point and HWA has found reason after reason to deny the claim even after explicit acknowledgement from their technicians of normal wear and tear. we will not be renewing our policy when the year is up; I cannot adequately express in this few characters how unhappy I am with HWA. We have filed a claim with the BBB due to how poor our experience working with HWA and their lack of integrity as a company has been. If I could leave 0 stars I would.

I ask then what did the tech change out if what he did was not the issue hmmm

The communication for both was minimal to none! I have yet to receive any monetary compensations or refunds for the purchase I made to made! Now the latest issue of being denied coverage for my AC issue was denied as of yesterday! I will not be renewing my POLICY WITH HWA. Your customer service is very poor, I called; I have called twice to get an explanation on why my claim was denied and was told several different reasons and none made since. First I was told it was normal wear and tear, but the picture clearly shows it was. So now I will be out of 700 dollars to pay for plumbing that I supposedly could have gotten fixed under your warranty. Ya’ll spend more time trying to deny people than actually help people.

The have changed their practices. The no longer provide a replacement, or even funds close to replacement cost, for an item they no longer deem worth saving through repairs. And they force you to take a Lowe’s gift card in payment and it takes a month to get the gift card. In the past 2 years, I was given a $600 gift card to replace an electric double wall oven. Cheapest one on sale at Lowe’s was $1,900, without installation. In the last month, I was given a $194 gift card to replace an over counter microwave that cost $599 without installation. Thanks HWA… for NOTHING. I will not renew!!

Been dealing with NO A/C for a month now while HWA try’s to find a vendor that’s willing to pay for all materials up front and risk not getting paid by HWA for several months. Needless to say none of the vendors have been willing to trust HWA due to past experiences, meanwhile I still have no A/C after paying for my premium.

It took 10 days for the appointment. I wrote that there was two air conditioners that need to be worked on. The technician said there was only one he could work on. The AC is still not working properly.. Somehow, you guys knew there’s another unit and emailed me the next day that I had an appointment the next day. Amazing how first call took 10 days and the other one day when you guys could charge me $75 again.

A claim was denied and we were assigned a case manager (Sean W.) and scheduled a phone call. He never called us or responded to emails and calls. Extremely poor customer service. If the call needed to be rescheduled, we are reasonable people and would have been fine with it. But zero communication and a “no show” call us unacceptable to us, as loyal customers for 12 years. We will be escalating this to the AG office, executive leadership, and other regulatory agencies.

It was the company I went with when I purchased my house. They have gone to sh!t, things that actually should be considered an emergency repairs take weeks and end up causing further issues. For example, my AC went out took them three days to get somebody here ( I’m in Texas and it was the start of summer so I’ll let you guess how hot it was) about two days to have repaired( because the company came later then they said they would so of course they would have to come back the next day with the part that they could’ve gotten the same day if they came early enough) . They fixed what they could left and then my AC system was filled with algae blooms from being down for the 5-6 days, so I had to pay another company to come clean it. They went from doing their job to providing half ass services. Don’t recommend using them. I’m actually in the process of looking for a new company..

Not a repair or replacement was done and we were forced to compensate buyers with cash payment and transfer fridge to our next house, HWA say no longer available for coverage since it’s at a new address.

Came with my house. Kind of a pain company to deal with. Scheduling doesn’t work how they say it does, and you end up having to work with whatever company they choose directly on your own. Also denied my claim because the a/c system that was installed and been working since 1996 apparently has issues now because of “improper installation”. Yeah, right.

Disliked the fact that our scheduled appointment did not occur on the scheduled day. It wasn’t until the next day we had service. The issue we reported was not resolved based on the same issue reoccurring in a worse state. We called an AC service company that diagnosed the issue and fixed it. In total we laid a $75 fee to 24/7 AC and over $950 to get our air conditioner checked out and repaired. Very disappointed with HWA and the 24/7 AC company.

Having finally dealt with a significant claim (full HVAC replacement), I can see where the money is made by HWA. Paying $925 for a warranty with a $5000 cap on all systems means the money line is always on HWA. A rusted out, leaking coil required a FULL HVAC system replacement, but HWA only approved an internal coil (R-22) replacement, allowing HWA to dodge from having to pay for a whole EPA-compliant (R-454B) system. I was also wholly unaware HWA is allowed to replace brand name, premium, American-made (Lennox / Rheem) components with builder-grade, Chinese components. Entirely unacceptable. Long story short, is we paid $9969 for a brand-new, EPA-compliant Rheem system, and HWA covered $890 ($550 for coil install labor, and $340 for a Chinese builder-grade 9 SEER coil) Before this, I renewed for an additional year of coverage, but I am cancelling my policy as a result of this horrendous experience.

I've been with you since I moved into this house 14 or 15 years ago and have always used you and been satisfied with your service. But this time you didn't come through as before. Instead of completely replaceing my microwave your sending me a egift card for 190.00 to replace it. So it's going to cost me at least 5 or 6 hundred more dollars more to find a good microwave and have it installed, which you should have done. First time in all these years I'm no satisfied.

I’d give it a zero if possible. Waiting three weeks to get a small leak fixed (diamond package). I’m on my third plumber/technician to get this job completed. All have cancelled bc HWA won’t pay them what they need in order to complete the diagnostic report HMA requires. I had to pay service fee and they won’t refund it. I basically paid $100 service fee for nothing. I’ve literally had to make over 20 calls for this leak. Communication is terrible. A complete waste of money and time.

They gave terrible service every time we called. I made four claims. One of the claims was approved and it was for the least expensive of any of the jobs. Do not use this company. They are awful and will find every excuse in the book to not cover your expenses. We paid so much money for premiums and got I think $52 worth of parts in all of our claims.

Communication was terrible, every time I spoke with someone their only response was that I would receive an email in 24 hours, day after day, same response. Paid for a third of the price of a new unit excluding labor. Had to fight tooth and nail to even end up there. If a company is going to value appliances at wholesale prices, then the company shouldn’t enable the client to purchase through a wholesale company. Had to fight to get a check sent to me instead of Lowes credit. Awful experience. Would be better off replacing the appliance in cash instead of buying a warranty that would have covered the purchase price.

Garage Door - The vendor was great but it took almost 3 weeks to get someone here to do repair. That’s after I kept calling HW to see status. No return calls until I got a hold of a manager. Microwave - this repair took over a month because the vendor kept having to order parts and cancelled several times for unknown reasons. Apparently there is only one vendor in the area that can repair a GE microwave. There doesn’t seem to be a sense of urgency when an issue arises.

It takes days or weeks to get an appointment. Then only a few times have the service people communicated with me. It took me numerous appointments to repair an ice maker in my refrig......approximately . I finally requested they send someone else and he repaired it in two times....he had to order a part. it took way over 2 month. Now....I have ice, but the vegetable been next to the door with the icemaker freezes, so can't use it. But....I don't dare call again it took so long to fix. No communication with the first company that came. I can't tell you how many times I had to leave work. It took over 2 weeks to get hot water heater fixed. I finally had to call my rep and she called someone at the company and he had issues. The first time I used HWA, I had an issue with the garage door not closing with the remote. Someone came out and told me that there was nothing wrong with the garage door opener, but he thought I would need a garage door, which would be $2500. So...I ended up later calling a repair person that wasn't with HWA and sure enough I needed a garage door opener and that has resolved the issue. I can keep on going, but there isn't enough time. I recently filled a claim because my sink was leaking....and I thought it was the garbage disposal. Come to find out it did need a new garbage disposal, but the sink was also stopped up. The company wouldn't work on the sink, because they were told it was an issue with the disposal. I am not a repair person. I was emphasizing the disposal because it probably was going to need a part. Most times your repair people come out without a part and they have to come back. But....the repairman offered to fix the stopped up sink for $181, so I took the option because I was tired of not having a kitchen sink and I had company coming.

I had an air conditioner problem and diagnosed it to be the motor to my condenser fan. I called home warranty of america to start a claim for repairs. They sent true comfort hvac. I payed the technician $75 for his diagnosis and it was the motor. Days went by without any word from true comfort I would attempt to call them and It would be a 40 minute wait until they answered and the operator was extremely rude but stated that they were waiting on the warranty. I called the warranty and complained about true comfort because the warranty told me that they were waiting on true comfort. After two weeks of waiting I called true comfort another 40 minutes wait and they stated that they needed me to pay $220 for them to order the motor so the repairs could be made I explained to her that the warranty was supposed to cover it and she stated that I didn’t understand how insurance works. I called home warranty to see why they were expecting me to pay but while on the phone home warranty dropped my call. I called them again and started speaking to a different individual and same thing they dropped my call. I got fed up and ordered the motor and did the repairs myself. Home warranty is garbage and I believe they purposely treat their costumers in a negative way to discourage them from using the warranty.

We have been having a hard time communicating both with HWA and the vendor. We are going on two weeks with out air conditioning during a heat wave in Chicago, where everyday has been above 85 degrees. Our two second floor bedrooms are unlivable, with temperatures of 95 degrees, resulting in my wife and I and two kids sleeping on the sofa and air mattress in the basement. On three separate occasions we have tried to use HWA’s automated call back function to end up not getting called back. In addition the vendor says they have not gotten approval from HWA, while HWA says the opposite, and we are stuck now 10 days since the initial diagnosis and no closer to repairs.

Our refrigerator broke down after the first attempt to fix, the refrigerator broke down again. We were told that a part needed to be replaced. We never heard from the service provider once the claim was approved for part to be replaced. They ended up reassigning new service provider. He confirmed that refrigerator was no longer repairable. We were told that our refrigerator was approved to be replaced and that we were going to g to receive an $818 Lowe’s e-card that would take up to 30 days to arrive. Seriously?? We ended up going to Lowe’s to purchase the new refrigerator (we had no choice). I’ve opened a claim to dispute the original amount that HWA agreed to reimburse us.
