Summary

Freedom Debt Relief, a subsidiary of Freedom Financial Network, has resolved billions in consumer debt since its founding in 2002.

The company has considerable industry experience and high client satisfaction ratings.

With all the major industry accreditations, Freedom Debt Relief (FDR) is a great option for many consumers. Its minimum debt requirement is $7,500. Freedom Debt Relief accepts clients dealing with financial hardship that meet this threshold and clients that can make regular payments to an account to pay for settlements. Freedom Debt Relief employs professional debt experts to negotiate and settle debt for those suffering financial hardship.

The company offers a debt settlement program that involves negotiating with creditors to lower total debt owed and is available in 40 states. It does not, however, offer debt management plans or credit counseling for those not interested in debt settlement, as Freedom Debt Relief is a debt settlement company.

On average, Freedom Debt Relief charges 22 percent of your total enrolled debt, which means the cost varies depending on your financial situation. To settle a $20,000 debt, it will cost around $4,000.

As opposed to a debt consolidation company which consolidates all of a customer's debt into one consolidation loan and one monthly payment, debtors approach Freedom Debt Relief as a last resort in order to escape high amounts of debt and avoid declaring bankruptcy.

The Bottom Line

Freedom Debt Relief's debt negotiation experience is worth the money. Freedom Debt Relief customer reviews relate that the company has saved them thousands of dollars by negotiating with their creditors. If you're looking to settle your debt through debt negotiation and a reliable debt relief program, we highly recommend using Freedom Debt Relief if you receive a reasonable quote from the company during your free consultation.

Services

Services Offered: Debt Settlement, Free Consultation

States Serviced:

As a leading debt settlement company, Freedom Debt Relief offers several services and features to its customers, including

  • Free consultation with a Certified Debt Consultant
  • Relief for unsecured debts (credit card debt, medical debt, personal loan debt, or department store credit debt)
  • A free debt evaluation
  • An online dashboard to track your progress
  • Debt negotiation
  • Debt settlement
  • And more

Freedom Debt Relief offers a free consultation with a highly trained, IAPDA-certified debt consultant when a consumer decides to enlist the company's debt settlement services.

According to a four-year study by Freedom Debt Relief, its customers start the program with a median of $28,000 in debt, which decreases to $3,800 after 45 months in the program. The graph below shows the decrease in debt over time and how this directly affects the increase in customers' credit scores.

Decrease in debt over time

One feature that sets FDR apart from the rest is a unique and intuitive online dashboard to track clients' pace throughout the program. This helps people to actually see their progress while settling their debts. It also offers education to help clients improve their financial knowledge.

Not many debt settlement companies in the industry offer this debt relief service as part of their packages.

Pricing

Minimum Debt Requirement: $7,500

How much does Freedom Debt Relief cost?

On average, Freedom Debt Relief charges $4,000 to settle $20,000 in debt, or about 20-22 percent of total debt. If Freedom Debt Relief cuts your debt in half, you would end up paying $14,000 instead of $20,000.

Users are charged an average of 22 percent of their total debt to use FDR. While this number is in line with their competitors, it is only an average. Customers could end up paying more or less than this to use FDR. FDR's prices range between 15 and 25 percent. The rates vary depending on the state the client lives in.

Current national debt relief trends indicate that debt settlement companies tend to charge a percentage of enrolled debt as opposed to saved debt. This means that the more total debt you have, the more debt settlement companies will charge you.

Although working with a debt settlement firm still saves you from paying thousands of dollars to creditors, it's better to work with companies that charge a percentage of saved debt rather than enrolled debt.

So exactly how much will Freedom Debt Relief cost you? It will cost you around 22 percent of your total enrolled debt, but you will have to have a consultation to get an accurate estimate. The fee is competitive for the industry. The fee is assessed when a successful settlement is reached.

However, Freedom Debt Relief's services are high quality and make it easier to make your way to living debt-free.

What is Freedom Debt Relief's minimum debt requirement?

Freedom Debt Relief has a minimum debt requirement of $7,500. This means if you are looking to settle or reduce your debt but you do not meet this threshold, you will have to find another debt relief company with a lower minimum debt requirement.

However, Freedom Debt has a lower minimum requirement than some other top debt relief companies we have reviewed, so it is still standard for the industry, if not slightly more inclusive and available than some other debt relief companies.

What Customers Are Saying

Want to read real Freedom Debt Relief reviews from verified customers? Do so here. We've also included a snapshot of how customers rank Freedom Debt in terms of value, quality, service, and trustworthiness.

Positive Reviews

Most Freedom Debt reviews on Best Company are positive. People commend FDR for having good customer service, explaining debt management, and keeping them updated on where they are at in the debt settlement program.

Clients drowning in high amounts of unsecured debt (credit card debt, personal loans, medical debt, student loan debt) usually find that the company can save them from paying a large percentage of what they owe. One Freedom Debt Relief review even states that the company helped him save several thousand dollars in interest as well as settling all of his outstanding debt.

Despite the debt settlement program's tendency to negatively affect credit scores in the first six months, clients with mountains of credit card debt find it extremely helpful for debt reduction. It's also important for people to know that forgiven debt is considered taxable income, so you may owe more in taxes when using debt settlement services.

Complaints

While most of the Freedom Debt Relief reviews are positive, there are still several Freedom Debt Relief clients who have complaints about the debt relief company. The two main complaints that people seem to have are the following:

  • Debt settlement takes too long or isn't as effective as people hoped
  • FDR charges too much for its services, sometimes costing consumers up to 25 percent of their total enrolled debt

These complaints are fairly common within the debt settlement industry. It's important for clients to be fully informed about what debt settlement is and how it works. Potential clients should use the free consultation to learn more about the time it takes to reach a settlement and specific price information.

About the Company

Accreditations: AFCC, IAPDA

Is Nonprofit: No

Time in Business: 20 Years

Experience and Accreditations

As an accredited debt relief company, Freedom Debt Relief has over 17 years of experience in the debt settlement industry. It has settled over two million accounts since its founding and regularly settles over 50,000 accounts monthly.

In fact, Freedom Debt was one of the founding members of the American Fair Credit Council (AFCC), which now accredits other debt relief companies and sets the standard for best practices in the credit advocacy industry. The company is also a platinum member of the International Association of Professional Debt Arbitrators.

Freedom Debt Relief has years of experience standing between the creditor and the client. FDR will work to obtain settlements that resolve credit card debt (or any type of unsecured debt, such as personal loan debt or medical debt).

FDR will walk clients through the debt settlement process: first, customers will voluntarily choose to stop making monthly payments to lenders. Instead, clients will elect to make a monthly deposit into a separate special purpose account to save money to pay for the settlements once negotiated. Freedom Debt Relief will then work to negotiate a settlement on behalf of its clients.

Unfortunately, this settlement process will affect your credit score. If you miss any minimum payments on your credit card or other debt, this will decrease your credit score. A four-year study by Freedom Debt Relief found that its customers' credit scores dropped in the first six months of the debt settlement program, then began to recover. According to the study, most customers' credit scores recovered to their previous position by the time they completed the Freedom Debt Relief program. It's smart to have a plan for boosting your credit score before you start the debt settlement process.

The graph below shows Freedom Debt Relief's customers' credit scores over time as they improve their debt through the company's program.

Freedom Debt Relief's customers' credit scores over time

How does Freedom Debt Relief work?

Freedom Debt Relief doesn't charge an upfront fee or any other fees until after debt is settled with creditors. This practice is standard for the industry. Debt relief companies, like National Debt Relief and Pacific Debt, also do not have upfront fees.

Upon enrollment, customers will open an FDIC-insured bank account that the client controls. Clients will put all of their money that would have gone toward paying their debt into this bank account instead. This is the main reason why this program hurts your credit score more than debt consolidation.

Next, FDR or its representatives or agents will negotiate with your creditors to settle on debt to pay.

Freedom Debt Relief makes money by charging fees on the enrolled debt amount. Its average fees are a bit high (around 22 percent fees on enrolled debt), but its services are thorough.

The company's ability to help clients find an easier road to financial freedom and paying off debt is highly valuable.

Should I have any concerns about Freedom Debt Relief?

Limited Availability

Freedom Debt Relief offers debt settlement programs in only 40 states. If Freedom Debt Relief does not offer its debt relief program in your state, you'll have to consider other debt settlement companies.

Most debt settlement companies have a minimum debt requirement to ensure a payout. A debt settlement company that charges by saved debt will not run into this problem as much.

Freedom Debt Relief requires a minimum debt amount of $7,500 (the amount of which is charged fees between 15 and 25 percent). While this threshold is low compared to other debt settlement companies, it does rule out people struggling with lower debt amounts.

An additional limitation with Freedom Debt Relief is that the company only works with debtors with unsecured debt. Freedom Debt Relief is not an option for those struggling with secured debt. The difference between unsecured and secured debt is that unsecured debt is not backed by assets or collateral, while secured debt is.

Limited Services

Some debt relief agencies provide services outside of debt settlement, such as credit counseling, advocating for a lower interest rate on your debt, or debt management plans. However, Freedom Debt Relief does not offer these services.

As such, if you choose to go with Freedom Debt Relief to help you work toward resolving your debt, be aware that you will be signing up for a debt settlement program, and may still receive calls from a debt collector or face the risk of a negative impact on your credit score.

Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Lawsuit

In 2019, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and Freedom Debt Relief reached an agreement that FDR would do the following:

  • Make it clear that in some cases, FDR may not be able to negotiate a debt if the creditor is unwilling to negotiate
  • Let consumers know that, in some cases, the creditor will only negotiate if the client is also directly involved in the negotiations, and that the consumer has the right to refuse to participate in the negotiations and can remove the debt from their program without penalty
  • Make it clearer to consumers under what circumstances they will be charged a fee
  • Stop charging fees on all accounts where the settlement amount was not reduced, or where the creditor wrote off the debt on their own
  • Make it clearer to consumers that, if they end their program early, any money left in their program savings account belongs to them, minus any funds earned by the company according to legal statutes
  • Pay restitution money to injured consumers
  • Pay a civil penalty

It's a good idea for potential clients to do some research on the process, consumers' rights, and industry standards for settlement companies before setting up a free consultation with a debt settlement service. It's also recommended to read recent customer reviews to get a better sense of Freedom Debt Relief's commitment to clients and how good its settlement services are.

I really appreciate this program. It is helping me become debt free as I start to transition towards retirement. The legal services have been instrumental with their services. My only issue is the contact us. The responses seem like they are from someone that doesn't know the program. They were not helpful.

First I will say I'm glad I got my debt resolved soon rather than later since I incorporated more money from time to time during the program. However, it's given 4 stars from me because even though my debt is resolved, I have to wait 30-60 days before it's completely off my credit.

My overall experience was a positive one!!!! I got out of $38,000 of debt in four years. I did have a couple of negative aspects though..... The fees were a little more than I anticipated. The initial contact point person didn't make it really clear how my credit score would be impacted. And my last negative has not been resolved yet. I have graduated from the program but have had two more$698 automatic withdrawals from my bank account!!!!

Reply from Freedom Debt Relief

We appreciate the feedback, Doug. Keep in mind that our settlement fees are bigger savings than having to pay your creditors the full 100% of the debt owed + interest % + any additional fees they charge. Unfortunately credit impact is inevitable, the moment you stop making payments on your accounts, your credit begins to suffer, this is true in and out of the program. Luckily, you can start to see progress in your credit score as your program progresses, and can begin to focus on improving your credit upon completion of your program. We also want to reassure you that any funds that are left in your account that were not used for fees or settlements, will be refunded to you. Congratulations on the completion of your Freedom Debt Relief!

FDR works. I have been in the program for about a year and already I've paid off 2 of my 5 debts, and recently got a settlement for a third debt. The downside is it really destroyed my credit rating. I totaled my car and it was almost impossible to get another one. When I did get one, the interest rate is crazy high and my payments equally so.

I wrote an original review a month ago stating how I was pleased with FDR up until my Discover account went through litigation and things felt like they were falling through the cracks on FDR’s end and their law team. As soon as I wrote the review, an agent higher up with FDR contacted me and I was able to express my issues and concerns. After this conversation, communication on this account felt like it was getting much better and I ended up getting a settlement. I do still feel like to get things done you have to do your own part and really stay on top of things to make sure it runs smoothly. I was pleased to see that my effort did matter to them and they wanted to clear up all issues.

I like that I know what I'm going to pay every month and it's just one payment. I don't like that they fharge a settlement fee when they help you settle a debt.

Reply from Freedom Debt Relief

Hello Tiffany, like you mentioned we do take a fee, but only once a settlement has been negotiated and authorized by the client and we have started making payments toward the settlement. Our goal and responsibility to our clients are to encourage their creditors to accept lesser amounts to resolve balances. Once we've done this successfully, we're entitled to collecting our fees as we've fulfilled our duties.

We've had some challenged when we call in to the regular customer service team where we get misinformation and recently we've had to go directly to a rep and not calling the main customer service line. When I call the customer service line things don't get resolved. It's been great with the person who's been helping us but it's been frustrating because I have to wait for them to be available. They pretty much resolved everything and did it for a lot less than we thought we could go. They need to have accuracy of data updates. They created a large confusion when they were settling it full time where it was unresolved when we thought it had been resolved.

I never thought about debt relief until one of FDR's cust serv people contacted me and explained their product. I'd been struggling with credit cards but their help sounded as if I could do better. I turned my CC debt over to them, followed their directions about interacting with my creditors. It was hard not making the monthly payments, waiting on the companies to settle. I started increasing my monthly payments to FDR to shorten the 48 month payment time frame. I hope to shorten the payment time to FDR even more in the near future. The CS people are always very nice and answer any questions or concerns. It seems to be a solid way to reduce CC debt so far. They offered a bank loan so I could make sure all my repayment monry was in the pot , perhaps they could secure settlements quicker, I refused that as i didnt want any further debt. Nothing further was said.., no one badgered me. I'm only part way though my settlements. So far so good. Ask me in anither year. Yes I'll recomment the services of FDR to anyone.

I looked them up online and asked around before picking them. They just looked like a good option and a trusted firm. I've been with them for about 2 years and I fully trust them. Every time I call, everybody is friendly and they keep me informed. They always give me good answers and try to guide me through every step I need to take. They make it easy for me to send out paperwork and things like that. For updates, they email me and I can also look at their website to find all the information. It has worked out well for me. It's a good way to pay back your debts without actually filing for bankruptcy. It's a pretty easy way out of that doesn't leave you feeling guilty about not paying your debt. Even when you include the debt relief fees that they charge, they steadily reduce the rates and payments you have to make. They also ensure that creditors won't be climbing on my back to bother me. I just wish they wouldn't stretch the actual payment so much but I understand that's how the system works.

We have been troubled with credit card debt. It didn't seem to ever get paid off because we were stuck just making the minimum payments. We contacted them to see if they could help relieve some of that stress and so far they have been able to do it. They have reduced the balance for 5 of our accounts by about 40%. There was one account that we got back where the settlement was not as much of a discount as my others had been. I rejected it and asked them to see if they could do a little better on that. They're still working on that account in particular so we'll see how that goes. I've been very satisfied with every other settlement they've reached though. Customer service is very good; they answer my questions really well. They're real pleasant over the phone, even when you're dealing with a stressful situation. There have been times where the person that I'm talking to is not really addressing my specific question but rather just generalizing things. I get a little frustrated whenever that happens but for the most part they are very helpful and friendly people. They send us emails or text messages whenever we get a new settlement or if they need approval for something. I'm very pleased about signing up with them. They've gotten us into a position that I would've never been able to reach on my own. We still got a way to go but so far everything has been mostly good. It has relieved a lot of stress.

At the time we were pretty messed up financially. We were pretty much living on credit cards and had no other money. It was just awful, so I tried to figure out a way out of that. I talked to someone several times about it and she was just very patient and understanding of my situation. In the end, I just decided to go with it. In the beginning it really felt like they were there for me. Before taking an offer from a company, they always asked me first if I wanted to accept it. They would also send me an email ever so often to encourage me to look at my account on their website to see what had been paid off. Later on though, when I had a couple more questions, the only way was could get a hold of them was through email or through their website. That didn't feel very personal to me. When we signed up I also didn't know that the fees were going to be as high as they were. I thought it was going to be like $2500 dollars for everything but for two years in a row I've been paying for a fee per account and I've also had to pay for cancellation of debt things and taxes. I mean, it has been a good thing, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now and that's good. We're happy to not ever have another credit card. But still'

They are a very good company and they were very concerned about our debt. So far they have been personable, nice, and generally they do really seem to care. I usually look on their dashboard to check on the progress of things and if I ever have any question I can just call them at any time. The only thing I wish they would change is the way they contact companies and such. They do individual accounts one at a time, but I wish they would contact all the debt agencies and let them know that they're working on the accounts. Still, I feel like I made a good decision working with Freedom Debt Relief.

I feel great; they helped me a lot, and I saved money. Communication was great, customer service was also great. They'll contact you at least once or twice a month. If I ever needed something, I'd contact someone directly, so that was kind of good that I actually had someone, I wouldn't say a personal number, but a phone where I can reach them anytime if I had any question with them. So that's truly what grabbed my attention; everything was legit. It was easy to work with them. I did some research online before I actually signed up with them, and the person I spoke with the first time was detailed about all of the answers, all of the questions I asked them, and he was real nice. That's why I chose Freedom Debt Relief.

It's been cool working with these people, it really has. They're great, they answer all my questions, not a problem at all, they're really nice people. I had a whole bunch of bills, so it was kind of overwhelming. I saw an ad on TV and so I called them. When I first started out, they put it on on my tablet but I'm not a very good electronics person, so when they make progress on my debt they call me on the phone, and I appreciate it very much. I love it, I'm glad I did it. On my limited income it's a little tough to have it deducted from my bank account every month, but it's a lot cheaper than what I was paying before. I was paying $6700 a month on these debts that I have, and now I'm paying $300, so I'm happy. I did save quite a bit.

I was laid off and forced to retire early, and I didn't make enough money on unemployment to pay for all the credit card bills I had accrued. I think I saw an ad on the internet about Freedom Debt Relief. I called them, and no complaints, I'm pretty happy with how it's going. I got emails from them, and actual correspondence through the postal service, and they've been good at keeping in touch. They told me it's going to take a few years to pay all the debt off, but so far so good. From the first card they settled I think I saved a thousand dollars, and they're taking care of three others that they're dealing with, trying to get my debts down. I think it was a good decision, and I'm happy with their service.

I like how they have the online dashboard because it makes easier and visible for you to look at your information, unless you have to talk to somebody all the time, but mainly I like the fact that they do the work for you. I needed help with a couple of credit cards, and I would say they probably saved me almost 10 grand. They kept me up to date by email, which was very good for me because I'm a busy mom and care giver. I did have a bad experience where a gentleman called me from there, offering some kind of loan. He was being kind of pushy, and when he called me I was busy driving. I told him that I would have to call back, but he insisted, trying to explain the program, and he was actually kind of rude at one point. He told me that he couldn't see why I couldn't understand how the program works, so that was a bad experience.

I am still in my first year with FDR and I have to admit that getting started with negotiations with debtors has seemed ridiculously slow but am sure that it will get going faster as time goes on. At one point my FDR desktop showed debt number four would be negotiated in August to September of 2021 where, in fact, negotiations did not start until September and finalized until October. One other small negative remark is that on the first four debts negotiated were never sent to me for approval. They were simply done and I guess FDR believed I would have agreed to them anyway. My final gripe is that one debt I added after submitting the original 17 debts was entered at the bottom of the list to be negotiated whereas I thought it should be more at the top since the balance is very small ($200.00) and they either have written it off and I believe they might have submitted it to one of the big three Credit Reporting Agencies, namely TransUnion, Experian or Equifax. Now, in late October I am four months away from finishing paying my monthly payments for the first of four years into the program. After those mostly negative remarks I am very happy how things are going otherwise. The monthly debit from my checking account is right on time each month and never early or late. I also appears that the next two will be negotiated between now (October 2021) and January/February 2022. I don’t know where my credit score (Advantage) will be when these four years are past and all creditors will be paid as agreed, but I am hoping my credit score will be no less than what it was when I started this payment plan and agreed-to form of negotiation with FDR.

I had so many payments a month I was simply drowning in them. Joining freedom debt relief gave me a very manageable one time payment that I desperately needed. The downside was that my credit was completely trashed due to the credit card companies constantly penalizing me for light/non-payment. I went from having a 770 credit score to barely managing a 530. My largest count was a little over $8000 and it has taken 2 1/2 years to finally get that account resolved. Joining The program definitely helped at the time but in the long run I feel that it was definitely not worth it.

happy that 2 of my accounts reached a settlement; a bit surprised at the amount that the settlement fee came to, but understandable I guess. Also I wanted the past due credit card acc't. at my personal bank to be one of the 1st settlements because they also have where my money is deposited, but fdr explained to me how negotiations work and I understand - hope situation doesn't end up difficult however.

It can be a little confusing at times to eactly what I owe still and when I will be done with the program. Also it's a little steep to as how much your company takes each time a settlement is done. 25% is a lot. The whole reason I am in the program is to get things paid off because I'm struggling to get them paid off on my own. I think you need to charge a flat rate.

Reply from Freedom Debt Relief

Amber, we appreciate your honest feedback! We understand how the fees can seem high. However, if you compare our fees to 100% of the debt amount plus any interest and additional late/penalty fees if someone can't meet the monthly required minimum payment. We offer a proven solution at an affordable monthly cost that helps our client pay down their entire debt; principal, fees, interest and all. I have been with Freedom Debt Relief for over a year and a half. They did help me reduced 3/4 of my debts. Two of the personnel loans almost go to court, but Freedom Debt Relief did supply attorney to help me fight and reach agreements before we go to court. I highly recommend Freedom Debt Relief for anyone who needs to get out of their debts. Beware, you have not to pay your debts for a least 4-6 months before FDR will negotiate with your debts holders. Your credit rate will suffer and below 500. But, after your liability pays off, the credit rate will go up!

For the most part I am very happy with FreedomDebt Relief with one exception and that is the way they handled one account I asked them to take care of the account that I thought was the most important and they assured me that they would as they handled this company all the time so knew how to settle this without problem and since I had purchased legal representation I had no worries. In this one instance they let it go to court where judgement was placed on me. Other than that I feel they did a good job

I've tried the online chat and it's not very reliable. I prefer to talk to somebody in person. They did send me text message but only when they reached a settlement. They never kept in contact with me during negotiations and that made me a little uneasy. It does take a little bit longer than I would expect. When you think you might graduate, it doesn't necessarily mean anything because sometimes the negotiations take longer.

When you are faced against a bunch of debts, they are willing to negotiate and work with you. When you are in a situation like this with so many debts and one income coming out of one household it shouldn't do that much to your credit score because you're constantly faithfully making your payments in a long time and so forth. They should be able to negotiate with tha credit score, it just makes it look bad.

I think the customer service has been very helpful when I had questions and things like that. The guy who helped me when I first joined the program I thought was very helpful and he went above and beyond. When you join the program, the accounts go up in price and they charge you according to when you pay off the bill and they take their commission off of what the bill has become as opposed to what it was before when you started. For the most part I'm happy with the progress and the service I am receiving.

Sometimes they are in contact with me and other times it doesn't seem like they are. I saw a couple of different times, or at least one charge card, it could have turned out a lot better than it did. Instead of having to pay over a length of time, they were getting so much a month and it was going to take like two years to pay it off. I couldn't understand that.

Overall I was satisfied with the service I received from FDR. I would have liked to have been better informed on the consequences of when my creditors sell/cancel my debt, and how a 1099-C affects me. I'm not sure if FDR could have helped prevent the cancellation of debt by better communicating with my creditors. Debt cancellation sounds good, but it doesn't always have the most desired effect on future credit score.

Reply from Freedom Debt Relief

Thank you for your honest feedback, Cameron. We sincerely apologize if these possibilities were not shared with you in detail. Yes, the creditor(s) may decide to close any revolving credit accounts that are enrolled in our program. Keep in mind the the purpose of enrolling into our program is to resolve the debt you currently have and develop habits to prevent a large accumulation of debt again in the future. Therefore, having an open line of credit enrolled in the program defeats the intended goal. In some cases clients may receive a 1099C, which requires them to pay taxes on their forgiven debt. However, it is possible to avoid declaring the forgiven debt if a person meets the IRS's definition of liabilities exceeding assets at the time of settlement. Since FDR is not a tax consultant, we strongly encourage you to please contact your tax advisor if you have further questions about the options available to you. Thank you for choosing Freedom Plus as a guide to your debt-free future.

They were always very informative and quick to respond. They were constantly trying to help. They were passionate about doing their jobs. I got my payment reduced and I was able to work out an understanding with the debtors. There were a few times that were kind of long in returning the call, but one particular debt that I went to loan litigation kind of got shuffled on the sideline but they did their job and were very efficient.

FDR really helped me stay committed to paying the low monthly bill for my consolidated credit card bill. I enrolled 3 credit cards all of which I couldn't afford paying the minimum payments for each consistently and when I had a chance to pay a big chunk of the balance, I wasn't able to keep up with it. I've been in the program for almost 3 years. I am actually glad to have signed up for it since it's helped me so much. Hopefully if all goes as planned, I will be done and will graduate within a few weeks.

It's a lot of pressure off my shoulders knowing that I do not have to deal with this problem. They have been very open and they keep you informed. They're web tool is very good and if you don't go into it for a couple weeks it reminds you. You can track your accounts and your progress. The only thing I don't like is that their charges are very high so even though they say they are saving you fifty percent after their charges, they are only saving you about twenty five. It still is a lot easier than having all the pressure on you.

The guy that originally helped me was really really helpful and explained to me what the program did. I wish they would have explained a little bit more of the charges I was going to be charged. But that was okay. They helped me at a time when I needed help. The only problem that I've had with the customer service is their judgement that was filed against my husband on a credit card and we had to go to court instead of paying them to go for us so I wasn't very thrilled with that.

They get back to you in a decent amount of time. They're available by phone but email takes a little bit more time to get a response back, but it still is a decent amount of time. They would explain what the offer was and give me the option to accept that or decline it. I only wish they would offer a program where you could pay off your creditors in the beginning of your program so that you can start rebuilding your credit for while.

At first I was excited about doing this. Then as I looked at the portal and see what was going on I got really upset and felt I was deceived one way or another. For example if I had a balance of $5000 on a card and you negotiated in down by $2200 making it $2800, but then there's a fee of $1200, saving me only $1000. Then there are all the fees that are tagged on, wire transfer, check distributions and so on. I was just like wow...

Thank you very much for your review. At Freedom Debt Relief, we do our best to negotiate and resolve your accounts to the best of our ability. We strive to provide all of our clients with a 50 percent savings in comparison to making minimum payments to each account. We are confident you will see these significant savings throughout the program and we do take a fee, but not until a debt is resolved. The amount of the fee will vary depending on a client’s state of residence, total debt amount, etc. Typically, it ranges from 15% - 25% of total enrolled debt over the course of the program. For example, fees of 21% of enrolled debt in a 42 month program would work to about 6% per year annualized. This offers significant savings over other solutions, especially for those who would otherwise be making payments as agreed to their creditors at the interest rates they have when entering our program. All was great except for the lack of communication between freedom ,nllg and your clients. On two different occasions nllg didn't help us at all. In fact they left two accounts unaccounted. Then blamed us for the problem. No calls or anything to warn us before my wages was getting garnished and we had to borrow money to pay ourselves even though we had the account with freedom and them. Freedom should watch out for their clients best interest. Period. Over wise the program is not working the way it is intended.

I are told the length of time in the program was 46 months but it has be extended to60 plus months, and the fee are extremely. I appreciate the program but people are in the situation because they are in a financial bind. The fees and length of time in the program are the negative aspects of the program. I do understand the "settlement" process but the fees should be much less and the length of time in the program should be more accurately estimated.

We were over extended on the debt and were having financial problems with medical bills that we couldn't take. I needed to consolidate my bills and lower them so that I could actually pay them off. Since I was on a limited budget, I needed to go with them. If I want to get updates I can just look online to make sure they're doing progress but we probably should've communicated more verbally in the year and a half I've been with them. Still, we're alright and we're getting very good reports so far.

I do get emails, texts, and occasional calls with updates from them. They have been able to help me clear out my debt. I feel relieved now I don't have bills to pay.

At the time it sounded like it was a good solution for my problem and it sounded like they would work with me through-out it. Until recently they've kept me really well updated about the progress of things, but right now there are a few things that have not been resolved and I'm not sure exactly where we are with that. I feel like they have done a good job in resolving most of my debt problems though. They've helped me through with all. I'm glad I did it.
