Despite a little bump initially due to a plumber/ tech not responding to our initial request for service, we were pleased with the service by a replacement company… the professional interaction with Home Warranty staff and a very positive effort to get us back on track and taken care of. New water heater is a blessing and the sink leak is completely resolved. Not to mention the quick service fixing our furnace before all of this! Thank you!

We’ve been HWA customers for 11 years. The customer service has declined more each year. It is now automated, no live human to talk to when placing a claim. When we did need a major appliance replacement (dishwasher) it took 3 weeks before we had the new dishwasher installed. Some of the technicians have been questionably qualified. I’ve read their customer reviews and am baffled by why HWA would contract with them. It often takes several days before a tech can come out then there’s sometimes a delay in waiting for parts to be ordered and a return trip a week later. On the whole, HWA has repaired and covered what the contract says they will cover. They are just expensive and frustrating to deal with.

The only thing that I dislike is that I currently have a leaking drain pipe and so far they have sent out 2 different plumbers and now they are sending a third. However, the warranty won't tell me why they are sending different plumbers. I would like to know if they didn't want or couldn't do the job or if they were charging too much. I am in the dark on this one and it is really getting annoying because it has been going on for a month now and I have no resolution or approval/denial. All the rest of my claims were quickly taken care of and resolved.

Home warranty is worth it !!! At time we think well I’m not going to have an issue or this not going to happen to me and once it does you waste more money out of pocket to do it yourself or hire someone else to fix it. While with home warranty you make a claim then they get back to you and it covers . Just keep in mind they do have certain things in home that it covers so always double check which plan you have . Other than that , only a small fee has to be paid which is better than an overall cost . They will get in contact with you really quick and customer service is great with scheduling your appointment they will work with you . I would totally recommend it , especially for first time home buyers and keep renewing it .

I liked it. Here is a 'funny' story for the reader. I called because my Kenmore dryer stopped drying. Those things don't break down, but mine did. I tried along with another person to correct the issue before calling you, but not no luck. The friendly person came out to take a look and after pulling the appliance from the wall, he started to laugh. As it turns out the exhaust vent piping was extremely long and lint was clogging up the ventilation causing the dryer to fail. We laughed, I paid up and cleaned out the pipping after reducing the size and removing all the 'stuff'. The man was very friendly and I am grateful that it worked out okay!

It’s very difficult to get a service technician out in less than 3-5 days and Home Warranty of America will offer to let you pick your own but they will only refund a fraction of what you pay. It’s a trap so that they don’t have to do any work! Their representatives are rude. They overcharged me for 8 months and when it was figured out they didn’t even apologize the rep just wanted to argue about how much of a refund they owed me. The price i pay as well as the amount I have to pay when i need someone to come out keeps increasing. They treat their contractors horribly as well, paying late and sometimes only after a threat of not working with them any longer. I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone

They state that they only have to pay “covered costs” and they claim their cover costs are an amount which is ridiculously unreasonable (e.g., $1,000). No contractor can do the work for the amount that HWA says it costs, but HWA allows the contractors to charge for “non-covered costs”. HWA deals with shady contractors who then create “non-covered costs” with things like “bring up to code” and then they charge the difference between what HWA is paying and what it would reasonably cost to replace the appliance (e.g., $2,000). Neither HWA nor the contractors will provide the customers with any details or rationalization for how they arrived at these charges, so if the customer wants HWA to replace the appliance and pay for “covered costs” ($1,000) they are forced to pay the contractor out-of-pocket for “non-covered costs” (e.g., $2,000). As a result, the customer is actually paying the bulk of the expenses to replace the appliance instead of HWA, who is required to do so under their contract.

If I could rate this a zero, I would. The customer service has been absolutely awful. I was given an appointment to have my washer repaired (already paid the $100 deductible) and no one came. Then I was told it was rescheduled for today after waiting for 4 hours last time. The claim information still lists the first date and I have not heard from any vendor saying they are coming today. I don't know the vendor or any details who is supposed to come today - only your response to me that they are coming but the details on the claim have not been changed. I am sitting here with a washer that is not working properly and should be covered by the warranty. I have paid the deductible already to HWA and cannot seem to get anyone to care that we still don't have it repaired or communication that is correct. This is by far some of the worst customer service I have ever encountered.
