The coverage provided by HWA is very good. Plumbers, appliance repair people, AC technicians arrive, do their thing and all you pay is the service fee. The service for the initial claim and making appointments is frustratingly slow and unaccommodating.

Well , let's start with this is a joke , wanted us to void our manufacture warranty to do their joke of a fix for our ac problem, which cost us $1500 out of pocket , while the temps where 95 plus . Waste of money . Cost much more headache than what it's worth. And cost us double in the end.. do not purchase. We had considered buying again for peace of mind but after the 1 time we tried to use the warranty they wanted to put basically fix-a-flat in our ac coil it was over. They REFUSED to fix it per the tech's (that they recommended) insistence of replacement so we paid out of pocket... so what's the point to a "home warranty" when they only warranty the paper you signed NOT what they said they would. POINTLESS AND A WASTE OF OUR HARD EARNED MONEY!!!!!!!! If we could leave negative stars...we would.

Home warranty is worth it !!! At time we think well I’m not going to have an issue or this not going to happen to me and once it does you waste more money out of pocket to do it yourself or hire someone else to fix it. While with home warranty you make a claim then they get back to you and it covers . Just keep in mind they do have certain things in home that it covers so always double check which plan you have . Other than that , only a small fee has to be paid which is better than an overall cost . They will get in contact with you really quick and customer service is great with scheduling your appointment they will work with you . I would totally recommend it , especially for first time home buyers and keep renewing it .

I liked it. Here is a 'funny' story for the reader. I called because my Kenmore dryer stopped drying. Those things don't break down, but mine did. I tried along with another person to correct the issue before calling you, but not no luck. The friendly person came out to take a look and after pulling the appliance from the wall, he started to laugh. As it turns out the exhaust vent piping was extremely long and lint was clogging up the ventilation causing the dryer to fail. We laughed, I paid up and cleaned out the pipping after reducing the size and removing all the 'stuff'. The man was very friendly and I am grateful that it worked out okay!

on my second time using my new policy I was told that the garage door opener belt, which was broken. It’s not covered because it is not regular wear and tear even though the technician that came out and charged me $100 noted that it is normal wear and tear. Will not be renewing my policy.

It took over a month to get out A/C fixed, due to continuous vendor delays, lack of communication on all sides, and eventually required to pay over $1K in non-covered items, that are listed as covered in the top tier plan. No one could give a list or invoice of those items. We felt like we're held hostage and agreed to pay to avoid pushing into the 5th week (in TX summer, 2 of the weeks the temps were 100-109°F daily!)

I tried to use them to replace my water heater. They moved slowly, had terrible communication, limited business hours, call-center representatives with limited English language skills and no ability to make decisions. After a week with no movement, I finally bought a water heater and paid a local plumber service to install it, at $650 lower than the price of the technician that they provided. Totally useless.

I called about a leak in my front lawn not realizing that it wasn’t covered in my policy and the customer service representative on the phone with me was very helpful when explaining to me where in my contract it was stated. I was disappointed and it probably transferred to my speech but she was still very professional when speaking with me so I can’t complain.

I was pleasantly surprised to hear that Choice is now the "sister" company. After 10 years of paying monthly payments for coverage, this was the first time in a very long time that a service provider was scheduled to come out right away. He solved my oven heating problem the next day with the new replacement heating coil. The calls I have made in the past with HWA were difficult. It would take several calls to get a service provider scheduled, then, there are many providers that wouldn't work with HWA due to past negative experiences on their part.

When smaller and non-emergency issues have occurred, HWA has been responsive and easy to work with. I've had claims on my dishwasher and garbage disposal for example. When the issue in question is more costly and urgent, however, they were horribly slow and non-responsive. My A/C went out in July in Arizona and it took 6 weeks for me to get the issue resolved and have A/C again. The costs I incurred in the meantime for alternate A/C sources and hotels far exceed any benefit I got from having a home warranty. It felt as if they were purposely dragging their feet and going slow knowing that I couldn't live without A/C and would just give up on them and buy one myself. It was literally a life or death situation and they couldn't be bothered.

I contacted the company regarding an issue with my dishwasher. A technician came to assess the problem and informed me that he would need to return with spare parts to complete the repair. However, when I tried to get an update on when he would be back, I was told that the parts were difficult to obtain and that it would take time. When I reached out to HWOA to see if the process could be expedited through another provider, I was suddenly sent a rejection message, stating that the issue was due to physical damage. This conclusion was drawn solely because the part is difficult to obtain! I contacted the technician company again, and they confirmed in writing that the technician's initial report was incorrect. The damage to the dishwasher is due to normal usage, not physical damage. It feels like the customer has no one to talk to, and no one is willing to listen or resolve the issue. Ultimately, I, as the customer, am at a loss simply because the spare part is hard to get! The poor customer service and the lack of anyone to address my concerns is why I will not recommend this insurance company to any of my friends!

Better than most other warranty companies I’ve tried but still super difficult. They never want to payout or replace anything even when it’s a 17 year old refrigerator with multiple bad parts. Left me in limbo after two claims that someone came out and said the compressor was bad but guess that was too expensive so they did nothing at all. The third time I paid my fee to send someone, they finally worked with us after the tech reported three different parts that aren’t even available for purchase anywhere anymore. Still took weeks to authorize to pay me $900 hahaha. So I can now afford a portable fridge to replace my stainless steel, French door in the main kitchen but not a single fridge of standard size and spec would come close to that price. Oh, a month later and my check for $900 still hasn’t shown up. Roughly 15 hours of phone time and face to face with techs is required of a home owner for every claim. Good luck!

Thank you for asking for feedback. We have found that filing a claim is exceptionally easy! That is a very good thing. Unfortunately, we’ve also found that the vendors are usually the lowest bitter. We’ve had two good visits and one no-show, reschedule, no-show again. This has frustrated us. That is why we are not exceptionally happy with the vendor choice. The process is easy, the communication is sometimes difficult because the claims representatives speak English with a very heavy accent. We noticed that all the sales people are American and speak American English.

I've never had a problem over the last 6-7 years as a customer. I heard HWA was bought out. I'm not sure if that's the case but something has changed. My HVAC had an issue. The tech comes and says what needs to be replace. HWA only wants to cover 1 of the 2 parts because they say it was secondary damage. Actually I was told by a manager that he was have denied the whole claim. I said how do you know you have an issue until it happens and how do you know what is wrong into the tech comes to look at it. How is it my fault a second part failed due to the first one. He said I don't disagree but that's how the plan is. I have the best plan HWA offers and I'm still out about $300. I'm about ready to just cancel my policy after this.

I wish I could have selected NO STARS. They are glad to take your money and sign you up for a home warranty, but then deny you on your one and only claim. We specifically told the sales representative that the three items in the home that we were concerned about were the AC Unit, the Furnace and the Hot Water tank as they were older, but were all currently working fine. She said no problem and signed us up. The Hot Water tank started to leak shortly after purchasing the policy, called the representative who said to start a claim! We did! The claim was denied! They said it was because the hot water tank had rust in it, so that was a pre-existing condition. My response was “All hot water tanks would have rust in them, no matter how old they were. Rust exists to certain degree on any tank! They refused to cover it! So not am I out the initial premium, but also the $100 deductible that I had to pay the plumber who came out to assist with the claim! RUN FAR AWAY FROM THIS BOGUS COMPANY!

I placed a repair concern 4 weeks ago. I am still waiting on a contractor or the company to contact me. I have home warranty insurance to repair what needs to be repaired and I feel a 4 week wait to fix my a/c duct work is not acceptable! I went into my attic and did a temporary fix before I placed my order. This is not the first time I was expected to find my own contractor and then submit to HWA for approval on service. I have had appliance repairs which I am happy with. It’s the lack of a/c & heating service that I am disappointed in

The last time I had to use my warranty, it was a disaster. The technician they sent out didn't have a clue how to fix the problem, and when he couldn't figure it out, he just disappeared. The last repair I had done on my oven was good. The technician was friendly and professional. Appointment for diagnosing the problem was done within a week. Parts were ordered and the repair was done 2 weeks later. However, the claim I submitted before this one, where I had a leak under my kitchen sink was horrible!! It took over 6 weeks just to assign the claim. A week or so later an appointment was set up to diagnose the problem. The technician was supposed to show up between 8 am and 3 pm. He showed up at 5 pm. No "I'm sorry I'm late," nothing. I needed a new faucet. He said he could come back the next day at noon. I went out and bought a faucet. He never showed up the next day. Never called. Nothing. He showed up the following day at 6 pm. I told him to leave, we were canceling his service. I called HWA and told them to assign me another technician. Took awhile to get another plumber scheduled. I did finally get the new faucet put in. I had been using a bucket under my sink for 3 months.

Since I have had HWA, I have filed 5 claims. They paid me $700 for a $2,000 oven, a top of the line microwave and a dishwasher. I still have the broken oven (I bought a toaster oven and put it on the kitchen counter. I bought a cheap microwave to replace the built-in one they refused to fix.) I had to buy a new dishwaher. They finally did fix the last claim I made, the furnace. I'm not happy with them, they say they can't fix things because they're too old. They just deny.

I would give zero stars if it was an option. I filed a claim for a leak in my washing machine and other issues came up in the time it took for the technician to come out. When I first called in to ask about this, I was told to add it to the same claim so the information was recorded. Since this was my first time using a home warranty policy, I did not know I had to specifically record every single issue and that the technician would include all of their findings in their report. Later I was told that because this information was not included in my original claim for the same appliance, I was told I needed to file a separate claim (which would come with an additional fee) for them to look into it further. I was then told that they would have the technician look into the second issue the next time they were at my property; the technician who came to my property twice, told me twice about the issue both times stating that it was his recommendation to make the repair, but Home Warranty of America is stating that they do not have any information indicating a problem about this specific issue. However, they will not provide me with the technicians report to actually show this. They also backtracked to indicate that the issue they did repair was not actually covered, but they did as a courtesy (they also offered me a small amount of money for it if I wanted to purchase a new machine instead, which doesn't sound like something you do as a "courtesy") which was never mentioned the entire time and only communicated after the repair was done. Clearly this company does not have any integrity since they continue to actively lie to me and I don't know why I bothered to get a policy at all.
