You asked for a review I’ll give you one. I’ve been trying to get your company to come out and repair my solar system since Early June. The first time your repair person went to the wrong address then told me that scheduling would call and set up a new appointment. Three weeks later I called and made a new appointment. I changed my schedule so I was available between 7am and 10am when no one showed up by 10:30 I called customer service and was told that I didn’t have an appointment until I told them the date , time and the name of the person I talked to. Then there story changed to they did not have the equipment to get on my metal roof. I asked if they installed solar panels on roofs and he said yes I asked how they got on the roofs. He said a ladder. I said you have ladders to get on roofs then why can’t you get on my roof to fix my system. He then hung up. Now last week a got an email wanting me to call to schedule an appointment for them to come and repair my system . When I called the man I talked to apologized for the problems I’ve had. He then ask me for some dates that I would be available I gave he about 5 or 6 dates he said that someone would contact me in a few days with the date that they would come. It’s been a week and the only thing I have received is two text messages asking me to rate there service. I had to put 1 star because 1. They won’t let me leave comments with out a rating. 2. They don’t have a negative star scale if they did it would be -10 stars.

Wow! I have an ongoing issue with my Sunnova solar system that consumers should know about.  Birds live under the solar panels and have caused damage to my roof, the areas around my house and my cars (covered in bird poop), and my sleep (the birds make noises all night).  As the homeowner I do not own the system and can’t touch it.  Sunnova owns it and has an easement on my roof.  Pest control / roofing services will not remove the birds because they understandably don’t want to be responsible for damaging solar the system.  Sunnova says its my problem…but I don’t have the legal right to touch their system.  I was forced to buy my house with the solar system installed as lease. I feel like I’m being held hostage!  Every morning from 4am and sometime after midnight the birds will kick for over an hour or so. We do have a critter guard. Your tech informed us in person that they will fix the problem. But there is always an excuse. Your company should be sued by every homeowner. Sunnova should be in court for these wrong doing. Oo and your customer service, undoubtedly the worse. It has been over 10 months and I am still fighting with them.

2 stars for good email communication(responds within a day or so). Other than that, wold give less stars. My system was placed in service weeks ago, yet after I log into their www site, it says ‘no data’. Their customer service response to my query was “it takes up to 90 days to connect”. Excuse me?!?? Is this 1990? Are you using technology from the 90s?! Up to 90 days?!! Pathetic. So much for your ‘integrated monitoring system’ and customer satisfaction.

the early part of the process went smoothly thanks to john r but once it came to getting the solar panels installed there was a huge communication breakdown. people showed up at my house with no advance notice, email messages have gone unanswered, and a week after my system has been operational i have yet to see any information about my solar panel output.

Solar Customer

Sunnova installed a solar system with a Tesla battery. The system was misconfigured (Tesla Powerwall support informed me that it was missing a “CT”). That is not the end of the world.. nobody is perfect. I had to call Tesla Powerwall support to identify the problem. I reported the problem to Sunnova and they scheduled a maintenance visit. The technicians were not familiar with the newest version of the Tesla hardware and they did their best. I monitored the system for a few days and noticed a different problem. I contacted Tesla Powerwall support and they said the CT was installed backwards. I don’t know what that means but I passed the information to Sunnova support. After a week, Sunnova has not scheduled another maintenance visit and they don’t even have an ETA. I called a few more times to escalate the case and the representatives are unable to schedule maintenance visits or transfer calls to supervisors. The first tier support operators only take notes and share them with the Operations department. They do not escalate any issues or schedule any appointments. They have no visibility into the next steps. They are a voicemail service for the internal second tier support team. The purchase contract includes support for 25 years. They were paid up front for the solar system. Based on my experience, I would suggest finding a different solar provider.

After speaking to my sales rep about solar I decided to go ahead and have it installed. I chose to go the ppa route but was told that if I changed my mine to purchase the system via financing before the system was completed and hooked up that I could change . I notified my sales rep and the company he worked for that I want to purchase the system and system is completed and running and I am still waiting for word on whether if they changed for me to purchase. In the meantime I have been charged my first ppa payment. I would like to rectify this situation.

Terrible company. Installation took forever. Finally, after a year, the panels are installed and inspected- but guess what? They're not turned on. All summer, these panels are dead, sitting on my roof. Yet, these fools want to bill me before the service is even turned over. Why should i pay for something that i dont know is working? Totally regretting this decision. Terrible customer service, terrible timeline. The salesman, Alexander was helpful. Once it was out of his hands, it's been a nightmare. The installers, once here, were fast and efficient. The inspector(non-affiliated) was fast and efficient. Everything else? Terrible.

This is the worst company I have ever had to deal with. You go in and change documents and claim that I signed documents that I never signed. Every time the monthly billing amount gets changed back to $102 you guys go in there and change it back to $108.61. I have not paid a bill yet because you guys decided you're going to charge me $15 extra if I don't do a deduction from my checking account. I have offered to pay in any other way except that but you will not accept any other type of payment without charging an extra $15 claiming it's a $15 discount if I have it automatically deducted from my checking account. You guys don't know how to do math! It was a $15 discount you'd be deducting it from the $102 instead of trying to tag on an extra charge to someone who has only agreed to pay the $102.00 a month.

My system was turned on 9 days ago and I still can’t see if my system is meeting it’s full potential on the app or the online portal. First rep told me it would take 4-5 business days. I waited until day 6 and called again that rep said it takes 6-8 weeks to see the system functioning. So far I’m second guessing going with this company for solar. I’ve emailed again and its been 2 days and still no response.

I signed up with Trinity Solar. The Trinity salesperson made lots of promises; I stupidly did not ask for the promises to be put on paper. After they were installed, I was told I'd be serviced by Sunnova. Of course those promises were all lies and without proof I wasn't able to do anything about it. On May 14 of 2023, something broke with the system and it completely stopped production. The panels were completely offline and producing nothing from 5/14-6/4. I received an email on 5/25, TEN DAYS LATER, that a work order was created. On June 5, I received an email that my service visit would take place the same day, June 5, between 10A and 1P. I have security video that shows the tech was at my home from about 11:45am-1:00pm. I also have videos showing him going from my home to his truck with a big white box, and then from his truck back to my home with a different big white box. He told my husband he replaced the Photovoltaic Inverter. Obviously something was broken and he replaced this. I can provide the footage if necessary. The system then did something from 6/5 until 6/13, but it does not seem it was producing yet. Production started again fully on 6/14. This means that for about ONE MONTH my panels were broken and no one knew anything about it. Sunnova didn't notice until at least 10 DAYS after it stopped producing because they obviously don't monitor the systems like they say they do.  On July 20, I spoke with Isaac at about 1pm because United Illuminating charged me $100.95 for electricity in July. Isaac told me that his system showed that the tech wrote that he only did something small to the system. THAT IS A BLATANT LIE! I have the video proof that the tech did much more than that, including replacing the entire photovoltaic inverter according to the video. I REFUSE to be responsible for the electric bill. Isaac basically told me too bad, so sad, we can't do anything. Don't believe their lies, there are much better companies out there.

SolarEdge emailed us saying we needed to have our inverter replaced. They sent the new inverter and contracted with Sunnova to do the installation. The Sunnova technician said he didn’t have a cellular kit to put in the new inverter so it could communicate with SolarEdge and the app but that he would get one and return. I never saw him again. After talking to SolarEdge, they said there would have been one in the old inverter he could have transferred— I know that one worked because it communicated with the app just fine before the switch. When I called Sunnova to tell them the problem, they said there were no notes on the call so I would have to schedule and pay for a call. I called SolarEdge and they gave me a similar answer. I do not recommend either company.

So many things went wrong with this experience it is hard to know where to start. Our neighbor's sunroof was damaged and the workers tried to hide it, then broke our back gate trying to get roof access while not informing us or the neighbors, nothing was scheduled. Then things got worse. There was a lack of organization, communication and simple courtesy. Our gate is still damaged, they left big dirty spots on our freshly painted walls, and a lamp that is irreplaceable was damage. We haven't heard one word about any of these things being replaced or repaired.

I have to say it would be very challenging for me to imagine a worse way to treat a customer. I have had an open case with them for 7 months now regarding my solar system. I have exposed wires underneath a panel that causes the system to trip constantly. If I am not playing technician myself and constantly resetting the breaker then my panels don't produce! Its very annoying. But somehow Sunnova made it even worse! Ive had to call in about 30 times and explained my situation over the 7 months. Each time a new rep and another time waste having to explain my issue. Here are the top hits that get repeated on every call: - Im sorry to hear that (not really sorry) - I can expedite this so my supervisor can review it (Expediting does NOTHING) - Im sorry I cant transfer you to anyone else (Who designed this torture system) - Ill have a supervisor call you back (only happened 3 out of the 30 calls. WAY TO GO 10% sucess rate!) - I promise to get a further update for you. Ill call you back in 3 - 5 business days (NEVER CALLS BACK!) I have been forced to chase them around for 7 months to try and get someone to fix my issue. I am truly left helpless and all I can do is find every solar company review site and warn EVERYONE TO STAY AWAY! I unfortunately bought this house and inherited the contract. I might have bought a totally different house knowing how horrible this company is. STAY AWAY!!!

I was so excited to get started with solar. We invested with power home solar. So far a total waste of money. They were installed December of 2021. Since then, power home solar has gone bankrupt. These panels Still don’t perform like advertised. Technicians have been out a handful of times and I’m not sure what they did. Every time they tell us they are working when they leave. Then later, no different. We are paying 70.000.00$ for roof decoration! We still pay full power bills, we never received any income tax relief, and the battery says it’s full, but doesn’t work in an outage. I am so disappointed!

Our sales guy was great but our installation was disorganized and took way too long. Your scale below only offers 1-2 months as the maximum time between signing a contract and installation completed ours took over 4 months. From the time the installation it was 5 weeks before it was completed..not including inspections.

Horrible is the only word I can think of. There is absolutely no communication with anyone. We were told dates that the process was supposed to get started turns out nothing was scheduled because of multiple email chains so it was just easy to tell me a date and just say it got pushed back the day of. The contractors or the tree removal were completely unprofessional and were told the wrong tree to cut down. The roofers did terrible work. They didn't even finish it, it took me calling to get them to come back out. They got tar everywhere. I reached out to our sales rep, abound it and some of the flat roof is coming off. No response. The roof is so bad I'm looking into what legal options I have becauseof how bad everywhereis. For the amount of money this is/I have to pay per month, I expect everything to be done professionally, not random subpar contractors. I would never recommend going through this company. This is only the shorter version, I can go on and on how badly I was treated.

Do you want to know my opinion about the work your company has done on my home? They didn't, simple as that. I waited 3 weeks for the technician to come to my house. I transferred my work to the afternoon because they were supposed to be coming between 7:00 to 10 am. They didn't show up, and to my surprise at 10.10 am I called your company asking why the technician hadn't arrived to my surprise your company computer the work was already finished at 9:16 am and everything was working 100 percent. What a shame why no one showed up. I spent a week of extreme stress as each of your employees kept telling me that my case was closed. I called solar edge to talk to them and they can't do anything. 2 months paying the electricity and also the solar bill. The reverser which new in the box. What do you want me to answer?? A piece of crap, yes. I'm not satisfied at all.

Their customer service is among the worst. We had billing issues and spent over a year trying to straighten them out. We tried on numerous occasions to speak to a supervisor and were given several different excuses as to why they couldn't connect us. I just spent several minutes demanding to speak to a supervisor and the person continually insisted that I needed to give her more information as to why I needed to speak to one. I finally threatened to go to the better business bureau and was put on hold for several minutes, someone came on who said he was the supervisor. We were finally able to find several issues that need to be corrected. After a year, it looks like we may finally have found the problems but we will see what happens next month since they claimed to have things fixed each of the last several years.

STAY AWAY FROM SUNNOVA AT ALL COSTS!!!!! There entire customer service and billing plan seems to be to wait people out until they surrender. Sunnova didn't do any installation for us, but we have a loan from them for our Solar panels that is right at $35,000. Our panels were installed in 2019. We had no issues during the first couple of years of our business relationship, but in November of 2022 when I logged into the state exchange to sell our solar credits for cash, I found out that something was broken in our system. We had generated 11.183 MWh from the beginning of September 2021 through the end of September 2022. The going rate of 11 MWh of energy in 2022 for me was $227 per credit, meaning that my wife and I, as well as my two young children are owed $2497. I called my solar company and they sent someone out to see what was wrong with my system, and figured out that an inverter was broken and needed to be replaced. When that was replaced, my old credits disappeared with the inverter. Additionally, the inverter breaking meant that even though we were generating solar energy every day, my Solar Edge panel showed 0 MWh generated for the months of October 2022 through the end of January 2023. The solar company officially replaced the inverter on February 6, 2023, and on February 8, 2023, I reached out to Sunnova’s customer service via email, formally trying to file a loss of production claim. The terms of my signed contract with Sunnova are quite clear that they are the provider and that they would provide a loss of production guarantee and that this would be within the 30 days. I have received specific promises over the phone and via email from customer service and resolution specialists who start off making me feel like this is going to be resolved soon, to then reverse course with weeks of ignoring my phone calls and emails. They approved $929.40 on April 12, 2023, for the 10/2022 – 01/2023 production case. I have asked repeatedly where this money is, and I keep getting ignored or told things are still pending. In the first week of June, I got conflicting emails from two different agents at Sunnova: one told me my case was closed and another it was still pending. I call customer service on a weekly basis, as recently as 6/14/23, and am told the same thing every time, “we sent a message to the billing department regarding your complaints and requests and are sorry for the inconvenience. Someone will reach out to you.” And it never happens, I call back every week. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GO WITH ANYONE BUT SUNNOVA!

Decent company I could have been assisted more along the way setting up my srec-II incentives. I just think that’s not much to ask for when you’re being told about all the incentives throughout the entire process then the system is installed. People got paid and you’re left with very little help setting these perks up.
