Each Home Medical Alert System includes a base unit and one to two waterproof emergency buttons with a wrist or pendant option.

Options to Suit Every Lifestyle

Whether you're seeking security in the comfort of your own home or you're looking for something to support your mobile lifestyle, Medical Alert has you covered.

With all products, a simple push of the panic button connects you instantly to a highly trained emergency response operator who determines and sends the help you need — anytime, anywhere. Whether you've suffered a serious injury or simply want to notify a caretaker of your whereabouts, help is standing by.

All systems come with a backup battery so you're protected in the case of a power outage. Each wearable system is also incredibly lightweight and waterproof, so you can even wear the emergency buttons in the shower where accidents frequently occur.

Home System

Medical Alert's Home System has a two-way speakerphone alarm base that works with or without a landline and includes lightweight wrist and neck buttons. Just press the help button on any system, and an operator will respond immediately.

Setting up the Home System is simple. You plug the base station unit into a wall outlet to power it up, connect the phone cord (if your system requires a landline), and then turn it on. That's it.

Mobile System

Medical Alert's Mobile System is made for those who want the guarantee of help wherever they are. The system uses GPS technology to identify your location if there is an emergency. It includes a handheld mobile system, lightweight bracelet, lanyard buttons, carrying case, charging cradle, and cord. Just press the help button on any system to reach an operator.

The Mobile System is also extremely easy to set up. Just make sure the mobile system is fully charged. Once it's charged, you'll want to test the system by pushing the emergency button.

Extended Battery Life

The Medical Alert System's battery life lasts up to three years and is easily replaced if it is ever low. A backup battery works for up to 72 hours on Home Medical Alert Systems. The Mobile system battery life lasts up to 36 hours before needing to be recharged on the base unit.

No Hidden Fees

Unlike many alert companies, with Medical Alert, you won't be hit with any activation, installment or equipment fees. You also won't have to sign any long-term contracts. This is a great contrast to some other companies in the medical alert industry that rope customers into long-term contracts that can cost hundreds to buy out of.

Medical Alert offers a 30-day, risk-free Money-Back Guarantee. If you aren't satisfied with its service, you can cancel without penalty and without paying the first monthly fee.

Medical Alert Pricing

Medical Alert is one of the most affordable medical monitoring system companies on the market. You can pay a monthly fee, or you can opt for a semi-annual or annual plan, but you'll get the best rate if you pay annually:

  • Home (Landline) — Starts at $19.95 per month
  • Home (Cellular) — Starts at $29.95 per month
  • Mobile — Starts at $39.95 per month

Optional automatic fall detection is available for an additional $10 monthly fee. This will be tacked on to your original monthly cost. Medical Alert also offers a protection plan for any product for just $1 extra per month.

If you order today, you’ll get FREE ground shipping and one FREE month of service with any annual plan.

30-Day Money-Back Guarantee

If you aren't satisfied with Medical Alert's services, you can return your devices for a full refund — no penalties, no fine print. Since there are no long-term contracts, you can cancel at any time. Customers can enjoy some peace of mind knowing that they can try Medical Alert's services risk-free and have a trial period to decide if the medical alert service is the right one for them.

Optional Fall Detection

Medical Alert's emergency services include optional fall detection on any medical alert system. The automatic fall detection technology will detect a fall if you are unable to press the button. The advanced technology is built into a special pendant and can be added to any plan for just $10 per month.

This unique feature is ideal for those at risk of falling, having a heart attack or seizure, or experiencing a medical emergency that might result in a fall. It provides peace of mind not just to the user, but also to his or her family members.

Medical Alert Connect App

It's not uncommon for medical alert companies to have caregiver tools, but Medical Alert takes it a step further by providing its own free, easy-to-use caregiver app. The Medical Alert Connect App is available for all Medical Alert customers. Whether you're the medical alert user, a loved one, or a caregiver, you can use the Connect App to check the medical alert system status, its contact list, as well as the system's testing schedule (the test schedule is when Medical Alert will regularly test the system to ensure it's working properly).

The app allows for multiple users, so if you have more than one medical alert system, such as for a spouse, you're able to use the app for both systems. The app sends instant notifications if a system is in use and also specifies whether it's a test or if it's an emergency. You can also contact Medical Alert directly through the Connect App. The app also has location monitoring, so you can locate the system and its user(s) at any time.

24/7 Certified Monitoring Centers

Medical Alert offers 24/7 professional monitoring by highly trained, multilingual, SIA-Certified operators. The company has full redundant, U.S.-based, UL-certified monitoring centers, and provides coverage in all 50 states as well as Canada, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.

In case of an emergency, the SIA-certified operator will dispatch the appropriate help for a customer's situation. Just press the emergency button on the medical alert device and the base station will send a signal to the monitoring center.

A customer from Washington highlights the prompt service he's received from the monitoring centers and customer service:

Customer Review: James from Federal Way, WA

"Whenever I make a mistake and push it, they always ask me if I am okay or if anyone around me needs any assistance. I check it every month to make it is working and it works every month. When you call customer support, they satisfy you promptly, they don't mess around because they care about being efficient."

The Bad

  • Lost or Damaged Equipment Fee
  • No Activity Monitoring

Lost or Damaged Equipment Fee

Since you lease the equipment from Medical Alert, you are responsible for covering the cost of lost or damaged devices. This can cause added stress, especially for those prone to losing things.

However, Medical Alert offers a protection plan for any panic button and alert system to ensure fast replacement of parts. The protection plan covers in-home and mobile systems and prevents out-of-pocket expenses of up to $350.

The protection plan is currently only $1 extra per month, which is on the cheaper end when compared to other medical alert companies who typically charge $5 extra per month.

No Activity Monitoring

Medical Alert's monitoring service does not include activity monitoring, although most customers prefer the simplicity of the unit if they purchased them for safety. The units also don't connect directly to a smartphone. So consumers who want to track loved ones have to download an app, but the app is free to all customers and it includes GPS tracking. You can read Medical Alert reviews below to see if this negatively affected past medical alert customers.

The Bottom Line

Medical Alert offers a full suite of affordable, easy-to-use products designed to keep you safe at home and on the go. Medical Alert offers optional fall detection, an invaluable service through which a highly trained emergency response operator is automatically notified of a fall even if a user cannot push the help button.

Medical Alert products are lightweight, waterproof, and extremely reliable. The company has quality customer support and affordable prices, making them a great choice for those looking for safety, security, and ultimate peace of mind

This is definitely a brand to be given top consideration when looking for a personal emergency response system. Read Medical Alert reviews below to see what customers have to say about the company.

I had only had Medical Alert 4 months, when I fell in my closed garage on 11/13/2019. My left hip was broken, and i could not get up. I pressed my Medical Alert bracelet. They contacted my daughter in Dallas, Texas, my niece locally, and within 20 minutes the responders were here. They were able to use the hidden key to gain entry, found me, and got me to ER. Without the Medical Alert, who knows how long it might have been before I was found!

I called to get some type of paperwork on a $15 monthly charge that I am paying. I had previously called when the charge started with no response. This time I did get the paperwork on the Premium Protection Plan which covered $10 but not anything covering the remaining $5 Charge. I called again today 10/9 and have been told that paperwork will be put in the mail. I do think that I should have received this info at the time I agreed to the charges without my having to request it. Note that the call was just about the paperwork and was by phone so your question about time of response below doesn't apply. My use of the devise for an actual fall has received prompt response for all but one instance where it took several tries to connect. One of reasons that I went with your system was the lockbox feature. I am now seeing info on systems that don't require recharging that I might have wanted. Also would like to be able to contact you on-line for issues like this.

My mom is 95 and lives alone. She had fallen before we purchased Medical Alert. This purchase was a great investment due to her recent fall. When her fall occurred, MA responded immediately. They talked to my mom who was not very responsive. Next, MA called the local rescue squad and my sister (I live out of town.). MA gives me peace of mind knowing that my mom is being monitored 24/7! MA was worth the investment.

I returned a call to an agent for assistance with a billing issue, but the person who answered was not the one who had originally called me. Despite that, I explained that there were unfamiliar charges on my father’s debit card and I needed some clarification. The agent was incredibly rude, condescending, and dismissive. Rather than listening to my concerns, he was quick to argue and insist that I was mistaken. I could also hear a TV in the background, which led me to believe he was working from home, rather than in a professional office setting. I’m not one to lose my temper easily, but his attitude pushed me to the point where I had to let him know how unprofessional and unhelpful he was. What upset me even more was thinking about how my 84-year-old disabled father would have been treated if he had made that call. This kind of disrespectful behavior is completely unacceptable, and it's disappointing that someone in a customer-facing role, even a collections agent, would treat people this way. Good customer service is built on courtesy, patience, and empathy—qualities this agent clearly lacks. I strongly urge the company to reevaluate the agents they employ and ensure that anyone who interacts with customers is held to a higher standard of professionalism and basic human decency.

The representatives are friendly and knowledgeable. The 3 star rating is based on the worrisome calls repeated daily to try and get me to add more features. The message is very condescending in that they are asking to update my credit card ASAP. Although I've called several time asking to stop calling, I still get the calls.

I did my research and picked Medical Alert for their excellent ratings by independent raters. Then I got a really good price for all I received--including a door lock. They have been responsive when I asked for a new cord for my button, and have always answered very quickly when I have called with questions. I recommend this company.

I paid for a year, and less than a month later, I tested it, and it didn't work. I was pressured to spend additional money monthly to get them to "turn the signal back on so it would work." It was obvious what had been done. I was called at least two more times to upgrade. Constant upselling! I thought that when I signed up, it included fall detection. I will not renew and will look at other options after my year is up.

My Mother seems to be very satisfied with this system and has used it once. I like that if she loses power in her rural home that she can still have access to someone should she need help. Wh y I did not give a5 star review is because after paying for a full year service starting April 2024, someone called my Mother at her home to lock in her price for just $15.00 , which I was told her annual price is locked in for two years. We have cancelled the extra fee. We will revisit this again if the price goes up in two years, but my Mom did not understand nor even remembered doing this.

Funny, as I was dismantling my old Medical Alert box, I dropped the plug, then dropped the unit as I tripped over the wires and fell. I hit my orbital bone and nose on the floor which resulted in the mother of all black eyes. I did get the new unit properly installed, and the fall detector is working fine. I tested everything, telling the person who called that it was a test and everything was fine. The fire department life support unit and an ambulance with EMTS showed up at my house a few hours later, just checking that I was OK. They said it was a service and there was no charge. It was my second fall of the week, the first fall resulted in a trip to the emergency facility. I had a broken rib. Luckily I have not fallen since.

Since I've had my Medical Alert bracelet, I have accidentally set it off and response was immediate and insistent. I was sound asleep at 4:30 a.m. and was awakened by what sounded like someone talking just outside my window. While I was drowsy, the "person talking" got progressively louder until I got up to investigate. The lady on the unit was polite and explained my unit had alerted, she agreed it was an accidental alert and she wished me a good night. I'm impressed and would readily recommend this product anywhere I thought someone might benefit from having it. It simply makes me feel safer in case of a fall or accident in my home.

I have previously called about an issue where the alert button says "battery charged" at the most awkward an inappropriate times (i.e. during church, funerals, meetings, etc. ) Because I can't trust it, I have to remove it from my person and place in my purse where it's likely to be muffled and less obvious to be heard in quiet settings.

When I accidentally pushed my medical alert button in my jeans pocket by leaning into a table and didn't yet know how to stop the call, we had two EMTS coming through our front door within minutes by accessing the lockbox outside near the door. It was all very impressive both the response time and the attitude of the two responding techs.

I got this for my 92 year old mother after a near fatal battle with Covid. She’s actually used it once already, and I have to give them high marks for the expeditious service they provided. They called the ambulance and then me, and though I’m only 5 minutes from her, the EMT’s were already in the house and attending to her before I got there! High marks for that! So why did I only give 3out of 5 stars? That’s due to the relentless hounding that their sales staff hammers you with after the purchase! Calling under the auspices of “have you tested your pendant lately?”, the call quickly turns into a sales pitch to get you to buy add ons! Two weeks after my mother used hers in a situation that had her transported to the hospital, the sales people called once again saying “the pendant hasn’t been tested or used!”. Once again, just an ill researched attempt to make another sale!

I'm happy with the medical alert except for one thing that bothers me (1) I wear it all time as instructed. (2) I have both the pendant and the wrist bracelet, but I am a Decorative Artist and I paint large decorative items such as chairs, end tables, trunks, etc., which require moving them around, etc. to paint them. In the process, I have very frequently accidentally brushed them and set off the alarm. I live alone and the base is downstairs so I do not know I've done it until the ambulance and attendants are at my door. This could so easily be prevented if the button on my person could make a sound or beep when accidentally set off and I could cancel it. It makes no sound and I cannot hear the alert from upstairs in my studio. This has happened 10 or 12 times in the last couple of years. I do however appreciate the prompt response the teams give to the alarms. In the event it was a necessay alert they are very quick, responsive and so caring.

The button is a little to sensitive for me, I think people who have plenty of hand strength should have an option for an alert that isn't quite so sensitive. I realize it should only be used as a last resort since it's purpose is to save an individual in a situation of dire need. I don't know what a good idea to address this issue would be, in my case like last night, I rolled over in bed and my finger it it just right to set it off. Also, yesterday I was opening a coke bottle and brought it up to my chest since they sometimes require better leverage to open. To my surprise the bottle hit the button and set off a false alarm. Just a thought, I've taken to removing it at night when I go to bed and put it on my night stand. I can still reach it and hit the button, that works for me.

First it was the price that got me and after that it was the personnel. I have had several flash alarms by mistake and they have always been very nice. I cannot remember this lady's name that she called to check on me after several months of not checking in. I didn't pay attention that I needed to do that. But it was a blessing to talk to her since she convinced me that I needed a different alarm necklace. I was trying to save money but not getting the fall detection device I'm not really what is the reason I got this. I'm very blessed and thankful for that person and I wish I could remember her name.

I've had excellent service from Medical Alert. I've never actually needed them, but occasionally I hit my button by mistake and they always respond. I feel guilty thinking I am bothering them, but they have never made me feel this way. - Even though I have rated them very high, I recently had a situation where I was mistakenly charged double for a new medical alert. I called them and they credited the $50.00 overcharge. However, I was charged $54.50 and and to date I have not been refunded the $4.50. I realize it's a small amount, but it's the principle of the issue. They overcharged me and they should refund me for the full amount.

I got this product for my mother who has fallen out of bed a couple times. Once she started using Medical Alert, they would dispatch me when she didn't respond right away to them in an emergency. There was one incident where my mother pressed the medical alert button when I was out of town. I didn't hear my cell phone go off, so they went and called the very next person on her 'list of people to contact'. They've been very patient and quick to respond! It's a very lightweight device, and there are many options for her to wear it. She can wear it as a necklace or as a wrist bracelet. They give us peace of mind, and it's nice to know that they can get there faster than I can in an emergency.

I think they were the first company that contacted me, so I took it. I've seen other companies advertised, but I decided to stick with Medical Alert. I guess the price is okay, I have to pay every month but it's fine. I have the device that you have to push to call them and I just got the new necklace that's supposed to detect when I fall. I'm satisfied with the first one, but I'm having problems with the necklace. I haven't even touched it, I just sit around with it under my shirt, but it has had a lot of false alarms. I've had 3 calls in the last 2 days. I don't want to hear from them that I need to be more careful or things like that. I think it was last year when I actually used it. I fell in the kitchen and pushed the button to get help. Two men came out right away and took me to the emergency room.

I have a back injury so I don't really walk more than a few steps at a time. I knew I needed something like this. I was looking around at various ads and found one at a local drugstore for Medical Alert. I called, got the information that I needed, and signed up. They've handled all of our interactions professionally. Lately I've had some problems with the button because it's very sensitive. The other night, when I was ready to go to bed, I put it in my nightstand drawer. I dropped it maybe 3 inches on something off and it just went off. I had to answer the phone to let them know that I was ok. The other night I had it in my hand, just resting there, and it went off. I made my way to the base unit as quick as I could to tell them it was not an emergency but what came out was this robot voice that would only take yes or no as an answer.

When my wife passed away last year I was looking into a service like this. I had all the information, so I thought that getting it would be a good thing for me. It has been a good deal so far. Shortly after I got it I fell outside and hit my head in the driveway. I wasn't hurt badly but I used it and they came for me and took me to the emergency room. I also accidentally bumped it when it was in my pocket. They called me and asked me if I was alright and I just told them I was. They are really good. At some point I lost the receiver or some other bit of the thing, so I called them and I got another one in the mail. When the snow melted I found it on the ground and it still worked so I just sent it back. One of the things I'd like them to change is the range of the medallion. You can only use it to talk to them if you're within a certain range of it. If I were to fall in a different room in my house, I would basically have to yell for them to hear me. Because of that I basically have my medallion and the receiver on me all the time.

I live alone and didn't really feel confident on my own, that's why I got one of these. I went with Medical Alert because they have a GPS system so, no matter where I am, they can send me help. Now I feel safer when I'm at home or when I drive. The devices are compact and they don't take up a lot of space. The pendant is very handy. You can wear it around your neck and if you fall it will alert someone right away, you don't even need to push the button. Luckily I haven't had to use it. Unfortunately, I've been having some false alarms because I jump or push the button at night while I sleep. I wish there was a way to cancel the alarm for whenever that happens. On those occasions it sometimes takes them a minute or two to come on the line. Still, it gives me peace of mind knowing that I have the equipment. If I need it, help is just a button push away.

I read an advertisement in a magazine about them and looked them up online. It seemed to have all the things that I needed, so I got it. Customer support gave us answers to the questions that we had in the beginning. On a typical day I wear my device overnight. I have a care giver come in the morning and I go through my routine. I shower and then put on the bracelet or the necklace on for the day. I put the bracelet on my right hand rather than my left hand. Sometimes I have it on all day long since it's not a problem for me. The button is very simple to use and the information and explanations that they give you are easy to follow. I can check on my computer whenever I get charged. I receive my invoice and it's always right. The only difficulty that we've had is that the machine needs to be plugged into the wall. I live in a condo and usually these buildings don't have that many wall outlets. I wish that device was somewhat smaller too. Even though I'm in a rather large condo I still have limited space. The device takes up a full table. Still, it has worked for me, I'm quite satisfied.

I had been falling a lot at the time and decided that I needed something that could help me when that happened. A lot of people don't realize that you can travel with it. You can just let them know where you're going and that's it. That's really nice because I can take it with me wherever I go out on Christmas. This year we went to Vegas and then to Florida, it was a nice trip. It doesn't cost that much. They have helped me a lot so far, everybody is very polite. Once I accidentally bumped the device on my neck against the counter and set the alarm off. Their people were here right away and even called me 3 times just to make sure I was alright. Now my sister and mom have one too. I feel safer with it knowing that there's someone right there ready to help.

At the time I looked at two different companies and since they had the best plan I went for it. I'm happy to have it in case I fall in the shower or something. I live alone so someone will be able to reach me and help me as long as I have it. I haven't had to use it but I always have it on me. I use the bracelet when I'm in bed and put the necklace on when I get up in the morning. There have been a couple of times when I either bumped it or dropped it and they responded right away. It's a bit too easy to bump the bracelet and set it off but I guess it's better for it to be too sensitive than to not be sensitive enough.

I've had it for years. Every time I've used the Medical Alert button they've been here in no time. One time I fell right outside the door of my house, between the garden and the door, and couldn't get up. I pushed the button and even though the base unit was in my bedroom they were still able to hear me. I could barely hear them, but it was enough and things just went beautifully. They sent out the paramedics and they arrived very shortly and picked me up. They have always been there when I need them. It's a good system. Talking to my girlfriend who has a different system I realized that they're all pretty much the same when it comes to how fast they get to you. Right now I'm trying to decide if I should get the one that can go with you anywhere since my husband travels sometimes.

I got it because I wasn't allowed to leave the hospital until I got some kind of system like this one. Since it had the best reviews I decided to go with it. On an occasion I was trying to reach something and had no support or anything. I ended up falling on my back and had to use the button. I got a good response. I've had some false alarms and other times when I call them to check in, but I've only really had that one emergency. The device is easy to use, it just sits on my neck and I have no problems with it. It's good, it gives me security and I know that if I need help they'll send someone.

I had a medical alert system for years but it was tied to the house's phone line. I couldn't go beyond 100 feet away from my home. I looked around and they were the ones that met my needs and requirements so I went with them. I'm 85 years old, so I don't get out much, but I do go out occasionally and because of that I wear the fall detector around my neck. At first I was concerned about the GPS system since I wasn't sure it was going to be accurate. To test it I actually drove 15 miles out of town and pressed the button. They called me right away and told me the address that I was calling from. I was very pleased about that. Whenever I accidentally bang it against something they are always there right away to check on me. One time when I went out to check my mail, the neck piece got caught on the mailbox. I didn't realize it and it fell to the ground. When I saw it I picked it up and went back into my apartment only to realize that they were calling me. They wanted to make sure I was fine since the button had detected a fall. That made me feel very confident. Even though it was an accidental drop they were right there. The one time I actually needed them to send someone they paramedics were out there almost immediately. It's comparatively more expensive than other 2 services that I looked at.

They were the ones that I learned about first so I just kind of went with it. It's just there, if I need it I just use it. Over the years that I've had it I haven't had to call too many times. I had a very bad beginning with them though. It had been about a month since I had paid for the service and I was still waiting to get the device and everything. At night I fell off the bed and just kind of laid there on the floor from 4:30 in the morning until 2 o'clock in the afternoon. I couldn't move, get up, or get help. In the end my daughter came and helped me and took me to the hospital in an ambulance. I got a concussion and three stitches from that fall. The very next day I got a parcel on the mail with the emergency button in it. I'm not sure why it was slow at coming, but it would've been useful if it had arrived just one day earlier. I would've had help right away rather than laying on the floor for hours. I've had no problems whatsoever since then though. Their customer service is very good. They always explain everything to me, even if I call them by accident in the middle of the night. They are always there when you call them and talk to you for as long as you want to talk to them. I'm satisfied with that.

I live in this apartment building for older people. It's nice and about twice a week I go to the dining hall and talk with others and everything. They have activities like movie nights and such. I also occasionally have doctor appointments and shop around a little. Because of that my daughter thought it would be good to have, just in case I need it. I've never had to call and sometimes I get confused with the buttons and everything. Still, I feel like it's always there and it gives me a feeling of security to have it. I know that it'll always call the right phone numbers on its own. I think it's the best, especially since my daughter wouldn't get anything but the very best for me. She takes very good care of me. I feel confident about the service, even though I really haven't had to use it. Sometimes when they call I don't always respond or don't cooperate all the time, but that's because I'm very hard of hearing and I get confused sometimes. I'm happy about the whole thing. I don't have negative comments about it. As long as I have my little button to press I feel confident in being able to help myself.

I checked them out and they seemed to have the best price. If you call for anything they help you out. On an occasion I became dehydrated and didn't realize it. When I tried to get up, I just slid out of my bed and fell. I pushed the button right and they came and got me right away. I ended up in the hospital, but I was ok. They're very thorough and I'm just completely satisfied with that. I had the one that detected falls but I didn't like that one at all. It seemed like it just went off on its own if you moved even a little bit, so I sent it back and got the regular one. It goes around my neck and it has been great. I haven't used it that much but I'm really liking it so far. I feel safe having it in case I need them here.

I called several places and Medical Alert was the best value service that I could afford. Fortunately I've never had to use it, I guess I just happen to be lucky enough. The pendant is too sensitive. It has gone off a couple of times when I lean over to put the dog's dish down and things like that. I don't know if I'm moving to fast or what, but it always thinks I'm falling. One time the alarm went off accidentally and I never noticed. I had a lot of company at the time and I didn't even hear the phone ring or them calling me. Since no one answered, they sent an ambulance and the police and they came. So, even though it was a bit of a problem, it showed me that it works. They are easy to talk to and I haven't had any problems with them.
