This is the worse customer service I have ever encountered. I have been with this company since 2017 and I filed a claim for a leaking sink and it was denied. I had a difficult time reaching an agent that was helpful. I was given the run a round. They denied the claim, then a Case Manager said they would fix the sink. They sent the plumber another email stating that the claim was denied. After speaking to a second Case Manager, she said due to some wording in the contract, they couldn't fix the sink. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone.

So far we have had a plumber and an electrician out to the house and both were very professional, courteous, and knowledgeable.

Filed a claim for my A/C, and verbiage in the agreement states 24-48 to find a contractor, it has been 7 days, and still no one wants to do business with them. It should tell you how bad of a company they are when contractors do not want to do business with them. They offer a reimbursement option, but that is a bait and switch, and has very specific requirements the contractor themselves must perform to get your money back, which gives them a plethora of excuses to not reimburse you, and blame it all on the contractor, getting you mixed up in a middleman battle.

I contacted HWA 10 days ago about my AC unit not working. They stated they had 24 to 48 hrs to find a technician. 4 days later I got a text saying the tech wold be here in 5 days. Contacted the ac company. They don't contract with AHW. Call HWA oh we will have Ave to take another 24 to 48 hrs to locate another tech. Wish I had checked this company out before. We will see what they come up with next.

I did not like the service provided or the form of attention to the public of this company. Well, when they try to sell a policy, they are excellent at promising that they will help you quickly and without problems. When I made a claim to them, they delayed and made excuses, as well as they looked for all possible obstacles so as not to recognize the expenses incurred for the repair.

First experience with a claim. I am not impressed. Sent someone who is a new “company” (2 guys with an unmarked suv, business card with an incorrect phone number). I was told “HWA gives us a hard time if something needs replaced, they just want a quick fix”. I had another company in the past and was much more impressed.

June 22 AC went out, June 29 AC still not fixed. Temps over 100 degrees. Going into Holiday Weekend. I don't see this getting fixed before then the way they are moving. The tech collected the deductible and I have this feeling in my gut I'm never going to see them again. I have called everyday trying to push this repair of the fan motor. I am seriously considering cancelling this program. Not a happy customer.

Worst home warranty company. Says clearly in my policy that they will fix leaking or broken drain pipes even with corrosion. Submitted a claim, three weeks later it was denied and my appeal was denied because they said the pipe that was installed originally with the house was improperly installed. It’s ridiculous what excuses will be made so this organization can save money.

We tried to file a claim for our 26 year old HVAC system. It was no longer repairable but they denied the claim saying it was Physically Damaged (even though it wasn't)... We sent all documentation, even from the 20+ year professional we hired and he couldn't believe they denied it either. HWA is a scam and joke. Poor customer service. They didn't even find the company for us, we had to find the company to fix our system. We've now been without AC for a month and it's almost July. DO NOT GET A PLAN WITH HOME WARRANTY OF AMERICA!!!!!!

DO NOT BUY HWA. They do not give you a replacement for something they can’t fix. My washer couldn’t be fixed and so they “offered” a $343 Lowe’s gift card. Telling me that is the price they have to replace it, but won’t replace it. I have to pay $350 to get the same washer and $160 to get the smallest cheapest one. They have set replacement prices that you can’t argue about. Take it or leave it.

We received a diamond plan with HWA from the Seller. Even though appliances were in working mechanical conditions, most of our electrical and HVAC claims were denied. The unknown pre-existing condition only applies if the appliances are first tested and approved by a service professional in a working condition. This defeats the whole point of getting a home warranty for a new home owner.

The company has become worse with each passing year. 6 weeks to get a dryer repaired. Replace a built in appliance but do not cover the cost of sales tax, delivery and installation and only provide replacement by gift card at one store. Previous year had A/C out for over 2 weeks in middle of summer before it was repaired properly. So few technicians in my area will work with them that the initial service call on an appliance is taking 7 to 10 days from when the claim is submitted.

Takes forever for them to make a decision on anything. Have been waiting now three weeks for a decision on what to do with my refrigerator that was condemned by the service technician. Support just keeps telling me they are waiting on additional documents for the tech. I call the tech directly and they state they've given HWA everything they asked for. Joke of a warranty company, will not be renewing.

only good for minor repairs for appliances; ex replace filter or motherboard. anything you'd want a warranty to help cover they make up excuse for why they don't cover it and then let you talk to 'case manager' who does nothing but repeat a script.

I did not appreciate the run around I got over whether or not the warranty was going to pay for my pipes to be replaced. Why send a 2nd contractor out for another opinion and then request a copy of the estimate just to tell me it's not being covered? Such a waste of time. This project got delayed 3 weeks because of this. Absolutely poor customer service. I believe I'm entitled to my $100 service fee back. Especially since the contractor performed no work and the company received no bill.

We have had 4 different technicians come out to our house and 2 have replaced the 3 components of our stove. It still doesn’t heat properly, takes forever to get to any temperature. You charged us 2 deductibles and now HW SAYS THEY HABE TO ORDER THE SAME PARTS AGAIN! That was over a month ago and still no parts or response from HW. HW is a joke when it comes to customer service and reliability!

Absolutely horrible home warranty company! They like to claim they’re great but they do not want pay to what they are contractually required to pay. Time and time again they send out the absolute worst contractors and will delay paying them and delay fixing, repairing, or replacing the homeowners problems. Whatever you do as a home owner DO NOT choose Home warranty of America!!

Terrible customer service, close to unethical practices, defaults to refusing any claim, giving reasons that are exactly counter to what the technician actually put on the form. The company is completely non-transparent. Even when it was bought or merged with another company and I received claim calls from that other company name, HWA employees told me that wasn't part of their company.

HWA left us high and dry with a plumbing issue. HWA paid to fix one plumbing issue but refused to accept/fix THE EXACT SAME ISSUE the plumbing contractor found on the adjacent vanity sink. Even when pointing out the verbiage in contract that supported the claim. HWA used to pretty good in response to issues/claims and up until now we felt good renewing our contract each year. No longer. This will very likely be our last contract with HWA.

Please do not do business with Home Warrant of America. I did not know how bad they were until I submitted a claim for my refrigerator. They could not find a vendor to service my refrigerator. They gave me authorization to hire my own vendor with the promise of reimbursing for expenses incurred. I spent nearly $400 and was told they were only going to reimburse me $87. I have spent a considerable amount of time trying to resolve the issue with their customer service to no avail.

We bought our home less than a year ago and got the home warranty as soon as we purchased the house. So far we've had to call them out for multiple problems that should have been covered per the contract and they have only approved two things. The most recent one they closed out saying it was fixed before the repair technician even put in a work order. We don't recommend people waste their money one this Home Warranty company or anyone affiliated with them, and we have also informed our friends who are shopping for homes and our Real Estate agency, who no longer recommend them as well

If I could give zero stars, I would. There is and was a leak in my home which was advised by contractor you sent out that was INSIDE home but they had to do leak detection. My claim was denied stating they don't cover outside piping. Leak is INSIDE causing damage! Leak detection was needed to find exact area inside wall to repair. Still waiting to hear back from vendor asking with warranty company. Very disgusted and dissatisfied!

The companies they send out are sketchy. Most don't even have a website when you search their name online. And they usually have TERRIBLE reviews online. It's like they only get business through HWA. No one in their right mind would hire them outside using HWA. If you're going to pay $100 for the call anyways I'd rather hire a reputable company with good reviews.

**Basically if HWA can't fix or replace a simple microwave that should say alot for this company...*** This company sucks. Microwave latching system broke, called HWA to file a claim. They sent out a service tech, tech said it need the Microwave needed to be replaced cause parts are no longer available. HWA denied claim due to it being cosmetic damage. But the broken part is on the inside the door. If they can't fix or repair they cut you a check for a new one. I pay about $900.00 a yr for nothing... I will be dropping HWA. NOT AMAZING

Absolutely horrible ! Our realtor in Utah recommended this company. I’m guessing she got a kick back. They deny claims with out seeing anything in person. The 1800 number is worse than 90s Microsoft support. We have a few claims on average start to finish is 3-5 weeks that is a complete joke. Other companies we had 36 hours from call to work completion. I don’t know how these clowns stay in business but homeowner beware. This is not a home warranty company it’s a joke deny you company and charge you extra for service related work

Company misfiled our information and sent me down a rabbit hole of wasted time while their internal systems were broken. I called 6 times over a month and they still weren't able to correct our information so I could never file a claim. I asked the useless outsourced help techs in multiple departments for an escalation, and NEVER received a manager callback, despite their assurance that a manager would call within 24 hours. They just took our money and never did anything. Pure scam and lies. I filed a BBB claim.

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I have filled 2 separate claims, and neither job was ever completed. Both vendors said they would no longer deal with them, they got no response and no payment. I was told repeatedly from HWA that they had authorized the repair, then told they closed the claim because of inactivity. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau

In short they are con artist. Do not do business with them. My split unit heat pump system with ceiling fan coil broke. They will not cover. Because they say it doesn't have ducts. However, if you look at the agreement under heating, they cover all components of a heat pump system that heat and cools the house. That is exactly what I have. However they dont care, because they side there is no ducts. This no ducts exception is from another section and not in this component section. The only way is to sue

Its a shame i cant give them less stars. Similar to all of the other comments here this company is a joke and they will do anything to get out of paying for a legitimate claim. Even if you have a 100% legitimate claim they will give you the run around for days or WEEKS while your AC is out or your water line is broken. Both of which happened to me, both of which I had to pay out of pocket in the end. RUN do not walk away from anything pertaining to this useless service.

This company is an absolute scam. They are extremely rude, refuse to return calls, and will do everything they can to keep from covering problems which clearly should be covered under their policy. And then, when it comes time to renew your agreement, they will auto renew you! Even after you have opted to cancel multiple times. Stay far away from this company

Total scam, take your money and never delivers. Never able to get a technician assigned, you have to end up calling your own technician and hope you don't get the run around. My air went out, I called of course they didn't have anybody to fix it. I hired my own technician and ended up just paying out of pocket because I had been through this song and dance with them before. Not worth the headache. They need to be shut down.

This is a horrible company to work with. They were included in a package when we purchases our house. The coverage has expired, and we have received relentless phone calls and text messages begging us to act now and renew the service. I have asked numerous people at the company to remove me from all contact lists. Then I get more calls. You will spend hours on hold, navigating automated menu options to no avail. I bought a 1-year warranty with HWA and have been ghosted by both HWA and the technicians that they contract with. They are quick to reply to you when you ask why your technician did not show up during the appointment window, but they will not update you when the technician reschedules. My technician has rescheduled without notifying me a few times already and HWA tells me that they have the "best availability." I am glad my home has had no other issues because HWA does not care for urgency.

I have been trying to get a part ordered to fix my washing machine. They have been reviewing the claim for weeks and have yet to authorize the claim. I have called numerous times, waited on hold, had customer service tell me its under review. Then I get transferred to the Resolutions dept. They tell me they need to check on claim. I'm put on hold and after several minutes they either hang up or send me back to the customer service queue to start over again. This has now occurred 5 times over the course of 10 days. I only give 1 star because there is no zero option.

Absolutely atrocious customer service. They hang up on you themselves, or put you on hold and after 20 minutes of being on hold their system hangs up on you. Service companies hate working with them, so HWA often makes you front the money to the service people and file for reimbursement from HWA which is a hassle and takes weeks to be reimbursed. Horrible company, would not recommend to ANYONE.
