This company used to be great at servicing their customers, I had been a customer for many years with essentially no problems. However this past year has been a joke. I had a plumbing issue and an air conditioner issue neither of which they could even find a service provider. They now have a program that allows the customer to select their own service provider and then would be reimbursed by HWA. Of course I had to use this since HWA could not locate a service provider in my area at all. How can you be a warranty company that has nobody willing to work for them?? To make a long story short HWA sets the requirements on the customer's service provider such that the customer's service provider cannot fulfill the HWA requirements. The customer then cannot be reimbursed because the service provider cannot fulfill the HWA requirements before the repair/replace takes place. The repair has to be finished so it goes forward then the fight with HWA takes place which the customer cannot win. Never sign up with this company!

I should have never gone through HWA. It is a complete racket and waste of time. I first submitted my plumbing leak on 8/1. A plumber appointment was made for a Saturday between 10-4 and the plumber never showed up- calling the company was not helpful because no on answered the phones. The following Saturday a plumber actually did show up, filed a report and charged me a $75 service fee. After a few days a did not get any follow up so I called HWA for the first time- after multiple calls I finally insisted a manager call me back immediately and on 8/29 was told my warranty would not cover this because of a completely different issue found in my inspection report. Complete waste of time, energy and $75. I should have went with my gut and used an independent plumber.

I like that my AC is finally repaired to working order. I dislike that it took HWA over 4 weeks to resolve, took me many days off work to be present, and had to deal with three different service companies they sent before one was able to fix. And to later find out that some parts of the repair job was required to fix but not covered.

I don't like not having an actual person to talk to. It's all automated, and I prefer human contact. Whenever I do file a claim, it's not very prompt. It's 2-3 weeks out before they get somebody out here just to look at the problem.

It's the worst company I've ever worked with. Any type of company like this should not exist, I don't know what is wrong with those people. They came over and charged me $75 and they never told me anything about the parts. Nobody could tell me where the parts were. After more than a month now, I had to ask someone else to come and they fixed it in 2 days. And when I called Home Warranty of America, they kept offering me to renew, but they couldn't even fix one problem and one of the attendants just could not give me the claim number. She just kept offering to renew, to renew, and I had to yell at her to give me the claim number because she wouldn't give it to me. It was the worst experience ever.

There has not been a single claim that went through without a fight. appliance parts take forever to arrive. One month to repair a refrigerator is what it took only to find out that one part that was claimed out of stock was always in the repairman's truck , but moreover to find out that there is also a leak and the refrigerator cannot be repaired. Happy to find out it got approved for replacement - boom, the lowe's gift card will arrive in 30 days!! How nice 2 months without refrigerator, what a joke. Another property, another refrigerator, after the part finally arrives in 6 weeks and is installed, but the freezer door still leaks and freezes up , the vendor never returns phone calls. Keep trying until HWA says it has been 30 days, open new claim, pay another $100! Plumbing was a night mare, leaking washer and unreliable plumbers keep rescheduling due to crying babies and barking dogs in the background. Call HWA to ask for another plumber, instead they open new claim and make me pay $100 twice, what a scam. Another plumbing claim broken shower gets denied based on the diagnosis that the plumber says he never submitted. Another fight to get another plumber re evaluate, gets denied again - the repair has been completed without authorization! No we were supposed to wait for 2 weeks for authorization with a non working shower. The communiocation between vendor and HWA is awful, authorization process is not functioning as a result it so time consuming and stressful and absolutely not worth the money. Angry tenants, disappointed landlords.

I was hopeful that being a long time customer would have been valued and help to resolve our issue in a timely manner. Sadly, after having to repeatedly call the company to get any traction on our claim, it took more than a six weeks to get resolved. Our first technician took two weeks of time and never submitted the info so we had to have another sent out. Then the part ordered was shipped to the wrong carrier. I’m disappointed that what I thought would be a helpful resource and experience has turned out so poorly.

I used it recently for something that they didn't make the part anymore, so they did offer a buy out, which is in theory great, but when you paid $600 for a warranty and then they use the wholesale price instead of the price of a retail oven, it's not been a great experience, but it's better than nothing, I guess.

I did not like the fact that it took 3 weeks to get my ecard to purchase my new washer. I had to go to the laundromat 3 times. I did not get full replacement money to buy the new washer. So I paid my 100.00 for the tech to come out and then to buy the cheapest washer I had to add 253.00 to the money hwa gave me. All in all I spent 353.00 to have this warranty. Now my AC is not working properly. So another 100.00 plus I have to pay 138.00 when they come back to fix it. I live in Florida and it's been 86 degrees in my house for 2 weeks now and it won't be fixed until next week. So another 238.00. why do I have a warranty?

Before HWA switched to Choice I would have rated it higher, but I was very displeased working with HWA since Choice took over. It doesn't hold the same value anymore as it used to. Previously I was able to completely replace a couple of appliances which made HWA a great value for me, but this year under Choice "replacing" an appliance meant giving me about 15% of the total cost to replace it. I spent significantly more money on HWA insurance than the 15% they gave me for the appliance. Not worth it.

Wish I was told that because my appliances are old that HWA will not replace 100% by maybe just 65% of appliances value. I was paying 100% cost of my premiums . I should paid 65% of my premium each year. Amazing

customer service is excellent. the vendors are not so great roofers replaced with mismatched colored shingles. plumbers tried to hustle us to pay for a new clean out valve which we already had had to get a second opinion and that plumber supposedly did the job but didn’t bother to tell us they were done, so we just cross our fingers and hope the issue doesn’t repeat

They just passed on information and when you call back to ask about what happened they they have no real answer for you. The first time we called was for the vent that air stopped coming through. We needed somebody to come out to service that. They contacted 3 companies before we found out nobody was coming out. They kept telling us for one reason or the other that person got rejected. That person is not going to be able to help us. So that didn't get done. So that took a week to go so that and work never got done, all right. The second time they couldn't find people that will come do the work. I would never recommend them to anybody.

I wouldn't recommend them. About two months ago my air conditioner went out and they sent a service provider out three weeks later, at which point the service provider gave them the response that it needed to be replaced. They then chose to get a second opinion, which took another two weeks. And then finally, that person was able to come out, take a look at it, provided the same response the first person did, and at which point they did actually replace the unit. But in total, it took about six weeks to get done. The customer support staff has no power. They just read scripts and will feed you BS responses.

They were just hateful. My washing machine broke and the gentleman that came out here told me that they could not fix it and it had to be replaced and that I would hear something from them within 24 to 48 hours. It took 3 weeks and I had to have my realtor call the lady that was over the district here in Florida before anybody would even respond to me. The lady was just very rude to me, she did not want to give me the value of the washing machine to replace it. She told me the washing machine was 20 years old. She wasn't going to pay the full value. That was the point of me getting the Homeowner's Warranty. She just didn't care.

They are very responsive for small item claims. When it is a big ticket item like air conditioning or water heater, this is the worst company to deal with. They add a charge and will not let you know what it is for. If you don't accept the charge, they cancel your claim. There is no one to talk to and when you do get someone you start all over from the beginning and get canned answers that aren't relevant to your claim or contract.

You guys are very hard to work with when it comes to having replaced something. We've had a replace 2 items now because you said there was nothing wrong with them. One of the items this last time was the water heater. You said that it was fine and functionable but it had bacteria in the water and the water heater was starting to conk out. I don't like your process as far as how you decide what you're gonna. Do? With. An item so we ended up spending $1300 out of our pocket to replace the water heater that was contemanated.

HWA denied our cook top repair after two technicians evaluated the problem. I never heard from HWA about why the final repair was denied. HWA received two payments then when a more experienced technician was needed the repair was denied. If HWA started a repair ticked for the cook top, it should have been covered. If not why agree to look at the cook top. Other than that HWA has been good!

For a while, their service was very good, but I guess they were sold and thereafter, it seems like sometimes I would get help when I needed it, but if I had anything having to do with the plumbing, even something minor, they simply ignored me and I would have to call 5 times sometimes to get some kind of response. I ended up becoming so disenchanted that when I was going to sign up again for another year, I ended up asking for my money back because they were not being responsive to my request to have someone assigned to what I think is a small plumbing issue.

Within the past year, I’ve had nothing but issues with your company. I’m thinking it could be due to the merge with choice plus. Even with the continuous price increases of your premiums and your service call fees, I have still renewed with you every year but this year I don’t think that I’ll be doing that. I spent over an hour and a half on the phone yesterday which was May 16, 2023 because in error when you guys merged with choice plus warranty you removed my washer and dryer coverage in the error. I had to spend time on the phone with your incompetent agents fighting tooth and nail to get the issue resolved before I was finally able to speak with Stephanie from your resolution team who was absolutely awesome. She resolved my issue within minutes. I’m also upset that your team members do not have the ability to see any claims prior to February 2022 which was your merge with choice plus that is absolutely ridiculous. If asked to refer your company absolutely not. I’ve been a loyal customer for yours for almost 5 years and I don’t think that I will be in the future. I’ve had to file a complaint with consumer affairs against your company. Your customer service representatives are not knowledgeable and unprofessional. I don’t ever contact a business expecting stellar service because I know that that expectation would be too high but at least the bare minimum would be nice and your customer service reps just do not do it. Whenever I call I have to call back multiple times for the same issue which I’m sure you know is time consuming and very frustrating.

Customer support has been prompt, but there is a lot of back and forth in terms of getting the the provider, who they are and their schedule. I'm always being asked to reach out to them but they say it's resolved, but it's not resolved. It took almost three weeks to just fix a small issue with a toilet leak.

They have someone come out and you pay them $100 right away. This last one, which I'm still working with, was there for 6 minutes. I gave him a check for $100 I still have not got my air conditioner fixed. They came back the next week but couldn't fix it yet because they didn't have what they needed. They just texted me 10 minutes ago to say they would come tomorrow. Another time it took 5 visits to get my heat fixed.

They had cancelled my claim, they never did get my unit ordered, never got it in. I had to call them up and literally go crazy on them in order to get them to finally send somebody else out here to check the unit and said it just needed Freon and finally they got it fixed just this month. These people refuse to replace appliances with like-quality items while using questionable contractors to do the work. Our top-of-the-line Carrier air conditioner was replaced with a no-name brand by technicians who lacked the ability to replace an older model hard-wired thermostat with a hard-wired programmable one—so now our thermostat has to operate on a battery. Our Insinkerator disposal died, and I contacted Insinkerator company to determine what the current model to replace it was. I gave that information to the contractor who called Home Warranty and told us that Home Warranty only allows a certain dollar amount—so we were forced to take the “builders special” model rather than the high-end model we were replacing. We will never recommend them, and we are discontinuing our insurance.

We recently purchsed our home in Foley AL. It was built in 2006, and much of the house has been remodeled or re-equiped, but at 17 years old, stuff is bound to happen. Recently our air conditioner quit cooling. It was a Saturday and I entered my information on the HWA website, not expecting to hear anything back until Monday. I was shortly thereafter texted the name of a repairman. He came out on a Sundayand my air was back up in no time. Honestly, I didn't expect much but was provided a great and timely response.

I've only had to use HWA 2 or 3 times in the four years we've been here and signed on to HWA, but it's always been a smooth and satisfactory experience each time... IF I ever sat down and did the math between the annual fee for HWA plus the per visit charge, I think my 2-3 call ins for the repairs I needed probably ended up costing me a bunch more per repair than if I would have just called a local repair guy. That said, it IS nice to know that a reputable repair person/service is available with one phone xall
