Every repair I've done has taken multiple visits and repetitive calls to both you and the vendors to get done. For example, on my microwave repair, the first company flaked out after coming. The second company came, ordered a part, but when they installed it that wasn't the part which needed replacement. They then ordered supposedly the right part, but it was also wrong although the microwave then worked. However, the part they put on was sloppily glued over the original buttons you push and 1/3 of the bottom still showed the original non-working buttons because the part they glued on was the wrong size. They then claimed that this was only a cosmetic issue and it took multiple calls to them and AHS to get it resolved. The refrigerator repair is taking a similar track in that there has been someone out at least 5 times. It still isn't working right.

Sent out contractor United Air Temp who lied and said repairs were needed on AC and refill of coolant to the tune of 1500 which was a total lie. I requested a second opinion with another contractor American Group. There were honest found no leak, no need for 1500 worth of coolant etc stated just needed filters cleaned as remodel work contractor did some work with AC on when should have been off and said needed replacement of a coil and cleaning of coil. AHS tried to lie and side with initial con contractor. I had to call over 6 times and had to request supervisor call me. Still not fully resolved properly as they denied replacement of a coil stated by Autogroup that was truly needed but approved the con contractor request for 1500 of refill coolant (which was confirmed was not needed) that I would need to fork out of pocket after they paid their portion. I’ve been with them since 2007 but this time and last time there have been issues. Wasn’t like this before. I saw they were purchased by another company and I feel the service has went down and monthly payments and contractor service fees have went up

Had AHS for 28 yrs. Always very satisfied with the contractors. Moving from CA to OK some are not reputable contractors. Pool guy was paid his fee but he didn’t do the job and didn’t submit a report. I cannot get a refund until they get theirs (AHS). They shouldn’t pay until they get a report and confirm job was done.

During my 14 months of using Home Shield, I had two issues. Both of them were not resolved. This last one took the cake. I have a modular home. In repairing a deck in my back yard, I found that when they originally put in the house and installed the brick foundation wall, they failed to properly integrate the heat pump drainage pipe. The folks who put in the wall just poked a hole through the vent and set the pipe on the wall - letting the output just run down the wall. When the home shield folks sent and HVAC person, they agreed that the HVAC was installed properly at the factory and that this was a foundation wall issue. Unfortunately, that person never filed a report or responded to the Home Shield folks. So, they sent another HVAC person. He agreed that it was an issue with the wall on integrating the pipe properly. Then I receive a notice that Home Shield determined my issues was 'partly' covered and my out of pocket expense was $400. I asked them to clarify what part they were covering and received no answer. After a couple more requests for clarification, I received a phone call that told me that the service was not covered, as it was a problem with the HVAC installation of the drain pipe, which is not covered. The service was $400, and I had to pay it all. This is a modular home. The HVAC was installed in the house in a factory FAR away from my address. The faulty installation happened when the house was put on the property and they cheated when they made the wall. The two HVAC experts that appeared at my home both agreed this was an issues with the wall installation, and the HVAC was fine. They went against the advice of the vendors they hired when they saw they could get away with not spending money on a legitimate claim. I have stopped using Home Shield. All I have for using this service is a lot of headaches getting a straight answer. I'm out two service fees and all the monthly fees with nothing to show for my money other than receipts.

Repairs can take a very long time. We have had two claims and each took several months to resolve ... one of them left us without a functioning oven for a couple months. During the long resolution process, communication was poor-to-non-existent. There is no commitment on the part of American Home Shield to resolve issues within a reasonable, specific amount of time.

The newly installed Compressor has already stop cooling and I had to pay an additional $100.00 for a new contract to fix what was previously covered. Additionally it took three month for the first contract to be completed, I end up in the hospital from heat exhaustion, I place the contract in March it was July before they could find a Compressor, and it has already stop cooling.

Service is OK very slow getting repair people to do initial assessment. Let to much time go by before on leak problem that was resolved for 2 of the 5 faucets that leaked. Second time got one more repaired still have two more that leak. Expensive has gone up $30 in past two years for monthly cost. Very unhappy in past was denied repair on sewer pump in rental house. Mediocre repairs sometimes have had several visits to complete. Long waits on phone trying to talk to human. Have had to change agents due to unclear communications.

American Home Shield is a great company as long as you have an issue that does not need immediate attention. I’ve had this company for over 10 years and for electrical outlets, faucets with a slow leak, dryer noise and things like that, they are fine. When the AC goes out during a hot week or the furnace dies on Thanksgiving, prepare to wait for a week or longer or spend hours on the phone arguing with customer service and pleading your case.

We ended up buying a new fridge out of our own pocket after spending $100 copay with Sears (company that was supposed to repair the fridge). Don't waist money on this insurance. I'm out $1000 for a fridge, $100 to Sears, and $800+ for insurance!

This company is a complete fraud. I have paid them thousands over the years for coverage for a 'home warranty.' This is a thing they offer, but do not actually provide. Today I opened a ticket for a washing machine which has steadily been growing louder and louder. After a 100.00 fee, in addition to all the fees they collect month after month, after month, it takes some days to get a contractor assigned and a 'tech' dispatched. Was this a tech? I don't think he was. I would call him an inspector, as he did absolutely nothing. Told me it is the transmission. Makes sense. Sounds like it. Go ahead and fix it. Oh, no. Must write a report and submit it to the 'warranty' company and see what they want to do. Took the day off for this. Then I get a call from the manager at the contractor to tell me that they can't diagnose the washer at all, unless it is 'moved out to a different room' while still hooked up. They need to be able to access all sides. What? I have no ability to do that. She then said that they cannot help me at all and to call American Home Shield to dispatch someone who can do what I need. Fine. But American Home Shield won't do that. They won't do anything until they have the report from the 'tech.' Fast forward to they have the report from the 'tech.' Which says not normal wear and tear, so not covered at all. They will not dispatch anyone. I am on my own. What makes it not normal wear and tear? How did they determine anything when they said that can't diagnose it without access to all sides? Thousands of dollars and an extra fee to do nothing. Thank you for giving me the runaround the whole day. Do they let you cancel? Not easy. But I'll be without coverage. I'm without coverage now! The 'coverage' isn't real! Try and get something repaired. Good luck. Oh, but don't cancel, we'll send someone else for a second opinion. For another 100.00 fee. No thank you. If American Home Shield wasn't such a scam they would be a joke.

I use to love AHS. It's not worh it anymore. You used to more for your money. I was paying 120 a month for what. I f I save $120 on the side every month it would cost the same as paying it on my own. They got to big and asking $100 dollars service fee. No thanks. I had to replace a 2 ton air conditioner and cost me almost 4 thousand dollars. Never again.

American Home Sheild is almost IMPOSSIBLE to get on the phone and when you do then it’s almost IMPOSSIBLE to get an American on the phone. You will get someone overseas who doesn’t understand your needs. American Home Sheild has raised their prices significantly since I started with them BUT there are no new products or improvements of customer service. I recommend keeping it local and assigning each customer a contact who is American and also local to their area. No more sending jobs overseas and frustrating our fellow citizens.

No. Too much hassle and the service technicians they use are horrible and do not resolve issues. They owe me $100 refund for service requested, but not performed. Also, a service technician repaired my washer and used duct instead of the proper fasteners. The duct tape did not hold and made the problem worse and they never returned to complete the repair properly.

I’ve been a customer here in SC for 17 years and for decades when I. Lived in California. I complained and they made several excuses. If they change their minds in the next couple of days, I will revise my rating. However, two months waiting for parts will make me give a slightly negative review in any case.

If I could give zero stars I would. I’ve been waiting over 5 months for my microwave to be fixed or replaced. The service is horrendous! They hire incompetent repair people and find every reason not to fix or replace appliances. Save your money. Don’t waste your money or time with AHS. This is not an isolated incident. We have had these issues with a washing machine, fridge and microwave. Look elsewhere.

AHS is a SCAM. I had it for years and when my basement sumo pump broke I wasted $100 I won’t recommend any one to join in. A year contract that is a SCAM. I experienced that there are always extra feeds. The price keep increasing. I would have done better to safe the monthly fee for 15 years. It ended because when the repair person arrived he learned that the condensation line from the AC unit 2 feet away was discharging the water at the sumo pump. Less than 1 cup of clean water per month is discharged there the contract was nulled. Do not get in RUN AWAY

Of the 2 claims I had over the years had this warranty both were approved but I was sent crappy contractors who did not even do the work correctly, and I had to have somebody come out and redo the work they did causing me to spend even more money. The second claim I ended up not having their contractor do the work because they were trying to scam the company instead, I opted for a cash payment in which the company only offered me $166 but wanted to pay the scammer contractor company $770 per the estimate to complete work that was not even needed.

I like the security knowing that the product will be replaced if it cannot be repaired; however, I also know that the replacement product will never be the same quality we had . We had a microwave replaced. The old one was a Dacor and the new replacement was a GE Monogram.

In our area they allow the HVAC and Plumbing Vendors to add in Non covered charges to recover the costs of the repairs that are supposed to be covered in AHS Platinum warranty . These charges can exceed $4000 for HVAC and $2000 for Hot water replacements covered under the warranty. AHS backs the Vendors Non covered charges which are not itemized and not specifically laid out for the customer to validate. These fees cannot be challenged with AHS and if you do not agree to this extortion the Void the AHS warranty on this item until you agree to the Non covered extortion . This is the newest AHS Scam to protect the vendors and to screw the warranty holder and to hold down warranty costs to AHS and it's vendors.

Paid my premiums to AHS for 2 years and had not made a claim, made my first claim on 06/03/2024 had 2 different service companies come to our home, both lied about the service work they did on our washer. When we called AHS and tried to talk to management, we were not believed that service companies did not try to fix our washer we called AHS 5 or 6 times to have washer fixed. AHS said that they were not going to fix our washer called another company to come to fix washer was told that it would cost $400.00 -$500.00 to fix decided instead to buy new washer cost was over $579.00 AHS send only $519.84. AHS management did not try to help us . We are very disappointed with AHS.

Absolutely horrible. I have been without central AC for the entire summer. The first vendor replaced the outside condenser without testing for a leak. A second vendor for found a leak in the inside air handler unit. They drained all the refrigerant out of my system, then said the repair was beyond their capabilities. A third vendor validated the required repair, but said they could not complete the work. Three additional vendors have been to my house, but none want to complete the required repair because AHS will not pay them the actual costs. AHS is ripping me off now by offering a cashout because they cannot find (won't pay) a vendor to complete the required work. The cashout is less than the refrigerant costs drained from my system. No AC since April. No reimbursement for window units. Horrible service and still waiting for an escalation team member to call me back since last week when he said he will call the same day. They connect me to a call center, probably in India or somewhere offshore, where the operators have zero technical abilities. Then I’m paired with local contractors who want to collect a paycheck with doing the least amount of work as possible. In my case, after two months of phone calls and missing work to wait for contractors, I found the problem then I had to figure out a way to repair it myself. All American Home Shield can do is offer polite apologies, but no real service. I’m still left with giant holes in my ceiling and walls and water damage to my home that now I have to pay to fix.

I had to call because it was really our first experience with having to replace and appliance. Wasn’t sure about the process. When I called it was hard to understand the individual I spoke with and not sure if they understood what I was trying to tell them. They could care less about customer satisfaction and just wanted to hurry up and get me off the phone.

The denials over pool claims have been frustrating over the years and now when I had my pump replaced, they won't use new parts. They are insisting the contractors use used/refurbished parts, which in my mind is not acceptable. I only keep the warranty as insurance to a huge AC claim that may or may not come in the future.

American homeshield is a scam. It works as you pay your visit fee and need no major repairs, but as soon as you, my experience is that they get the contractor to file a fraudulent report and deny coverage. I even paid to get them to send out a second opinion (with promises of refunding my initial fee). But they ignored the truthful opinion and even after a report of normal wear & tear tried to deny my claim. I’m waiting to hear back from their legal team (promised yesterday) and if I don’t, I’ll be suing them in court for the cash payout noted in my policy of $5000. I had to replace the system myself after 8-9 weeks of their dancing around it, losing the contractor reports (allegedly), and allegedly losing my phone number.

Fixed problem, but took extremely too long three months to fix an electric toilet pump. This is for 83-year-old lady who had to deal with that inconvenience. The vendor was not reliable, not communicative and extremely slow response to note response to text calls from customer Representatives from American home shield made promises that have never been followed through on the toilet that was given to my mother was lower and shorter, which makes it more difficult for her to use so I’m out of my pocket to buy the correct height toilet for her. So very unhappy with America Home Shield as of now , as of now will not be renewing my subscription with them because of this feel as if my families inconvenience and concerns are just a small drop in a big bucket that they have .

I would give 0 stars if I could. AHS and their contractors extort money from their customers. I was a customer for several years and had to request service twice. Neither time did the contractor fix anything. Instead they said something was wrong that wasn't in order to get more money from me than was necessary. The contractors put in no effort either time to attempt to fix the issue before stating that something else needed to be corrected. The first time they cut a hole in my wall and left. That never needed to be done. The second time the contractor was here less than 5 mins and said I needed a new toilet when my pipe was clogged. I ended up purchasing the same tool the contractor had and unclogging it myself. The contractor did not even address the order I put in for the leaking pipes. I requested compensation due to the work order not being fulfilled and received none. Customer service lied to me numerous times when I requested a different contractor from the beginning due to the first bad experience, stating they would send out another contractor when there is not one available. I am not the only person who had a very similar experience. I have reported it to the BBB, Department of Consumer Affairs and plan to continue to report it until I receive back every dime I paid AHS.

I have had home warranties through a number of companies over the years - but for many years with AHS. There have been times the service was excellent, they responded quickly to assign a service provider who did good work. There have been many other times when the service was terrible. They took a fee for the service call, someone came and said something like "we don't cover this." This, even after I had called AHS ahead of time, to say 'hey, this is the issue - I don't want to pay $100 for a service call if this isn't covered.' To have them reassure me that it was covered, and then get absolutely no response of follow up when I complained after the fact. One customer service rep reassuring me, "don't worry, even though your online dashboard says the claim is closed, we know it isn't finished and we're working on it." Just not true, no follow up and I don't have time or bandwidth to chase them down. That happened more than once. Literally, "oh, we're sorry - the brand of your washer is hard to find parts for, nothing we can do, case closed." It isn't my fault your technician didn't know where to order parts for my washer. In the balance, some wonderful companies along the many years - but too many bad ones, and with the spike in cost for this service it isn't worth it.

American Home Shield is a very unprofessional company who strive to decline the service you are entitle under the policy. AHS personal are not trained on their own products and communicate with customers with the wrong information misleading them to decline service that should be covered by the plan. When I tryed to cancel the plan, they offered me 2 months of free premium, but never gave me the credit and they never cancel my policy either. They kept charging my visa with no authorization and refused to service even on the platinum premium plan. I do not recommend them. AHS is one of the most unprofessional companies I have ever work with in the past.

This last call was horrific! I phoned AHS because one of my air conditioning blades wasn’t turning. The first tech did nothing but tap the handle of a screwdriver on the units and said nothing was wrong, so he added free-on to one that was a bit low. Still had the problem. AHS sent a second tech. He stated my air conditioning unit was “to small” (even though my house has been here 17 yrs) and said on top of what I paid AHS, I would have to pay them $1260+. At that point, I called my regular air & oil company (since AHS does not allow you you use your own reliable companies). In about 2 minutes, my company Densmore diagnosed the issue. A pump was burned out that pumped water to the air conditioner. He had it fixed in less than 5 minutes. My out of pocket was about $350 and change. I doubt AHS will reimburse me for the clowns they sent out who attempted to stiff me for over $1200. I am VERY surprised AHS did not follow up on this earlier. They used to be a reputable company who used reliable companies. Not anymore. It’s sad to see they are dealing with sheisters now. It used to be a value.

I am displeased that all the representatives are employed from outside of the united states. it is often difficult for them to understand my needs and are often requiring me to repeat my self multiple times. They also almost always call me for follow up well after the hours of business. I also was due a refund check from AhS and it took 9 months for me to have it issued. I also have called and notes from previous calls were not input into the system. Currently, I am awaiting a follow up on the status of my washing machine. It has been two months.

I hated having to wait for service and waiting for the company to call me about getting a roof repair approved then who would do it. Weeks later I called back only to have them tell me they weren’t able to find a roofer and it was now on me to do so. No one called to update me on this.

I went through AHS for my split AC unit, just to have 5-6 different people come out to “fix” it and me having to miss working and open up my schedule to try to accommodate these times that they were going to come over . Instead of sending somebody capable of fixing the problem, each time it got worse according to each person sent to us. Not only am I 700+ dollars out but I had to go buy a Completely new AC split unit Due to American home shield now projecting the claim that they sent multiple people out to try to fix. I called them to See if I can get all of the money that I put into each claim back but instead I got a no. I could’ve definitely put that 700+ Towards a new unit or calling a separate company to come try to fix it on their own. After this situation, I was in disbelief.. And just wanted to cancel my policy since this is not the way you treat a Customer who has been with you guys for years.

I like the concept, but every service call is a fight with AHS. Our last service call resulted in the service provider damaging our house and not correcting the problem. AHS sent out another service provider that agreed that the orginial provider damaged the water valve and now the wall had to be opened to repair. The original service provider had quoted us $1500 (requesting us to pay for their mistake). AHS did not listen to their second provider and offered us $100 to walk away from the issue. I had to contact the owner and service manager for the first company, they agree that their tech screwed up and they are in the process of correcting. I HAD TO DO AHS's JOB FOR THEM BECAUSE THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMER. We are still battling them (2 months) as they would only patch the drywall, not texture and paint the wall.... The company who they sent out to patch the wall wants another $1000 to texture and paint the 24"X24" hole. SO FRUSTRATING that they don't give a dang about their customers and let their service providers take advantage of their customers. Maybe they are in Kahoots, I am not sure.

Customer service is horrible you cannot understand what each agent is saying and they don’t understand you which is horrible AHS is horrible I can’t wait to cancel and go somewhere else or not at all worse experience ever. Ahs gave us a AC unit that they installed and now it’s not working properly and they want cover it and made us pay another two service fees beicase we called again after a so called deadline or recall so we already can’t get a new AC but we also paid Ahs twice worse service and company ever and I regret even starting up with this company you guys need to do better with agent that can speak English and show empathy change your procedures and rules and you will have better outcome and more customers you guys are horrible when it comes to satisfying your customers you guys don’t care just want your money do better please redo everything nothing is right with this company just want your money communication is horrible and no accountability at all
