Customer service is outstanding :) We live rural, so trying to find a contractor to come to us is hard. With AHS we don't have to find our own contractor, we submit the claim, pay the deductible, and they take care of the rest :) The last Home Warranty we had, I had to find the contractor, pay the bill up front, and then wait to be reimbursed. I spent the better part of two days making phone calls, sending emails, waiting for contractors to get back to me, all while my sewer was backed up.

Sometimes they don't fix the problem while they are there and even though they know you will be calling back with the same issue they take your money and leave. Example: Microwave door when shut it runs fan but not heat even when the buttons are on "off." The repair main kept closing the door until it finally didn't run. then he opened and closed and it ran again in "off" position and he kept slamming it until it didn't run and said "ok you are good." But then I opened and closed door and it ran again and he said just keep slamming it a few times. that is not fixed to me and they charged me $100 to tell me something I already knew. You also have to be willing upfront to know that it can take up to five days to get a repair assessment and then more time to order parts etc. Knowing this ahead of time allows me to set the expectation that can be met not something that will frustrate me when not met.

I submitted a repair request on the 18th of November got a repairman to come out and he told me it would take more to repair than replace. Your company was not happy with his results so you sent another company to look at my washer. Took them until the 22 nd of November to look at my washer. They recommended repair vise replacement. on 25th I called your company and you indicated the repair request for parts was not yet submitted. You call the company and then they called me and their parts department has not submitted the request for parts. So as of today 26 November I have been without my washer for 9 days and parts will be requested and it can take up to 10 more business days. To me this is just unacceptable. That is why you get only 3 stars this time.

Whenever we have an issue, service person comes out and it's quickly approved. It does take a LONG time to get someone out, but I know that's just due to the service people busy schedules. I have already reccomended 3 friends to sign up for this warrenty in the one month I've lived here :)

Although interactions with agents have improved, I still need to follow up on certain promises made. For instance, I recently had to follow up to inquire about a recent dispatch that was not coded as a ‘second opinion’. The agent reviewed the notes and confirmed that it should have been (indicating their adherence to service notes, which is commendable). However, they failed to fulfill their stated obligations. Given that the dispatch was intended as a ‘second opinion’ and the second vendor did not identify the same issues as the first vendor, I should not have been charged $100 for service. Earlier in the cycle, I had to follow up frequently regarding the status of my cooktop. AHS consistently indicated that they were awaiting the vendor’s notes. After one month had elapsed, AHS was still awaiting the vendor’s response. I felt that AHS could have been more proactive and, perhaps, enforced any contractual obligations they had with their vendor regarding the timely submission of service reports. Another instance is my email correspondence with Candice W. It took approximately three follow-ups before she finally acknowledged a response. Subsequently, the company denied my request for reimbursement for work that was deemed necessary. This outcome corroborated my online research regarding AHS’s denial of claims and its reluctance to consider them until legal action or media attention is brought forth.

The vendors were kind and courteous but the company is terrible-it takes 3 months to complete any job from no hot water to no air conditioning during the worst months of the summer and no oven for months -from May u til September this year-Last year during the hottest 3 months of the year my husband was on hospice and dying and we had no air-There was zero consideration about what we were going through!I refused to give in because I had paid years of premiums and it was the responsibility of AHS to pay for it!I have decided you hold off hoping the customer will just hire someone themselves and the reimbursement is a joke -the 2 stars received is for the service guys that actually were trying to fix the problem and kept getting halted from AHS

I like that they have covered a lot of the repairs. It’s very helpful to not come up with the cash for the full fix at once. However some of the contractors are hard to deal with. I have had one excellent contractor as well.

We've had AHS for over 25 years and have never received anything other than absolutely stellar service, both from AHS and from its contract providers. I recommend it to everyone. Over this long period of time, AHS has repaired or replaced everything from the HVAC to the kitchen sink garbage disposal to the garage door opener. We rest easy knowing that we're not going to be hit with a huge bill to replace a major appliance. AHS is the best!

My very first experience with AHS was better then I anticipated. My central AC unit stopped working, I called AHS and requested service. The process was easy and very good communication with AHS and repair company. They found that it was the thermostat that failed and needed replacing. This is where I thought the problems were going to start, I had a very expensive digital thermostat from Lennox and I figured they were going to give some cheap replacement but to my surprise they replaced it with an equivalent model since mine was no longer available and all I paid was the agreed service fee. Excellent outcome, glad I made the leap of faith and protected my home with AHS

I love the way they send me local business owners, small business owners, women business owners. They are all about community and for a thriving cared for population, from my seat I see no agendas for prejudice in this company. They have honored all my requests and bitchy at times demands and I apolergize, no offense was meant, I was a struggling house wife who had a drama and her appliance broke just before guests arrived lol. Thats how kind they are they make you feel like they care, that your whole life is unraveling before your eyes and they just happen to me on the other end of the phone line having to listen to you have a melt down. For us the value wasn't there. We had an AC claim that we had to pay $125 service fee and $850 in freon. Not to mention we were without AC for 3.5 weeks. We had 3 claim. I ther than Sears, in general you use contractors with the absolutely lowest ratings. If AHS would read the reviews on each contractor on your list you would see they have low rates because of the huge number of complains the contractor recieves regarding AHS. Lastly my last claim did it for me. I established the claim over the phone and told the rep it was for a paddle fan on my back porch and a light on my eve. AHS took my $125 and set me up with a 3.3 rated electrician. 2.5 weeks later the electrician said he was recommending replacement and I would need to buy the fans I wanted and would get a credit and he would come back and install them. Same for the light. I called for an update and your reply told me the electrician notes said the items weren't covered. Originally your rep should not have taken my $125 if thise items aren't covered. And finally, the electrician company emailed me offering to install the fans and lights on my dime. Kind of stincky. Overall I am left with a feeling of ill will and $125 lighter. I told the rep, Richmond, if the $125 were refunded by Monday i would consider keeping the service. No concession was made by AHS. Im done and I will warn everyone I can that the service is not worth the cost or all the fricking hassle.

Request easy to make and companies respond quickly. Two repairs not fully covered and the rules can be confusing. My 11 year old washer has had 2 repairs in a month for same thing and currently not working. This is very difficult now. Laundromats expensive and inconvenient

I am still waiting for the repair to be done. The installer is still waiting for the AHS provided parts. AHS claims that regular and normal changeover parts to complete the repair are "modifications" which is completely ridiculous. They refused to send me a copy of the "modifications" in question. I would not recommend American Home Sheild to anyone. I have their best policy which is "exclusion only" coverage. They don't tell you that ordinary parts will be excluded, but they will definitely do so. I was warned by some people that they will cover minor issues, no problem, which I found to be true, but when tgere was a major repair, they deny most of it. This has proven to be the case. Beware of American Home Shield!!!

I’m so glad we have this protection plan — this is our 2nd claim in 4 years that’s resulted in an appliance being replaced. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because I wish AHS would speed up the process a bit — the administrative side of the process is slow.

I'm not a fix it type person, so to be able to have something fixed rather than buy new or do without. The small monthly fee is worth knowing I can get things fixed. There is the service fee, but you would pay that to any repairman. This is fixed with the service fee. Well worth it.

It took too long to fix the problem. The repair of my refrigerator was a two-part job to get my ice maker repaired. The technician was very knowledgeable and thorough in his work. The first try did not solve the problem, but he knew the parts needed to complete the repair and was back in two days to complete the job. Good work but i was without service for three weeks.

Although I have had a policy with AHS for almost 2 years, this was my first contact and request for a covered service. When I was deciding on subscribing with AHS the sales representative told me that AHS removers the AC unit off the roof. Then after subscribing I was told that AHS DOES NOT REMOVE the old AC off the roof. THEY LIED in order to get a new subscription!

Very unhappy. They keep sending out HVAC companies with very poor reviews. When I called concerned and spoke with Elise she refused to assign another company. I do plan on dropping this company as this has been a nightmare. We have gone 3 weeks with no ac. I requested that their quality assurance team do their job and look into these companies they are contracting. The company I’m being forced to deal with has multiple one star reviews and the reviews even spoke negatively about AHS. Something has to change or they will go out of business.

Fast enough. Replaced furnace with quality new furnace. I found it hard to find a human to talk to when there was a claim issue from American Home Shield. The communication from the local provider was exceptional.

I dislike the fact that they have outsourced their customer service function to the Philipines. Many of the agents you deal with barely speak understandable english. In addition, they are more interested in reading from their script than actually listening to your problem. I also dislike that AHS has only one contractor in the entire Milwaukee area for heating and air conditioning services. I like that some of their contractors are able to schedule a service visit timely.

Most techs were polite and helpful and explained why the repair and/or replacement was needed. Working with customer service, while sometimes challenging due to language difficulties, was smooth and efficient.

The company has delivered mostly as promised. Initial appointments are set up pretty quickly. The coordination and communication between AHS and their service providers is not great. For example, there is no way to check the status of anything online so you always need to call the service provider. And if the service provider isn't responsive, AHS doesn't help.

Unfortunately there are no 1/2 ratings, but I would rate AHS as a 4.5 rather than 4. I have been a customer for 17 years and although the prices have increased (that is the way of business), they have held consistent with providing EXCELLENT customer service and coverage. The 1/2 star demotion relates to three issues I had which took too long (in my opinion, upwards of three months) to resolve. Outside of those three problems, I would and do recommend AHS as a great home warranty company.

Most of the time the companies you assign to the job are not reputable or vehicles have no name of company. Some are in a hurry and seem to not be wanting to explain their work. My last request for service was very nice and knowledgeable.

Having the ability to get things fixed is great as a homeowner, as it takes a lot of worry off your shoulders. The services provided by AHS are usually very good, but I have had issues with their contracted agents sometimes due to their lack of timeliness in getting recommendations submitted to AHS, unfriendliness, or difficulty getting hold of who they assigned to work on the work request. This three-way communication can be an issue at times.

It's very frustrating and difficult to communicate with customer service individuals that are located overseas. They have a hard time understanding issues that the customer is referring to. They can't go off script and just keep reading the same answers over and over even though you are saying something different and asking different questions. After saying, I'd like to talk to a supervisor, they repeat the same script and say that the supervisor will only say the same thing as they are. Can't talk to anyone stateside. There are limited companies that can come out within 24 hrs or even on weekends when you have backed up toilets. I almost quit when they said they only had one company to serve my needs and couldn't service me on the weekend. However, the company did provide good service when they arrived.
