We've had AHS for over 25 years and have never received anything other than absolutely stellar service, both from AHS and from its contract providers. I recommend it to everyone. Over this long period of time, AHS has repaired or replaced everything from the HVAC to the kitchen sink garbage disposal to the garage door opener. We rest easy knowing that we're not going to be hit with a huge bill to replace a major appliance. AHS is the best!

AHS has covered every single claim that we've turned in. They were prompt and professional. Many home warranties try to “get out” of coverage, especially if you use the wrong terminology when reporting problems. AHS has never done that us. We highly recommend

I made a request for someone to come to my house and check an electrical issue that I’m having. They immediately arranged for an electrician to come by. I am aware that I have to pay a $125 deductible for every request, whether it is covered by the insurance or not. Basically, they don’t give free estimates. But worst than that is the fact that the electrician they se t wasn’t able to provide a diagnostic of what is causing my problem. So I am stuck having to pay $125 for someone to come to my house to tell me they don’t know. Now I’m wondering either to cancel the service or if I decide not to cancel if I’ll be charged another $125 if they send someone else to try to decipher what is causing my problem. Beware.

Adam came about our garage door opener not working. He checked it all out and found that it needed to be replaced. Adam was very efficient and has a great demeanor. I would highly recommend him. Ben came because our refrigerator was not working. He found that the compressor needed to be replaced. I appreciated his demeanor too. I would highly recommend him too!

My very first experience with AHS was better then I anticipated. My central AC unit stopped working, I called AHS and requested service. The process was easy and very good communication with AHS and repair company. They found that it was the thermostat that failed and needed replacing. This is where I thought the problems were going to start, I had a very expensive digital thermostat from Lennox and I figured they were going to give some cheap replacement but to my surprise they replaced it with an equivalent model since mine was no longer available and all I paid was the agreed service fee. Excellent outcome, glad I made the leap of faith and protected my home with AHS

I'm not a fix it type person, so to be able to have something fixed rather than buy new or do without. The small monthly fee is worth knowing I can get things fixed. There is the service fee, but you would pay that to any repairman. This is fixed with the service fee. Well worth it.

I left AHS to try out another company. AHS has always treated me well. Didn't leave them because of bad service, just was trying out a new company. I came back to AHS because I haven't experienced the level of excellent service with any other company. Great company! I never have to do all the footwork like I did with this other company. I love the way they send me local business owners, small business owners, women business owners. They are all about community and for a thriving cared for population, from my seat I see no agendas for prejudice in this company. They have honored all my requests and bitchy at times demands and I apolergize, no offense was meant, I was a struggling house wife who had a drama and her appliance broke just before guests arrived lol. Thats how kind they are they make you feel like they care, that your whole life is unraveling before your eyes and they just happen to me on the other end of the phone line having to listen to you have a melt down. I have always been happy with your company. Not this time, my furnace went out and the Fox company whom you sent to my house was trying to scam both your company and me. I called your customer service and they called them and told them that my transducer mother and control board were water damaged. The fox company told me if I worked with them they would not send those pictures of the water damage. I just had a local company look at it it needs a new control panel. Why isn’t your company concerned with the vendors you send out that are trying to scam your customers.

It took too long to fix the problem. The repair of my refrigerator was a two-part job to get my ice maker repaired. The technician was very knowledgeable and thorough in his work. The first try did not solve the problem, but he knew the parts needed to complete the repair and was back in two days to complete the job. Good work but i was without service for three weeks.

The company has delivered mostly as promised. Initial appointments are set up pretty quickly. The coordination and communication between AHS and their service providers is not great. For example, there is no way to check the status of anything online so you always need to call the service provider. And if the service provider isn't responsive, AHS doesn't help.

Unfortunately there are no 1/2 ratings, but I would rate AHS as a 4.5 rather than 4. I have been a customer for 17 years and although the prices have increased (that is the way of business), they have held consistent with providing EXCELLENT customer service and coverage. The 1/2 star demotion relates to three issues I had which took too long (in my opinion, upwards of three months) to resolve. Outside of those three problems, I would and do recommend AHS as a great home warranty company.

Having the ability to get things fixed is great as a homeowner, as it takes a lot of worry off your shoulders. The services provided by AHS are usually very good, but I have had issues with their contracted agents sometimes due to their lack of timeliness in getting recommendations submitted to AHS, unfriendliness, or difficulty getting hold of who they assigned to work on the work request. This three-way communication can be an issue at times.

It's very frustrating and difficult to communicate with customer service individuals that are located overseas. They have a hard time understanding issues that the customer is referring to. They can't go off script and just keep reading the same answers over and over even though you are saying something different and asking different questions. After saying, I'd like to talk to a supervisor, they repeat the same script and say that the supervisor will only say the same thing as they are. Can't talk to anyone stateside. There are limited companies that can come out within 24 hrs or even on weekends when you have backed up toilets. I almost quit when they said they only had one company to serve my needs and couldn't service me on the weekend. However, the company did provide good service when they arrived.

The coverage for plumbing is awful. I paid you $125 to call your plumber , and because my home (and the several hundred homes in my community) have the plumbing access vent on the roof, the work was not covered. I ended up paying the entire service plus your fee, out of pocket. I'm guessing this won't be the last time I feel ripped off.

The company does not covered anything’s. The experience I had with American home Shield,. Each time I had a service request, I had to pay a lot of money out of pocket. You do your monthly payment and when you request a service. You have to pay $125 upfront and when the technician comes out. They tell you, the company is not covering this and not covering that. You will end paying money out of pocket.

When it comes to approval of items AHS find excuses not to cover and contractors work for them and write things in favor of AHS, and force customers to pay non covered items even items are not bad to ripping customers and AHS and their contractors are very dishonest. Some contractors don’t give you any appointments for weeks and parts comes they do the same come to fix after weeks. Contractors don’t give priority to AHS customers.

I have had to fight with AHS for every service request I've made with the exception of one. I've had to write a letter because the plumber they sent told me one thing then lied on the report he sent to AHS. AHS sided with the report, telling me they don't cover equipment that's making noise if it hasn't failed. Just two days ago, the call center rep told me my tankless water heater wasn't covered because it's installed on the exterior wall of my house. Aside from inside a garage possibly, where else does one install a tankless water heater? Now I have to fight about this. It is clear to me the company looks for ways to not cover warrantied items initially, unless it is absolutely cut and dry and undeniable. I have no peace of mind or confidence that AHS will find some way to say no. This company also outsources its call center to countries where the employees seem trained to blow smoke in your face.

The contract is great and has covered a lot of work for me. The only reason I am not rating at 5 stars is that for rural communities the number of in-network service providers through AHS is limited and this has resulted in a few delays getting some items fixed.

It is a good service but expensive to keep up. You pay 100.00 plus per month, but if you need a service request, you pay another deductible 100.00 for a call. I see the value, but suppose I do not need a call within the year.

I was told both of the old appliances would be covered with your insurance. When the evaluator came out, the washer seemed to work so he said no replacement. The refrigerator freezer and door didn't even close and the evaluator said they had been misused, so no replacement. I moved into this condo with these appliances and had to pay full price for both replacements. I am not happy with the outcome.

I think that homeshield takes the cheap and easy way out of some claims. Especially when we are taking out a top of the line system and they replaced it with a problematic and far less superior product at the lowest cost possible. The system removed from our house was a Lenox top of the line system that lasted over 30 years. The system we were provided with was a base unit guaranteed to fail in the first year. Every unit that has been put in has failed in the first few months. That information and statistics come from several reliable companies that have been working with these units. Most insurance companies are required to replace with a similar product. Home shield used to be a good company, but the cost is going up and the service is getting worse. We are considering canceling it for our duplex and have already canceled it on our private home. If home shield continues down this path, we will not even be willing to provide it for our next home we sell.

It’s been almost a year since I enrolled with AHS. I have been satisfied with the 3 experiences I’ve had. I have a new microwave, a new ice maker and a quiet garage door. The garage door was way more than I expected but it seemed correct as the repairman serviced it.

It is nice to have a home warranty program to manage those unanticipated repair bills. That said AHS is really just a broker of hundreds if not thousands of local repair specialists and what typically happens is AHS reaches out to their network of repair specialists who you then have to wait for their respective appointment scheduling process just to get a troubleshooting appointment scheduled. That can be 2 to weeks out. Then once the technician arrives and completes the troubleshooting then he/she/they have to submit a report to AHS when then determines whether or not the problem is covered if yes then AHS must approve of any parts required. So all told it can take several weeks to get a covered repair completed. If you have a larger appliance like a hot water heater, oven, stove or other code regulated appliance ( i.e. , one that requires a government issued permit and inspection) you could be facing some big out of pocket expenses for the permitting and inspection and any upgrades required to meet new/update code requirements if you don’t have the top of the line warranty plan (Platinum Shield). The other thing to be aware of is there appears to be a shortage of qualified certain types of appliance repair techs across the country and OEMs give priority response to customers who purchased extended warranties vs AHS customers.

Overall AHS had been a great help to us in our time of need. There are some things that could probably be improved. For example we called regarding our A/C being out. The company AHS use to care for their service calls was closed. (It was after hours) It’s the middle of the summer here in Texas. We would have had to wait until the next day to even be scheduled. We ended up using a company that would come out that evening but had to paid full price. :-(

I loved the ease of this plan, however, the rates went up so high on my yearly renewal that had to call to cancel my policy. I am newly retired and just cannot afford such a large increase. When I called I could NOT just cancel my policy without the hassle of negotiating over and over only to be transferred to someone else that started negotiating AGAIN. Ok I have to admit that the negotiation ended up cheaper than what I was already paying, so of course I accepted. Lo and behold the first payment was not the negotiated price but the original! I was so angry After MANY times verifying my information to several people. I finally got a very nice guy who instantly canceled my policy and requested a refund for me . So now I am without any coverage and I don’t like it
