I have used AHS for a year now. In that time, we have had plumbing and electrical issues resolved quickly and efficiently. When our 21-year-old refrigerator compressor was dying, we received a NEW refrigerator. Granted, that took a few weeks, but that was an issue with Sears, not with AHS. I happily renewed for another year, because it's peace of mind for us seniors in older homes!

The repairman was great! He was on time and practiced social distancing in our home. He was very kind and repaired what was needed repairing. The only issues I had with the entire situation was the initial contact with AHS office. I was placed on hold once for a long time and I eventually hung up the call. The next morning I was able to get through to an operator relatively easy.

reliable, professional! I was very surprised that AHS was more concerned about my repair than I understood the issued was. I did not understand how serious my leaking water heater really was. I viewed my problem as a level 4 but AHS rightly understood I really has a level 10 emergency repair. AHS had the water heater replaced in less than 24 hrs.

I think the service was great and they were really quick and helpful. The only downside was I have a tankless water heater. The first company that was dispatched to help, does not work on tankless water heaters. So, I then had to wait until a second company was able to come out, so us not being able to stay in our home was extended by a day or two. I think that if having a tankless water heater makes a difference, customer service reps should ask that before determining what company to reach out to for the client. That way everyone is saved some time. The customers, like myself, may not know that this make a difference and that not everyone works on tankless water hearters. Otherwise, everything was great and every one was super friendly and helpful!

Recently phoned American Home Shield ('AHS') and started telephone claim to service Maytag range. AHS representative was professional in the handling of my claim. Within an hour, Service Contractor contacted me to confirm next day service. Upon timely arrival and thorough assessment of the range, the issue was identified, parts were ordered (and picked up) and successful repair was made. Thank you AHS for service well provided.

American Home Shield Lack of Customer Support Let me tell you about an incident that occurred this week with American Home Shield (AHS) and its subcontractor Winston Garage Doors. Winston came to our house as a result of a service request we made to AHS concerning our broken garage door. Per AHS request, we had already paid the deductible when Julian, the repairman from Winston Garage Doors, arrived. After looking at our garage door mechanism, Julian commented that although the currently installed garage springs were working, they were old. He then stated that he WOULD NOT REPAIR DOOR MECHANISM without replacing the springs. However, the actual problem that was causing the garage door not to open and close was a broken chain, not a problem with the springs. We explained to Julian that we would like to retain the old springs because if they do eventually break, this would be covered by our AHS policy, and that simply replacing springs that aren't broken would not be covered by the warranty company. We stressed that we needed the garage door to be fixed promptly to enable access to our car. Again, Julian said that he would not do the repair unless we bought new springs, and quoted us a price that included them. He then left our location, advising us to "call me if you change your mind." That same afternoon, we had another garage door company come out to provide a second opinion. They examined the garage door mechanism and told us that the springs were fine and acceptable. However, this was not a company contracted with AHS. Because we did need the door fixed that day (we are seniors with health issues and not prepared to engage in a prolonged dispute), we called Julian and asked him to come back. He did the repair--and changed the springs that were still functional and not in need of replacement. He charged us $1,287 for the repair of the broken chain and installation of new springs. He then submitted the quote/bid to AHS, telling them that the customer wanted an upgrade in the springs. This was untrue; all we wanted was a functioning garage door. We did not want, nor did we ask for, new springs. Of course, AHS would not reimbursed us after the repair was completed, so we called AMS and spoke to Peter the representative at AMS. He said there was nothing he could do. I even had him talk directly with Julian which he did and heard that Julian would not complete the work without their springs. I got back on the phone with Peter and he said there was nothing he could do. There was no customer support, so this practice will go on. Both companies are taking advantage of the customer. I have never had an experience like this before and felt I needed to write this and issue a warning: BEWARE OF Winston Garage Doors. They are SCAMMERS & CHEATERS. Moreover, American Home Shield doesn't seem to mind working with them.

They started off great four years ago, then they changed for the worst! I had standing water under my refrigerator, I called them to send someone out. It took them a week to send someone, all while I'm calling daily to check the status. They finally send someone and that company did nothing said it was a different service request and not appliance (which he was). I called ASH and the poor customer service individuals who clearly read from scripts told me I just had to wait longer!!!! This is terrible service! And why is it called American anything cause nobody who I spoke with was American! I felt like I was not being heard and they did not care about my issue. Oh and not to mention, the price went up drastically from years ago. Needless to say I just cancelled my subsribition cause why have it if it doesnt serve its purpose.

We started with them when we bought our house in 2019. They were very good for the first four years. While the annual fee is not insubstantial, the coverage of appliances and systems was good. They gave good reminders for tune-ups of systems to avoid major issues. We liked them very much. But our house was recently part of the fires in Southern California and the AC system was damaged. They refused coverage after the tech they provided (whose company wanted over $1000 for the job) said that a wire was cut due to rodent issues rather than due to the fire and remediation. That decision seemed to be wholly about money, and the customer service person had no recommendations other than me paying for a second tech to visit and give a second opinion. No understanding of the fire; no consideration that the tech may have been increasing the price and offering to pay for a second opinion; just reliance on their contractor and a contract term to deny coverage. It soured me on the relationship and I don't think we'll be using them in the future or extending them for this home.

I had a service call for my AC unit. They send out starlight hvac to fix it. The tech came over an supposibly did and also said that I was low on coolant so I end up paying close to 300.00 cause American Home Shield only pays 10.00 per pound. So when the tech left about 30 to 45 min the AC stopped working again with the same issue. The fan on the condenser frozen so I call starlight back and the same tech came over, looked from the top of the condenser to get a model number of the motor and told me that they needed to order a new motor. About 3 to 5 days later the same tech came over to install it, once he was done I noticed that he had left a total of 5 cables connected by zip ties on top of the condenser ( outside). When I approached him and mentioned this he said that the motor was out of factory and that the cables were too sort to connect inside and that they were no danger. Yet this are electrical cables 2 yellow and 2 purple and at the end they are wrapped up on black electrical tape. The other cable is the ground cable but he still insisted that they were no danger. I called American Home Shield and formed this to them. They said they were gonna do an investigation and get back to me. They never did so. I called him back and I spoke to a supervisor. The supervisor said that the company said that cables were fine. Earlier when I reported this, they got a hold of the company and they refused to come back so when I spoke to the supervisor, the supervisor said that the only thing that they can do have the same company come back and try to address the issue so when I request it for a different company because these guys never wanted to come back, the supervisor told me that I needed to pay another service fee to have another company, and inspected so American Home Shield was not willing to help me correct this the right way so they end up sending the same company Starlight Hvac to look at it and all they did was put the two yellow the two purple inside the unit zip tie in the same place and let the grounding cable all out of the unit

Pro: I like the quick response and the ease of filing a claim. I like that I can pay the membership monthly not yearly. Con: Companies that AHS send out are not always honest. One such who was giving a free review told me that my A/C was leaking freon and I needed to file a claim. After doing so the next company said I did not have a leak. AHS would return their fee. When an items needs to be replaced 30 days to make a decision would be better than 20 days.

I like the fact that I call AHS and they assign a vendor. The service charge is okay. Sometimes there is miscommunication problems between AHS and the vendor and this can hold up the ordering of parts or the approval of repair.

When I contacted American Home Shield due to no heat I was given only 1 contractor's name. That contractor was not available for almost a week. With no heat and frigid temperatures, it was imperative that I couldn't wait. The next contractor was Jay Jay Mechncal and they did a quick turnaround with replacing the furnace and had excellent customer service.

I have been satisfied with the service providers that AHS has referred me to. What concerns me that the cost of the monthly premium has gone up A LOT!!! I have been an AHS customer for over 25 years so I now how much the premium has increased. Furthermore, the service call has increased A LOT too to now $108 just for AHS to do the service request!! Theses increases have made it almost too high for me to continue with AHS. I am a 75 year old senior on a fixed income.

I like the convenience of filing service request. Like the tracking and asking the feedback how the vendor did it. I found some times some of the service companies does not do service but try to avoid service. Which as a customer I feel AHS is behind it. I also came across some companies charging too much on customer as well as AHS. You as company should help the customer when a customer is getting charged exubarent price.

I am customer for about 4-5 months. I have had to call for service, ie plumbing. Service was scheduled in reasonable time within few days. Plumber sent out on time, could not stop leak after tighten valve (?) so he changed the faucet. The leak was fixed.

Everytime I have had these minor issues, the claim was completed and no questions asked. I always wonder when I have something major that cannot be fixed, if the company will honor their commitment and replace the item... The only problem I have had so far is that I opened a claim that was NOT covered because it was out of my house (plumbing, but outside, is NOT covered) and they still wanted to keep my $125 copay... which was absurd.

It was very easy to schedule service. The technician came to the appointment on time and was able to quickly resolve the issue. He explained what the issue was and I will be able to take care of the problem myself if it happens again. One on the bolts used to secure the handle on the toilet tank was loose.

Your company used to give its customers the highest quality service. Now there seems to be a denial and negative policy in place when it comes to repairs and replacements. My daughter cancelled her membership I was about to do the same except for a helpful and supportive representative named Gabs who went the extra mile to address my concerns and actually help me and my daughter to renew both of our memberships. The process of filing a claim is very simple. The response time was good, but it took a week to get a service technician to home, and another two weeks to receive the replacement dishwasher. The technicians installing the dishwasher did not clean up after themselves as others have done. We are pleased with the overall process but would like to see improvement in response time.

AHS apparently solved the very serious problem in contacting a live person. On line, AHS now has a number (or email) for a phone call back. They promptly called and resolved my issue --- which was determining whether the repair was covered. It was covered, the service was great and very efficient.

Our experience over the last 15+ years with AHS has been hit or miss. On the negative side, we have had to reject some of their contractors because, for example, one of the contractors truly deserved their 1.4 out of 5.0 Yelp rating. We have had furnace repairs and hot water tank replacement where the workers "jury rigged" a solution that we needed to live with or needed to be corrected in a future visit. In another case, we had to wait for nearly a month for our old (and eventually replaced) refrigerator to be repaired because the first technician completely misdiagnosed the problem. On the positive side however, our last call for our clothes dryer went extremely well. After I placed my request to AHS and then saw who they assigned to service it, I immediately called AHS and they assigned a different company who did a fantastic job. And in fairness, most of the AHS contractors have been ok to good. However, sometimes, it takes more time than we expected for the problems to be resolved.

I have had great service and I’ve had bad service with AHS, we have been customers for 21 years, in the past they were a very trusted company and provided great service, I have had a mixed bag lately. I have had a few unexpected claims. I did have great service last week with an plumber, however we had another plumber over a month ago so had a cracked disposal and it was addressed, so it caused water damage my husband and I will need to repair but the plumber that came out just a few days ago had it diagnosed quickly and a new disposal in about 20-30 minutes. Working still with another claim, the stove went out and they are requiring a rebuild of our stove, have been dealing with this since around Thanksgiving so late November, the appliance repair company they are using for this has been great to work with and we can still use our stovetop but not the oven, it could be worse but it’s challenging.

Peace of mind. However, there are few options through their customer service. For instance, my refrigerator is currently broken. Is has been broke since November. The company they contract with, Sears Home Service, keeps cancelling and rescheduling the appointment for one month out. The next one is 14 Jan. 2025. I am beyond frustrated. The parts arrived back in November but they keep cancelling. I called and AHS is of no help. I spoke with their "Escalation Department." They said since the parts are here there's nothing they can do. I am very worried Sears will just cancel again. What do I do???

The staff that I engage with via the phone are quick to answer the call and help where they can. However, my last experience with an issue resulted in a delay of about 3 days for the technician to visit the home as AHS only had 1 electrical contractor for our area. Once the technician arrived, he was able to correct the issue promptly. Our rates continue to rise (without our agreeing to a higher rate or advance notification of the change).

Claim process is OK, I wish I could order from any appliance vendor I choose, I have had nothing but problems with Lowes. Now in the middle of not one but two claims because of shotty delivery and installation services and GE is now coming out to inspect what I think is a secondary installation issue. They damaged my driveway and compromised my laundry room cabinet. If you are going to award a cash value for an appliance, I should be able to shop where I want.

I submitted a repair request on the 18th of November got a repairman to come out and he told me it would take more to repair than replace. Your company was not happy with his results so you sent another company to look at my washer. Took them until the 22 nd of November to look at my washer. They recommended repair vise replacement. on 25th I called your company and you indicated the repair request for parts was not yet submitted. You call the company and then they called me and their parts department has not submitted the request for parts. So as of today 26 November I have been without my washer for 9 days and parts will be requested and it can take up to 10 more business days. To me this is just unacceptable. That is why you get only 3 stars this time.

American home shield has been very helpful with our home repairs. You pay a set fee and a contractor comes out to repair and analyze the issue. We have had lots of items repaired and some replaced by American Home Shield . I recommend to all my friends.

Whenever we have an issue, service person comes out and it's quickly approved. It does take a LONG time to get someone out, but I know that's just due to the service people busy schedules. I have already reccomended 3 friends to sign up for this warrenty in the one month I've lived here :)

AHS has covered every single claim that we've turned in. They were prompt and professional. Many home warranties try to “get out” of coverage, especially if you use the wrong terminology when reporting problems. AHS has never done that us. We highly recommend

I made a request for someone to come to my house and check an electrical issue that I’m having. They immediately arranged for an electrician to come by. I am aware that I have to pay a $125 deductible for every request, whether it is covered by the insurance or not. Basically, they don’t give free estimates. But worst than that is the fact that the electrician they se t wasn’t able to provide a diagnostic of what is causing my problem. So I am stuck having to pay $125 for someone to come to my house to tell me they don’t know. Now I’m wondering either to cancel the service or if I decide not to cancel if I’ll be charged another $125 if they send someone else to try to decipher what is causing my problem. Beware.

I'm not a fix it type person, so to be able to have something fixed rather than buy new or do without. The small monthly fee is worth knowing I can get things fixed. There is the service fee, but you would pay that to any repairman. This is fixed with the service fee. Well worth it.
