On October 9, 2018, I submitted a claim for my washing machine not working properly with Choice Home Warranty. The first appointment available was for 10/15 with Bound South Inc. At this appointment, the tech was inside my home for roughly 16 minutes. He did not bring in any tools beyond a blanket nor properly examine the washer. I filed a complaint with Choice & they offered to send a second company out, Apalachee Home Services [AHS]. This appointment was on October 31st. I received a report from AHS stating, “the unit is not working due to a bad rotator shaft & stripped bolt.” They advised the washer “needed to replace the outer tub ASM rotator shaft and bolt” and with the cause listed as “normal wear and tear.” The next day, November 1, I received an email of denial from Choice with the reasoning, “It has been determined that the dryer [washer] at the home was not fully assembled upon the techs arrival and there are some damaged screws from a previous repair.” I filed an appeal with Choice as well as called AHS. I spoke with AHS and their rep stated they never sent the diagnosis Choice was claiming and stand by the report I have. They additionally stated Choice called and pressed them to say the first tech company caused the damage, which they did not state. AHS called Choice & told them they never stated what is being claimed by them. Amanda, at AHS, followed up via email to me to inform me of her conversation with Choice and they told her I could have another opinion due to the miscommunication. I was assigned a Case Manager by Choice, Natasha W, who said Choice stood by their denial. I explained to Natasha, as well as other Choice employees, I have time stamped cameras of both tech companies, the first never even took apart the washer nor had any tools, the washer is only 2.5 years old and has never been worked on or even examined aside by AHS on October 31, 20118 and AHS their self has submitted two items in writing to me in addition to calling Choice directly stating Choice’s claim isn’t true. I fully believe Choice Home Warranty is a fraud and knowingly creates false accusations and reports.

*** Update: As I suspected the response from Choice Home Warranty below is just total lip service. They offered no assistance, just gave excuses, and would not look into the matter. My advise is to stay far away from this company. ***** I had Choice Home warranty for about a year. The list of what they don't cover is endless and extensive. I had to fight tooth and nail to get them to pay for the things they did cover. Some of the repair people they send are fly by nights. I had one show up and collected his fee and never came back to fix the problem. My advise to anyone is to just put the money aside that you would be paying monthly as a repair fund and not waste your money with this company. These people are just not worth it.

This is the second time I have use them and both times it has not worked. The first the technician left me with a new problem with my refrigerator because it next leaked water until after the repair. The second time I used them I got a technician that did not want to do the job in fact he wanted a extra $50.00 from me when he came out. I agreed but he decided that he had to check to make sure everything was covered. After plumbing company found out that everything was covered accept the basket strainer on my sink the technician did not come back the next day after taking my copay and the office would not answer the call when I call them but answered when CHW call them and the price has went up to $152.50 if I want them to come out a do work now plus my copay. The technician did no work at all and I paid him when he came in to do the work on 10/29/18. The hassle is just not worth it.

I used them on two separate occasions for big issues on my rental and personal property to to repair the HVAC system and they FAILED to deliver. On one property they said there was rust on the coil which they wouldn't repair because I should've cought it during annual cleaning (I accepted that). However, my other system was cleaned annually, but wasn't cooling. They added Freon. When that didn't help, they instructed me to get a leak test. When I found I had a leak which I had to pay $250 for they said they wouldn't cover the system if there was a leak. WTH? They essentially find ways to get out of any major job. However, they will come out and repair small jobs like a faulty oven or dryer that doesn't cost much. The customer service won't be good either. I don't plan on renewing my contract when it ends ( if you cancel before the end of your contract you get back a prorated amount minus Administrative fees).

Choice Home Warranty company is nothing but a complete scam! They will lie to you in a minute they received the technician’s recommendation to fix or replace your system, because they don't want to follow through on the technician recommendations. I have experienced this type of issue on 2 occasions. First Choice home warranty will maliciously change the contents in the Technician report and state otherwise. When I called them to point out their lies, they offered me 3 free months service, but still refused to replace my AC as recommended by the Technician. What kind of a company is that? All they do is to take your monthly premium, but refused to render the service per your contract. I am reporting them to BBB now and consumers affair; and possibly take civil action against them for not honoring their written contract. Choice Home Warranty do not have to be in business to rip off their customers. Please choose another home warranty provider and stay away from choice home warranty.

My work order was not fulfilled completely. I requested to have my leaky toliet repaired and my leaky ceiling repaired. The ceiling was repaired the plumbing company said the only received only one work order and refused to repair the toliet. The plumbing company rescheduled for Saturday between 11-3, they are coming late. I wanted the repair done on that schedule because I had surgery and this is a real inconvience.

My only dissatisfaction is the hidden exclusions for certain appliance issues not being covered unrelated to negligence (if appliance is leaking - typically it's not covered). This has burned me a few times in the past with Choice claims. I feel this is unfair to the customer.

1st time I have been with this company for a warranty & I am NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL! Because of the requirements this company sets , the companies they send out to fix things ends up costing its customers more time down on whatever needs fixed. I really would of hated to have my furnace quit in the dead of winter!!! It was the worst experience I ever had to deal with!!!! If I wouldn't have gotten on the phone with them and treated them like piece of crap, I honestly believe I would still be waiting for it to be fixed! I already had to wait 2 days ! There is absolutely NO REASON why a company they send out to do a repair cant fix the problem then and there!!!! These companies should already have the information needed as to what the warranty company will cover!!! The worst part was the fact the I was the one doing all the work making the calls to git it fixed while the warranty company just sat there telling me they were waiting on call from the tech??? Really!!!!!!?? It should have been approved the 1 time he called it in!! then it would have been fixed THAT DAY!!! This company needs & should have already given lists to the companies they use as to what is & isn't covered period!!!! This 1st experience was the WORST to say the least!!! I paid them the money AND ended up having to do all the work making all the calls to get it fixed too!!!!

My Kitchen Aid dish washer went out. Service was prompt to come and determine that the wire harness needed to be replaced. Service man said parts and labor would be $189 but found that the part was no longer available. I elected to have it replaced. First "offer" from Choice Home Warranty was $189 for replacement. I told the company that a replacement would cost $300 for the bottom of price of a bottom brand. Kitchen Aid replacement equivalent would be $more than $400. They agreed to pay me $250. I lost $100 on a bottom price dishwasher. Replacement is a joke.

Called about frig not working, technician came out, checked frig said it was the compressor, charged me $60.00 instead of the $45.00 on contract. Said he would send in diagnosis to Choice, 4 days later Choice had not received diagnosis, called and emailed tech, would not answer or reply to myself or Choice. I was told to get my own technician, pay another service call, submit findings to Choice so repairs can be done. Of course Choice Warranty said the refig is NOT COVERED. They are nothing but a rip off. Always find a loop hole not to pay for repairs. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON CHOICE WARRANTY

Do. Not. Buy. From. This. Company. They are the worst. There has been an excuse for every single claim I’ve made, as to why it isn’t covered. And they take forever. And you aren’t allowed to upgrade any equipment at your own expense. So you have to wait until whoever they pick can get around to you, and you have to accept whatever equipment they decide you can have. Period. I went weeks without heat, just to replace my whole system myself. They helped with ZERO plumbing issues. And now I have to be an entire week with no hot water, and can only have the basic water heater model that they allow. Unless of course I do what I always do, and go hire someone myself. Which is why they make money. Don’t buy a policy from them.

Beware the positive reviews, they have an action against them on the BBB for compensating people for positive reviews. I had an HVAC repair claim and the tech showed up. Great guy, determined the fan was broken, replaced it. System worked for a week before it broke again so the same Tech came back. A capacitor was blown. He replaced that but it didn’t fix it, the compressor was cycling on/off. Created a second claim and waited over a week. They denied the claim saying something broke the compressor early and they wouldn’t be paying for it because they only cover normal wear and tear. I explained that the capacitor had worn out and likely caused the issue, I told them I wish I had never signed up for service and the rep replied he would forward me to the cancelation department with no caring or empathy. Just, too bad, here’s a cancel rep. I read some of the other reviews about how they refuse to fix things for illegitimate reasons but I never knew how bad it was. Do not use these people. Other companies are a bit more expensive but you actually get service. Stay far far away from this company. They will find a way to cheat you.

One star is actually generous. Our water heater hasn’t been working properly for almost 2 months and this company has sent out 4 plumbers so far and they still refuse to pay for a replacement. This one is 15 years old!!!!! which means parts aren’t available anymore and they are still refusing to pay. There is fire rollout which means it’s not safe and they are being the worst. When they said they wanted a second opinion of their first plumber (who recommended a new heater), I didn’t know that meant 3 extra plumbers! And one didn’t want to come after he heard which warranty company it was because he was not paid for a previous service. Every plumber has recommended a new heater because it’s 15 years old and it’s not up to code. Not to mention, you need to make sure you have at least one hour free to talk to them because they keep you on hold longer than you get to actually speak to them. And don’t expect to get it all done in one phone call, more like several calls every day! They are the absolute worst home warranty I’ve ever had to deal with and it’s not even worth paying for home warranty when they act like this!

so far after 5 days still do not have hot water heater fixed or replaced. someone came out to fix it, all we were told was it needed replaced. still don't know what is wrong with it. I was emailed by CHW that they would give us $250.00 buyout, which will not fix or replace the water heater. when I called CHW said a supervisor would call me back, I am still waiting after 3 days, no one has called, I email, the email back says someone will contact me from the service dept. still no one does. this is my first experience with CHW, I have used another in my previous house and they are much better, if an appliance needs replacing, then the service company would replace it and I would be up and running within a week. there is no communication within this company! I am very displeased!

Called this company on Thursday evening because of a plumbing issue. Both toilets in our home were not working due to the main line being clogged. They scheduled a technician for Friday between 11-3, but Friday morning when I attempted to reach the technician I was not able to. I was in constant contact with the representatives with Choice home and continuously given the run around. I was repeatedly told the technician would be calling me ASAP, and at 3:00 when he didn’t show, it was more excuses. By 7:00 they had rescheduled the appointment for Tuesday morning !!! 5 days without the use of toilets? With a sick child and a disable wife? How is that acceptable? When I called my own plumber, the representative from Choice Home gave me a phone number to what was supposed to be the authorization department so I could be reimbursed for paying the plumber, but instead gave me the phone number for the Seneca’s Resort and Casino! I am very disappointed in this company and will be canceling my coverage at the end of this month, and going to another company!

My AC quit blowing. I filed a claim online on 6/11. It was hot in Alabama. I called to speak to an agent to ask if this was considered an emergency service. I just wanted an idea of how many days it might be. After a long hold (over 30 minutes) I reached an agent who was the least helpful customer service person I have ever dealt with. Wouldn't give me any specifics but told me to keep checking the claim status online. It was 3 days before they let me know they had scheduled a repair person to come inspect it. The appointment was set for the next week. I wasn't going to wait that long with no AC on a hot house with my kids so I just had someone come fix it that day and paid for it myself. It was fixed within 2 hours of me calling a repair company myself. Why can't Choice get the same kind of results?! A few weeks later, there was an issue with the pipe in the wall to my kids' shower. I filed a claim online but the website said they needed more info and I needed to call. Yay. Another long 20+ minute hold to talk to one of their people. She said it wouldn't be covered because they don't cover faucets. I explained that it wasn't the faucet but the pipe inside the wall. She said it still wasn't covered. I told her that was ridiculous and that I wanted to cancel. She said ok and that she would take transfer me to that department. I get transferred. Now instead of being on hold with no idea how long it will be, there is a message that states the estimated hold time and an offer for them to call me back instead of holding. I decline and wait on hold. The estimated hold time passes and still no one. The message is repeated every few minutes offering the call back. It has been 20 minutes more than my original estimated hold time so I finally give in and accept the call back offer. Guess what? No one ever called me back! So I wrote them a letter stating that I wished to cancel immediately. I went into my account online and changed my credit card information to a visa gift card that didn't have enough left to cover the charge if they still billed me on the 28th as usual. I never hear back from them. Nothing in writing and no voicemails. Then on 9/7 these DISHONEST people charged my original credit card (which was no longer on file as my card for billing) for two months of coverage. I filed a dispute with my credit card company as soon as the pending charge went through and filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Now I'm spending some time writing reviews anywhere I can find to warn others about this company. STAY AWAY FROM CHOICE HOME WARRANTY!!!!

I've been a customer for 5 or 6 years and only had to call them for minor stuff usually it take a day or two for a tech to arrive if you're lucky. Some techs are good other don't know their head from their buttocks. Well my A/C went out so I called it would be at least a day for someone to arrive. My son has nerve damage and break out in huge hives/rash so I need a tech ASAP. I called CHW they said it shouldn't be an issue to have my tech call when he arrive. As soon as he arrived I called the 800# Mary sent me to the authorization department where I was on hold over an hour. The tech couldn't stay because he had other jobs so I continued to hold. I spoke with Jeremy he said I wish he could of waited this sounds like an issue we can take care of right away. I explained he waited on hold over 45 minutes and had other customers. He said it's not uncommon to wait over an hour but all I had to do was submit the invoice for reimbursement. He said even better I'll send you to another department where they can address your issue right away, so once again I was transferred. I was told to email the invoice to info@choicehomewarranty.com this is common for a tech to wait on hold for so long but the invoice could be processed. Today I called spoke with Shaber she stated all the reps were wrong they would not accept the detailed invoice the tech needed to call. She said they would not call him, there is no direct line and he needs to wait until someone can speak to him even if he has to wait over an hour. WOW this is BS in my book how about hire more people to handle the call or accept invoices. No wonder it take days for a tech to arrive they're too busy waiting on hold.

I called in the problem on Wednesday, a tech came out on Thursday and indicated that he had completed the repair and for us to call in a couple hours if not working. We called all day on Friday and they kept putting us on hold. We were left the entire Holiday weekend without a working air conditioner.

My AC quit on a Friday and it was 104 degrees. They were able to get a technician there on Monday to repair it. The tech was friendly efficient and quickly found and repaired the problem.

These charatains look for every excuse not to pay. Tons of fine print in your “contract” They’ve had scores of lawsuis and the PA Atty general has a govt handler assigned to them they have so many complaints. But because they are so many, good luck getting the state to assist you with an appeal. I submitted one and it went no where. God help you if you have a failure late Friday because they have little or not techs that work weekends. Have a thermal expansion valve go bad on your ac? Read the fine print: Not covered. Why? Simply Because it’s a high fail item and $1200 expensive. They are there to take your money and leave you Need a unit replaced? Nope. They won’t actually replace your unit but offer just a fraction of a cash payment to actually replace. Eg say your stove breaks down and they can’t fix it for cheap - they will look up what the cheapest stove online is and pay you that amount regardless if your stove was a high end model. And no they don’t include shipping, tax or installation. Have a problem they can’t wiggle out from under? They will just buy your contract out and leave you hanging. Horrible horrible company. They should be raided by the state and shut down.

The salesperson spoke very fast and even tho I signed up I really didn't get the questions out that I wanted answers to so now I am waiting for the package to show up so I will know just what I have ended up purchasing. He was pleasant but some what like a used car salesman, I am 78 (79 in October) so I think for the older people it they spoke a bit slower you might get more business.
