We have had two claims. The first was a dishwasher. It was a Bosch. They only would pay $299 to replace it so needless to say we had to pay a lot out of pocket to get a decent dishwasher. On top of that they take 30 days to send you a check. The last claim was for a refrigerator that was not cooling. It has been almost a month and it is still not fixed. They claim it is Covid, but in reality they do not want to fix things. They will gladly let you find someone yourself and reimburse you what they want, but it is too much work for them to find someone. After three calls they found someone, who came out, diagnosed a leak in the refrigerant, but they refuse to fix it as "they don't do that" so we have to wait who knows how long to have them find someone. Meanwhile milk, leftovers, and lots of other stuff goes rotten in the fridge. They don't care and are super cheap as far as fixing things.

First and foremost going to give my honest opinion from switching from American Home Shield to Choice Home Warranty. This is by far the worst home warranty company around, promised me they were better than American Home Shield and came to find out it was all lies!! Had a problem with my A/C Unit and they refused to pay for the repair being needed saying I had to pay for the rest of the cost which was $1600 out of pocket plus their $65 service fee!!(Totally Insane Charges) Even spoke to their claim manager (Peta Gaye Campbell) which was horribly unprofessional in every level possible!! She repeatedly kept telling me they weren’t American Home Shield and if I wasn’t happy with their decision, there was nothing she could do about it. They really don’t care or value their loyal customers they have, all they care is about them getting their premium each month. When it comes to repairs they will do everything on their part to not pay for the whole amount and expect their customers to end up paying more than them!! Lastly I would never recommend this company to anyone I know, I would rather pay a little more monthly and get a company that is trustworthy and professional with their value customers!! Choice Home Warranty is a complete rip-off, unprofessional, and misleading “COMPANY” for anyone’s home needs!!!

My first claim with Choice Home Warranty was the most frustrating and unprofessional experience I have ever had with any business. The appointment originally scheduled was changed twice without anyone confirming with me if the day or time was good for me. The appointment change was sent to my email which I do not check frequently so I found out late but went on to change my plans to be available for the repairman. It was scheduled between 11:00am and 3:00pm. While I was waiting for the repairman, at 10:25am, I received another email changing the date to the next week. I called Choice Home Warranty and asked for management. I was transferred to the resolutions department. The manager claimed to have put out am escalation claim for another company. He specifically said that a company picked it up and would be calling me but no one did. I called the next day to cancel my contract because I told them that I have a family member who was in the hospital actually in hospice and cannot be apart of this confusion . I was charged a penalty and could not believe the blatant lack of respect by the personnel stating that I was not willing to work with them. They appear to have no real leadership or good business ethics.

Most of the time I have gotten Techs that had no idea what they were doing and could fix the repair properly. So far, this tech seems like he knows what he's doing.

Recently, i had a water heater issue and i called the choice home warranty. Their technician check the water heater and said that this water heater cannot be repairable so it should be changed. When i report this to choice, i was asked to provide full home inspection report and i provided now they are asking proof of repair list in the inspection. I am worrying that if the water heater leak or completely broke anytime and it may damage or float my attic!

I have had service for almost a year. On September 6 I put on my first claim. Was told that it would be dispatched 24-48 hours. Today is October 2. No one has been dispatched. Have called almost every day. now I have been assigned a case manager. When I call she has voicemail box . I have left several messages. No reply from her. Tried calling customer service and they tell me since I have a case manager they can not give me no information. In the meantime I have to go to laundry mat. My household is five adults and two children. I have spent in last month almost 100.00. They have very poor service. Do not recommend.

Choice Home Warranty (CHW) sent a Service Vendor to our home that holds an 'F' rating with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), was sued in 2019 by a customer for fraud along with multiple other lawsuits, and requested we sign a contract agreeing the State of Missouri's Government is corrupt and they could not be held accountable for our state's inability to enact laws. This Service Vendor was sent to our home by CHW to repair a refrigerator, yet the technician that arrived had never once worked this type of appliance. They reassigned a claim for a refrigerator four times over the course of 38 days. We had to have the refrigerator repaired on our own and CHW has refused to reimburse us for a claim they approved. We have requested to cancel our policy numerous times. We refuse to allow anyone from Choice Home Warranty’s Vendor Network into our home as CHW is not properly vetting their Service Vendors. CHW has denied claims that should have been approved per our contract. Choice Home Warranty is a dishonest and unprofessional company that has taken advantage of us, made us feel unsafe in our own home, and has done nothing to try and resolve any of these major issues. We mailed a 60 page letter with back up documentation to CHW's corporate office on August 27, 2020 requesting to cancel our contract and be reimbursed, and heard nothing from them until we filed a complaint with the Missouri Attorney General's office. CHW is in breach of their contract with us - Section A. Coverage, "During the coverage period, Our sole responsibility will be to arrange for a qualified service contractor."

Once you put in a claim that will cost $'s it be will denied no matter if you the proof of what caused the problem. Even when they can get someone to come to your house and check the problem and tell them that it was not caused by the customer the claim will be denied. the next thing they can't get technicians to come to your house for they give them problems getting paid. My last two claim was denied because they where unable to get technicians to come and service the account.i had to wait 8 days for the to get an ek]lectrican and finally when they couldn't get one, they told me to get one. And when I did they denied the claim. I would be very careful in doing business with theCHOICE for they are not trust worry. My last two claim amounted to 1-$235.00 and $812.00 for a COOKTOP

My washing machine broke and was more cost effective to replace than to fix. I paid $65 service fee for Sears to come tell us it was broken. The warranty company will mail me a check for $299 to replace the machine (which can take 30 days). I can't find a washing machine for $234 (299 minus 65) anywhere to replace the machine! This is the 2nd time they have lowballed me for the cost of an appliance. They claim to replace the appliance, but only give a small amount of money to do so. I have also paid $65 in the past for the same machine and the company said it was fixed, but it wasn't. Choice made me pay another service fee for the same issue. So, technically I need to find a washing machine for $169 if I want to break even (not counting what I paid for the warranty). I would spend your money on another warranty company.

Put claim in for hot water heater not working. On Aug. 14,2020 it took over 30 days to fix it . In the meantime it leaked over 5 ft of water in my basement taking out a 8 year old furnance. They replaced the hot water heater but refused to replace my furnance. Was told by Monique R that they refused to replace it. Because they dont do emergencies. I explained if they had gotten someone into fix the hot water heater in less than 30 days . They would not have to replace the furnance. They still refused. I spent 25 days with out water period. Had to have city shut off water. I have a 5year old and im in my 60's. Now I have to find away to come up with $3500 to have furnance replaced and im on a fixed income. Winter is around the corner and I have no heat. This company sucks.

I know this will never be seen on the page that you post all your shining glowing reviews but here you go. Only one other warranty place has screwed me over like you people and that is a car warranty who's name I wont mention but I'll never trust chris b or ice t again. Now heres what happened with you. First there was an 85.oo dollar copay and because one of your past contractors ended up not taking the job they reimbursed me that 85 by the way the refused the job because they say you still owe them money for work done in 2018. The out of pocket with the new company was 300 dollars and they did an outstanding job but had little good to say about you as well. Heres the brake down If it stood 85 copay Add 300 out of pocket Add 2 weeks for work to be done That's actually 385 out of pocket I researched lowes and home depot and I could have got my own had my brother put it in for free and had it done the day I realized it My water heater was even done. Never use this companies do it yourself and get reimbursed option I fear you will not get paid Jim Swartwood

It took 3 techs and 2 months to fix a minor stove issue & the same to replace a ceiling fan. My last Choice Warranty issue was you determined a power surge damaged a circuit board no proof. I recommended both my adult children to Choice and they had nothing but issues & demanded their money back. I am a real estate company owner and we write 50 home warranties a year, I would not recommend Choice to anyone.

Avoid this company at all costs. I've had their service for about 4 months never had to use it until recently. My very first claim is related to my pool heater that quit working and Choice denied it. They've stated that the failure of the unit happened over time and not during the contract duration. My pool system was in perfect working condition when I started my contract and failed about four months into my contract. They opened an investigation to look into why my claim was denied and all the person did was to call me to say the same absurd response. This is not a trustworthy company, they will take your money until you need their services and at that point they will deny, leaving you no option other than canceling the policy and they keep your money. Avoid this company at all costs. You are better saving the money you spend with them to use to fix your equipment when it breaks.

UPDATED 10/28/20 : Again after a reply that they would look into my claim, same lowballing, having to explain the same thing again and again to multiple people, one Case Manager, multiple Customer Service reps and no resolution on the claim, on top of it they make you read the whole agreement to prove some point which is not even there in the agreement. They only make you try to agree with their claim amount not listening to the CUSTOMER at all!!! STAY AWAY from this COMPANY!!!!!!!! If you want to claim something, be ready to call, email and wait for 2 months without any responses. I made a claim for the first time with Choice Warranty on Aug 4 2020, after a few days a technician shows up, does the check up and takes the service fee, doesnt return my calls nor does any updates and after complaining multiple times with customer servicer reps another technician comes in after a week, and the I had to follow up with him again and again and again, and with Choice warranty customer service again and again and again for a whole month, I dont understand why they would not do it unless I remind them to, there's no follow up at all. After all this they decide the parts for my refrigirator are not available, that too for two times, all this while I had to either 'patiently wait' or explain the same thing to a new customer service rep again. Then, they assign my case to a Case Manager, who I repeatedly had to call everyday and leave a Voice message as it directly goes to VM, for 10 days, complain to customer service rep about the same, who always have the same answer, they cannot transfer the call to anyone else, all they can do is 'Escalate' and I would get a call back in 24 hours, guess what I had to call back every 24 hours and explain again to then to 'Escalate' again for another 24 hours which went along for 18 days. And after all this, the case manager has one deal for me, take it or leave it It doesnt even cover 1/3rd of my refrigerator costs, and apparently I cant talk to anybody other than the Case Manager and they have only one offer, that's it. What's the point of having an insurance when you cannot repair, cannot replace, and the only replacement you can give is 1/3rd of the current price of the refrigerator on the market, what should I be doing with it? I had to explain this to multiple people again and again and again, I dont understand how they can treat their customers this way.

I was told by HCW, that I would have to pay for a full year and that my warranty starts 30 days after initial sign-up. Also, once I report an issue, I would get a call back from Choice within 24 hours or I can cancel and get a full refund. After 33 days, I reported an issue which I didn't hear back for a few days and after several calls and email I was told that it would normally take 24 hours but we are in COVID times and realistically, it will take weeks. When I asked to cancel the policy, she wasn't happy and provided another number. It took me many calls & disconnects to finally get someone which after a few minutes hung up on me... I kept sending emails & called and finally got another person and asked to cancel my policy. She told me that she would have to deduct $83 from my full amount. The agent didn't find it amusing when I said that these are Covid times and I need my full amount back as promised by original agent who signed me up. It took them less than a min to get my full money and two weeks to get a reduced refund.

If there was a zero rating, I would include it here. There are truly no words to describe the dissatisfaction with CHOICE Home Warranty. The employee's are untruthful, not transparent and very unresponsive, mainly the Paralegal by the name of Rebecca C. When questioned about a replacement product she matter of fact stated she found online for $700 (built-in microwave) when there is absolutely no built-in microwaves under $1500, I knew I was dealing with a liar. I let her know that I would like her to send me the link because who would not want to pay such a great price for a built-in microwave and save money, especially during CV19 right? Well, when she was challenged to send the link so that I could make the purchase, dead radio silence. She could not produce, nor would she respond to my email. And after 7 follow-on phone calls and 3 additional emails, we still have not heard from Rebecca. I have been without a microwave for a month now due to CHOICE Home Warranty's lack of "anything" to replace my built-in microwave. So people, please know that you do have choices, and CHOICE should not by your CHOICE when seeking an efficient home warranty company. You should "RUN" the other way. I've experienced two other home warranty companies whose deductible is a bit more than Choice Home Warranty, but believe me, it's well worth it to pay the higher price than to receive the negligent support of a home warranty company where you pay a hefty monthly fee only to be disappointed. Absolutely awful company.

Replacement value when they choose to give you $ is FAR below retail. I was offered $299 for a dryer. Cheapest on line of same capacity and features was $796 on sale. Disputed with company and they raised it to $500. Im still out $300 PLUS the cost for installation!! They give money based on what THEY can buy not what is retail. And when they increased the amount to $500 , that was based on what they could find that was comparable... a no name generic brand. So many loopholes in their “liability “ clauses. I have been with them for atleast five years. If you want a company to pay for minor repairs ... it’s ok. ( although most times they can’t find me a technician and I have to get one myself and pay out of pocket and wait for reimbursement. That’s a pain). But if your getting this coverage thinking that they repair or replace everything to your needs or standards....... read and understand the fine print !!! They don’t

The serviceman that came out was alright. He was caring and did what he could do to assist me. What I did not like was the $226.00 dollars I was offered to buy another top stove is not enough to cover the cost of a new one. I shopped around at different places and the cheapest one I came across was $500.00. I need assistance in looking for a cheaper top stove somewhere else.

You lied about my A/C problem. The unit is only 3 years old and the tech did not remove the cover for the Coil so there is no way you can say it was dirty and not maintained. All he did was take pictures from the outside of the unit.

Decided to join Choice Home Warranty for the simple fact that my disability is getting worse. Now they are calling me a LIAR. Rust happen in North East Ohio for sure. On anything made with metal as Hot Water tanks!!! Just like vehicles which rust, it does not cause problems in the beginning!! After time it will though. They say your appliances will wear out in time and will will cover them, repair or replace!! Bull unless you are willing to fight with them to do what they say. I am being told that the rust started, has been leaking long before I made a claim and it had not been working!! Like said Bull. Once they sent a tech's name and phone to me, I had them come out, it was reported to them as normal wear and tear on my 30 gallon HOT WATER TANK. Their saying it happened long before and I just decided to do something about it!! All HOT WATER TANKS made out of metal and welded top bottom on them will leak in time once rust develops. Unlike cars though house hold ones do not get replace till a leak happens like mine did, 6-7 years after being installed!! I am getting screwed by them.

My husband and I are having issues with our AC unit that is leaking water into our furnace. Both are ruined plus we had to rip out part of a wall due to mold and water damage. And due to a delayed response from them, our hardwood floors are experiencing damage as well. They have done absolutely nothing to rectify the situation. The customer service is terrible. We have owned our home for about a year and a half. Both of us are distraught as we invested our hard earned money into this company I would also like to add that even though CHW responded to my review they have done nothing to rectify the situation. They are a garbage company run by garbage people.

set up a claim on the website about a insinkerator the was makin lots of noise and shutting off got a response there was no technician available so I should get my own then get an estimate and get their approval the point of getting this companies is so we don't have to go through of getting estimates and getting approvals, so I waited three weeks later they send a technician and said we needed a new insinkerator he came back the next day with a contractor model to replace our $300.00 super quiet model so when i call choice home warranty the very rude person said they only replace items with the basic model, that's not what I was told when we started they said they will replace it with something similar. This companies are all the same I went through the same thing with American Home Shield I guess is better to save that money instead of giving it to them.

It took over a week to get a response from them after contacting them 3 times. Service technician showed up 4 days after I called them. Lost over 300.00 in food. I paid for a 5 yr contract with them but that may have been a mistake.

In the years that we have been customers of Choice Home Warranty, our experience with the representatives on the telephone has not been particularly pleasant. The Choice Home Warranty does not cover many of the items that seem to go wrong with our various appliances and home systems.

It takes 24 hours to get a response from a representative and another 24 to get in touch with the technician. They worked on my Air conditioner and it took them 16 day to get it fixed in Texas in a heat wave, Because they would not let the technician get the parts locally they shipped them to him. Now I am trying to get my septic system fixed it has been 5 days with no response from the company. I have to use my neighbors bathroom, but I am in the country so they are not close. And you tell us if we have the work done and then fight with you will not pay because it is fixed. They say on their website that they are 24/7, they are not they are not open on the weekends and if you call after hours they will tell you some one will contact you with in 24hr, I have been waiting for 5 days. They answer the phone 24/7 but do nothing until business hours M-F Eastern time. And If they do call you it is always late afternoon, and they tell you they will look into it and get back to you with in 24hours.

I think that I am being ripped off by Choice and the plumbing company. My water heater failed and I thought no problem as I have a home warranty plan. which turned out to be a joke. what I am being charged is not a fair price if I had not just got out of having surgery I would of replaced the hot water unit my self for less than I am being ripped of for. now that is not a good home warranty plan. I am very disappointed and I will not renew the plan when it is up. They said because that there was 8 months left on the tank warranty thru Home Depot that they had to use that. well let me tell you how there warranty works they credit you for the remaining time of warranty = 8 months but they charge a few of $200 to process this. GOT IT so why do I have to go thru them to get ripped off further??? just set it on the curb for trash. I think that as I have been a loyal customer for several years you need to rethink this service call. Roger Daniel senor citizen and a Veteran.

I signed up with Choice as we were purchasing a home. The sales guy Harry was great. Kept in contact, upgraded my service, sold me to sign up for 3 years. Harry reached out to his manager and changed my wait period to 15 days rather than 30. They are wonderful until they have your money. On 8/24, 19 days after I paid well over 2,000$ and 4 days after my wait period was over I discovered my oven that had worked just fine the previous day was no longer heating on the bottom. I submitted a claim with Choice home warranty. I was sure they would have me up and running in a few days. Not long after I clicked submit I received an email stating my claim was denied and that I could dispute if I felt this was wrong. I disputed the claim and was told there would be a decision within a few days and that I was assigned a case manager, Azfar A. Azfar was quick to contact me to tell me that my claim was truly denied because it was within 30 days of signing my contract. I let him know that I had made special arrangements with my sales person Harry and that I only had to wait 15. He insinuated that I was lying. Stated that they do not offer a shorter wait time, ever. After much go around, I finally convinced him to agree to have the call logs pulled and reviewed. 3 days later, on 8/27 my call was returned to inform me, that yes Harry made that promise and that they will fulfill it but, "Harry has been dealt with". My claim went into processing and they began looking for a service provider. It is now 9/4 and they tell me that they are still looking for a provider. I have the option to find my own, however no one in my area will work with them. 3 of the companies I contacted stated they will not do business with Choice specifically, but would consider if it was different company as they have been burned by them in the past. Over the past 10 days I have called and emailed Azfar multiple times with no response. When I call the 800 number and ask for this to be escalated they tell me there is no one higher than my case manager and put in a request for him to call me. He still has not. Severely disappointed not only in the failure to uphold repair but also in their level of customer service. I hope to have some sort of resolution so I can retract this review. Thank you. S. Rivera

I am only giving Choice Home Warranty ONE star because I cannot give them ZERO. They deny every single claim for one stupid reason or another. Over the course of two years (we had zero claims in the first year), but in year two, I needed their help three times. 1.) (December 2019) Ohio gets cold in the winter, and when the heating element in the furnace needed replaced, they scheduled a company three hours away from us for seven days in the future. When I had it fixed myself (it was winter) by a local company, the reimbursement was so small it was insulting. 2.) (April 2020) Our bar refrigerator was freezing everything and it needed service. Well, since it was not in the kitchen, that was denied. 3.)(July 2020) A plastic piece inside the pool filter broke. After asking me to find someone to fix it, the claim was....you guessed it DENIED because the casing is not covered even though the piece in question is not part of the casing. That was it, I've cancelled my contract with them and will never be back (they pro-rated it AND also took a $50 cancellation fee). Look, in my opinion just save your money, or just deduct it from your bank account and burn it it the fireplace. This company is a scam!

CHW is probably the worst company I have ever dealt with. I filed a claim July 14th 2020 for my a/c not cooling properly. I gt a message from them stating they cannot find a tech to come out to check it but if I could get one on my own I could. I declined that option and decided to see what they could come up with since this company was new to me. About 2 days later I get a message that a tech will come out on the 18th. I'm like great we'll great this fixed. The tech showed up didn't even hook the guages up and told me that it wasn't low on freon. I said well its not cooling properly maybe there is a leak up stairs in the attic. He walked up and right back down. Says nope no leak its probably just so hot its having a hard time keeping up. I knew this was wrong but I paid the man anyway. I called CHW and they told me to get a tech of my own so I did. My tech comes out hooks the guages up and said it is low 4.5 pounds of freon. My tech said this has a leak somewhere to be that low do you want me to look for it? Sure I said so he did. He went to the attic and checked the evaporator coil for leaks and found one with his infared sensor. I called CHW and told them what he has found. They sent me a message that a claim manager will be in touch with me. I never got to talk to a case manager until the 29th July 2020. I have had 3 different case managers since this whole thing started. The second case manager that was given to me I never could get a hold of. I called about everyday and got nothing but a machine. Then I call one day and a recording comes on and tells me that extension is not operable anymore. I call again to speak to someone about this. I was hung up on due to I kept asking who and when could I actually speak to someone. They said they are escalating this claim and I should receive a call tomorrow. I never got the call. 8/13/2020 I get a message that I have a new case manager. My 3rd at this point. He tells me that they more information to go by. My tech sent pictures and all the information needed. They denied it shortly after like within a couple days. They said they denied it because the evaporator coil is dirty and and had spider webs all over it. They automatically decline when it is dirty is what Daniel Siboni told me. My tech never sent him a picture of the evaporator coil so he couldn't even come to that conclusion on that basis. Daniel S was and is my case manager at this point and he has hung up on me a couple of times too. I have been hung up on 3 times since this has started. My tech told DS in his observation that the coil had a hole in it and he checked for a replacement and the the coil is obsolete so we would have to replace the air handler. DS told me they don't pay for air handlers that is why it was declined. I could go on and on and on but I think you get the picture on what I've been dealing with. I don't think DS honestly knows the difference between the condenser coil and the evaporator coil and that may have been the problem to begin with. Idk... This is a battle still in progress I just want what I've been paying for each month without them trying to use a loophole to try to et out of it. $1500 is the cap fee and would probably cover the cost for that replacement. I would never ever suggest this company to anyone. Not worth the headache at all.

Deb Taylor ,

I would not even give a One Star! They are awful! I am A Realtor, have purchased for many clients, myself, my mother. I bought 3 year warranty for my mom after my dad passed. Her air went out, never fixed it- made excuses , she paid someone else out of pocket. My dishwasher went out , to this day they still have not paid for my ice maker, dishwasher, refrigerator. They sent an idiot Handy Man Dad our here, he broke my fridge ! He broke the fan motor. I was without a fridge for 3 months! Check was in mail! Ya still waiting!! My light fixture went out , my switch went out - it’s not covered - still waiting on my bathroom fixture. Three years of non- sense! They refused to pay back my 3 year I paid for my mom and myself. I have clients as well that has Choice turning their claims down. Just pathetic! Deborah Short Taylor-Realtor

Jacquelyn Bell ,

I have had Choice for 3 years. When I purchased the Warranty, I asked if they needed to check out all the items that they cover....Of course they don't do that, since as I have learned, they disavow most claims. After a month of coverage, my A/C wasn't working. They claim that because the condenser went out, it would be considered a pre-existing matter. I used the company that they sent out to do the replacement (only to find that. they never sent me the warranty, and I can't get them to answer the phone); and, now find them to be a more than a substandard company. Choice was also sent out to repair my oven/microwave. They attempted to fix it 4 times, only to determine that it needed to be replaced. They sent me $500.00 towards the purchase (same unit..due to wall space & brand) of a new one, costing $1900.00. Again, they were very nice in quoting the page and paragraph, which disavowed them of the replacement. Yesterday they came out because the A/C wasn't working again...The drain was clogged and a float switch modification failed...They have determined in Section F #11, that they are not responsible for repairs related to any modification to the system or appliance.... I must say, that I don't understand; however, I understand the end result. I paid for the repair..again! I would be so far ahead of the game; if, I had taken the cost of the contract...put it in a NON-INTEREST account, and just pulled from that, ,for my repairs, and replacements. Please do not use Choice Warranty!

My side-by-side stainless steel KitchenAid refrigerator had a power surge during a storm and blew out the compressor. The technician identified the problem accurately but Choice said it was a single door refrigerator and only allowed a value of $499. It will cost more than $2000 to replace. Not exactly equitable.
