I had a bad water heater, and it took to long for them to send me someone. I had to seek a plumber to do it right away otherwise i was told i would have to wait for thusrs. I sorry but i could not wait. There's 3 adults and 2 children here so i had to do something quicker.

This is the most frustrating company I have ever dealt with. I had no refrigerator for 6 weeks because every service call was a waste of time. The refrigerator could not be fixed. When I asked Choice how many service calls and weeks we had to go through before we could declare it garbage I was told there’s no limit. It seemed absolutely ridiculous to waste the time and money on service calls. I threw away a lot of food that became garbage over this time as well. My air conditioner stopped working as well and three service appointments were canceled for that repair as well. This company is so aggravating to deal with the service companies don’t want to deal with them either. I have spent a lot of money on having a warranty on two homes and will NEVER do this again. When my contract expires I will be DONE with this useless company. Save your money and pay for your own repairs. Do NOT buy a warranty through this company.

We had a minor electrical problem (three way switch was not working) so the kitchen overhead light did not turn on. Choice was contacted and engaged an electrician, who we later learned was a handyman. He missed his first appointment. We rescheduled and he missed that one as well (car problems). I tried to cancel the policy with Choice but was talked into giving them a second/third chance. Choice hired another firm at no cost to us. The next firm showed up with no replacement parts. Had the evaluated the problem and get approval from Choice to effect the repair. Got approval and came back with a standard 3way light switch. They knew that our home had zwave switches but where not authorized to replace them with anything other than the standard switch. Three people worked on it for hours and could not figure out how to make it work. They said they would come back with different parts and try to make it work. Weeks went by no word. Frankly we were too busy with other projects and didn’t follow up. Finally contacted Choice and got the same response as before. They wanted to “make it right” and please let us try again. Like before I was told how difficult it is to find contracts because “they are so busy they don’t want to work for home warranty companies that don’t pay as well and make them make extra trips to the home to get the job approved”. Wow my point was made for my and again I insisted on canceling my 3 yr policy. They had the audacity to charge a fee of $150 for breaking the contract as well as a proration for the time we had coverage. The proration was acceptable but as I explained to them they were in breach and did not fulfill their commitment to made the repairs as promised. Well needless to say when it comes to home warranty companies they are NOT my Choice.

This is the worst home warranty I have ever had. My recent claim has been denied because of rust in a coil but the technician never said there was rust in the coil-because their isn’t. What he said was: ‘All The outdoor unit The unit has a major leak it could be an evaporator coil and condensing coil the compressor it could be anywhere without doing a leak Test there’s no way to determine what the end result is any major leak with required the system to be replaced and it’s not worth wasting the money to do a leak test on a unit that old’. This was taken right from his report. Choice denied the claim siting rust and there isn’t any...it was just a way to get out of honoring the terms of their own contract. I’m questioning the claim denial, got a second contractor opinion and had an attorney look at the contract. This is just not a solid business practice.

I had an emergency but nobody could help put a rush on it, AND THEN THE NEXT DAY, after sewage flooded my house, then I was told I could get my own plumber with a reimbursement options. WHY was I not given that option at hour one? Why did I have to wait over 12 hours for you to tell me that you could not find me a plumber? AND then you declined coverage. I have two clean-outs but the plumber chose to go down though the toilet. You gave authorization for him to do the work. You gave him a code when he submitted the diagnosis, and then you declined it. I'll be going back to American Home Sheild when this expires. Worst service ever.

CHW responses to claims quickly. But sometimes have problem with getting local service company scheduled quickly. Settling claims are not always fair or reasonable. Their settlement is usually take it as is no explanation or room for negotiation for a fair an equitable setllement.

The brutal truth is; home warranties are too good to be true! Don't waste your money. I bought the home warranty as it sounded like a good idea and even helpful. My washing machine broke 5/15/21, Choice Warranty sent technician to home to fix it 5/19/21. He was a very nice man and was very informative. Unfortunately my washer was beyond repair. I thought Choice Warranty would be replacing my washer, but rather they are providing me with a cash "Payout" for the wholesale price of a replacement washing machine. It is in my contract that Choice Warranty will repair or replace or provide cash payout and I can purchase my own machine. The pay out options sounds wonderful, however it is based on wholesale prices not on the cost to replace my current machine. So to put this in simple terms; I have a Kenmore super larger capacity plus top load washer, choice warranty is "Paying me out" $343 for a replacement washing machine, which is their wholesale price. And the kicker, they are going to put it on a lowes gift card??? A replacement washing machine from lowes is about $700-&1000. Lydia from Choice Warranty has been assigned to my case and she has not been the most helpful. I don't feel like a customer you really care about.

I had a slight snag. The initial call went well. I was given an appointment time and date. The day I was scheduled no one showed up and I wasn't notified. When I called back your representative they couldn't help because they only do no new claims. I was rather disappointed. That was an extra day without air conditioning.

My $5k double wall oven burned out...they proposed a $700 compensation, as per their rules, they decide the price they deem fit. I requested, if you can get it for that price from somewhere, please replace the product. FInally I cancelled. They called me back every single day, they said you can take a rider on the contract since you have high end appliances and this will replace it with equivalent value products. Noe this time I paid their premium $3475...my cheap Samsung fridge $2300 burnt out, I have a SubZero too...they paid $726 as comp. Same explanation as 3 years ago. Everything they promised was a lie...I'm waiting for my check, and then I'll cancel their plan based on the email exchange we had where they promised premium appliance support. Overall a scam. Beware of it. Keep everything in writing. Make sure you pay by Credit card, so your money is protected.

This company could care less about the customer. They sell you by promoting the lie you will never have to pay for costly repairs or replacements of your appliances and AC and heating. I have summited 3 claims so far ( I got suckered into 5 years) first my wall oven went out right after the holidays. It took them over two weeks to get a technician to come out. The guy they sent for my In the meantime, my dryer goes out. So I claim on it. was a joke! He tore apart my oven and said he was waiting on the part. Three weeks later we’re still waiting. In the meantime, my dryer goes out. So I claim on it. I let them know I haven’t heard back from the guy about the oven. Please don’t send the same guy. THEY SEND THE SAME GUY! I refused to have him come. They finally sent another guy out. Come to find out the oven was unfix able, they did pay out but it was not near enough to replace. Then a couple a weeks ago my water heater was leaking, they denied the claim, the tank is not covered. It’s like a main part of the water heater! Save yourself the frustration and pass these guys by!

Terrible is an under statement of the customer service that I have received. Not only is their a lack of empathy, but incompetence as well, where reps hang up on you, appliances are not fixed in a timely period, reps does not seem knowledgeable of what they are doing, to include supervisors, and they really aren't concerned because it's not affecting them, esp locations that are not in the US. BBB will definitely be my next point of contact due to contacting them over 3 times today just to be more frustrated and hung up on because they don't want to solve issues, and still no resolution. VERY UNSATISFACTORY!!!

Our thermostat controller went off, so we submitted a claim. Technicians came and could not get it to work. They suggested replacement. Few minutes after they left, we received an email from Choice warranty with this section "Please refer to your terms and conditions section F number 3; we are not responsible for electronic or computerized energy management or lighting and appliance management systems, solar systems and equipment." This definition seems unspecific and can be interpreted in many ways. The controller, for us, did not seem to fall within this definition. Therefore, we submitted a request for a claim review. We get a schedule for Friday at 10:00am Central time. The reviewer "not sure about her name" called at 10:15am. She was aggressive and disrespectful. She shut me up many times and did not allow me to get the information and answers that I need. She put me on extended hold two times. After each time, she returned with escalated aggressive attitude. I asked her to give me her supervisor contact info. She claimed no one is higher than her, she is the supervisor. I asked for a different case reviewer, she claimed she is the only one. While I was still trying to get answers, she claimed that my 15 minutes are over and that she needs to end the call. I was not allowed to talk, she decided that the call needs to be ended because she has an appointment with another customer. I said, you called 15 minutes later, the other customer can also wait. My refrigerator needed repair and it took 6 days to get out here . CHW refused to repair it because it was too old. I stead they offered me a Lowes credit card for $560 to be shipped with in 30 days. A comparable refrigerator to the one I had cost about $1500. I tried talking to someone but the only openings were over a week away to even speak to anyone. All my food spoiled and I couldn’t wait to speak to someone over a week away with no refrigerator. So I agreed to the $566 and then am told they would send the money on a gift card which I would get in 30 days. I had to buy a new refrigerator because I could not wait . I bought one exactly like the one I had and it was on sale for $1439. With tax and warranty it was $1700. I will not renew with Home Warranty.

My washer can't be repaired, So instead of replacement as advertised, they only offered me 1/3 cash value as a gift card to Lowes Home Improvement. Very disappointing and an insult to me. I have the option to have a review by a case manager, but the waiting time for an appointment is 1 month. What kind of company has a wait time for customer service that is this long. Must have alot of customers disputing their offers. I have my policy paid up for 3 more years, but will probably ask for a refund.

I wish I could give this company zero stars. They do not uphold their contract. We had four failed repairs with them, one of which damaged our AC unit. Choice refuses to provide reimbursement for their botched job, which after 8 weeks of waiting for them to fix the issue, when it is 89 DEGREES F outside, we decided to fix ourselves. The contract, which they have not read apparently, states that if a service technician damages/fails to repair a unit properly that clients can seek remedy for this, like we did. Because we hired someone without prior approval, they say they can't reimburse us. So, their policy is for clients to wait months for a repair, wait for them to damage a appliance, wait for them to authorize to repair their own damage because if you repair/replace on your own even when it is URGENT they're not responsible anymore....how are they even legal? Sounds like fraud, smells like fraud? STAY AWAY FROM CHOICE HOME WARRANTY.

Unfortunately Choice has disappointed me. My contract includes my pool and spa. It clearly states it covers heat. Further it says it does not cover heat pumps. All electric pool heaters are heat pumps. It is a tricky way of saying “yes” we cover heat but not the heater. They declined replacing my heater and the person who handled my appeal was rude. .

Woke up with a a leaking water heater. Garage was like a small river. Filed a claim with CHW within a couple of hours I had 2 plumbers contact me. I called one number, they agreed to diagnose the water heater Sunday afternoon. The heater hose was repaired immediately. The other plumber just called and had to tell him the heater was repaired.

I've been using CHW for over 3 years at 2 different addresses. They are not who they say they are. They send technicians who do not have a clue how to fix problems. 2 years ago I had an electrical issue and they sent an unlicensed technician to my house to fix my issue. The guy even told me he was a handyman! I had an A/C issue at my other home at my rental property. The technician ended up messing up the wiring to my system and then told me I needed to buy a whole new A/C unit! I had to get a second opinion who verified what he messed up and fixed my problem for less than $700 which once again CHW refused to pay since they would 1st of all not replace my unit even though it was getting its early 2 PMs a year. They said my contract states that they didn't have to replace it! Now more recent one of my A/C units airhandler froze over due to a problem due to my zoned damper and zone controls which required replacement. They told me under the terms and condition section D #5, CHW is not responsible for issues excluded under heating!

DO NOT USE CHOICE HOME WARRANTY!!!! They do a great job selling their warranty service and do an awful job addressing claims. Since signing up with them in 2017, I have used them for two major repairs. The first with my washing machine took more than 4 weeks to get the issue resolved. The second just happened with my water heater and took three months to resolve, not because they fixed the problem but because they sent me a check when the technician they sent told me Choice Home Warranty (CHW) had failed to cover the original problem the technician claimed to have fixed but did not work. CHW kept scheduling the same technician and rescheduling as the technician did not show up. After following up twice with the technician and being told the same thing that CHW had declined to solve the problem, I insisted that CHW assigns the job to another plumber. After another week or two of waiting without CHW assigning the job to another company, I insisted that I be allowed to hire my own plumber, which CHW eventually agreed to. By this time, my claim had been pending for 2 months already with no hot water in my 6-person family home. Eventually, I got a check settlement, which cannot replace the water heater, if the initial diagnosis does not fix the problem. Meanwhile, they failed to mail the check as promised. After three weeks of waiting and not getting it, I called back and made a note on my account, which forced them to send the check. I made sure to make accurate notes on the claim and took screen shots of exchanges with Choice Home Warranty in case you need supporting proof of this complaint. CHW should also have the threads of what I copied on their website under my claim.

the man you sent from landrum enviormental was a true pro. How ever i paid for your top plan that said it would cover air condition. the air cond coil was leaking refrigerant and had some rust .Your solution was put a sealant in the line which will not last. its like putting a band aid on a gunshot wound. you puled a sneaky trick, said because of rust we will not replace the coil. THE AIR COND. COIL IS THE HEART OF THE UNIT. .So you took my money but would not fix the problem. Don't expect me to give you a thumbs up. Any one who ask me a bout your service I will tell them that you will find away to weasel out of the contract. and I will post on line how you cheat people. Iam also going to send a letter to our attorney general to see if they can do something about the way you refuse claims

It will be two weeks at least until I have a working microwave. It seems he knew the problem before he got here. Why are the parts more readily available? In today's world 2 weeks to get 2 parts seems unreasonable. So why have the warranty if service takes this long. Took 5 days for an appointment now 2 weeks for parts. No microwave for 3+ weeks?

It appears there is always some caveat. When you read your manual it appears to be covered, but when it gets down to it, it’s not. Also I believe the contractors that you hire are not necessarily the professionals. The only person I was impressed with was the re-key guy. I took out a special policy for the pool and spa, which included switches, which is a breaker box / switch in electrical terms. But it was not covered, and I was ripped off $65. Which I went and purchased a box and installed it myself for 70. I would welcome a phone call from you guys as I think constructive feedback is important for your future business. Today I had Oasis LLC, out here to fix a leak under the sink, which they did. But my faucet apparently has a leak in the cartridge. They said it would be covered under the warranty but it would require another appointment. Which to me means another $65. Not sure Choice Warranty is worth the price.

This company advertises to "Repair or Replace" any covered item. This is simply NOT TRUE! The ad should say repair or help lessen the cost to replace. For our built-in dishwasher they are offering a Lowe's ecard for $246. Please tell me how I am supposed to replace the dishwasher and have it installed for $246. As a disabled person I am unable to do the installation myself. I have checked Lowe's website, and built-in dishwashers start at $336 and in store they start at $369. So they are not replacing it as they advertise. I real bait and switch scam! Of course if you ask them they say you need to read the small print in article 8 of the policy. A total joke

Too soon to tell The plumbing co was excellent. Great service and prompt repaired quickly. The choice says well maybe we don’t pay for this. It was interior. If it was exterior the Assoc would pay for it. I’ve been very happy with choice so far and even recommended people. So we shall see where this goes

We purchased this warranty right before we bought our home. When we purchased it, we were told that all of the systems would be covered under the total plan so we paid extra for it. Two weeks ago our A/C went out. The tech checked it and replaced a fuse. It went out again 4 days later and he came back (for another claim and service fee) and said it had no refrigerant. He submitted the claim and it was denied saying the unit was not broken due to “normal wear and tear”. When i called the appeals department, while the employee was very nice, she just kept repeating the same thing and said it was a final denial. Now I am out the money for a warranty that did not protect me when I needed it AND out the money for an A/C repair that should have been covered. Only giving one star because zero stars is not an option.

The first offer for replacement of warrantied appliance was WAY TOO LOW - appealed and agent was merely reading from a denial script and did nothing to change offer. Totally dissatisfied with offer as it was 1/3 of our cost to replace the appliance!!!! Needed money right away - agent said she would email me and never did. Rip off!!! Both of policy purchaser and me as client!

I would actually give Choice ZERO starts but that is not an option. I moved into my house in July 2020, they were happy to sell me a policy knowing that my HVAC system was 15 years old (and I live near the sea). They sold me a 3 year extended policy for $1600. I am now over a barrel. Their vendor came to service my unit for the summer and said it needed $5000 worth of repairs, they also gave me an estimate of $5200 to replace it. Choice has approved the repairs with the exemption that their were no pre existing conditions. Choice has never been to my home so how do they know what condition it was in? Please don't buy a home warranty, it just creates lots of stress, fear, and anxiety.

We have never really had a problem with Choice. When something breaks in my home we call and they send a technician. Sometimes it does take a couple of days for a tech to agree but other than that I would recommend.

Annual Premiums and Service Call Fee are cheap, compared to the competitors. Best value for the money. Sometimes we get a bad technician or a bad company. Need to check for those, before doing the actual job. Waiting time is long on a few occasions.

I moved into a new house and the previous homeowner had Choice Home Warrantee. The warrantee turned over into my name and I purchased an additional year since it was expiring soon after I moved in. This year we had many problems. Dishwasher broke, boiler was not working properly, a few plumbing problems, and a leaky roof. I made about 7 claims in total and Choice Home Warrantee covered essentially nothing. They gave me a small payout for the dishwasher but claimed all the rest of the issues were not covered. They would not even cover a leaky pipe even though their policy claims they do. They said they don't cover "corrosion". What else would a pipe be leaking if not for corrosion? Anyway, after having Choice Home Warrantee and a house that needed a great deal of work, I've come to the conclusion that you will never ever get back the cost of the warrantee in services from the company. I understand that this is how they make money, but the expectation is that if something goes wrong, your have insurance to cover you. With Choice Home Warrantee, this is not the case. You are much better off putting $600 into an account each year and using that money to pay for your own repairs.

Since we live in a rural area, the technicians you have submitted to me are from approximately 60 miles away. First, I pay for the service call. Then, if you approve what the technician tells you, I get to go out and buy a new water heater. Then, I have to pay for the installation. In the mean time, we have to check into a local hotel to take a shower, etc. I'm not a happy customer of your.

When calling for questions re claim, I was disconnected by two different agents. With the second agent I requested a call back if we were disconnected. She assured me that we would not be disconnected. However, we were disconnected and she did not call back. The third agent put a call into a supervisor to call me re my concerns that my ceiling fan replacement was a $29 fan with no light attachment, a builders’ grade fan. When I talked with sales, they said that equipment would be replaced with comparable equipment. I live in a luxury hi rise condo building, that has high end equipment, including ceiling fans. Why does the small print in exclusions for ceiling fans override this? This is my first claim after having coverage for two years...very disappointing. Why should I pay $60 service fee plus $48/ month for such poor coverage? BTW, the supervisor has not called me yet.

My experience with Choice Home Warranty has been HORRIBLE to say the least. First claim denied. I guess I should have told my shower to not break until I had more time into the warranty coverage. Called to question why considering the amount of money I'm paying for coverage and the retention specialist convinced me to give them another chance and since money was my issue, cancelled the additional two years and would refund me the second payment I had already paid and cancelled the third/final payment. He also said the next two service calls would be on him since I had already paid $500 out of pocket for the repairs. Second claim. Technician asked for $65 fee. I told him it should be noted that Choice is covering it but of course it wasn't noted so I had to pay as it wasn't their fault Choice didn't cover the fee as promised. Called Choice back to see why and there was NO note of the next two service calls being on Choice and was educated that I, the customer, need to call when the tech arrived and requested Choice cover the fee. This retention specialist fast talked all over me when I was trying to explain my situation and let me know that he would note the next free service call when it should have been two. Not to mention that the second claim denied as well. Another $65 fee down the drain in addition to a bill of $6,500 out of pocket to have my unit replaced. In my personal opinion, Choice is a waste of money. If you don't have a new house you're lucky if they cover any claim with the excuse that it's normal wear and tear that occurred before the policy period. It's pointless.

WHEN I WAS A NEWER MEMBER I CAN SAY THAT CHOICE TOOK CARE OF EVERYTHING AND IT WAS REASONABLY PRICED FOR THE SERVICE THEY PROVIDED BUT ALTHOUGH I HAVE STAYED WITH THEM SOMETHING HAS CHANGED WITHIN THEIR BUSINESS PRACTICE AND THE COMPANY HAS STARTED LACKING IN BOTH PERFORMANCE AND QUALITY TO THE CUSTOMER.

The service to file a claim was good and the technician hired was very good when he got here but it was scheduled a week out from wen the claim was filed. This was not very pleasant and couldn’t be changed. I did try both the call center and the hired vendor was booked up.

The call was answered very quickly and I was satisfied with that response time but when the schedule was made for a technician to come out, it was more than a week out. I had to call the company themselves and arranged an earlier time.

A good way to hope to cover items in my home. But, in reality, a company that finds a loop hole to get out of paying out any money to help me, the policy holder. Your technician thought the wiring between the thermostat and the HVAC system needed replacing. He thought we would have to knock out walls to find the wiring defect. WRONG! Choice refused to pay anything toward that repair/replacement. So, screw the policy holder. No further action needed. Full Stop. What Choice should have done was to send out another tech who would have found the problem is probably the defrost piece in the outdoor unit. It is covered by the AC Warranty for parts. That would have made this policy holder much happier. How can I cancel this policy and get a refund for the time not used?

It's OK. I would not ever purchase again. They fix the small things but will try everything to get out of fixing something. Out of the 5 or 6 claims I've had they have only paid for 1. They say they replace the component with a like model but tried to only give $250 for a washing machine. I told them to please send me the link to that washer so I can purchase because there is not one on the market for less than $750 with the features ours had, the increased to $500 and said that was the max. Giving 2 stars because their portal is nice and easy to set up claims through.

My experience with this claim was terrible. I was denied the ability to find my own provider when CHW's selected provider could not come out for 5 days. I was then assigned another provider who did not respond to CHW in the 6 hours allotted. A day after I asked for permission to find my own provider. I was told I could find my own provider. I was unnecessarily without a washer for 2 days. The provider I called came to the house within the hour and fixed the washer immediately. For some reason CHW was unable to find a provider and I found one by a simple google search for providers in my area. I spent about 5 minutes, it took CHW 3 days only to allow me to find my own provider.
