I called Choice on Saturday, but the repair was not scheduled until Wednesday - 5 days later. This was for a leaky water heater. So, for 5 days we had collect the water that would otherwise go on the floor. When the repair people came, Choice would not cover anything since the diagnosis was leaking expansion tank. I called Choice to cancel my contract as I was completely dissatisfied with them and asked for a prorated return of about 5 months on the annual contract. They told me I couldn't cancel or they would cancel but not return any money to me. I feel swindled by this company and advise others to stay clear of them. Amazing poor service company.

Our repair man was never contacted by CHW!! The only reason he showed up is because WE called HIM. Then, CHW refused to pay for a $40 part from inside a MOEN bathtub faucet, saying I had to get reimbursed by Moen through their lifetime warranty ....but that warranty requires an ORIGINAL receipt as proof of purchase. Since the house is 30 years old and I only have owned it for 2 years, it is impossible to the original receipt....even if I had bought the house new, you do not receive repots for every part in a new house. CHW is NOT HONORING their warranty service. When I called CHW customer support they left me on hold for 5 minutes then hung up on me. CHW is a rip-off.

Horrible customer service, non-english speaking reps overseas who aren't helpful. Waited over a week with no communication about email claim that was submitted. When a response did come, it was for me to find an electrician, pay the electrician, have the electrician take pictures to send to Choice, so I could be "reimbursed". Who knows when I would have gotten "reimbursed" by doing that. When husband finally got through to english speaking stateside rep, he was told our work order would be expedited, response in no more that 48 hours. When that came and went he called again, was told there were no notes in our account, and that this rep would expedite our work order.Salesman who took my initial call was EXTREMELY pushy. I was referred to Choice by a friend who purchased her warranty with choice, she warned me about the same thing, VERY PUSHY sales person. She has yet to file a claim but is worried based on our horrible experience. Will not recommend to friends or family at this point

At this point I would not recommend Choice Warranty. I put my claim in weeks ago finally got a tech out here only to be told they would not cover the claim. Why would I have an "insurance" that won't cover a claim they clearly stated they covered. I've had state farm for years they have paid any clim evet submitted including one for like 24 thousand dollars on my Toyota Tundra when we hit a deer. Thats what insurance is for. Patricia Rawdon

Dryer went out, offered 300 something dollars. Told that Choice Warranty only pays what they would pay at a bulk price. Yet, they are a “Home Warranty” company. Home owners/renters dont buy in bulk. I asked to go ahead and buy one of their bulk dryers. They replied “oh you will have to go buy one yourself , we dont provide them.” They ended up raising the pay out, but I have to wait 20-30 days for a Lowes gift card. I am now over 30 days from filing and still have not been able to do laundry at my house, because I have no gift card to buy a dryer. The sense of urgency is non existent, especially for a home the Choice Home Warranty, provides service for.

BE AWARE OF the Alert on the BBB website I posted here. "CURRENT ALERTS FOR THIS BUSINESS Government Action: BBB reports on known government actions involving business’ marketplace conduct:: Arizona Attorney General Files Consumer Fraud Lawsuit The following describes a pending government action that has been formally brought by a government agency but has not yet been resolved. We are providing a summary of the governments allegations, which have not yet been proven. On October 2, 2019, Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced his office filed a Consumer Fraud lawsuit against Choice Home Warranty for allegedly making false promises to consumers who purchased a home warranty policy. The lawsuit alleges Choice Home Warranty collected millions from Arizona consumers, but used contract exclusions, payment caps, and bad-faith refusals to avoid paying for repairs. " I had the same issue with them after switching all my 6 rental homes from AHS to CHW. 2 weeks to assign a contractor, which was like a handy service. Then rejected my claim bathroom leaking because it was filed too early and assumed that it was preexisting condition. I had AHS and my tenant was living there. It didn't make sense. It's time to cancel. Please read the BBB rating below and don't make the same mistake I did.

I currently am a CHW customer. I've had several issues with from their customer service and how the coverage works. I set up a claim to have my A/C looked at, since it wasn't working at all as of 07/132023. I did note at their site that the system stated it was a communication issue with the outside unit. The A/C company came out on 07/18/2023 and I told them Its most likely the wire that connects the outside A/C to the house, since that has been a issue twice before. They checked the outside unit and saw it wasn't receiving enough power to run. Then checked the breaker box and it was sending the correct power, so that meant it was the wire I mentioned, but their company does do that part of an A/C system. So they said I need an electrician to fix that wire and then they can come back and do what ever needs fixing on the outside unit. I have had two other warranties from two different companies and both of them had the same crew fix both parts of the same issue, not separate companies have to come out. So, I contacted CHW to have an electrician come out and they said they had to start another claim for the same issue and that second claim made have to pay a second deductible for the same issue. The electrician was scheduled for 07/24/2023 and called CHW to see if they could get an earlier appointment, since it will be at 11 days in the heart of summer without A/C. They said, they contacted (self employed contractor) and there was nothing they could do. I thought the second deductible and waiting that long was ridiculous. Customer service and there supervisors did nothing at all. I received an email with the electricians phone number and called him to ask if there was a waiting list or any way to come earlier since I've been without A/C so long and the first A/C company still has to come out after him. He was great, unlike the CHW and first company that did nothing. He came out on 07/22/2023 and verified it was the connecting wire of 5 or 6 feet long. He sent the claim in for approval that he said only takes about 15 minutes. CHW didn't approve it until 3 hours later, so he did wait about a half hour, but had to leave naturally. I received an email telling me my next appointment with the electrician isn't until 08/07/2023. I had to push back the first A/C company back once to come out on 07/26/2023, but they won't touch anything until the electrician replaces the A/C connecting wire (that came with the original A/C install, not part of the house). I called the electrician to see if that was an error for that appointment date but, he never called me back. So, I called CHW on 07/24/2023 when I received the new appointment for the electrician to try and get it move up or get another contractor out to do the job, since it would be a month before the A/C company would do their part after the 08/07/2023 electrician appointment and that is ridiculous and absurd to go that long without A/C in the heart of summer and we are getting into the 95 to 100 degrees this weekend. When I called they said they talked to the electrician and he would call me by the end of the day of 07/24/2023, he did not. I called CHW again on 07/25/2023 explain that and they put me on hold again to contact the electrician. Then told me he would call me with in the next 15 minutes to get me off the phone. After an hour and half I called CHW back again and explained to another person what has been going on and to get a supervisor on the line. They had me wait on hold while they trying to get a supervisor for a few minutes and the disconnected me while trying to transfer me. So I called again and repeated everything again and got disconnected for a second time while waiting to be transferred. I called the electrician again on 07/25/2023 and he answered. He said CHW never contacted him about getting the appointment moved up two weeks early at all. That means CHW has been lying about communications with contractors and scamming two deductibles from me for the same issue. Their customer service is a joke, there appointments take to long to get and they like to scam extra fees out of you. Stay away from this company.

CHW is responsive when it comes to setting up appointments w/applicable contractors. My dislike is with the replacement program. I did not have a good experience with the last call on my dishwasher. They offered to replace it but only offered $246 and was told that this rate is based on a replacement plan that is no longer in effect. They need to update the replacement program and offer a realistic amount based on the actual market cost of the appliances. They need to consider the shipping and installation costs, as well. Once I receive the $246 from CHW, I'll be out $400, and this is with the purchase of the cheapest base model I could find.

I feel when it comes to certain things like air conditioning. It should be an urgency. I live down south in Louisiana. The company you chose didn’t even leave a receipt for the $85. I asked them to do the maintenance since you denied my claim for that reason. The tech says they will contact you guys because the unit still isn’t working properly and that I wouldn’t have to make a new claim. He said it would take 24hrs and to call his office to pay for the maintenance. I called and no answer. They didn’t even call back. I waited the 24hrs and contacted you guys just to be told i have to make an appeal and to wait another 24hrs for an answer. The runaround is ridiculous. The 24hrs for a response is ridiculous. My light bill will probably be astronomical because I had to borrow window units and put in to help keep my family and dogs cool.

I had a terrible experience with CHW. Over the summer 4 different HVAC techs visited my home. CHW Tech said I needed a new HVAC System. Mind you these visits started in the Spring however my System was still not working in the hottest part of the Summer. I could no longer stand the heat and begged the CHW to either fix or put in a new System. Their HVAC COMPANY said they will relay all pictures and work orders to be reimbursed for the new HVAC System. I agreed because it was a CHW Affiliate. CHW denied claim. I am disgusted. Getting ready to go to court.

The plumber you sent was wonderful, however Choice Home Warranty overall as a company stinks. We have 3 claims, our refrigerator quit working a month ago, our dryer is not drying properly and our shower leaks. We have been waiting for service on all 3 of these claims for over a month. They finally got a plumber to come out and fix the shower head (30 days after the claim), which was the least of our worries. We have called and emailed endless times to get someone here to fix our refrigerator, they sent someone out who knew less than I did, stuck his hand in the frig and told us it's the compressor and we need a new frig, did the same with the dryer and did not even look at our shower, although he wrote a claim up that we needed a new shower head. Fixed NOTHING and charged us $130. Choice said they are sending someone else out to fix our appliances, but we have been waiting and waiting and waiting. This is absolutely ridiculous. DO NOT pay for CHOICE Home Warranty, no one wants to do business with them so that is why they can't find an appliance repairman within 100 miles of our house to come repair our appliances. In the meantime, we have thrown away several hundred dollars of food and are living out of a dorm size refrigerator and eating out a lot. When you call and complain, they say they are escalating this and will have someone out in 24-48 hours, no one shows up or calls or emails. I am telling you now, do not have anything to do with this joke of a company. And not only that, but they also have the audacity to keep hounding us to renew our policy that is expiring. Ha!! What a joke.

I got this warranty on Oct 8th and I had My furnace look at I seen some water Under my hot water tank so I made The appointment and the tech said We need to replace it . So the warranty company decided to denied my claim so they said that it's pre existing condition that happened to your hot water heater but I told them when I got the warranty that hot water heater was in good working condition so just the condition of a hot water heater is 15 years my lasted 20 years. So just because of the age of my hot water heater the warranty company said the leak was caused by a pre condition factor and hide behind that and decided to deny my claim to replace my hot water heater so I canceled my warranty. This company is gutless .and hide behind pre condition things not fix or replace things. In your so now I learn not to trust any warranty company and got all my money back

I became a customer 3 or 4 years ago.. I paid for a several year package at Choice Warranty… I am covered for one more year (Oct 23) before my contact expires. When I purchased I thought it would be a good thing to have..my appliances were all new except for washer.. it was only around 5 or 6 yrs.. It worked great.. no issues with any thing. When I purchased the warrant I specifically ask if Choice paid for the amount it took to replace the product that it stopped working.. If it could not be repaired. They assured me they did. Give you the amount to replace the item being replaced. I purchased the mid level package ..it covers more including heat and AC units.. which was important to me. I can’t remember the amount I paid in advance for my package. I know it was over $1,000. For some reason I believe it was 1200. But the price I paid is not important. I’m sharing my experience. I had not planned to write a review.. but Choice Warranty continued sending request for a review. So here are my thoughts about Choice Warranty ..I’m not Happy. and I would not recommend this company. I had not had to use the company until recently.. my washer would not spin the water out . Service man can out and said it would be cheaper to get a new one. I got an email offering a low amount.. around $360. have not reviewed check yet? I had gotten sick so I didn’t respond until I was feeling better. Eventually I spoke to a representative about the amount they offered and I told her it only covered half of what it would cost to buy the cheapest Whirlpool. She told me all the things that I’m sure her company tells her to say.. and said that’s the most they would pay. Then proceeded to tell me instead of sending me a gift card for Lowes she would send me a check.. allow 30 days before I will receive it. I’m a senior female, I live alone, and have health issues that make life a little more challenging. I try to do what I say I’m going to do.. when I purchase this warranty they said they would pay to have something replaced if need!! When I purchased my multi year warranty.. I had to pay the entire bill the night I signed up.. On a credit card.. NOT 30 DAYS FROM THEN. When the repair man cam out.. I had to pay his service fee that day.. not 30 days later. When I signed up for Choice.. the sales person called me several times.. he even got his Manager on the phone.. they really worked hard to earn my trust and to convince me to sign on with them. It’s a shame the don’t continue to serve the customer with the same passion.. to insure they remain a HAPPY customer. Lana MS

Worst experience ever with Choice Home Warranty company! Not the Plumber who responded when one was finally located after several calls to Home Warranty with my plumbing problem. Commode problem ended with my purchasing a new one that the plumber installed for an hourly fee. Plumbing problem fixed! Yea! Repair and associated costs were rejected by Home Warranty!? Called and submitted claim for review and my calls and e-mails were never returned from Ms. Green. Sub mitted a second claim when kitchen Fawcett developed a water leak while out of state. water leak flooded part of kitchen, Fawcett was under warranty to manufacturer and I only needed Home Warranty to locate a plumber to install Fawcett assy.. several weeks and no plumber assigned or available for or willing to work with Home Warranty. When I purchased a Home Warranty contract I was assured that repairman were available in my area of North Carolina. ( Gross false guarantee on your part. I wonder why no repairman will work Home Warranty in our area!) Home Warranty has enough of my money and I want to divest myself and cancel my policy, I will require a letter for my bank to indicate I have cancelled my policy with Home Warranty. Your prompt attention will be appreciated! Jack Martin

SCAM! This company will do anything to keep from paying a claim out! Even if it is something covered under you warranty (like leaky pipes or furnace that isn't working, or a dryer that isn't heating). They will just continually reassign your claim to their subcontractor pool (which is horrible because most of the time they contractor/repairman never shows up to fix anything! and if they do, they take your $100 trade call fee deposit and never return to fix the problem they were supposed to fix! You just lose money!) You'll never get to speak to a manager or supervisor when you call because they aren't any! They promise you reimbursement if you pay out of pocket, yet you never get a check from them. They are a scam!

The communication might be the worst if any professional company. The marketing and sales team will sell you on a plan and up sell you to a TOTAL package which doesn’t include much more. They are not in the business to help or serve customers. 2/3 claims have been denied stating they don’t cover that part. No one at the company can tell you have to submit a request in writing to management, in fact I was directed to the email the email on the last page of my unsigned contract. Surprise the email bounces back and says it is an unmonitored account. The appeals case managers are a joke. Two weeks and still not scheduled for the hot water heater to be replaced! First and worst experience with a home warranty. My water heater went out in one of my properties. My tenant moved out 9/30 but reported seeing water before they left. I advised them to continue moving and I will fix the issue after they leave, to avoid anyone being in the way as they moved. As soon as they left, I called Choice Home Warranty and made a claim, but it was immediately denied in less than 24 hours. Since the house was vacant when the plumber that they contracted arrived, my water heater was not covered by Choice Home Warranty due to the property being unoccupied. I tried to dispute this decision but couldn't get anyone to call me back. I was consistently told that my situation was escalated and that someone would call me back same day and then 24 hours. The “no callbacks” were a major inconvenience as I am having a new tenant move in 10/15. This happened twice before I decided to cancel my policy as it didn't make sense to pay for a policy with no coverage being rendered. My husband believes that home warranties are frauds, and I was hoping to convince him since I believed all our properties could benefit from a warranty. However, this was a complete let down and I will never do business with Choice again!

The experience has not been good… I had to call choice daily(3tines per day) to get any progress with claim. It took a week to resolve at which point Choice did not cover the entire claim due to parts that were necessary for repairing HVAC unit were required, due to current regulations but were not failing. Comparable Parts that are required by law aren’t covered. Also, 1st tech choice sent out never showed up, VM was full and he did not return texts. Choice customer service and warranty isn’t as advertised and what it used to be.

My washing machine broke, but the parts to fix it cost more than they wanted to pay. They offered to just buy me another new one. Great, I thought. My washer cost me over $800, and they offered me a Lowes gift card to get a new one. They told me that the value of the gift card would be $343. I called and complained because you can't even buy a similar washer for twice that amount. One of the managers finally called me and after complaining to her, she told me that all they will do is $497. She would not budge off of that number. So if I am going to get the same or a similar washer, I will have to fork out $200 - $300 for a washer with the same features. Needless to say I am not happy.

Where to start... Let's go with the AC units. I have two units for my house and the first one broke down in the summer of 2017 (Phoenix, AZ). Choice did not cover the unit despite AC being in the contract. Come July 2019, my second unit broke down. This time their claim was that there was dirt around the unit. Last time I checked most AC units are located outside of the home where they are exposed to the elements. At this point I knew they were making something up so they wouldn't cover the unit. After about a week of back and forth mickey mouse games they finally denied my claim and gave me a $300 check as a courtesy. When all is said and done the unit cost $6,000 to replace. That covered 5% of that. Is that courteous? I would say more like unscrupulous. Fast Forward to earlier this year where I had a clog in the main plumbing drain. They sent some buffoon who took my service fee and told Choice that I did not have ground level cleanouts. (Choice will only cover main plumbing issues when ground level cleanouts are accessible). As a result Choice denied my claim because of this incorrect analysis. I hired a competent plumber who was able to find the ground level cleanouts and perform the work. It cost me just under $400. I came back with this to Choice and asked that they reimburse me for the work. The first representative heard my story and agreed that Choice should reimburse me for the misdiagnosis. A few days went by and another representative was put on the case to replace the first representative. This time they sang a different tune and declined my claim without giving me reason. If I could give this company no stars I would. Before you sign up for this home warranty, you need to ask yourself if you like getting ripped off. If the answer is no, then avoid these shysters like the Covid.

Had to pay for 2 service calls on the same appliance because the tech that they sent out didn’t communicate with CHW and I was not aware that if after 30 days the claim is not completed, it will close. The tech was out multiple times. So why am I being penalized when their tech & their communication is severely lacking? I will not recommend CHW to anyone. My realtor and also, good friend had potential customers as she was getting ready to close and was looking for a home warranty. She said she will make sure not to suggest CHW especially if they cannot come through and reimburse the 2nd service call. Very disappointed and frustrated.

The spring for my garage door broke on Saturday and the technician came and repaired it early on Monday. Great company, I also have AHS, and will soon cancel.

Choice Warranty claims department was very helpful in breaking down the coverage process and next steps on my claim. The representative was very nice on the phone and humble.

Hello Choice Home, I really appreciate the care and concern for welcoming new Customers. However, representative do not have the right to call my phone number and use tactics such as addressing the potential customer by his or her first name! It’s rude and very unwelcoming, especially when you’re selling a service!

My experience has been very poor. I had to use twice. In both situations, my issues were not solved. In the first time (Oct 2021), I was asked to reschedule 7 times. Then, I gave up waiting and chose an independent service provider, paying for it. In the 2nd time, this week, the service provider identified the issue, but was not able to fix it because of the need of a professional water/air pressure needed to unclog the pipes. But Choice said it would not pay for it. So, Unfortunately, I am not satisfied at all, and already decided to switch to another Home Maintenance company. And I will not be an advocate for Choice for friends and colleagues unfortunately. Good luck, LOT to improve in Customer Service.

I bought my home August 2022. Inspection report advised condenser should be cleaned because the drain pan was rusted. I submitted an invoice for this cleaning August 2022. September 2022, my evaporator coil broke & my AC wouldnt cool. 9.5.22 I submitted a claim because this is a very expensive fix. Everyday they asked for more information, which took a day to get another tech to come back, a day to review, and another day to get in touch for an answer. Everytime this happened, they asked for another item. I had to harass my HVAC tech they sent to write a letter saying a drain pan was rusted and it wasn't the problem of why the coil broke. I ended up spending $300 for each tech to come out, $220 for a NEW DRAIN PAIN? And I'm on day 11 waiting to get my claim approved. It's 95 degrees where I live in Texas. Both techs that were sent stated, I'm not sure why the warranty company needs you to get a new drain pan when it has nothing to do with the coil broken. 11 days. No AC. Why did I pay $500 to a warranty company that won't help me when a part to my AC breaks 30 days after I purchased my home built 6 years ago?
