Good response time. Send qualified technicians. Reasonable in sharing cost of repair / replacement except in case of major jobs such as AC compressors etc.

They let me upgrade my policy for a pool/spa after recommending they covered salt water pools. Joined them in May of 22. In August pool salt water cell died. Filed claim. Selected the "Salt Water Cell failed" option from their website drop down menu. Tech arrived verified dead said not in stock 6 month backorders. No problem. Paid 85$ fee, away he went. Jaunary of 23 no word from original tech. Filed new claim. Selected the "Salt Water Cell failed" option from their website drop down menu again. Checked my "whats covered" option on my account on their website. Minimalist page, says Covered - Pool/Spa. Set up with different company, different tech arrived February 1, verified dead, said was in stock had to get approval from Choice. Paid 85$ fee, away he went . Submitted for approval salt water cell order. Within 15 minutes Choice denied by email. Reason? "Your policy does not cover Salt Water Cells. See Section D and 1" Sales people I talked with at beginning said it covered salt water pools. Salt Water Cell problem is a dropdown menu choice on their website. If it is not covered why include it on your options list? Why not if it is selected, immediately inform them that is not covered? Why let someone file 2 claims and spend 85$ twice with two different companies? Bait and switch tactics. Poor customer communication. Bad business. FYI I finally found the coverage document. Well hidden on the website. Not on the large bright "What's Covered" button in your account. Hidden at the bottom of the page in small script. Deceptive.

I have lived all over the country and used several different home warranty companies. Choice Home Warranty is the worse that I've ever used. It was given to me as a gift by my realtor. It started from the original call to start service with them and the sales person was trying to bully me in to buying 2 years upfront. When I kept refusing, he swore at me and hung up. I just thought maybe someone was having a bad day. I have placed several service calls with them and the first response is they don't have anyone to service my problem and I should find my own person and they will reimburse me-which is a hassle. I am new to the area and that is one of the great things about a home warranty is that you instantly have qualified people. My policy is about to expire and I get at least one call a day to renew. I told the first couple of sales people that I will not be renewing, whereupon again, I am bullied, disrespected, etc. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone. There are better companies out there like First American Home Warranty. I had them for years and always felt valued as a customer.

Rating for Choice. Your sales department is very eager to talk. Your claims department, however, is not. I specifically went over every item that we needed to be covered with the sales person in May, which included the swimming pool pump and the well pump when he told me only the motor would be covered. He asked if it was for water inside the house or outside and I explained it was for the sprinkler system. I told him that was normal. If it is not on our warranty is the fault of the sales person. Very very displeased right now with choice, and may very very well change if this is not resolved Plumber a few months ago replaced Delta with cheap generic without consulting me before buying. Not happy

I have been waiting several days for choice home warranty to find someone to look at my furnace. They sent me an email advising that I could fo outside of their contacting agents but I would be responsible for 100% of the billed charges and Choice would reimburse me up to the contracted rate. REALLY I work in the insurance field and I know how these things work. You are basically trying to rip off your customers.

He was hard to understand over the phone and didn't introduce himself when he showed up. Also, he was on the phone with someone the whole time and didn't really communicate with me what he was doing before it was done. But he did fix the issue and it was a minor issue, but not something we had the expertise to correct ourselves.

2 parts were ordered for refrigerator. Main circuit board that controls freezer was delivered, but second part (face control plate) was backordered with unknown delivery date. Installers will not install circuit board until face plate arrives. Installation of circuit board will at least allow freezer to work correctly which currently does not freeze food. Choice and repair company were reluctant to make 2 repair trips and did not care about our food hardship and forced us to wait for the backorder even though the main circuit board we have would be beneficial. It has been 2 weeks now.

I feel that choice is only about "patching" issues and not fixing. And they don't care to waste your time. they would rather send a company to your house make you miss work multiple days for same issue to still not be resolved. Then to want to assign a different company to attempt to fix the issue that the other company was not able to fix in 6 attempts to fix. Then I added septic to my warranty to find out that everything I needed for my claim of course wasn't covered. even after it took CW 4 weeks to find a technician to come out. CW did nothing in those 4 weeks to expedite and work to get some one to my house. CW did not care that my plumbing was backing up. no one called with updates, then they tried to push me to find someone myself and do the reimbursement option and then have company of my choice deal with submitting a ridiculous amt of paperwork, pictures etc to even see if they would cover the claim, so they wanted me to do their work for them, every company I talked to did not want to deal with Choice as they said they wouldn't cover anything and they were all correct. it would of saved me a lot of time and headache to call and have it handled without Choice even involved.

We lost our furnace on December 5th. I called Hawkins Hearting and Air to come out and tell us what was wrong so it could be fixed immediately. Turned out it was the flame sensor. They replaced it immediately and charged $195.00 for parts & labor. We paid the bill on December 6th. The weather was in the teens. We didn’t have time to go through Choice Home Warranty first. After all Choice had covered the circuit board in the summer when the Air went out. Because we didn’t go through them first they would not cover it. Guess we were supposed to freeze while we went through the rig-a-ma-roll!! My husband and I are in our 70’s.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! I was with choice for 3 years and until 2 months ago, it has never been used. The first time was thankfully for a simple item with my washing machine tensioner pulley. The entire cost of that event was almost the exact same cost of the $75 service. That didn’t bother me as much as the second time are use them. The second event was related to a dish washer, becoming stuck under the heating element. This caused the water outlets area to not spin anymore and caused a melting of the tub where the heating element got jammed up. The technician deemed the item was not fixable, and after several weeks of going back-and-forth with Choice, they finally responded to the technicians service results. Unfortunately, the dishwasher I had in my kitchen was new almost $700. Choice barely offered 20% of the value. What they don’t tell you is it doesn’t matter what brand you have they will only give you the minimal amount for whatever brand they can fine cheapest. after dealing with a service manager on several attempts, they said they would only issue a gift card for $260 because they could find that feature in a cheaper model at a different store. They don’t even match the appliance to the store they are offering the credit for . After dealing with them for this situation, I decided that with customer service as shady as Choice Home Warranty I would be better off not having a warranty or going with somebody who provides better customer service. Of note, when my ex had an issue with an appliance she had, American home shield took it upon themselves to deliver to her house the exact same model, and covered installation and removal of the prior. I have unrolled the remainder of my three family members that I had previously convinced and now I am shameful for doing so them to sign with Choice . For the future, my family and I will be switching back with AHS. I will be taking the time to report this to the BBB.

They sent me a Lowes gift card for a microwave replacement cost and that gift card didn’t work at Lowe’s. Called customer care and after few days, they sent me the same gift card Info and it didn’t work again. Wasting my time for no reason. Also I am responsible for installing the new microwave, which is another big expense. Overall not happy with this replacement process. I could not find a similar microwave for the replacement cost. I have to now spend another couple of hundreds extra towards new one and installation cost. I could have bought a new one and be done with instead of going through all this.

I constantly have to follow up on claims. The technicians don’t communicate timely and are often late. The process to process claims is insane! You have to wait weeks to speak to someone about the value of your appliance and negotiate for a reasonable payout. It makes no sense that you have to schedule an appointment just find out what compensation is. There definitely needs to be some business process re-engineering updates.

I regret ever switching to Choice Home Warranty. If you are with another company stay with them. Took over a week to get a tech out. Then I got a replacement offer 1/3 of the actual cost of current retail. once i disputed that took another 5 days to talk to adjustment manager for them to tell me I will receive a gift card with in 30 days. I do not have a washing machine now, It's already been 2 weeks I need to buy one now. What the heck am i supposed to do with a gift card it can't be applied to card balance after purchase and who can wait an additional 30 days?

I think Choice Home Warranty might be the biggest scam ever. While I have used them for small claims and had success, it’s the big claims that they find a way to weasel out of. I had a 10 year old furnace that was maintained meticulously each year by the company that installed it. The internal burners were defective yet out of warranty. CHW claimed that I did not maintain the unit properly despite providing them with all the written invoices over the 10+ years. On a condo I own, the 44 year old furnace needed replacing but the technician they sent could not work on the unit nor did he report back to CHW that they couldn’t work on it therefore CHW would not send another technician. After contacting the original tech multiple times, they failed to return my call. I assume that is what CHW has them do to keep from having to replace an expensive unit. Buyer beware!!!!

Our AC went out when the Phoenix area temp reached 120 and stayed there. Our 23 year old unit just could not handle it. Choice called out a tech to fix it and he called me to confirm. When he didn’t show, I called him and he said he never got any paperwork. Of course, I wondered how he got my number. Called choice. They sent K&K heating & cooling. Waited over for them to come. They looked at the unit and recommended replacement and sent pictures and report to choice every time they said they hadn’t gotten anything. Finally over a week went by this way and then they acknowledged they had it after I called and complained (multiple times). Then they were in review over a week. My husband got very sick and dehydrated - he’s 79 years old. I called multiple times to get approval for what I thought was replacement no, repair was all they would do. At one point said they were not an emergency service. While I waited, part of my attic collapsed (not covered by home warranty) because there was a leak in the attic. K&K refused to come until I said I would be looking for their replacement. Then they said they would come 3 days later. No Thanks. Found a very nice guy who came and fixed it in 10 minutes in Sunday morning. I gad been asking them for 4 days to please come. The result of choice dragging their feet created a $26,000.00 repair! Would not give me a buy out on the repair so I could get a competent company to to the ac repair. K&K was willing to put in a 5 ton unit since I wanted a new unit instead of 3 ton which my house needs. There’s even a warning on the electric company site to never do this! DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM.

The sakes person told me everything was covered except a 75 dollar service call fee. No true, as soon as I had a water heater issue basically almost nothing was covered. I did a sink faucet was covered but that was small not major. And my monthly payments basically covered it I decided to cancel my policy after 4 months, did not feel it was worth it.

I have had to file a claim for my garage door opener. It is an old Stanley screw drive, and it decided not to open one morning it just made an awful grinding noise. Choice home warranty sent out a tech and he said it needed to be replaced as it is old and the parts are not available. Choice said the actual door was damaged at first. The door is not damaged. then they said the opener was damaged because the door was frozen closed by the cold weather and that striped the part on the opener, and that is an act of nature, and it is not covered. then they offered me $150.00 for compensation so I could fix the door myself. The repair is around $450-$500 and the warranty is supposed to cover 80%. I would not recommend this company to anyone, shop around. Claim #:182964633

Likes: That our monthly membership premiums stayed at $37.50 for 5 years straight. In 2023 it increased for the first time. Dislikes: That CHW didn't repair or replace our wall oven from our claim in 2020. The cash settlement only covered about half the cost of a new wall oven. That CHW didn't accept our claim in 2018 for our defective fridge. We had to shell out about $688 for a new fridge, OUCH! Finally, I dislike how CHW keep sending me email advertisements to sign up for an account. Wish they would stop!

Steer clear. Choice home warranty is NOT a BBB business and is classified as "C" by the BBB-- FOR A REASON. I just completed my first claim for a microwave with a broken control panel. I had to pay a technician $65 to assess the problem. He was unprofessional-did not have a business card or receipt for services, pants below his underwear. The determination was the microwave needed to be replaced. I was offered $191 for the same microwave that retails for $449 at Lowe's and Best Buy. Payment was to be in the form of a Lowe's e-gift card, even though I have coverage at Best Buy that includes installation. So, I would pay $453 for the microwave (with tax) + 129 installation + 65 service fee, bringing the grand total to $647. That's an underpayment of $456. How is that at all appropriate for a microwave that just went out of warranty less than a year ago? Also, I opted for a cash payment which will take 30 days. Choice is a giant waste of money. Buyer beware
