The choice home warranty customer service department is very hard to contact and once you email them. The couple times I have used some of the people they are efficient, very friendly and they come out, quite quickly. I'm trying to use my warranty, but I didn't realize it was a thirty day waiting period and so I was told that they would no longer cover the air conditioning unit in one of the units, but it works properly now so that was a good thing.

My experience was atrocious. After many emails with canned-disingenuous responses and many disingenuous calls with your call center, I finally got a agent that reached out (while I was on the phone) to two technicians in my area. He gave me their names, so I could follow up. One of them called me back, and he agreed to come and take a look at my air conditioner even though he hasn't worked for you for years because you don't pay enough. However, he felt sorry for me. He fixed the problem, and supposedly I will be reimbursed in 30 days. I need to say that your new policy of having your customers arrange for repairs because you have a shortage of technicians, is completely wrong, and it is BAIT and SWITCH situation. It is not what I paid for. It is your job not mine.

I had to get my past tech to come out he fixed it the first trip your techs was interested in the $65.00 only in which I paid 3 times inwhi h i should not have had to do so... Didn't listen to me or utility company about the problem instead went off the plumber who didn't complete the order… I hired another plumber and paid out of pocket over something I pay a warranty company for… they were so quick to deny my request to fix the “repair “

On 9/2 my water heater began leaking, I opened a claim with Choice Home Warranty (CHW) to have it taken care of. I received a response from CHW saying water heaters are NOT covered for leaking. I'm 66 years old, owned 11 houses and R&R dozens of water heaters, when they go it's because of a leak. I asked for a Case Manager to be assigned, one was quickly and a meeting was scheduled ASAP (20-days out). 30-minutes before the meeting a reminder was sent for me to be ready for the call. At the time of the call, there was no call. I replied to the reminder 5-minutes into the scheduled call saying I was waiting, nothing. I responded again 10-minutes and 15-minutes in to all the email addresses I had for CHW, NOTHING. Now is 26-days after the claim was filed and I still have heard NOTHING.

Lack of communication. I had to purchase a new washing machine. I was told I would receive "FUNDS" toward that purchase. Instead, I received a Loew's card. Never requested that card, I never shop there, prices too high. Now I am forced to look for something to buy to use this Loew's card.

Totally disgusted with the coverage of my refrigerator. The ice dispenser chute was not closing securely and repair man cam and fixed it... supposedly. Guess what, next morning same problem as originally reported. But now the repair man said a part was broken ... and Choice would not cover fixing the item because it was broken. I use the ice maker to dispense ice,,, NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR on the unit. I knew nothing about a "broken part until after the repairman came. CHOICE WOULD NOT COVER THE ITEM CAUSE IT WAS BROKEN... READ THE SMALL PRINT. They cover DAMAGED items, ,, but NOT BROKEN ITEMS. Well I certainly did not break the ice dispenser. Will NOT renew contract when comes up for renewal.

CHW takes a long time to find a vendor to come out and evaluate the problem. In cases when they have "replaced" an appliance, they did not cover the cost completely, and, in the case of my microwave, they did not cover installation. Apparently, this is in the fine print that I didn't see. In the case of my washer, CHW did not want to repair it and elected to "replace" it. They said they were sending me a Lowe's gift card to cover part of the replacement. To get a washer that was comparable to the one that broke, I had to spend about $300 more than what CHW paid. Additionally, they sent me a Lowe's gift card, which arrived over a month after my washer died. What was I supposed to do during all that time without a washer? I used my Lowe's credit card to order a new washer the day I found out that CHW was not going to repair my old one. It was here in a couple of days. I cannot use the gift card that CHW sent towards my credit card payment, so, effectively, CHW did NOT contribute anything towards the cost of my new washer. I won't be renewing or recommending CHW or any other home warranty in the future. I could have put the money into a savings account for such rainy days as this and covered the repairs/replacements instead.

The service person, Micky, was great. But I needed a new dryer right away so I put it on my Lowe’s charge b/c you said I could get a Lowe’s e-gift card. But Lowe’s would not take an e-card to pay off the charge, only to buy new. I couldn’t wait almost a month for a dryer. You needed to tell me that I could only buy new snd I would have requested a check instead. So now I have a large charge bill and a worthless e-card. I called for assistance, and also left a message with a case manager, Brittany H, but haven’t heard back.

Unhappy with service on my dishwasher. Didn't repair it and gave me credit to replace it. Which was a unfair amount. Now I as a handicapped Sr. Have to deal with finding one and having it replaced with money out of my pocket. And I really can't afford that. The role reason I bought this plan was so I would have deal with these issues.

CHW denied the repair of my HVAC unit after I joined because they said there was no way that problem could have happened since I joined a month prior. A month later my 2nd HVAC unit started making a noise. I submitted a claim. They approved it and sent someone out. That company found the problem and replaced the fan motor. Then CHW changed the claim status and refused to allow them to do a pressure test because they wanted proof of repair doe my first HVAC system which has nothing to do with this claim. Now they are making up false information about my 2nd unit and assuming what they want to instead of fixing my unit. What am I paying them for? I have a case manager but she just says the same thing the authorization team is telling her. I thought this was the best home warranty but seems like they don't want to fix my HVAC systems. If the case manager helps my situation then I will change this review.

Because they made two appointments for me. One was for a leaking refrigerator which was flooding the inside and outside. They made the appointment for five days later. I called and canceled the appointment and found someone who could come out immediately. In addition they made an appointment for some electrical repairs and when I called the electrical company to confirm they said they had not yet heard back from CHW for their pricing approval. I told them to come on because I had to have someone and I paid this out of pocket myself. I'm not very happy about my results so far and may actually cancel my policy.

I had a frustrating experience with customer support regarding my air conditioning repair. Despite paying for the service, no one has come to fix it after weeks, leaving me in a hot house. I also faced unexpected cost increases. In the past, they offered a subpar replacement unit, but I managed to repair my original unit myself. Overall, very disappointed with the service.

They often schedule unreliable companies to make the repair, and these companies often do not show up to make the repair, or once they make their first visit and collect the $65 service call fee, they won't come back for the 2nd visit to actually make the repair. I was without an air conditioner for over a month this summer as CHW attempted to schedule a company to make the repair.

Bait and switch tactics. Their contractual warranty indicates that if a unit can't be repaired, they will both replace and install a comparable unit, or offer a cash in lieu of settlement. They offered me a prepaid Lowe's card for an amount which wasn't sufficient to cover a comparable unit and replacement cost. The case manager assigned to my claim never responded to multiple phone calls and emails, and those people who I spoke to in his stead assured me that a supervisor would be calling me back. Those calls never came, and my claim issue only got resolved after I emailed the entire executive leadership team. The settlement was only for another $50, which was still insufficient to cover a new unit and installation. It should also be noted that the initial offer of a Lowe's card prevents a customer from seeking the best cost effective deal as they're locked in to a single retailer. I received my settlement as a check after pointing this out to the Choice rep who finally got back to me, and insisted on their either paying me by check or prepaid VISA or Master Card.

I've been waiting since August 8th for repair of my refrigerator and the ONLY assistance I'm getting from Choice is them saying "we've called the technician and left a message for them to call you." If Choice can't get them, what makes them I can. No one at Choice can tell me how long I'm supposed to go without a refrigerator. It's currently September 15th.

I used my warranty because my washer failed they came out and checked it out, and told me they didn't want to repair it, they wanted to replace it and so they would give me money for replacement. Then they said they would send me a gift card which I didn't want, I wanted a cash for I just want a cash or check. Nobody would answer the phone and give me an answer, they just told me that's how it is and that's how it's going to be and a person from Choice sent me an email saying it will contact me and help you resolve the issues and they gave me a URL to go to. I went there and it says page not available, so I called them several times and they never called me back and so I still have not received payment or check or gift card or anything. I think the company suffers greatly from customer service.

Dryer broke, the part that was sent is not compatible with my dryer. Repair guy left said he wasn't able to reach choice home warranty so I called when he left. Lady on the phone said no problem we will contact repair people to verify the dryer can't be fixed. She said it should only take a few hours. I waited 24 hrs called back, the guy on the phone said the same thing. It has now been a week since I last talked to anybody. I have not received any up dates. I'm about to call again. I'm not sure why it's hard to contact the repair people they sent out.

I was Very disappointed on my claim made for my water heater, which was denied. As per claims representative, tank is not covered. In my opinion, when you advertise the items you cover to make the sale. Is false advertisement, cause the Tank is part of the water heater. Now!! I got stuck with the bill. When I had a/c problems, they did nothing to help but use their "get out of paying clause"(We don't cover anything caused by rust or corrosion). My coils had rust or corrosion so they didn't cover that and I understood but my compressors had not rust or corrosion and the compressor problem was not related to the rust or corrosion on the coils but they kept saying "it's not covered because of rust or corrosion". When my microwave had a problem they offered a Lowe's gift card to replace the microwave rather than repair it. The offer was for about 1/2 of the cost of a new one. I accepted the offer but they said it would take up to 30 days for the electronic gift card to reach me via email. For an electronic gift card coming via email, they should have had it to me within an hour of when I agreed to the offer so I could have taken advantage of the sale price at Lowe's.

My rating is zero. (1) Frequently, incompetent tradesmen: For example, last spring, a plumber took two and a half weeks to show up and completely misdiagnosed the toilet problem, which Choice refused to repair (thank goodness) for a flimsy reason, and then the plumber wanted to charge me over $900 to fix. (I nearly got an ulcer trying to deal with the plumber and Choice customer service during this time. (2) When an item needs to be replaced, Choice offers a fraction of the actual cost, so I always have to file a complaint with the BBB in New Jersey. (3) Choice has the absolutely worst customer service. (4) Worst company on the face of the earth.

Have only had a couple claims so far but they were mostly handled in an efficient manner. Only drawback is that we're being billed for our $75 fee from Sears Home Services that was paid at beginning of claim.

If an item needs to be replaced, Choice should cover the full price. Also, if a refrigerator needs to be replaced because it is broken, there should be a more immediate reimbursement process. I have been without a refrigerator for 2 weeks and it has been very expensive to eat and very annoying. I think 30 days to wait for a gift card to get a new refrigerator is ridiculous. Also, it should be a general gift card and not one to a specific store. I found that other stores have better prices than Lowes. This has been a horrible experience.
