Flexible Payment Options

Sunnova offers a number of payment options for customers to choose from.

The company's EZ Own option gives homeowners the opportunity to purchase a system without any upfront costs and pay a fixed amount each month for a 25-year term, which is substantially less than the average electric bill. At the end of the term, the customer will own the solar power system.

Sunnova's EZ Pay PPA is another diverse financing option that only requires customers to pay for the energy produced by the system at a flat monthly price. There is also a standard lease option available, during which the customer will essentially be renting the panels from Sunnova.

Helpful Moving Options

If a customer within Sunnova's residential solar market decides to move while under contract, Sunnova offers a number of options: the customer can transfer the service agreement over to the new owner, pre-pay the remainder of the contract and transfer it to the new owner, or move the system to a new address. This is especially beneficial for homeowners who are less permanent.

Wide State Availability

Not only does Sunnova install quality panels, but the solar company also provides backup battery storage in the event of a power outage in the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Pennsylvania, Nevada, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Texas.

The company's renewable energy services are also available in the Virgin Islands, which means many consumers have the option to go solar with Sunnova.

Long Contract Terms

Sunnova requires a 25-year service agreement, which is higher than the average 20-year agreement employed by most other solar energy companies. While this can still lead toward a path to ownership, longer-termed solar loans are often accompanied by relatively higher interest rates. Customers should get in touch with a Sunnova employee for specific terms and conditions prior to signing a contract.

Additionally, Sunnova does not offer a production guarantee for PPAs, which can be detrimental if the system isn't producing as much as it should be during the length of the contract.

No Buyout Option For Leases

The company's lease options do not include a buyout option for the Sunnova customer, which creates a disadvantage for those who may need to move while under contract.

The Bottom Line

Terrible company. We have not once produced our 'guaranteed' solar production since 2015 when they were installed. We spend most of our days on hold with this company getting the run around or them opening a 'case' to see what is going on. The next time we call the representative tells us something completely different then the last representative. I know they will probably reply to my review with a scripted apology and not do anything to correct our issue. I wish we never signed up with this company. It makes me so sick to be paying $200 a month an electric bill and $86 to sunnova. We are just throwing our money away when it should be spent on our kids.

I switched to solar 5 months ago. Every month since my bill has been less than $13 a month!!! I could not be happier with the whole experience if I tried. It look great. The boxes inside and outside are discreet and clean. The staff was very professional from beginning and end and my sales guy was amazing. And although I was told the process would take a few months the whole project was done in less than 1 month. If I didn't already have solar I'd definitely go with this company!! Thank you all so much from $350/ month to $13 I mean really how great is that!!!

Horrific customer service. My panels have not been working for months now, I have called and emailed several times they don’t even respond but still charging me every month like clockwork. So now the last few months I’ve been paying double what I used to pay before I even had the panels. So disappointed and would love to rip them off my roof and go elsewhere. How can you respond to all these reviews saying you strive to be attentive and please send you a private message when it is clear you don’t respond to them! Do not expect a payment from me next month if this isn’t fixed because I refuse to continue to pay for something that is not working

Your installer (Infinity Energy) damaged our roof. I called you first and was told to contact Infinity. It took 4 calls to get throug to you first. After 5 or 6 attempts I finally got an answer at Infinity ans was told they would refer this to their service department. I am 2 weeks into this issue by now and it is now almost 4 weeks and still no response. I paid a roofer to fix our roof, only cost $100 so not a not deal but Infinity's service sucks and that reflects on you equally.

I'm in the process of refinancing my home. Turns out even though Sunnova in their on-line adds say the do not put a lien on your home they do. It is called a UCC (Uniform commercial Code). This stops you from selling or refinancing your home without Sunnova being involved. They will lift the UCC for thirty days but it cost us $300 to do so. While this is pretty irritating in itself and a rip-off. It got worse, they were notified of the refinance 3 weeks before closing but failed to follow up and the invoice arrived the week of closing. Of course they do not take credit card payments, mailed checks only for this. So closing got delayed, more daily interest charges and we wait. I understand the need to protect their equipment on our house (we lease) but in a refinance nothing changes. Silly rip off and if they want to protect their equipment with a lien (UCC) why don't they pay to lift it for 30 days? Oct 9 Well it got worse, after three customer service people and one supervisor told me the $300 dollars is pass through money, that it all goes to the county to lift the lien and reset it 30 days later. I decided to check with the county and they charge a maximum of $40 for lifting and dropping it back on. So where does the other $260 go? As I guess into the pockets of the company, I'm sure they are not paying any employee $260 to call this exchange in. As I suspected a rip-off, since I'm not expecting a refund of $260.

Was told by salesman my bill would be $59.27 from sunnova & that would cover electro usage. At times I might get a bill fro pse&how but it would be only $20 or so . Got a bill today for $136. From pse& g which now makes my electric bill 2x what it was. Tried calling sunnova & was cut off twice after holding for 20 minutes each time! So far this seems like a ripoff

Update to my 10/22/2019 Review. Again, this is happening. Not even 6 months later. Nothing but problems from day 1. Read my review from 9/26/2019. This is so frustrating, our panels are again not sending production, so again, we are on PG&E’s grid. I have called PG&E and they have confirmed that indeed they are not receiving production from our house for the last 2 weeks. Two weeks might not sound like a long time, but again, read my 9/26/2019 review, a couple weeks turns into months and that turns into owing PG&E thousands of dollars, which no one would want to pay. The only good thing when this happened last time is, Oscar, Sunnova’s Issue Resolution Specialist, see my 10/22/2019 review, he helped tremendously, but unfortunately, I cannot get ahold of him directly. I need a technician appointment, my envoy is completely dead, no lights, nothing, we have tried to reboot the system, turn breakers on and off, and nothing works. The envoy needs to be replaced and thank God I have a brand new one from the last time this happened. (last time the tech said the issue wasn’t the envoy but a burnt/bad outlet, which he replaced) So I still have the new envoy, I just need it installed by a technician. Oscar, if you are out there, PLEASE HELP!!! ========================= Update to my 9/26/2019 Review. After my 9/26 posted review, that very same day, I did get a call from a Sunnova, from Oscar- their Issue Resolution Specialist. Oscar was a pleasure to speak with and obviously did his job in escalating and resolving the issue, as I got a technician appointment on 10/14/19 and the system was fixed that same day. The issue remains- why an “issue resolution specialist” can get such quick action but their customer service representatives cannot?? The thing that bothers me is the fact that my panels had not been producing since 6/2019, but Sunnova still got their monthly lease payment from June 2019 to October 2019. On 9/26/19 Oscar mentioned that they would “suspend” my lease payment, which basically means that they will put it on hold until the system is fixed-then they will back bill you- suspending payment is not compensation. Any responsible company would do the right thing and compensate their customers. Unfortunately, we’ve already been wronged two separate times (2017 and 2019) with having to pay large monthly PG&E bills and monthly solar payments, simultaneously. I am not confident that this is the last time I’ll have a problem with my solar panels. I will post any future issues that occur so that consumers are aware and hopefully do not sign any lease contracts with Sunnova.

From the start everyone I talked with was very knowledgeable, explained all details and advised me of my options. They kept me informed on all stages of installation and followed up with emails and phone called. The service was excellent. Even in the last stage of powering up I had the options of someone coming out, I could get instructions and do it myself or I could call and they would walk me through the process. Great business relationship!! I even got a rebate! I highly recommended them! You want be disappointed!

First, the problem was not necessarily with Sunnova, however the installation team they hired was a big problem. So, I feel Sunova is as much responsible as they are because I did not have any input in that choice. First, they tore off a huge portion of gutter that was on the back of my house, to which they neglected to inform anybody of this incident. Initially I let it go until I found out how much they are to replace properly and that a hole was made on a pipe to my water heater when they installed the ground. When I called the company the supervisor argued with me and basically was not going to have anyone take care of it because that was not their "Forte". That was after several attempts trying to get a hold of him since he takes very long lunches. The last time we had spoke he said he would get back to me, but I gather he must still be at lunch. So, I was left to take care of that problem on my own, in MY spare time! The gutter never was discussed since he is still at lunch. So, just hope that they have responsible and careful workers or you will be left to fix the problems they left. Then, which I was not made aware of till it was time to turn them on, PG and E has a contract that must be signed stating that you are responsible for overages of use. I believe this is where everybody gets the scam thought in their head because you would think you are producing the correct amount of energy, apparently not. So, in the end my bill will be about the same each month as it was before, because once I averaged the overage charges and add the cost of the panels, it's basically the same with the exact same usage. I just have the peace of mind that I am using solar instead. My solar has just been turned on, so other than those issues we will have to see what happens. Thank you!

The installation at start was a bit discomforting. Had a hard time adjusting to Illinois laws and city codes. I think for the village of Bolingbrook they were writing them while installing the solar system. Since the system has been on , no problems. Enjoying the low electric bill.

I was lucky to have a great sales representative. The installation team was foniabl. Service has been good so far. Everyone has answered all my questions. I monitor my system twice a day and compare my electrical bill and system spreadsheets from sunnova. I have only one thing I like to and that is to add about 3-4 panels. I love my system.
