Long Contract Terms

Sunnova requires a 25-year service agreement, which is higher than the average 20-year agreement employed by most other solar energy companies. While this can still lead toward a path to ownership, longer-termed solar loans are often accompanied by relatively higher interest rates. Customers should get in touch with a Sunnova employee for specific terms and conditions prior to signing a contract.

Additionally, Sunnova does not offer a production guarantee for the PPA option, which can be detrimental if the system isn't producing as much as it should be during the length of the contract.

No Buyout Option For Leases

The company's lease options do not include a buyout option for the Sunnova customer, which creates a disadvantage for those who may need to move while under contract.

We had many companies come to our house and try to sell us solar panels one even tried to rent solar panels to us but they were not within our budget. Sunova is the only one who offered us exactly what we needed. We are pre-senior citizens and are looking at a fixed budget in which we needed solar panels in order to make sure that our quality of life is not compromised because of the soaring electric rates. So nova offered us a budget based rental of solar panels in which they maintain them for us which is another plus and fits within our budget. We were concerned about any maintenance and repairs that might occur but that worry is completely gone. They are solely responsible for whatever happens to the Panels that is beyond our control. This is the best program out there. As a mathematician the math adds up. I read the entire 32 pages of the contract and everything seemed legitimately good.

Panels installed by Trinity Solar are working great.... The whole process from signing contract to installation to setting up account went fast. The reason for only 4 **** Stars was the very poor, almost useless Sunnova App which only shows 3 things... KWH for Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days and All Time. Does not show daily amounts or other info on performance of system. (I had cell/PC App on my previous solar system when I lived in CT which gave all that info!!!) I would rate the Sunnova App a grade of "F". I was able to get the great app from inverter manufacturer Solar Edge... I would give Solar Edge app a grade of A+ -- Sunnuva MUST make available an app that allows users to see performance of system (which will enable users to show friends their results which will lead to referrals.

Everything happened as planned. Everything is working well. I wish they didn’t have to shovel ice off my roof because there are little particles from my roof on my driveway and deck. I wonder if that will shorten the life of my roof. I have not had my panels long enough to pay the first bill

I am still not very agreeable on the location of the panels on the building, due to some trees blocking the sun. The original estimate hadn’t included the trench, then after I signed contract I had to sign another contract for the trench. The trench backfill had a very rocky surface and wasn’t rolled or made flat. Cleanliness while the install crew was there was not exceptional. I am really hoping for results from this system soon.

I am very happy to have the system in my house. Being that I live in a place where electric power constantly fails and that I work from home, I can safely say I no longer have that problem. I can not afford to not have electricity because my work depends on it. I am actually paying the same/slightly less than what I was paying in my electric bill, but I choose to have it like that because I wanted to make sure we have electric power at home; feel safe that everything is working. I choose a larger system than my house needed because we wanted to make sure we cover future projects at home and also make sure to have double the battery capacity. I strongly recommend people to change one bill for the other since we have to pay for electricity anyway. This system makes me and my family more resilient and able to continue even under outages.

The Sunnova installers damaged my clay tile roofs even though I gave them spares to patch back their damaged. It caused a leak in my house 8-years after install and $85K of damage. In addition, they wired the panels wrong. They had the panels installed in series instead of parallel, which made the system not effective. When I called customer service, they only guaranteed roof warranty of 1-year and the system warranty of 10-years as long as I don’t pay off my system. Unfortunately for me, I paid off the system to avoid paying their monthly charges. Their customer service was good to pick up the phone and answered my questions, but the company executed poorly to service or repair any damages their system created. I do not recommend Sunnova because they sub out their installation to people who are not qualified to work on solar or roofs.

I have had no issues with the company. I knew during contracting that my bill would go up by about $5.00 every 6 months or so, which I was told is less than projected increases from my electric company, but I do wish that it was less than a dollar every 6 months or a year. Wishing thinking, but I just wanted to say that. You are doing very well because that is my only concern. Thank you for such good service! My family and I appreciate it!

As a new customer, I am very disappointed with your customer service. The sales associate that your company send told us a different story just to sign us up and all the staff he promised you said you don't know anything about it. Plus not sure about the other company but once you put your panel which is on October, my service started in April. Which again your associate Mark said the max it will take is a couple months. Sales pitch was great. Then they turned my project over to second and third party installers and operators. Did not hear from them until after the fact. I was getting bounced around from Sunnovo and the third party operator. So far the third party site is more informative than the information available on the sunnovo app. I have to have both to see what is going on. Kind of inefficient. Still waiting to see what my FPL cost savings will be.

Solar panels go in on Tuesday along with a new breaker box (2 days for the panel). Communication has been great for all steps leading up to this.

Very pleased with the whole process. My only go back would be for a better explanation of the federal tax credit. You don't get it all in the first year unless you owe huge taxes. I had to make significant investment changes to get the remaining 70% in the second year.

Their customer service phoneline is hilariously awful, but don't judge the outsourcing here too harshly - behind this front line group are a team of dedicated account professionals that can actually handle any issues that may arise.

The sales representative was very knowledgeable in answering my questions. The installers were excellent. Customer service was not as helpful. Customer service said i could receive my invoice through regular mail not through the internet. When i called again customer service said they could not do that. I am a victim of identity theft and do not like doing any business on line and it states in your contract that I can choose to have it nailed to my po box. My electrics bill is still higher than I like. But what's done is done. I see solcius went bankrupt. I can no longer reach the sales representative and a few times when i called customer service you referred me to the sales representative. In the future I believe you all need to be on the same page.

Having the solar system installed was an easy process. The company replaced my roof then installed the solar panels. Monitoring the system is easy and can be done using a computer or smart phone. The technology appears to be top notch.

I really appreciate how helpful everyone has been through the whole process of “going solar”. Early on every time I had questions and concerns our solar consultant was always willing to make time to meet and explain, clarify and educate us on everything we needed to know. Beyond that all other steps to go live were straight forward and easy and the cutover was seamless that I only knew it happened because I received confirmation that our electricity was now being generated by our solar panels. What a great experience for someone like me who knew solar could be beneficial but was a little skeptical of how to make the transition. Now we have been live for a couple of weeks and everything seems just as it was before when we were getting our energy direct from the electric company.

Never showed up —- TWICE. DIDNT CALL AT ALL THE SECOND TIME. Called after I waited 3 1/2 hrs for them to show up the first time to let me know they were not coming. Then I had to wait for a reschedule which wasn’t even in the same week. Can’t recommend!

I wish i could give it -0. For 6 months my system was not working so my electric bills were over 500.00 a month plus paying Sunnova 93.00 a month. Then i wrote a bad review and my panels were fixed within hours. They lied for 6 months to me that parts were available. And they offered me only $250.00 in a visa card. What a joke! I should of been offered way more for me spending over $3,000 in bills. DO NOT BUY OR BELIEVE ANYTHING THEY SAY!
