With all products, a simple push of the panic button connects you instantly to a highly trained emergency response operator who determines and sends the help you need — anytime, anywhere. Whether you've suffered a serious injury or simply want to notify a caretaker of your whereabouts, help is standing by.

All systems come with a backup battery so you're protected in the case of a power outage. Each wearable system is also incredibly lightweight and waterproof, so you can even wear the emergency buttons in the shower where accidents frequently occur.

Home System

Medical Alert's Home System has a two-way speakerphone alarm base that works with or without a landline and includes lightweight wrist and neck buttons. Just press the help button on any system, and an operator will respond immediately.

Setting up the Home System is simple. You plug the base station unit into a wall outlet to power it up, connect the phone cord (if your system requires a landline), and then turn it on. That's it.

Mobile System

Medical Alert's Mobile System is made for those who want the guarantee of help wherever they are. The system uses GPS technology to identify your location if there is an emergency. It includes a handheld mobile system, lightweight bracelet, lanyard buttons, carrying case, charging cradle, and cord. Just press the help button on any system to reach an operator.

The Mobile System is also extremely easy to set up. Just make sure the mobile system is fully charged. Once it's charged, you'll want to test the system by pushing the emergency button.

No Hidden Fees

Unlike many alert companies, with Medical Alert, you won't be hit with any activation, installment or equipment fees. You also won't have to sign any long-term contracts. This is a great contrast to some other companies in the medical alert industry that rope customers into long-term contracts that can cost hundreds to buy out of.

Medical Alert offers a 30-day, risk-free Money-Back Guarantee. If you aren't satisfied with its service, you can cancel without penalty and without paying the first monthly fee.

Medical Alert Pricing

Medical Alert is one of the most affordable medical monitoring system companies on the market. You can pay a monthly fee, or you can opt for a semi-annual or annual plan, but you'll get the best rate if you pay annually:

  • Home (Landline) — Starts at $19.95 per month
  • Home (Cellular) — Starts at $29.95 per month
  • Mobile — Starts at $39.95 per month

Optional automatic fall detection is available for an additional $10 monthly fee. This will be tacked on to your original monthly cost. Medical Alert also offers a protection plan for any product for just $1 extra per month.

If you order today, you’ll get FREE ground shipping and one FREE month of service with any annual plan.

30-Day Money-Back Guarantee

If you aren't satisfied with Medical Alert's services, you can return your devices for a full refund — no penalties, no fine print. Since there are no long-term contracts, you can cancel at any time. Customers can enjoy some peace of mind knowing that they can try Medical Alert's services risk-free and have a trial period to decide if the medical alert service is the right one for them.

Optional Fall Detection

Medical Alert's emergency services include optional fall detection on any medical alert system. The automatic fall detection technology will detect a fall if you are unable to press the button. The advanced technology is built into a special pendant and can be added to any plan for just $10 per month.

This unique feature is ideal for those at risk of falling, having a heart attack or seizure, or experiencing a medical emergency that might result in a fall. It provides peace of mind not just to the user, but also to his or her family members.

Medical Alert Connect App

It's not uncommon for medical alert companies to have caregiver tools, but Medical Alert takes it a step further by providing its own free, easy-to-use caregiver app. The Medical Alert Connect App is available for all Medical Alert customers. Whether you're the medical alert user, a loved one, or a caregiver, you can use the Connect App to check the medical alert system status, its contact list, as well as the system's testing schedule (the test schedule is when Medical Alert will regularly test the system to ensure it's working properly).

The app allows for multiple users, so if you have more than one medical alert system, such as for a spouse, you're able to use the app for both systems. The app sends instant notifications if a system is in use and also specifies whether it's a test or if it's an emergency. You can also contact Medical Alert directly through the Connect App. The app also has location monitoring, so you can locate the system and its user(s) at any time.

24/7 Certified Monitoring Centers

Medical Alert offers 24/7 professional monitoring by highly trained, multilingual, SIA-Certified operators. The company has full redundant, U.S.-based, UL-certified monitoring centers, and provides coverage in all 50 states as well as Canada, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.

In case of an emergency, the SIA-certified operator will dispatch the appropriate help for a customer's situation. Just press the emergency button on the medical alert device and the base station will send a signal to the monitoring center.

A customer from Washington highlights the prompt service he's received from the monitoring centers and customer service:

"Whenever I make a mistake and push it, they always ask me if I am okay or if anyone around me needs any assistance. I check it every month to make it is working and it works every month. When you call customer support, they satisfy you promptly, they don't mess around because they care about being efficient."

The Bad

  • Lost or Damaged Equipment Fee
  • No Activity Monitoring

Lost or Damaged Equipment Fee

Since you lease the equipment from Medical Alert, you are responsible for covering the cost of lost or damaged devices. This can cause added stress, especially for those prone to losing things.

However, Medical Alert offers a protection plan for any panic button and alert system to ensure fast replacement of parts. The protection plan covers in-home and mobile systems and prevents out-of-pocket expenses of up to $350.

The protection plan is currently only $1 extra per month, which is on the cheaper end when compared to other medical alert companies who typically charge $5 extra per month.

No Activity Monitoring

Medical Alert's monitoring service does not include activity monitoring, although most customers prefer the simplicity of the unit if they purchased them for safety. The units also don't connect directly to a smartphone. So consumers who want to track loved ones have to download an app, but the app is free to all customers and it includes GPS tracking. You can read Medical Alert reviews below to see if this negatively affected past medical alert customers.

The Bottom Line

Medical Alert offers a full suite of affordable, easy-to-use products designed to keep you safe at home and on the go. Medical Alert offers optional fall detection, an invaluable service through which a highly trained emergency response operator is automatically notified of a fall even if a user cannot push the help button.

Medical Alert products are lightweight, waterproof, and extremely reliable. The company has quality customer support and affordable prices, making them a great choice for those looking for safety, security, and ultimate peace of mind

This is definitely a brand to be given top consideration when looking for a personal emergency response system. Read Medical Alert reviews below to see what customers have to say about the company.

The button is a little to sensitive for me, I think people who have plenty of hand strength should have an option for an alert that isn't quite so sensitive. I realize it should only be used as a last resort since it's purpose is to save an individual in a situation of dire need. I don't know what a good idea to address this issue would be, in my case like last night, I rolled over in bed and my finger it it just right to set it off. Also, yesterday I was opening a coke bottle and brought it up to my chest since they sometimes require better leverage to open. To my surprise the bottle hit the button and set off a false alarm. Just a thought, I've taken to removing it at night when I go to bed and put it on my night stand. I can still reach it and hit the button, that works for me.

I would like to get monthly reminders of who and in what order my call system has on file. Originally the rep had the order of who should be called in the incorrect order. Also, when my mom had unplugged and plugged the system back in it inadvertently created an event where the last contact person on the contact list was called and in the meantime the police or EMT’s were called out. When I contacted MA, and told them it was a false alarm, they said that they would contact the back up emergency contact to inform them of this. Why wasn’t a follow up report sent? Without this, I have no idea of who was contacted and in what order.

Good device for purposes. Lot of false alarms from dropping, etc, but easy to cancel. Good to have it more rather than less sensitive.

It is cumbersome in that it uses the landline. In one situation, the response was not quick enough that we actually had to initiate a call to 9-1-1 and could not use the landline but a cell phone. While on the cell phone with dispatch is when the Medical Alert team came over the system to ask if we needed assistance. Otherwise, the response has usually been timely even with a false alarm.

I LIKE THE WAY MEDICAL ALERT RESPONDS TO MY QUESTIONS. THEY WERE SLOW ACKNOWLEDGING RECEIPT OF RETURNED ITEM ON MY ACCOUNT RESULTING IN MY RECEIVING TWO CALLS ASKING ME TO TEST MY EQUIPMENT AND ONE CALL REQUESTING A PAYMENT I DID NOT OWE. THE CALLS WERE AN INCONVENIENCE/ HOWEVER, ONCE I EXPLAINED THINGS THE ISSUES WERE PLEASANTLY RESOLVED.

Excellent and near immediate response to emergency signals, very helpful staff at their call center. The only complaint is the hair - trigger sensitivity is the pendant 's Red button. It can trigger an alarm just by swinging against your body while ,(clumsily) getting into the shower, or standing up quickly.

We haven't had to use it yet but my wife has Alzheimer's and we take her out walking, and she is not really steady on her feet so, we have the fall alert and we take the base station with it so if we had to call in we could. The response when I call in is excellent and they were very courteous in getting it set up. They have been understanding and nice when I had some problems and had a few accidents, they didn't make me feel like I was not very bright when I kept having a problem. They helped me straighten it out and I appreciated their attitude. We are confident if we need it for a real emergency it will work and they will be there for us.

Medical Alert has the best price and the best features. I try to wear their device all the time, although I don't wear it around my neck. I have pushed it a couple of times while it's been in my pocket. In the few times I've actually used it, my friends have been able to come over and check me out to make sure I'm okay. Medical Alert's customer support keeps track of me, and if I don't call them once a month, they call to remind me to check the button and have it tested. I think the device can be a bit cumbersome at times. I don't wear it around my neck because the teeth from the back of it have come off. I also have used the clip that goes around my belt area or on a purse.

I shopped around different places and got the prices for different services. In the end I chose them because they were willing to work with me on my budget. The price is still kind of high for me but it's ok. On any day I put it in its pouch and have it in my pocket. I can take it anywhere I go so I don't have to worry if anything happens. Regular customer support is good, but I've been having problems with billing. They keep calling me to tell me something was paid or something else wasn't. It also makes me really upset when they pull it out of my account directly, and I've got record of them doing that.

My father read about it on the paper and we just decided to try it. I have it on my cupboard and it's there if I need it. I don't like the button they gave me that can detect falls automatically. It's so sensitive that even if I swing the thing a little it goes off. I stopped wearing it and as far as I'm concerned it's a waste of money. Still, I do like the service. One time I fell and couldn't get up myself, so I pushed the button. They called us back promptly and got the ambulance for me. The police were actually the first ones to get there but they got the ambulance too. I know that there's a few similar devices that are a little less expensive.

I've had it for many years because I live alone and I'm handicapped. I recently got upgraded to the one that you can just carry with you instead of using the machine. I can still drive, and I have a walker and a wheelchair, so I can wear it around my neck all the time. I guess the only downside is that I can't sleep with it, but I keep it next to my bed when I sleep. The only thing is that I haven't done the whole booting up process yet, which caused a problem when I fell a couple of days ago. The thing wasn't working and the base wasn't receiving a call. I was still able to get the doorknob and get my dog to get to my phone and call 911. The EMT were able to get to me and help me up. Customer service has been very friendly and nice about everything though.

I've used it a couple of times, once for my husband and twice for myself. On one of those occasions, I fell and pressed the buzzer. Since I was too far away, I couldn't get to the speakers, but they sent people anyways. They knocked on the door and were very prompt. The people that came were very polite, helped me up, and dusted me off. The res ponders, usually from the fire department, are also very nice and helpful. Even when my cat accidentally hits the buzzer, I jut call them to let them know that it was a mistake and they are very nice and patient about the situation. They have a lot of patience with one's disability. Medical Alert has given me new courage, especially when it comes to falling.

My doctor recommended I get this after my daughter researched it. I'll be 90 soon and he didn't think I should be alone all day because I have a heart condition. I wanted to continue living on my own, I like my independence and so I got Medical Alert. On a typical day, I get up and put it on. I bring it into the bathroom with me, shower, get dressed and I put it on. I take it off when I go to bed and that's that. I've set it off accidentally several times, it is hard not to make it go off. In fact, since I have it set so that it detects falls automatically I've set it off sometimes like that. We did have a problem once while ordering, but my daughter got on the phone with them and the Medical Alert people were very nice about it and fixed the problem. It makes me feel a little safe. It's as if a friend or somebody was always with me to give me the protection that I need.

I do have a problem I think my emergency call list might have a problem that I'll address by calling you. It appears my home number and my emergency call number is the same so when they call my emergency contact number they got a busy I assume you were calling me on my home number as well. It just seems to be a set up issue and I need to get in touch with you for that. Other than that I think the system is wonderful it does everything that I need for it to do and more.

The Medical Alert team is very responsive to your pushing the alert button. However, the alert button is very sensitive and even pulling a jacket sleeve over the alert has set it off. Also, the necklace alert button is as sensitive. It has been set off by hitting the button against a table edge! As I said, the response has been great. I am embarrassed by the fact that the team has to take time so often to answer my false alerts!

I think that your people do a terrific job! I have had some troubles with the equipment. The older version of my necklace was great, even with fall detection. The first new version also had fall detection but it was so sensitive that it would go off every time I was riding my mobility scooter. I now have a necklace without fall detection and a second one with fall detection but I don't wear it.

When I first got it, I wore it around my neck and after less than a week it broke and the button was lost so I had to do reorder and purchase a maintenance program in case it broke again. I was not happy about that but I have been wearing it on my wrist now and it is a little uncomfortable and gets in the way of writing and typing and things like that. I have accidentally pushed the button a few times and they have responded and taken care of it. They respond right away and keep responding until I answer and I think it is very good and attentive.

I've had it for a few years and I haven't had to use it for a fall but I like the fact that I know that I have it available working for me, it gives me peace of mind. It is easy to use. I am unhappy that the new device in one I shouldn't be sleeping in and the wristband is difficult to put on. The hole is too short and have an extremely difficult time clasping it. I am very unhappy with the wrist device now but until just recently I was feeling very positive. Also I have started paying more and since I don't like the wristband I was unhappy about that too.

I needed some type of system that could help me in case of fall or injury because I live alone. They have been able to answer all my questions that I've had and to assist me to any way that I needed. When I went out of town recently, I didn't know if I should take the entire equipment with me not, but I took it with me and during the process, I lost it. Customer Service was so good and they were able to tell me exactly where it was. I hadn't lost it, but left it in my car. With the info that they have they can get your family aware of what's going on with you.

My balance isn't very good; I have to use a walker since I fall a lot. So, after my husband passed away, my niece got this for me. A lot of times the alert goes off on its own, it's very sensitive. I have had to use it when I fell in my bedroom after taking a shower. I broke my shoulder and cut my leg badly but they helped. This is good for anybody that lives alone.

I got it because it can be used anywhere in the country as long as you take your monitor with you. They've been pretty good so far. I have both the wristband and the necklace, so I can wear any of them if I want to. I've only ever used it by mistake. One day I was out when I leaned against something and apparently I pushed the necklace's button by mistake. The life squad came out right away, but I was alright. It costs me about $120 every 3 months but it's worth every penny.

My wife and I are old enough that we're beginning to worry about falling and such. We trip easily and my wife has actually fallen and broken her neck, so we decided to get it. We've had it for about 4 months and we wear the buttons 24 hours a day. The button is very sensitive but I'm really happy about that. They're really good about getting to us if we have an emergency or even if the alarm goes off on its own. I've turned on the main machine before and they still called to make sure we were alright.

My daughter picked it for me. I mostly have it so her and my kids in general will have peace of mind. Otherwise they wouldn't let me live alone. I've never used it on purpose, only by accident. That's mostly because the one that goes around your neck is very temperamental and goes off too easily. They always respond right away when that happens though and they're very polite and nice.

I didn't really have any say in choosing it, someone else did that for me. On a typical day, I just have it around my neck and hope I don't actually need it. Customer support is responsive and they answer my calls. It's the most expensive medical alert system that I've heard about. I had once before that was less expensive and it worked okay. Their people were very eager and it was good.

I just kind of tried it. At the time I was by myself and I needed something that I could use to get help. I haven't had to use it but I wear the wristband. I tried using the neck piece but it goes off on its own automatically when I'm sleeping. It's not really designed as well as I would like it to be. They owe me some money and they haven't paid me yet.

So far so god. I had two days where I accidentally set it off, and they were there in no time at all. If I had needed actual help, they would have been here right away. I wear the wristband since that was better for me, the necklace goes off accidentally, especially if I slept on it. I'm a tummy sleeper you see, so wearing the bracelet is better when I sleep. Other than that, I guess the thing is a little costly, but it's worth it.

I wear it all the time and while I hope I don't have to use it very often, I occasionally do. Customer service is very adept and check into things if something happens. They're on it all the time, they've been very good at calling me back and checking on me to make sure I'm okay. A lot of times I call them before I realize that I've done it, that happened recently. They called and were very helpful and kind, they wanted to help and make sure that I knew what I was and wasn't doing and what I shouldn't do as well. I can't complain.

I needed help and that was the best value I could afford. I didn't really need it during the day and I used it mostly at night. I've used it a couple of times. I fell one time and I couldn't get up, so they came in a got me back up. They were very well mannered, prompt, and very caring. They asked question and answered mine. I was pleased. I feel much better knowing that I have help at my fingertips if I need it.

Fortunately I haven't had an emergency, but it's a comfort thing to know that it's there if I need it. I am here mostly alone but I have confidence knowing that if I need help, especially if I have fallen or something, I have them there. Every time I have to deal with someone is a pleasant experience. There's live people at the other end of the phone which is great to know that there's somebody actually there too hear my complains and act on it.

Medical Alert came into my life ever since my husband passed away and my family decided if I was gonna live alone, I had to add something for my own safety. Their representatives are very nice on the phone whenever I accidentally hit it. However, I had a bad experience with a representative; a lady called and wanted me to have insurance on it, I said I didn't need it. I was very upset about that, but she took those 120 dollars out of my account.

My daughter went through several inquiries to try and figure out the one that would be best for us. I always put it on as soon as I wake and get out of the bed, I wear it in the shower in the morning and I wear it all day long and take it off when I go to bed. Once I fell, but my daughter and son were here. They pressed the button and the paramedics came and took me to the hospital and it ended well.

They have proven to be prompt to reply when my unit is activated. I have had a couple of times when it registered a fall but I had dropped the unit as I was putting it on in the morning, I charge the unit every evening while I am sleepig. I am sure that if they respond to a non emergency call that they will be there if I should need really help,

I think Medical Alert's customer service is good. Sometimes it takes a while for them to come online when the alarm goes off, but they're very good with asking questions and making sure you're okay after that. So far, I liked using it. One thing I don't like is that sometimes it goes off when I don't want it to go off. Besides that, I do have to say that the cost went down. I appreciate that.

Our system went off one time, and the police and EMT broke into my house because nobody answered. I was in a hotel at that time, and they tracked me down to there. They did a great job tracking me down and calling all the numbers I provided. Plus, they nailed everything back into place, and did a great job with that as well. I'm just very pleased with it, and very happy that I have it. The people who answer the phone are very polite and very knowledgeable. I called for help once while I was away from home, and they still called my husband, just to let him know what had happened.

At first, the device was a little shaky, but it's come a long way. It's really good. I've had a couple problems, but we ironed them out and I'm very happy with Medical Alert. I don't know too many people that have Medical Alert, but I know my experience has been good. Whenever I call, they're there for me, and I don't know what I would do without them.

I have an extra $10 on my bill due to a phone call. the caller said there would be a follow up letter or email explaining why I needed to be billed the extra $10 per month but I never got a letter and now I don't remember what the extra money was for!

I assume your system is automatic as when I called to notify you that I was without electricity to charge my system and not to call my children, they were called and I was reminded during the night to charge my unit. This is very disturbing and I sincerely hope you are able to find a fix for that problem.

I know very little of other similar systems, but I find this one short on features. You cannot speak through the pendant, which causes me to hobble painfully through the house on a false alarm. They do, however, call before they dispatch emergency services, and I try to keep my cell phone on me or nearby at all times..

Not much help when there is a power outage. And the repition of "calling for help" gadget that does not respond but repeats its message every couple of minutes, with no response available, quite frustrating. Have haD FOR SEVERAL YEARS, VERY SATISFIED, BUT POWER OUTAGE WAS A NEW EXP[PERIENCE

Although we have not had an emergency we've had false alarms mistakenly set off and that in itself gives me confidence that my husband who had Alzheimers is in good hands with MedAlert.. They always have responded within a very short time, faster than I can pick up my phone and dial in. That's pretty quick!!!

Wearing the bracelet is conveniant, however, the new Fall alert device is bulky plus you've told me not to wear it to bed. The most likely time for me to fall would be getting out of the bed in the middle of the night when I'm still half asleep.

Sometimes the device calls for help for no apparent reason. This happened twice for me. Sometimes the device does not work when I test it for a fall. It doesn't seem to work on carpets and my home has wall to wall carpeting. Yet it called when it accidentally dropped from my hand about three inches on to my bed.

I would recommend Medical Alert; I think they're good and there for you in an emergency. When I test they call right back and they seem very efficient, I have never had to use it in an emergency but I test is every once in a while. Any time I ask a question, they seem to have the answers for me.

We had a problem before we got a new one because my husband would cross his arms and the device would go off and we had rescue people at the door and we didn't know what happened but we got a new one and the pendant around his neck so that hasn't happened again. They showed up at the door when it was a mistake so it works and that's what we want.

They have been helpful but it has been somewhat confusing and takes more time than I would expect to set it up and to troubleshoot it. I'm not sure how to change the battery on the component that the person wears. I'm alerted when the battery's dead so it seems like they're monitoring that so that part works.
