I do NOT recommend Life Alert! We got it when my mother first moved in with us, although she never used it. We got it because she would be alone while we were at work. However, soon after we hired a care giver to come in to stay with our mother while we were away. We attempted to cancel the Life Alert system since it was no longer needed but the company refused to cancel. We understand that the contract is for three years but since our mother's circumstances have changed, we feel that we should be able to cancel. Life Alert's contract is too long!

My mother was diagnosed with dementia, however somehow life alert signed her up on a 3 year contract for $70 a month, it gets worse, she did fall right next to the life alert and she was there until someone found her on the floor. She is now in a memory care facility - When we tried to cancel the life alert they stated she was in a 3 year contract and they are making it nearly impossible to cancel. DO NOT GET THIS DEVICE, this company is scamming senior citizens and they're not an ethical operation.

When I signed up for my uncle, my aunt was in a nursing home. We were tricked into adding her name to the account as well in case she needed help when she came home. Now that my uncle has died, they will not cancel because my aunt is still living and on the contract. SCAM SCAM SCAM and shame on them for ripping off seniors. When these snot nosed employees of the company reach their senior years I only hope they are treated as bad.

I called life alert to ask how much a cost for the service for my grandma and the customer service agent was extremely rude and wouldn’t let my mom talk and I asked how much it will cost anyone give it to me on the phone I called customer service sales rep to get details in the sales rep will not give us pricing and and for canceling any sort of pay for three years for cancellation fee I find that unacceptable for a company that does that help senior citizens out that is extremely rude and extremely And very bad for money

After over 3 years of being a client, upon having my mother having to go into hospice for her final days, I called life Alert to ask that the account be cancelled at months end. To which they replied that I had to have the care facility fax them on the care faculties letterhead that she was going into there facility. Even though they said I am month to month now and can cancel at anytime. I can not. $98.00 a month for over 3 years and they refuse to allow me to cancel!!

Life alert is in the business of senior abuse when selling their product with a contract to seniors who cannot afford their exorbitant prices. They told me that the only way for a senior to get out of the contract was to die. The senior who ordered it has dementia, they did not care. He is also on a fixed and very limiited income. They have no compassion.

I mistakenly called to request a brochure. I started receiving harassing phone calls not only to my home number, but also to my work number! I told them repeatedly I was not interested and do not call me back. Several weeks later, I received another phone call at work. So much for requesting some harmless information, turned into a stalking situation.

This is a terrible company. You cannot get out of the contract. When my mother accidently activated the button around her neck, it came on so loud and scared her to death. She was traumatized and refused to use it again. For 3 years we have been paying for it and it has not even been in her house. They do not care whether they help you or not, or whether you are happy with their service or not. Highly recommend you seek alternatives.

Life Alert is the classic model of fleecing the elderly with fine print and automatic deductions from the bank account. My father had Life Alert for almost 10 years, and recently went into a nursing home. Even after receiving a letter from the nursing home stating that my father had 24/7 nursing care, Life Alert refused to cancel the service without a $300 early cancel fee. I finally had to get my bank to stop all future payments to this unethical organization.

Ordered system, Life Alert sent a representative to help install equipment and it would not work properly, the representative took the equipment with her from my home but never returned it to the company, therefore my credit Card has been charged twice, once for 196.00$ and another 71.96.. life alert refuses to credit my account! WARNING DO NOT BUY THIS SYSTEM- we needed the system and were put on hold - called 911 and got immediate response and paramedics before they even came on the line. Worst system ever. Now that my parent is under 24 hour care they will not let us cancel the contract because family members are her care givers - what a rip off - they are taking advantage of our seniors/ still billing my parent for a system that is of no use to her.

I got the service for my elderly aunt because she was leaving on her own. Now not even a year later, her cancer has come back, and currently being treated, so therefor When she cane back from the hospital, I brought her to my home. She is going to have private duty nurses and 3 others that Medicare will provide. I called to cancel the service, and they told me that the contract is for 3 yrs and there is not a way to get out of it.

I want to cancel after a year and I am not allowed because of the contract. The worst! The contract said they would GPS CLIENTS ANYWHERE... SHOWING PEOPLE GOLFING,. WALKING.... ANYWHERE. When they reported my alert went off...they didn't do a GPS location and sent the FIRE DEPARTMENT...WHO BROKE DOWN MY DOOR...WHEN I WAS NOT HOME AND LEFT ME WITH 1,777.83 BILL TO REPLACE THE DOOR. THEY REFUSED TO PAY ANYTHING AND CONTINUE TO BILL ME...EVEN THOUGH THE DEVICE WAS SHUT OFF AND RETURN TO COMPANY.

My mother had life alert for 8 years at 89.00 a month. She used it three times. We now have 24 hour care and I have been unable to cancel it for 6 months and finally two months ago had it cancelled. Or so I thought! They have continued billing us. I am back in the loop trying to resolve the overpaid amount and AGAIN try to cancel and have them stop billing us!!!!!

Lock you into a three year contract and when it is up you have to provide reasons why you're cancelling. They do not respond on telephone to help. Put on hold over and over and then disconnected. I got fed up and pushed the alarm system and then I got to speak to customer service. If they won't respond in customer service press the alarm. When testing the alarm system which I did once in three years, they were very slow to respond. "We will be right with you, we will be right with you----------------------

My Aunt needed to cancel Life Alert because she went into the 24 hour nursing facility. As her closest relative, I began dealing with Life Alert on her behalf. From the beginning, they were unfriendly and unhelpful. I had to call several times to get the information I needed. I have read recent reviews of others having the same issues. Please don't ever use this company.

Life Alert is the worst. They bullied and pressured my 85 yr old mother into a premium package. It has taken a week and 6 or more phone calls to attempt to cancel the program. In calling you get shuffled around to departments and spend long periods of time on hold only to be cut off. They still sent the unit even after we were assured of a cancellation. A full three year contract is required and you must pay for the equipment. Life Alert is the worst!!!

I enrolled my 91 year old mother in Life Alert with the understanding that if she moved to a facility or in with me or passed away the enrollment and billing would stop. Sadly she died on October 2 and I notified the company right away and provided a death certificate as soon as I was able to get one. They billed me anyway on October 3 for an entire month! When I called to inquire they said the account was closed and they would not refund the $90.00. They were uncaring and greedy at a time of great sadness and loss. I am so frustrated. I need to cancel my contract but the buyout cost is over $1,000 which I can't do. I don't remember them telling me that this was a 3 year contract since I am elderly and would never sign a contract for 3 years. I want out but I have to provide them with either the money or a letter from a residential location where I may move in several months. This service is awful.

I called to ask for a brochure but instead I got a saleswoman who called and called and called again. They actually sent a man to install their unit before I had signed up for anything. It got so I actually hung up on the salesperson after the 4th day of her calling. She then called me back screaming into the phone about my hanging up. That did it. I signed up with Bay Medical and have never regretted it.

My father is 90 years old. Has had service for approximately 10 years. He is now in a nursing home. I tried to cancel services, they would not cancel because I am not near the Life Alert Unit. I live over 90 miles away from fathers old home. I cannot miss another day of work to drive over there during their hours to get a number off an old machine and call you. Turn it off, stop changing an old man for something that he is not using. I can mail it back to you if you want when I can get it. Really !!! Stop Scamming old people.

I was hoodwinked into committing to this. It interfered with my phone line. When I tried to cancel, they said I would be breaching the contract. I canceled the credit card it was billed to, so then they started sending me a bill . I refused to pay it, and I started getting phone calls and threatening letters. I ignored them. This went on for about 8 months and they finally gave up.

My Grandma has one & she fell (104 years old) The button did not work. Unbeknownst to anyone, you are supposed to call in once in awhile and do a check to see if it is working. That information would've been helpful at time of sale. Although, I do believe it was a bs story to cover their behinds. Don't even get me started on the secret contract that we found out about when trying to cancel after this issue. Invest in some Ethics Classes life alert!!

The lady told me that I could not cancel now because she had put me in a 3 year contact and she would not cancel it. She was very rude. My 3 year contract will be up April 2018 and I will not continue this lousy service from these rude people.

My mom had fallen and her Life Alert is suppose to sense that she is on the floor. Well....... It didn't, and her button around her neck did not work. I had to manually push the big ole button on the equipment y her phone to see if it even worked. It did but...... The call was dropped on Life Alert's end, and it took them forever to call her back. This is a real cause for concern. I will be talking to her to change who she uses. Life Alert is not reliable when they need to be!!!

Have used it. Have one. As far as am concerned, it is useless. (1) It is to costly for the one's who depend on it. (2) I disconnected mine. No one should have to have a contract. (3) What if you don't need it anymore? You are locked in a contract and have to continue to pay monthly until the contract is up. Someone is getting rich! (4) I will give you a example. When I would push the button, just to test, it takes more than 15 minutes to answer. I could have had a heart attack and died before they even got here!.

Yesterday I ordered Life Alert for my father. I didn't know about all the other companies out there. My father was upset with me for not doing more research before ordering. We found another company, Medical Guardian, which was rated #1 this year. They have lower rates, better equipment & better customer service. My father & I called Life Alert to cancel. The rep was so rude with us. He tried scaring & bullying my father to stay with them. Plus, he said they would charge him the $198 for the cancellation. This company is awful! Don't waste your money. Keep looking.

i was told i had a 3yr. contract which i have no memory or copy of. my card was compromized and the company could't access my account because of the new card issued. if i paid the 49.99 they were unable to collect, they would lower my fee to 39.99. i was told i could not cancel. i have never used the alert in over 2 years but i have tested it and it takes a long time for them to respond.

I called Life Alert for information and pricing. They are sending me a brochure. I said I wanted information "TODAY, as I am pricing medical alert systems. I was transferred to a sales representative. He gave a very long sales pitch, too much information. He did not give me pricing information until the end of his boring sales pitch. He asked me too many questions, which was very annoying. I just wanted pricing, not a sales pitch. He was also very pushy and I did not appreciate that. I will NOT consider Life Alert for my medical alert system.

On 2/5/16 My Mother was enrolled for for Life Alert . On 2/19/16 Janice cancelled the order at my request. On 4/11/16 Supervisor Rene told me they only provide refunds when the customer asks for it; he said the equip was received on 2/19, and he was going to release the refund of $125.96. On 6/30/16 (Over 80 days later) I was told they are waiting on a Supervisor to approve the refund. They refused to let me speak directly to a Supervisor or Senior Manager, would only take my name and send me to a voice mail.
