How Does the Process Work?

You no longer need to worry about scheduling time out of your busy routine to go to the orthodontist. Byte's clear aligner treatment can be completed anytime from the comfort of your home. Byte uses clear plastic device technology custom made to fit your teeth. These invisible teeth aligners will gradually move your teeth resulting in a straighter smile.

Getting started with Byte only takes a few minutes. You can first determine if you are a good candidate for invisible braces by taking Byte's online 30-second questionnaire. Keep in mind that Byte works best for those with minor to moderate alignment and bite issues. If you have major alignment issues or need to correct your bite, you may need in-person orthodontic treatment.

The second way Byte ensures that you are an eligible candidate is through an impression kit. After the impression kit is completed and sent back to the lab, you can approve treatment and wait to receive your custom aligner box. Take the Online Questionnaire

The online quiz will ask you a series of questions about your current teeth conditions such as spacing and crowding. The quiz takes less than a minute to complete. You will receive your results by email.

Complete the Impression Kit

Start by mixing the molding putty and placing it into the impression tray to create impressions of your teeth. Repeat this step four times until you have two impressions of the top and two impressions of the bottom. Once you're finished creating your molds, send the teeth impressions back to Byte in the prepaid shipping box. You'll also need to take pictures with the smile stretcher to help Byte's professional team determine if you're eligible for invisible braces.

Byte teeth aligners are designed to help people who need minor to moderate alignments. If you have crooked teeth, crowded teeth, or simply need a minor bite correction, Byte is an excellent option to get straight teeth.

If you're not a candidate for Byte, the company will refund you the full price of the Byte impression kit.

Approve Your Byte Treatment Plan

Molds are used to generate an interactive 3D model of what your teeth look like and what they will look like after treatment. Byte will then determine if you're a good candidate for clear aligners.

The Byte team will also look at your pictures to decide on a plan that matches your facial structure. Byte evaluates your facial structure to help create your smile plan, using Smile Science. This is a detailed system created by Dr. Marashi who has worked with several well-known Hollywood stars. The Smile Science aims to ensure your smile looks symmetrical in comparison to your face.

You'll have a chance to review the customized treatment plan and respond with any questions you may have.

Follow Your Aligner Plan

Customers who are approved for treatment will receive their Byte clear aligners a few weeks later. Byte's aligners are made of a highly transparent, high quality, polymer film. Byte even boasts that its aligners are high impact and tear-resistant.

Each aligner set comes with a designated number to indicate the sequence of use. Start with step number one and continue to change out your aligners every week, unless otherwise directed. Use of the HyperByte for five minutes daily during treatment is recommended.

Hold onto all of your past aligners steps just in case you need to return to a previous week.

Wear Your Retainers

Continue to wear your last step until you receive your retainers in the mail. Byte includes a free pair of retainers with the purchase of an aligner kit. Byte recommends that you wear your retainers for 22 hours a day for the first few weeks. Then you can transition to wearing them just during the night.

You can expect to wear your post treatment retainers as long as you want to maintain your straight smile, that means the rest of your life if you want lifetime results. You can purchase additional retainers through the Byte website every six months.

Byte offers its standard all-day aligner packet for those who don't mind wearing aligners during the day. The All-Day Aligners must be worn for at least 22 hours a day ― only being taken out to brush, floss, or eat. This option provides the shortest treatment time available. Customers who choose the all-day aligners can expect a 4-month treatment plan (based on average initial treatment plans for all-day aligners excluding adjustments; individual results will vary). The HyperByte technology may help speed up orthodontic tooth movement.*

The All-Day Aligners cost $1,895 with a single payment. You can also choose to finance the purchase for $82 per month for 32 months (after a $249 deposit).

Byte at Night ($2,295 or $99 per Month for 32 Months + $299 Down Payment)

Byte now offers a treatment plan in which customers only need to wear their aligners at night. This is a notable and exciting offering, as many consumers don't love having to wear their aligners throughout the day, including having to take them out and clean them anytime they eat or drink anything besides water.

These at-night aligners are made with a grind resistant polymer material and are slightly thicker than Byte's day-wear aligners. Consumers who go with this Byte-at-Night option will need to wear their nighttime aligners a minimum of 10 continuous hours per day. This treatment plan also takes longer on average to complete compared to the all-day aligner plan. If you have a more moderate case of misalignment, you may not qualify for Byte at Night.

The at-night treatment plan is also slightly more expensive, costing a single payment of $2,295, or $99 per month for 32 months (after a $299 down payment) if doing a monthly payment plan.

HyperByte Tool (Included in the Aligner Treatment)

The main thing that makes Byte stand out from the competition is its use of a device called the HyperByte. This device comes included with every plan purchase.

The HyperByte is a device that uses high frequency vibration (HFV) technology. Byte's exclusive HyperByte device may help to quicken orthodontic tooth movement and ease discomfort when used 5 minutes per day during aligner treatment.*

Customers who purchase an aligner kit can add a Byte Protection Plan™ to their treatment. This offers additional financial protection in the event that you lose or break an aligner. If you have the protection plan, you will not be charged for a replacement aligner (up to $2,000 in value). You will also receive a new retainer every six months for the next five years. The Byte Protection Plan™ costs $649 for all-day aligners and $779 for at-night aligners.

Retainers (First Pair Free + $129 per Replacement Pair)

Very few invisible aligner providers include the value that Byte does. Byte offers a free pair of retainers to customers.

If you decide to use Byte retainers, you should plan on spending money to upkeep your smile. You'll need to replace your retainers at least once a year to maintain your Byte for Life guarantee. A set of Byte Retainers cost $129.

You may want to look into other retainer alternatives or budget for new retainers every year. This may be an unexpected cost for some.

Whitening and Cleaning Solution (Free with Kit)

Byte also includes a bottle of BrightByte 3-in-1 premium teeth whitening foam, breath freshener, and teeth aligner cleaner for free. Because teeth alignment requires customers to wear aligners all day, Byte wants to help customers have a whiter, brighter smile at the same time.

Byte recommends cleaning the aligners immediately after taking them out to prevent them from looking cloudy or discolored. However, Byte advises customers to clean the aligners with the BrightByte whitening gel that acts as a teeth whitener/foam cleanser and not to use other whitening products as they can damage the aligners.

Replacement Equipment (Varies)

Besides purchasing a treatment kit, you can also shop for replacement equipment on Byteme.com if you misplace or run out of a certain product. You can purchase more BrightByte for $20 if you run out during treatment. You can also buy other accessories such as the aligner case, HyperByte replacement mouthpiece, a HyperByte charger, the HyperByte, and extraction tool. All of this equipment is provided in your aligner kit. You can also buy retainer replacements that last about six months.

Average Treatment Plans

Though the duration of treatment will vary case-by-case depending on several factors, including the extent of the individual customer's alignment needs, Byte's teeth-straightening programs are remarkably quick. Based on its website, its average treatment plans, excluding adjustments, are between 4-5 months.

Consumers will of course need to follow Byte's recommended guidelines:

  • Wear the Byte invisible aligners as much as possible, only taking them out to eat or drink
  • Use the aligners on both the lower and upper teeth
  • Order replacement aligners immediately if one gets lost or damaged
  • Switch aligners every week

Paying for Treatment

Byte has a few different payment options. Customers can pay the full cost upfront or they can choose a monthly financing option through Bytepay™, Byte's 100 percent guaranteed approval rate payment plan with no credit checks. The contract length for Bytepay™ is 32 months.

Unlike several other invisible aligner companies, Byte offers multiple financing options to help get the best possible monthly payment. Or customers can finance their invisible aligners through Byte's financing partner, Affirm. Byte accepts all major debit and credit cards including Care Credit.

Guarantees

Byte has a satisfaction guarantee for those who complete their entire treatment. In order to qualify for this guarantee, you must keep all your aligners, wear your aligners as directed, use the HyperByte daily, and upload photos as prompted by your account. If you aren't satisfied with your treatment results, you can submit a request for the Byte team to reevaluate your results. The team may approve additional aligners at no additional cost.

Byte also guarantees your smile with the Byte for Life guarantee. That means that if your teeth move out of alignment after going through the Byte treatment, Byte will cover the cost to straighten them.

However, you should read over the guarantee fine print before starting your treatment process. You must wear your retainers as directed and replace them as needed. Byte does not cover teeth affected by outside circumstances or that have had significant dental or orthodontic work.

I tried SDC and failed with it because their customer service was terrible and the retainers were so thick, painful and the treatment was over a year to complete. The beginning was easier to adjust to but the fit as I went along became a problem. The aligners later in the pack were tough in the backeven after filing causing cuts to my tongue so I started to wear them only at night. This has obviously delayed the process which I'm ok with. They didn't send me my full set originally and the additional liners don't fit as well and take a few days to get used to. My teeth are getting straighter so that's a plus.

They were great and got my teeth looking so much better! I loved the hyperbyte and how the treatment went. My only complaint is that the initial timing was wrong and wouldn't have left my teeth straight. It took weeks of going through customer service for them to look at my case and reassess and then I had an additional 12 weeks of treatment. I wish things were a bit clearer as well. Sometimes you have to dig around the site to find the correct article in order to understand how things work. But the customer service reps I've talked to are very nice and I did like the company and am glad I went with them.

It was so easy to use! I had Invisalign many years ago. I had to go to the dentist every two weeks. They tell you to wear your last one as a retainer. But I didn't after awhile because it got gross. I chose Byte because I wanted to try and fix my crooked lower teeth but I didn't want to spend a lot of money to do it. The onboarding process was easy, and I liked the digital creation of what my teeth will look like through the treatment cycle. The aligners themselves have worked, though I have not quite finished my treatment (I am taking longer then expected because I'm not wearing them as much as I'm supposed to, which is totally my fault) . However, the biggest area that Byte should change is communication. I understand that there are significant legal issues with giving advice, Etc, but getting a somewhat straight answer or even a "we cannot answer that, you should ask your dentist" would go a long way. Responses also took a long time.

system is not bad however there is no one monitoring your progress unless you submit an appointment with an issue. the photos you upload are not looked at. do yourself a favor and join the facebook group as you will learn more there than with resources from Byte. once they get your payment is it very difficult to reach them. and make sure you do the insurance or you are wasting your money. that said, I am almost done and happy with the progress. it did take more than twice as long, as i moved too quickly and did not realize no one was monitoring the photos sent in. like i said, join the facebook group and you will learn all the mistakes of others for a more swift program.

I liked the process and the way my teeth have began to shift to get rid of my little gaps - my only issue was the customer service part. I noticed that in the end I still have a sizeable gap near my bottom canines - i contacted then and asked what could be done since I had just dropped $3,000+ on these braces. I paid it all off within 3-4 months and since they had all my money, they said SORRY! But you approved the payments for them so you are SOL :-/ I was pretty angry at first and am still not happy about the end result, especially since I went on this journey to build my confidence and find happiness in my smile. I would pay for a set of braces that could remove these gaps - im sure it would be a set of 3 or 6 of them. But they told me I had to pay them for another entire treatment, which would leave me in the red for about $6,000+.

Everything's been really easy and the results are going great. My only annoyance is the respond time to emails. I couldn't get my next shipment of trays till they approved the for of my current ones and it would take them a week to respond to emails so each set required an additional week of waiting before moving forward. Byte needs to be more descriptive of the process. You throw a box of aligners at us and we're basically flying blind with what to do. Definitely need to be way more informative about the process of the aligners and when it's the right time to move to the next set. I followed the very basic instructions and changed my aligners out every 7 days, not knowing I was nowhere near ready for a change out!!! Be up front with people and let them know they may need to wear their aligners anywhere from 1-4 weeks at a time. And make sure people know what to look for to know if it's time to move to the next set of aligners

I went through Byte for aligners for my son.The aligners really are invisible ! They are comfortable and easy to remove or put back in. He has experienced very minimal discomfort. But the big draw is the companies communications and support. The process itself is pretty straightforward and has for the most part worked as advertised. I did however have to get a procedure done that they believed was causing my gap to reappear minutes after the retainers were taken off. $800 later the issue wasn’t resolved and their recommendation is a permanent retainer placement. I would have preferred that recommendation in the first place as it is less expensive and a sure thing. I feel like I wasted $800. I do like my new smile though.

The people I spoke to were nice enough and customer focused, but many were not well trained well. There were catch phases that they were taught, such as "there were air pockets, it happens" . They all used the same words, but couldn't articulate any insight. The insurance department messed up with their assessment if my insurance company would pay for the services. When I inquired about the problem, they went dark for several months. Later, after I called 2 or 3 times to humans, they responded. They made a mistake, and my insurance company would not pay. Byte then credited me this money (which was quite nice). But despite this, I should not had to work so hard to address the issue. No one called me back and I had to keep on calling. The biggest challenge with your service is that it doesn't work very well. I makes your teeth straighter, but not remotely straight. The view finder you provide is not accurate.

Issues with fit and effectiveness of aligners. My treatment program was supposed to be about 5 months and is still in progress after 10 months; due to refinement aligners supplied without doing another impression kit; refinement aligners not working after a few weeks but having to continue through full set of problematic aligners before I could get another set made. Third set of bottom aligners finally seems to be working but still have 5 more weeks to go.

Byte aligners are a great concept and kind of work, however it doesn't seem I'm achieving results as planned for. My teeth have been corrected a bit, but are nowhere near the perfect smile I hope to have. They have been helpful in sending me refinement aligners and responding to concerns however. My teeth are not bad, just a bit crowded in the bottom row as the retainer I had after years of braces didn't seem to keep its form. I still hope to achieve the smile I hope for with Byte.

While my teeth are certainly more straight, there have been multiple issues with the process. First, my results are not what I wanted. I said in the initial form that I wanted my teeth to be flat. They are not. One tooth sticks up quite clearly. We have spent an extra 2 months trying to fix the issue but it is still not resolved. Second, I picked Byte because of good reviews for personal, efficient customer service. My experience has not lived up to that. I have had to email multiple times and call in order to get a good response. Too much of their process is automated and several times I've gotten incorrect, form emails. I've spent hours trying to get things addressed. It's absolutely unhelpful to have a process like that. Third, my process has taken nearly 3 times as long as it was supposed to. It is also much more difficult to get 22 hours a day and to keep the retainers clean. They provided one month of retainer cleaner for what's now a 9-month process. The retainers get gross, even with proper care and meticulous cleaning. I would not recommend this company until they make some changes, including updating their customer service to be less automated and including cleaner in the package.

The initial set up was easy with good costumer service. I think the timeline is very misleading. I've had to wear my aligners for months at a time. Also I'm at the end of my treatment and my teeth are not how I was hoping they'd be. I still have some crowding and it created a few new issues as well. It would be nice if there was an office to be seen for these type of problems. Overall it has definitely worked just not to the standard I was hoping.

Thier response time was problematic. At the end of my treatment, I had to wait six weeks for my final retainer. During the wait time, one of my aligners ripped and I had to go back to a previous set. By the time I received the retainer my teeth had moved significantly. I am still wearing my retainer after two weeks and my teeth are still not where they should be at the end of my treatment.

Struggles with many steps: impression issues, not receiving straight feedback when aligners weren't progressing (conflicting responses from various Byte resources), inability to get the rest of my aligners shipped to me when asked (they cancelled original order and it took 3 more months to receive), timing not aligned with expectation even though I've followed appropriate steps. It's also my fault I wasn't consistent with Byte, i wasn't doing the 22 hours of wearing after a month and it's taken me maybe a year. I did however did want a few of my "carnivore teeth" to lower bc some of them are more out then my normal teeth, and i thought Byte was going to help with that but I guess it didn't with the aligners. My teeth also don't feel completely straight like when I had actual braces, but then again that can be my fault too.

My teeth are getting straighter, so it works to some degree. Progress is over 2x slower: original prediction was 6 months, and it's been 1 year with probably another 4 months to go. When things didn't go accordingly, customer service is slow to set things right and lots of delays processing materials. Customer service is friendly. Compan offers incentives to leave reviews that forbids receiving incentives. I'm currently waiting to finish my treatment before updating various reviews. Stay tuned.

This was a very affordable treatment and it improved the issue I was looking to resolve, however, the treatment caused some bone loss in my front teeth and my dentist had to sand them down a little to correct the hard bite so they wouldn't become too mobile. If I had to do it again, I would probably choose to go to an orthodontist so they could check the bite and the progress regularly.

I went into this really excited not to have braces again (I had them as a teenager but never wore my retainers). However, I think the company gave me unrealistic expectations about how long it would take for my treatment plan. Obviously they do not know when they initially fit you how slow/fast your teeth will move, but I would hope they would have given me a better timeline considering how crooked my bottom teeth were.

When aligners don't fit right or you have problems they make you take photos, fill out questionnaires, lose progress by not wearing them etc. All in an attempt to not have to send you a new set that work better for you. Treatment has taken 6-8 months longer than promised. The inability to visit an orthodontist or do any evaluations in person is not the best idea; my teeth didn't track correctly and this wasn't caught. I'm now on my third full set of aligners after having to do three home impression kits. Candid and other companies do a digital scan which is much more accurate.

Customer service is very slow to respond. Each time I had a problem, I sent an email. Then I had to wait for almost a week for any response. Even though I sent pictures of my issues in the email, I had to fill out a form and add the pictures to the form. I wasn't able to access the form until the link was sent to me. I had holes in my aligners and it took 3 weeks to get the form submitted!

Mostly good experience but no real retainers. I want metal retainers and honestly would not have gone through with it if I had known. Also it really messed up my jaw alignment and I now have to go to physical therapy for it. I did reach out early on about this issue and I was only told to stop using the vibrating mouth thing.

Overall, not a great experience. Very little communication for them and when I would reach out, it would be days before anyone would contact me. If they did at all. Still not my best experience with Byte because they won’t give me my money back. However, the last review that I did, they contacted me to see what was going on. I have a huge gap between my teeth because my adult tooth grew incorrectly so the aligners aren’t helping with that, and Byte said I may need to go to a dentist to get the excess gum cut out. I don’t have dental insurance so that’s not going to happen anytime soon, which means my aligners aren’t working at all. I kind of wish that they would mention to their customers before they go through with the process of getting aligners that if they have a huge gap, it might not get fixed. I just hate how I’m essentially wasting my money for the aligners that don’t work, but it’s nice to know that this will be something that I won’t ever get again/tell people to get it.

I was skeptical about the Byte system at first but was surprised that the liners were such good quality and fit very well. My top teeth were not moving per the treatment plan. I expressed my concern at 6 mos . Was asked to send all angles of photos and explain the issue. 6 weeks later , I finally get what I think will be new top aligners to fix the problem. They did not. In fact I was sent only 3 new aligners for the top that none felt any different than what I had been wearing for the last 6 weeks. Once again, had to express my dissatisfaction, had to complete another evaluation, and send more photos . As if they keep no records on your progress. Now after another 6 weeks in the same top aligner (#29) and still no movement) byte has manufactured new top and bottom aligners that I should have in 2 weeks. It has been very frustrating. The cleaning foam is $30 and you will need a bottle per month .

Byte has really helped improve my smile. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because it took much longer than anticipated and I think it's because the trays were not proper fitted. I have recommended Byte to other however, mostly due to the reasonable cost vs effectiveness and the customer service.
