First American Home Warranty Reviews

It was so easy to apply I haven’t had an opportunity to use them yet but have confidence in this company

I New, first American had a Great Reputation. I have confirmed this time of the time. I will never change.

The gentleman that came to rekey my condo. On time, very knowledgeable and got it done in a timely manner

I have been a customer for many years and I have never had a problem with them always reliable and dependable

We have had First American for over 13 years. Overall not the best but doable. We had issues with our heater last year that took longer than it should have for repairs, but thankfully, we had another heater and fireplace that helped. However, our pool pump has been out since May 28th. It was approved on May 4th to repair the pump. Viscos was supposed to come out and replace it…after several days they said they they were picking up the part and would come over. We get a text saying that the part wasn’t in, it was in transit. First American told us the part was there but they could’ve reach Viscos…several days later they are saying the same thing. Over 6 weeks! This is not acceptable and I am saying this in proper terms..not what. Be aware of First American!!!!

We bought this warranty with our house last year and it has been an excellent service. Fast, friendly, and worth every penny.

Not had to use First Am Home Warranty yet, hopefully not really needing anything, but knowing it is there is comforting.

I chose First American Home Warranty because my son referred me. He said the service is quick, if the machine can’t be repaired. It’s replac

HIgh inncreases, retired and finding it a struggle to keep up with your annual increase, after 20 year with your company I may have to terminate.

Iam very happy with america first warranty because they have a great customer service and always taking care of any problem promptly

I would like the option to speak with a representative before I pay $95 for a service call. some parts of the policy that explains coverage is very vague....How do I reach someone live to speak with

I can't give feed back as haven't needed to use this service. I have recommended to my sister. That is reason I didn't give a 5 star. The 4 star is based on the help I received signing up.

Easy to request services online at any time. The majority of their contractors are well versed in their various trades and are local, so repairs are usually fast.

The gentlemen we were speaking to, George, was not able to address our questions or concerns and when he went to validate my concerns he agreed he gave us incorrect information. I asked him to escalate this to someone who could address our concerns more knowledgeably, he wouldn't saying that the information he gave us was correct. At this point we most likely will not be renewing our warranty because we don't understand the coverage.

Automatic system is easy to use. I have had quick responses to my requests. I don’t like when my requests are assigned to out of town business. I would prefer that request stay in the Bakersfield area, if all possible.

I like the prompt attention to any issue we have. Customer service has sometimes taken its toll for replacement but this service has always kept us informed

I had to have a service call for the built in microwave that stopped working. I was very pleased with the outcome. I only had to pay the $85 service fee.

They have been very integrous unlike 2 former companies I had. Service is quick and fair. Techs are knowledgeable and polite. I've never been disappointed. Janice Chase

down and started leaking water. Upon realizing this we dialed first america to file a claim. They assigned us a specialist technician and sent him to check our water heater. The technician arrives and only checks from the garage, he never enters the house. The next day the technician gave an estimate of approximately 500 dollars for modifications to the installation of the new water heater. Upon receiving this information we called First America and I told them to appoint another technician because the other one, since he arrived, saw the opportunity to do business with supposed modifications for the installation of the new water heater, which were correct and not modification was necessary. They told me that they could not assign another technician as that was the assigned technician. I told him that I was not comfortable with the technician that we felt that he saw the Opportunity to get some extra money, since we only wanted to repair the boiler which he didn't even check, there was no reason to make modifications. Then I ask them to change the technician and they tell me no, that that was my assigned contractor and that there was no way to change it and they tell me that there are two ways: or two options: One option is: we hire our own contractor with a license and invoice and registration and send them the invoice and they will send us a part of the invoice that we pay. And when everything is done they occupied that invoice To cover the new equipment in the future under the same policy. The other option was for them to They sent a check with what First America pays for that repair. And I told them that allows me to consult it With my husband and let him make the decision. During this process the days passed until reaching two weeks without water Heater. I called them back and I explain again and I tell them again that I am still struggling and they still did not solve me the problem with the water heater and insisted that I had to pay the technician the money for the Modifications or grab a cashier's check for what they paid for that repair. Because of the failure with the water heater, we had no shower on the top tier, no washing machine, no dishwasher. After all this stress generated I spoke to them again and they told me to hire my own technician. And what Send the invoice and let me They will pay part of the bill, not the 100 Percent but Probable more than Half. That's what I did, that same day they told me that, I spoke to the Company that originally installed the boiler and they immediately came, inspected and changed the water heater without any modifications to the house. Charging me 550 for the unit change, which had an active warranty with the factory. And from which I later found out that the First America technician had already done the process to make the unit change and I found out through a First America agent. As I followed the Instruction, I sent the invoice and in exchange I received a check for a fabulous 40 dollars. They call me and tell me that they closed my case, that since I did not agree to pay the technician for the modifications that he wanted to make because he did not need them, they took the Cashier check option to finalize and conclude my case. So obviously I was upset when I received the check for 40 dollars and I complained to them about what one of their employees said that they would pay me more than half the amount. It cost and this turned out, and they told me that everything had been done under contract that I should have read the smaller letters in the contract and that if the equipment has a warranty from the manufacturer, First America does not cover it. Although the seller of My house opted to get a premium warranty with first American being the most complete package they have. Then I answer the Woman who answered my call and I then told her that the First America warranty does not work for me, because in my new house I installed all new appliances and that I wanted to cancel the warranty and get my money back. What were they paid to grab? a new warranty for home. And she tells me that they cannot return 100 percent that I have to pay a penalty for canceling and I told her three weeks ago we bought the house, not even a month has passed and I already have problems with you And that the penalty that I They charged for filing a claim and not for canceling the contract and I told them that I was canceling because they did not comply with the service. After 4 years of being clients in various houses. And she said that she was sorry that there was a claim and that she was going to charge me the penalty and collect the money for monthly payments for canceling. That is to say, after more than three years of being their clients in different houses and on this occasion where it is their turn Solve a problem which they did not do, it turns out that everything gets complicated and that under those conditions I could cancel and then I told him that he came The boiler company Li——-and they came and me They installed it without any problem, they did the Change of equipment On the other hand, without modifications, without changes or adaptations, because the facilities They did not occupy any modification, which was where the problem began and she answers me, and She said that neither she nor I were technicians, that's what specialists were for, and that she fully trusted her technicians. I told him that I trust the technicians of the Company li—- and I asked her if for her I was a liar and that she didn't know if I was lying or not, but that they based it on her techniques and then I told her I said that there was the problem in that they did not give the client their place. And then I asked if that was what the 40 Dollars covered and she She tells me that it is the payment to the technician based on a tabulator that they have. I said that was where she had the problem. Because the technician came with the First America clients and they wanted to get the Payment from them at the expense of her clients. Because 40 dollars, to where I live, they don't even pay the gas to the technician for the Service. So they without me make a decision They sent a cashier's check for 40 dollars, which was the amount they paid for the technician. It should be noted that at the outset we made the payment of 85 dollars for the initial claim and we sent them the invoice for what we paid and they sent us a check for 40 dollars. It's seriously First America.

It takes a minute to get someone and you have to have patience with the process, but First American Home Warranty has been there for me so far. Contractors have been very supportive, too.

I have not been very complimentary for i have not received any official word from First American staff. The mishandled my email and i cannot access my email. All my correspondence has been through the contractor. I don't think that is a good business practice.

HELLO!!! YOU REPLACED OUR DEAD MICROWAVE OVEN WITH A NEW MODEL THAT WE CANNOT OPEN THE DOOR [ BECAUSE OF POOR DESIGNING]!!! THANKS AND JESUS LOVES YOU!!!

Overall the warranty company has been worth the money. I've had two appliances replaced and the one year I let part of the policy lapse I regretted that decision.

I notified the plumber with Jerry's Plumbing on Saturday morning. No calls back Saturday, Sunday, or Monday. I called on Monday morning and told them I had water on my closet floor. He did nothing about it. There was water on the corners of the cabinet under my sink in two cabinets. There wasn't water under the sink in the bathroom. He did nothing about it. I had to hire another plumber from JES Plumbing. He took a 4x4 foot piece of drywall off behind the sinks in the bathroom. When the faucet was turned on, water shot out into the closet and soaked my carpet. That plumber repaired the drain pipe to stop the water. I dried the carpet all day and night with fans in the closet. I used chlorox water to kill the mildew. That cost me $450.00. Then I had to call another person to put the drywall back. He cut it to 4x8 foot to get rid of all the mildew and wet drywall. He inserted new drywall in the closet and I dried out the carpet with fans. The carpet has stains on it from the Christmas boxes I had stored there. The boxes were soaked with water. Everything is dry now, but now I have to get someone to finish the drywall with texture and paint. Your company charged me $85.00 for the first plumber who did nothing. The second plumber charged me $450.00 and the person that put in new drywall on the wall backing the bathroom sink was $300.00. Now I have to get someone to texture the wall and paint it. I don't know how much that will be. $85.00 plus $450.00 plus $300.00 and I don't know how much it will be to finish it with texture and paint. Since the first plumber did not call me back on Saturday, my daughter and I missed a Christmas program we were supposed to be at. I would NEVER recommend Jerry's Plumbing to ANYONE!!! I am now out $835.00 plus I still have to hire someone to finish it. Are you going to reimburse me for all of this? Your Home Warranty means nothing!!!!!

I had problems with my ice maker and they couldn't get a repairman for a couple weeks and there was an upcoming birthday party I was going to have. Another time I had an electrical problem and they couldn't get an electrician, I had to contact one myself. I pay my premiums every month and I have problems like that.

I haven't had the opportunity to work specifically with FAHW, but members of my family have done so, and their experiences have been great! So, I trust them.

Horrible experiences when I have to get permission for an outside contractor when. They don't have a contractor in my area that works with them. Enormous amount of time to wait to get permission. Took over 10 hours to get this permission and all the while I had raw sewage in my home that we had to endure.

They are immediately responsive, get right to helping solve the problem. All workers they have sent have been professional and capable of fixing issues quickly.

They don't make sense. Their contractors make up stories to get our claim denied on purpose, so they they can take the business away to make their own money, and this Home Warranty community let them do that. By this kind of contracted relationship, home warranty company doesn't have to pay for any repairs whenever possible but still collect yearly premiums. AND, you can't cancel your policy in the middle of the "term". So as consumers, we lose twice: $85 copayment for each claim ( without getting proper service ) and the whole year premium. You are pretty much stuck with them.

Great service at a great price. I recommend this company to anyone buying a home in America. More than likely, someone used duct tape to fix something.

Your Representative, Stephanie J, is what makes it over and above the rest. She helps out with any issues that happen. That is what makes it great for myself and my clients.

We have called at least 6 times about our toilet stopping up. They come out and clear it and say it's fixed, but it obviously isn't fixed. It only works for a few days then it stops back up. Two of the plumbers they sent have said we need a new high volume toilet, but they don't get us one. I feel like we have been misled. You are not replacing the toilet that clearly is not fixed.

I am completing this survey a little late. I put in a request for my air conditioner on 9/15/22 and as of today (10/14/22) it has not been resolved . I live in the desert were temperatures reach 80-90 daily. Thank goodness during this time the weather has been mild. I must still however open all my windows and doors at nigh to get the cooler breeze. Awaiting closure

They are quick to respond to my requests for service. They are very professional in the manner in which they behave in terms of attitude and behavior.

I've utilized the service only once but they were helpful. My only objection was the long wait for the service call. They need to have more companies available for services.

I am always able to book an appointment for repairs as needed. And I am able to communicate with a rep named Karina Joseph who always helps me with any issues.

I had an issue with my dishwasher and called First American and they were scheduling a visit when I was walked through how to fix it . Saved me money.

Company they hired for pool issues is not knowledgeable, provides different reasons for problem which results in claim denial and removal from coverage and has very poor reviews as a company. Appears as though this company was hired for the sole purpose to prevent FAHW to cover a claim.

You're always there for my family. The companies you send to fix my problem are great. I don't have to wait weeks to get great service on my issue. Thank you very much.

In 15 yrs of First American Warranty coverage, I have never had a repair declined or replacement declined. They fix it or replace it if it cannot be fixed.

I haven't been impressed with the plumbers you send out. One replaced my kitchen faucet with a mediocre one, one ranted about the uselessness of garbage disposals and how we shouldn't use them even though we have themI just question their honesty and business practices.

My experience with the contractors from First American Home Warranty is mixed. My last request with STREET PLUMBING AND ROOTER. Their call is super hard to connect through. There were times the worker they sent trying to reach to me and I missed the call, but immediately call back to their number (every communication is through one number) but couldn't get through. Eventually the worker couldn't enter my home and we missed the appointment. Ever since then I was trying to call their service number to setup another appointment, and haven't got connected successfully.

Sometimes i get contractors that service my home & do not follow through snd first American will make contact with them to make sure they follow through.

I had an issue with my AC unit and did not get any help within a 24 hour period and was later told after, having had the issue taken care of that I had to have an authorization. Not able to speak to a person until two days later. the issue

It wasn't really First American that we had the issue with. The company they contracted out with closed out claim and I was notified. Went months without a stove. Our stove has been replaced now and all is good.

Had ice cube maker service, paid the technician $85.00 - then First American Home Warranty billed me for this amount. I had to prove that it had been paid, felt like I was on trial. Your technician works for you, I can hire anybody to issue a Home Warranty. I have only used you guys TWICE - and my second time was a real doozy. I think I should be compensated with a free something or another. An apology just doesn't cut it!!

I've had a couple things repaired in a timely matter. Before the contractors that were doing the work were not very attentive on some things that matter to me. But it seems like you all have some better contractors

The technician Luigi was amazing knowledgeable guy. We are very pleased with his service. The arrival time changed so many times and we had to be prepared for up coming changes

Perfect most of the time, a little disappoint recently with water heater experience. Two hoses were corroded, one replaced and the other not because one leaked and the other was just very rusty, this is an insane policy.

Expensive. Only had to use them once. Came fast fix immediately, man was great, respectful, etc. Plus this is the first company we have worked with and it's been pleasant.
