The first time I had to get CHW was for my dishwasher not working. Very frustrating and bad experience! They didn’t communicate well with me or the technician. I had to wait a long time and had to keep calling. They finally got the diagnosis and said it wasn’t worth repairing and that they would replace it. I purchased and had a new one delivered to me. When I had called CHW they told me that I had to find someone else to install it. They had never clarified this to me or let me know in anyway at all!!! Why do I need a warranty company if they can’t do the job!!! We had another problem with heating shortly after that and all in all that problem was taken care of properly in a timely manner!

This warranty company appears to cover a lot of things others don't - great. But the one time I've tried to use it (in the four years I've had the policy) - for my HVAC, they didn't cover the particular problem. Well, I can understand that - the policy has exclusions, okay. But they why am I paying so much for something I'm never going to use? So I call to cancel (in November) and they say, "why don't we cover you for free for a couple of months, to get you through the holidays?" Okay. So, I'm getting billed again and I call and tell them I want to cancel. They don't refund the amount I just got billed for (five days ago), or even a prorated amount, and then they tell me that if I cancel the cancellation is effective immediately. So the amount I already paid for they take, but I lose what I paid for! So now I need to schedule a time to call right before they bill me again. Horrible customer service, all around. Stay away, unless you are the type that likes timeshares and snake oil. UPDATE: Apparently they CAN refund the money and cancel the service. So, they did so, and I have updated my review to 3 stars.

I just had an experience with a problem with the electric cooktop. It was reported on 1/3/2023. After numerous appliance tech went to the property with not anything being fixed and poor communications as to why it was taking so long. In March Choice decided that they would just pay out the cost of a cooktop as they said that they were having a hard time locating the parts and are still blaming COVID for the problem. The pay out was good for them, but not the homeowner as they put the responsibility on the homeowner to find a cooktop with correct measurement and then have to hire someone to install the unit. The cost is higher than what Choice is paying the homeowner to replace the item. My understanding that they would replace it and pay for the unit and installation according to the warranty, but obviously in fine print they can opt to do the pay out. No what I signed up for as I thought the warranty would take care of it and now as a homeowner I am having to find time in my schedule to find a replacement and hire someone to install it. It took them 2 months to come the that conclusion.

Electric clothes dryer did not heat took 1 week to have their service person come to determine the problem and he found another problem needed to be addressed (electrical) was not providing proper voltage to create heat. this took another week for their electrician to come out and replace a circuit breaker. The electrician traveled 90 miles to make a service call when I was assured at the time of purchased that they had hundreds of service personnel in my metro area to handle all types of situations. The problem did get fixed after waiting a total of 15 or 16 days from when first reported. (had a grandchild and 2 great grandchildren with us at the time).

I requested service on my washer. Technician came out, diagnosed problem and ordered parts. Tech came back and installed parts...not working properly. Technician came back and did further work. Did not completely solve the problem. I requested another service call with a 'different' technician (in agreement with initial technician) BUT they rescheduled the same person. When he determined he was re-scheduled, in spite of my/our request, he contacted company and service now delayed from Friday until Monday.

I’m awaiting the giftcard from Lowe’s. Choice advertising says if it can’t be repaired Choice will replace it. Replacing the washer doesn’t mean one for half of what we paid but that’s how Choice sees it. We will continue to take the buyout at both of our homes until our 6 yr contract expires then we will not renew. But I have to admit the process so far has been much quicker. We’ll see how long it takes for the gift card to show up.

The serviceman who fixed our clothes washer did a good job & knows what he was doing even though & found the problem. Since the first visit did not fixed the first time, he has to order a replacement parts & in 2 days he was able to get it & install it. Now our washer is working fine.

I'm concerned about the service fee, which was $10 more than the original price of $75. We weren't informed that the price would increase, and that's unsettling. Another issue is that the repair person has to come twice - once to investigate the problem and get approval, and then again to make the repairs or installations. This seems like a waste of time and can sometimes end up costing customers more money, such as in the case of a water leak or if household functions are not met. We chose Choice Home Warranty because of the great reviews of its customer service, but we've noticed that there is room for improvement. We hope that these concerns can be addressed so that we can continue to appreciate the benefits of being your customer. Thank you, and have a great day.

Would much prefer to speak with a person when filing a claim as it isn't always easy to explain what a problem is from prompts that are offered The person who was recommended to do the work on my washing machine didn't seem to have much experience and had to look up on her phone what the possible problem might be. She decided it was a part that needed to be replaced and had to be ordered. I have still not heard back from her about if or when the part might arrive or when she might return. I subsequently looked at past reviews on her company and they were all 1 or 2 (at the most) stars, with the same kind of complaints as I have just listed. My question is, why is Choice Home Warranty still using this company when I know that they have other vendors in my area that I know are reputable.

We have had Choice for about 6 months now, and they have approved the work that needed to be done on various issues we have had (spa heater, plumbing, irrigation), so the approval process has gone fine. The problem with Choice is that they do not have contractors that are good at responding to warranty claim requests. I have had to wait 1-2 weeks before I get someone "assigned" to our claim. Some contractors have not been on time or had to reschedule (like we are not as important as regular customers) I have received emails from Choice stating to please wait "while Choice is waiting for a contractor to respond to the claim". It seems they don't have steady or a consistent stream of contractors under their warranty system/contract. So I am not sure if we will continue with this company due to having to wait. We have been fortunate so far that our issues were not emergencies, but not sure if we have something serious (airconditioners, leaking, etc) we would be happy.

So far I have filed two claims. The first one, a dryer issue, has been a far from pleasant experience. But, I am waiting to see the ultimate conclusion which could change my mind. Stay tuned. The first appliance tech was not very good and only diagnosed one of the issues we were having. The dryer ended up going out completely while we waited for parts. If I remember correctly, we filed the claim on 2/3/23 and I ended up having it fixed myself on two 2/3/23. I ended up having to get another business to fix the entire thing and I am currently dealing with the reimbursement process. The claims people make this process sound very difficult and frustrating but the resolution people make it sound easy and straightforward. I will see how it works out. I just filed a claim for an AC issue so I will wait and see how this goes. As far as the people I have dealt with people who are very helpful and people who are far less than helpful. So I give them a 75% approval as far as that. I don’t let the less helpful people change my opinion. I hope everything works out and I don’t regret this decision.

Some of the contractors used by the company are substandard in how they deal with a claim, their technicians don’t seem very professional. I have had problems having them communicate with me on what they are doing and fail to return phone calls or texts. It is very frustrating to not know what is going on and when the repair will be completed. I have checked reviews about these companies and find they have very poor reviews. I would suggest Choice Home Warranty remove these companies from their repair list since they are not reliable and cause much frustration to the home owner who has to deal with them.

I foundd Choice to be reliable. When I had problems for the most part they were dealt with quickly. I had a serious issue wity my refrigerator. The plus side is that they actually reimbursed me for a good portion of a new one. The downside is it took the refrigerator breaking down 3 times before this was resolved. I would prefer that they have the same technician come for related issues. For my 3 visits dealing with my refrigerator I had three different companies. Overall I would recomend them as a good way to cover your needs at a reasonable price.

I have made two claims with Choice Warranty. The first I wasn't pleased with. Was told it wasn't normal wear and tear. It was a air duct that had collapsed under my house. How is that not covered. It only cost me my deductible and the repair person was good and quick. Making the repair after going for parts. Second claim was for a stove repair. This claim was handled well. The tech. called before arriving.Arrived on time and made fast work of the problem. I will renew the warranty, at the end of contract, for a forth time if the cost hasn't made it to costly.

They do what they say they are going to do. But not really. They cover what they say they are going to cover, but sometimes it takes months to get your problem resolved because you have to rely on their booking system - which is - well - worse than trying to call a taxi cab these days (which makes me sound old and I am not which is the point of this comment). Sometimes they show, sometimes they don't - why - because you shouldn't be using old ways of doing things. And since they use crappy vendors, you are stuck having to have issues fixed more than once. I have had that happen more than once - and Choice is of absolute zero help in that scenario. However, when the day comes when I need something massively expensive repaired, like my HVAC - I am hoping it will be worth dealing with them for the last 5ish years. And lastly, and possibly the worst thing about them - when your premium is due about 4-6 months out - they will start blasting you with Spam emails and calls to renew. I block them and send them to Spam, but it gets to be up to 3 times a day, and it is super annoying.

I like the program, but the Plumer that was sent out was a rip off. First was the $75.00 co-pay (More than acceptable). Then came the $275.00 to change a shut off valve and finally the $400.00 for parts and to haul away the old water heater that I have to agree to beforehand! Shouldn't the shut off valve be part of the $400.00 in parts???? The only parts they installed were two hoses, an exhaust pipe and a drip pan. So, I end up paying $750.00 for a Water heater that I could get for $700.00.

Filing a claim is very easy but the wait for a repairmen is unreasonable long. Two claims I filed i was offered to find my own repairmen, pay, and wait for a reimbursement from Choice Home Warranty. Isn't this is why I have this warranty in the 1st place because it is easier for me to pay 65$ service fee than 300$ 400$ or maybe even more and then wait for a reimbursement. What if there is a limit on what they would pay me back for. (Ex. Repairmen service fee 65$ + the repair 300$ 500$= 865$ total. And they CHW only approve reimbursement for 200$) #imjustsaying. Is it worth to keep this service? My husband says let's try it again and see what happens. As for me I'm ready to drop it & try another company.

I was a little frustrated because it was 2 days and they weren't finding a contractor for me. Your better off going with a contractor that you pick and is willing to fill out the reimbursement forms which i did because it takes too long for them to find one for you. My reimbursement check came alot sooner than expected.
