I've had generally good interactions with them, but there are hold times and things of that sort as well. I had an air conditioner out in my garage apartment. I was able to file a claim online. The technician was located and sent to my house. He assessed the problem and was able to fix it by replacing the thermostat.

Sometimes I try to get service and it takes a long time, but then when they do get to the service, they really do a good job. I needed a washing machine so I kept calling and calling and the service man came out and said he can't fix it. So they did tell me to go ahead and get the washing machine and they'd send a payment back, which they did.

Choice Home Warranty USED to be an excellent service company but several dealings with them have left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Roof repairs, part of their supposed service, never got taken care of. Had to resort to doing it outside of their no response time frame. Central Air Conditioning mechanical failures that they couldnt seem to cover. Appliance that they couldn't repair and they sent a check, supposedly , that I never received and they claim they have cancelled but won't show the proof. Just shady business dealings which I find tacky at best. Then you have their recommended repair company ie: Valley View Electric charging me for 2 service calls because they didn't diagnose the exhaust fan in the attic as the one that was defective so they decided they wouldn't replace the defective unit unless I paid an additional service charge that is suppose to be totally not allowed. Get the picture?

My recent past experience has not been great. First of all they take too long to get a technician out to fix my air. When I finally got to come out he didn't know what he was doing and I had to end up getting my own technician. They deducted another service fee from the amount I paid him. Which I shouldn't had to pay a service fee because it was the same claim. I had another claim for my toilet and the technician came out to fix it and found another problem which was minor but they told them that I would have to make another claim. This didn't make sense because they was already there to fix the toilet. Now the went up on my monthly fee without even notifying me.

Home Warranty companies are the best investment a home owner can purchase. However one of the companies Choice chooses to do business with is VERY unprofessional and should be ashamed to conduct business in such a manner. I sincerely hope Choice thinks twice about this business and how they are Choice look. Also Choice needs to have customer service reps available on weekends to help people with existing claims open. I called on a Saturday and to my surprise a prerecorded message states closed, and must call back on Monday. Keep in mind they are open for SALES, on weekends just not existing claims, in thos case where ran into an issue with their 3rd party company. To make things worse when I did get ahold of domeone and a manager was to call me back, well he did, the next day at 6:25am.. I m by the way Pacific Time, luckily I was already awake, but time zones should be considered.

Choice Home warranty has its good and bad. It has a few bad contractors that it consistently relies on that do not provide service to the customer but looks to deny claims. I only use the service because I'm a long distance landlord and it's the best I have at the moment. I have tried many of the home warranty companies and they are pretty much all the same.

Like: Air conditioner went out, entered claim Thursday AM. Contractor scheduled for Saturday AM-fairly quick for mid-August. Choice gave ok to replace on Sunday; my portion paid by Monday, unit in on Thursday, installed by 6PM Friday. Dislike: Did not have the option to select the system or pay more for an upgraded system.

This company works hard on finding ways to NOT cover things. They do not want to replace any major issues. They have a horrible response time to actually send someone out. They will schedule appointments immediately, but it may take several no shows and reschedules before you pay your $85 service visit. My Air Conditioner (condensor outside unit) shut off stopped working, August 15, AZ summer. No one showed up until 25th. 2 no shows and no calls later and someone comes to service the unit. Service Provider (SP) says that the unit needs to be replaced its old and it's leaking and shows pictures. CHW needs more pictures. Sept 5 Service Provider comes and uses leak detector to show more leaks in the air handler (inside unit in attic). CHW needs more pictures. I spoke to SP he said both systems are leaking and both needs replacing. The AirHandler coils are really rusted. I contact CHW to see why air leak detector videos sent by SP erect goods enough. "They wanted to see bubbles from him spreading soapy water on it. " I ehad to convince them that it's an obvious leak plus it's rusted. CHW approved the cheaper AirHandler and told me, that "they don't cover upgrades since my old AC unit won't match the new AirHandler they will cover." So we have to pay the cost of AC unit and labor to attach it to AirHandler. Got a Case Manager. Talked to 2 different Case Manager (employees). EXTREMELY RUDE. "Have you ever read your contract?" Was how the conversation started after the introduction. Explained, yes, "What part, show me what you read!" The next one wasn't any better even after telling him that I just spoke to the SP and I had the pictures, email and text messages confirming that the whole system leaked and was recommended to be replaced. Sept 19, CHW only covered the AirHandler and will not cover the AC unit. Hopefully waiting for repairs to start Sept 21st...

Not totally satisfied from when we initially signed up. Going into our third year and policies have changed, more restrictions on coverages items and we have the ultimate plan. A plumber suubmitted inaccurate photos and even though he resubmitted and corrected his error they still would not cover the repair. We had to wait on one claim for over a week for anyone to accept the claim on broken air conditioner in the middle of summer and then they said it would be another week! Took all types of hoops to jump to get someone who was willing to take the claim to be assigned to the repair. More stories but I won’t burden readers. It shouldn’t be so difficult on the clients end to get claims/repairs accepted. When this expires will look for another company. Am very disappointed in the people in the customer service dept. It appears they have outsourced their CS Dept. They read a script and have no personal interest in your needs. Very sad.

CHW works in certain ways. We had a stove that the burner broke on and the part was not available to repair. When they say they will replace..I believe they sent a check for $300.00 for a new stove. New stoves cost way more than that. Same thing happened with the washer. When our AC went out this summer, I contacted them on a Thursday. Called on Saturday and they could not find an AC repairman to come out. After waiting for them to find a repairman for almost two in the middle of the summer in Texas with 100 degree days, they sent an email on Monday saying that we could opt out of them finding a repairman and find one ourselves.. As you well know, when you get a repair man to your home, they do not have time to mess around and fill out forms. They see what the problem is and leave to go onto their next job. When the part comes in they call and show up the same day to repair. As for my AC it needed to be replaced. I sent in pictures and the what the repair said was wrong and immediately they emailed me back with, we have a contractor coming to fix your AC on Saturday. What were we suppose to do? Send the AC man away and have him come back another day or get it fixed. We got it fixed. CHW did not give us a cent for the replacement of the AC because they wanted to have a 2nd opinion to see if they could fix it. The coolant in the AC was R22 which is no longer in use, so even if they thought someone could repair it, it couldn't be recharged. I called and asked if we could have a refund for the remaining time on our contract and the person said since we have used it several times, we could not get money back on the remaining 15 months. We will not be renewing our CHW when it comes due.

I like the fast claims response. I do not like the replacement policy. I filed a claim for my microwave, the parts to repair it were no longer available and they only offered me a replacement check of only $191 to replace it. They wanted to give me a Lowe's gift card, but I refused it so they mailed a check to me. Also, of the several contractors I've dealt with most of them have complained about the claims process.

I thought you guys would be better than other home warranty companies but you have shown that you are just like the rest of them. You over promise service but under deliver on execution to your customer. In the end I was able to get my covered system fixed BUT it required over a month of back and forth to get to a resolution. It wasn’t until I sought out my own provider to do the job that you step in with your in network provider. The sense of urgency on your part was not there until I proceeded to cancel my renewal and go elsewhere. I believe in second chances and I renewed my contract for one more year. Don’t disappoint me!

I've had one good experience and one bad experience with the system I use. I had an air conditioner that was broken and they had a difficult time finding a technician in a timely manner to address this issue. So I had to go out and arrange for it myself. The other issue that I had was handled quite well and that was an issue that got corrected within a couple days, and that was with a dryer.

We have one situation right now that just has not been resolved. They told me to call the contractor. I did that and it hasn't gotten me anywhere. We had a refrigerator ice maker break. We've now had it happen twice.Someone came out and supposedly fixed it. It didn't say fixed very long. The second time they came out, they said you need a new part and we've heard back nothing from them. It's been about six weeks.

I have dissatisfaction with another home warranty company and Choice Home Warranty was cheaper, so I went with them. We had a leaking toilet bathroom on our lower floor, and when we called them they responded promptly and fixed it. The only way they communicate back with me is usually by email, there's no personal contact.

I thought it had a good price. But I did have a few problems. One time when we put in a claim, they couldn't find anybody to come and do the work. Last year our air conditioner went out and it was a week and they just couldn't find anybody to come and fix it. So we had to get somebody on our own to come fix it.

Recently I needed to call them about a garbage disposal that wasn't working properly and they managed that situation over a weekend and had it fixed within probably 48 hours. They were very quick to respond to the phone call, sending a repairman fairly quickly. The repairman has been generally quite communicative and it's very seamless process.

Some services ok and others not. After you get a repairman and he finds a problem, he/she must call the authorization department to get the ok to fix. If it's a weekend and after six, there is no one there to give an okay. Imagine your a/c out on a 95 degree day and your repairman can't get an answer. This makes the repair until he can come back again. Ugh.

Really like the technician that came out. It would be helpful if CHW paid at least some of the labor. Also to consider it an upgrade when an AC has to be replaced outside and the inside isn’t compatible with the replacement is a hardship especially for an elderly person

A 3 is being generous. I wrote the CEO of choice (who never answered) asking why they selected a contractor having a 1 star rating, who never answers the phone (or answers voice messages) and who totally misdiagnosed our washer/dryer failure. Instead of replacing or repairing unit, Choice opted to pay their evaluation of a fair settlement. I consulted with another service company that correctly diagnosed the issue and am repairing it.

In most cases you just pay the $75 service fee to the company that comes out to do the repair. If the repair is large like replacing the compressor on an air conditioning unit they try to not pay the full amount of the part. Sometimes the companies they contact to come to your home to access the repair can take up to 5-6 days to get there.

GARAGE DOOR 495 wanted me to pay them for the service. They said that CHW does not cover replacement of my garage door opener. I refused. He would not call CHW right there and then. One vendor identified to fix a broken garage door spring (and who was on his way to our house) called and tried to upsell the repair cost. He was told not to come. Another vendor arrived to fix a problem and had a hard time getting Choice on the phone to approve the repair. He was about to leave for another appointment when he finally reached someone. Over three years we have had generally good experiences. I get the feeling that the amounts CHW has set aside for some repairs is just not what the current market rate is for those repairs.

Air handler and overflow pan leaked. Contacted Choice Home Warranty for help and was advised that the soonest I would be able to get any help from them would be in about 48 hours. Meantime I had water coming through the ceiling so could not wait. I called an HVAC firm that responded immediately and got the water stopped. The next thing that happened was that CHE informed me that they could not find a tech in the area to do the repair but I could have the repair done on my own nickel but that CHE would have to approve the proposed repair and then evaluate the repair when completed. No thanks; we're done.

Since August 1st, I have had problems with my compressor. A technician came and replaced the capacitor. But he says I need the fan for it. He says the whole outside unit needs to be replaced. He claims he turn in his diagnosis a week ago. Today is September 9th and I haven't heard from either the technician or CHW, whether CHW will replace the compressor or not. I know I'm not the only customer, but come on. A little message with what's going on will suffice. Very disappointed.

I placed a service call for my AC. They were prompt in scheduling the first call. I called back a few days later and was told that a service rep. would come back out and check the unit that had frozen up. The unit had leaked into a closet and out into the breezeway and had caused damage to carpet and drywall. No one ever called or came back out.

Response to the work request seemed to be too long. Once the technician showed up and reviewed the problem with the cracked toilet tank Choice Warranty denied the request because they determine it not be fair wear and tear Had to persevere and work through the Case Manager, Sylvana G. The case manager finally approved the work order. I had to remind them that I am a long term subscriber signed up on a long term contract.
