This company will pay for repairs up to limit of what you paid them for your contract( I paid $3525 for a contract from 2019 to 2026) after which they will claim that everything is due to abuse. I most recently put in a claim for a broken washer and they said because I washed bedding ,that it was abuse However the company making the washer, Samsung ,when we called and asked about this ,said there was clearly a setting for bedding and that was not abuse. Plus the gentleman who was sent to evaluate the situation said it was not from abuse when I asked him. Most recently I had a claim for a microwave and again I asked the repairman whether this could be from abuse and I was informed that it was not. However, home choice warranty has deemed it abuse. When I called home choice warranty I was informed that they had already done repairs over $3000 which is slightly less than what I paid for the contract. They obviously are stopping Repairs once you reach a certain limit below what you paid them. Do not deal with this company . Save your money and have the repsirs done yourself!!!!

I am writing to formally document my experience with Choice Home Warranty and Sears Home Services, specifically regarding an interaction with a Choice Home Warranty supervisor named Elijah. On the morning of Friday, January 2, Sears Home Services advised that a technician would arrive between 7:25–8:59 AM, with an estimated arrival time of 8:09 AM. At approximately 8:45 AM, I checked the Sears app and saw a message from technician Tariq R. stating: “Sorry we missed you. We visited your home at 8:21 AM EST.” This message was inaccurate. I was home the entire time, seated in my living room with the lights on. My front door is partially glass, and I also have Ring camera timestamps confirming no technician arrived at my home. I attempted to contact Sears directly but was only able to reach an automated system. I then contacted Choice Home Warranty and received a callback at 8:49 AM. The first representative I spoke with was professional and attempted to assist; however, she stated that all she could see was an appointment window of 7:00 AM–6:00 PM, which was inconsistent with the information provided to me by Sears. Because there had been no update communicated to me and I did not want to wait an additional 24–48 hours for resolution, I requested to speak with a supervisor. I have no complaint regarding that representative. I was then transferred to Elijah. While I acknowledge that I was frustrated, I clearly stated that I understood the situation was not his personal fault. My frustration stemmed from ongoing issues with Sears and the claims process. For background, Sears had visited the previous week and advised that the heat would work after 12 hours if the system was powered down at the circuit. This did not resolve the issue. I was later informed that the prior Sears technician had not submitted a report, and Choice Home Warranty required 48 hours for submission before another appointment could be scheduled. As a result, my follow-up appointment was delayed by nine days. During the call, Elijah placed me on hold to contact Sears and also reached an automated system. At that time, the system stated an estimated arrival time of 3:49 PM, which had not previously appeared on my end or been communicated by the earlier representative. I explained this discrepancy. Elijah suggested that the technician may have rearranged their schedule; however, I reiterated that no such update was visible to me. Although we ultimately agreed to wait as long as the technician arrived that same day, Elijah continued to insist that the appointment had not been missed and that the “missed visit” message was merely an automated error. At no point did I make personal attacks toward Elijah; my concerns were directed solely at the technician and the service process. I do believe Choice Home Warranty’s leniency toward service providers contributes to situations like this. At the conclusion of the call, while continuing to explain his position, Elijah stated: “I’m glad I can be that pin cushion for you today.” I found this comment unprofessional and inappropriate, particularly given that I had already acknowledged that the issue was not personal and was seeking resolution rather than confrontation. As it turned out I was right. SEARS did cancel the appt untill the 12th. I had to call Choice back to demand a new tech. GK Mechanical that came out in the 6th and fixed the problem in less than 10 minutes.

The repair man to my home to look at my washer. He was here for approximately 10 minutes. He diagnosed the problem, but he has not returned to install the parts that he ordered. I found that I could order the parts on Amazon and have them in two days. It has been almost 2 weeks. since he was here. No phone call no nothing. But he made sure that he got his $85 which he repeatedly told me I had to pay at the first visit.

My refrigerator stopped working on October second 2025. On October 13 Tech showed up found bad circuit board ordered circuit board said it would be sent directly to me. Called the Tech. On October 30 31 said he had the circuit board asked for my mailing address. Sent a text with my mailing address no response. called numerous times not answering. last call November 14. They are suitable for routine tasks, such as a plumbing leak. However, for expensive items like A/C work, they will avoid addressing the real issue of replacing the coils (which have a known leak) by simply recharging the freon and hoping the problem goes away. This has happened to us now four times (for $75 per visit).

They are terrible.! They deny claims for no reason. I had a refrigerator go out and they took over 2 months just to get someone out to look at it. They are a terrible company to work with. Items are covered but they charge you to replace them and say it is because they have to update the system to replace the compressor. They said they had to change the wiring to the compressor. I watched the repairman change one for the other and there was no change of wiring.

We paid a deductible to the plumber to come out and fix NOTHING because in order for him to access the components they would have had to remove tile. They told me this is not covered under warranty and that none of the items he needed to do to fix the tub were covered under warranty. So all we did was pay the deductible, turn off the circuit breaker and we have a permanently broken tub now. Warranty is WORTHLESS!

My contract with Choice Home Warranty covered plumbing, however, when I submitted my claim for the bathroom and kitchen water faucets which were both twenty-one years old and falling apart and not functioning I was told that my claim was refused because the photos submitted with the claim indicated the. faucets appeared to be "broken" and not damaged by normal wear and tear. I paid my premiums as a greed, however, CHW did not pay the claim as they agreed to do.

They have a hard time finding reputable contractors to work for them. It took from 12/24 to 10/25 before they could send a person who knew what they were doing to repair my HVAC. He was knowledgeable and professional unlike the first person they sent. Then choice ask me to pay $780.00 to the repairman for additional parts to replace the compressor. We decided to get our own repairman and let them pay what the compressor cost back to us when we had a new unit installed. I would not recommend Choice home warranty.
