An appointment was scheduled today between the hours of 7-11 and as expected no one showed up. When I called the technician to question what happened, I was told that he does not work on Saturdays. When I called Choice Warranty, I was told they would come out on Monday and that they were sorry for the inconvenience it caused me. That is not satisfactory for me because from the first day I signed up with them, I have had nothing but problems, excuses and promises. This is a warning to anyone who even thinks about using Choice Home Warranty, you need to have your head examined. They are NOT worth the cost and the trouble.

Jury is still out on CHW. My first claim and CHW used an HVAC repair company that is simply a broker for contractors across the state. The HVAC company has a terrible history with clients and horrible reviews posted on BBB (29, 1-stars). But on request by policyholder, CHW found a quality vendor who is honest and does great work.

*****UPDATED**** Please entire review. 1 year ago I gave CHW 5 stars. Today they are a 1! I really like the pricing and coverage I don't like the multiple people calling/emailing after getting a quote We used Choice in the past and purchased a 5 year Plan. Looking forward to having long term coverage. Updated 2/22/22 - We have had the 5 year plan for 1 year and have had two claims. The first was our upstairs A/C unit. It was repaired but IMO the symptom was fixed vs. the root cause. It was low on refrigerant and the unit needed a leak test to determine where the leak was to either seal or replace the part with the leak. CHW paid for the additional refrigerant to be added but would not cover repairing the actual leak. 2nd claim was this November 2021 when my furnace failed. The technician came out and determined the Inducer Draft motor was bad. I paid my $75 co-pay to the technician, and he submitted the diagnosis to CHW. They approved the claim, and the technician ordered the part. He said it would take a while to get the part. After 2 months without heat and multiple calls/texts with the technician I reached out to CHW for help with their technician and the parts. They said it was up to the customer to coordinate with the technician, but they would call. They were told the part would be coming in "soon". When I asked what soon was, since it had been 2 months already, they told me they didn't know and to contact the technician. I also asked for the part number. I thought maybe I could help get the part since my background is in Supply Chain. After another 2 weeks of being ghosted by the Technician with not response to texts or VM's, I again called CHW. They offered a new technician at no additional charge. This company was a no show and never returned my calls. So, I got a 3rd company. He was very nice but was new to doing home warranty claims for CHW. He said he used it as filler work between bigger commercial jobs. He submitted the same diagnosis, but CHW kept asking him for additional details like his license and insurance, which he says he provided. IDK, but after another couple weeks of back and forth, we get a 4th company. This is our 4th company in nearly 4 months and still no heat. When I met with him, he again confirmed the same diagnosis and said after 22 years the motor just failed. He submitted a diagnosis to CHW and now they denied the claim! They said "one of the diagnoses" stated it was due to water damage. When I asked which one, they couldn't (or wouldn't) tell me. My units are in my crawl space with a dehumidifier for summer and it is very dry. They told me that water drained from the evaporator "A" coil and caused the damage. My units are mounted horizontally. Last time I checked water can't travel sideways against airflow. The drain pan is below the "A" coil. I appealed and they asked I have my own technician come out. I had to arrange and pay for an independent company to come out. I have a copy of the report they provided which stated the same as the others. Failure due to normal wear and age. After all this, they denied my appeal, stating that my technician was too expensive. They then told me that since I called my own technician, (SOMETHING THEY TOLD ME TO DO!). they would not cover the cost of the repair. It blows my mind how a repair can be approved, and the parts are ordered with the first technician (who got my $75 service call fee) but then later ends up being denied. BTW - I found the part number of the part needed. It is readily available from multiple Electrical supply stores. I am out $150 for two service calls and still have no heat. I cancelled my policy and requested a refund. The headaches are not worth it. Save your money and put it in a savings account to use for repairs. It will add years to your life by reducing stress and you don't have to argue to get something repaired.

My experience with you guys is so bad, not bad but horrible...its a system that you have in place, this is how it goes; 1.Deductible 2.Not approved. 3.Call again. 4.Will send someone else. 5.New deductible because .....always some procedures. 6.Call again. 7.Now case manager needs to review. 8.Call again. 9.Everytime case is escalated you help...funny how you guys do us (customers) favors by sending someone else, or by waiving the second deductible even though your servis guy didn't show up/followup with 'your costumer' for 30 day's, neither you guys followed up! 10.AC goes off in the middle of summer and you guys find some company that 'can't" come for 10 days because they are busy. 11.Me as a costumer gotta do your job, find available company that comes earlier and fixes it. 12.Call again, you guessed it not approved because ....some procedure 13.Call again, now we know the process...escalate the ticket, some other guy does you a favor (in this case only 30%)...funny system. - List goes probably to 50 but I have no time! Nothing personal, just your way of operating is wrong!!

Very good service bringing repair person out. The repair person was competent and professional. Disappointed with offer to replace my dishwasher with just wholesale cost and not include installation. Appeal process was basically take it or leave it. Called another rep and they were able to get closer to replacement cost of lower end model, but no money for installation. I used to have AHS for home warranty and it was much better dealing with them on replacing an appliance.

If it was possible to give negative stars, I would. This is the worst warranty company bar none. We’ve had three different issues with appliances, and two out of the three weren’t covered. The third was our dishwasher which the company decided it was was more cost effective to replace than to repair. Sounds good until they offered us $245 for the replacement, and the cheapest comparable unit was $450. The claims specialist related that the company determines the value of the replacement based on the wholesale price for which they could acquire the unit, a service which they conveniently don’t provide. So after two years, $255 in service fees, and $1080 in monthly fees (not to mention the cost of repairing all of the things they don’t cover), they have done absolutely nothing. The claims specialist I spoke with insulted my intelligence by claiming he was attempting to “educate me on my contract,” which was the absolute final straw. I wouldn’t recommend this company if it was free. They are grifters and crooks. The contract might as well read, “We cover all electronic appliances unless they rely on electricity,” or perhaps “we cover all washers, dishwashers and hot water heaters unless the come into contact with actual water.” That’s the level of absurdity that you’ll be dealing with if you decide to give them your business. Avoid them like Covid

In this particular claim, over-the-stove microwave, Choice chooses to replace instead of repair. I understand that they have that choice. But, they only choose to pay for a new microwave with an e-gift card of insufficient amount to purchase a new unit. They leave the removal of the old unit and installation of the new unit to me to hire a qualified installer. One of the reasons to have a home warranty is the satisfaction that Choice makes those decisions and is responsible for the repairs. They say that is what the contract says and they are correct but it is wrong.

This company tries every attempt to not pay for repairs. We called to have our furnace repaired. The issue was that the ignitor was coming on but the gas wouldn't stay lit. We just had our propane tank filled with 125 gallons. That usually last us three months in the winter. When we reported that the furnace wouldn't stay on to keep our home lit. They sent a contractor out. He was un professional. Showed up at 9pm. It was dark out and he didn't have the upmost respect to shower including his look was like he was on something. The Guy said he found the problem and has to get the part in the morning and will be back by 11am to install. Never showed up at that time. He came again after 9pm the next day and said it was fixed. I arrived home at 10pm. The furnace was doing the same thing. I checked the tank. We was at 75% full at that time. We made a complaint with CHW. They said they are going to sent the same guy to fix it again. We requested not to have him come back out. They insisted that they have to request the same guy to fix what he didn't fix in the first place. He never showed up. Here it is three weeks later. Making it one month without a fixed furnace. They send another contractor out. He shows up on time but submitted that we need a whole new system. even though our system is only two years old. They sent another company. He submitted our regulator needed to be replaced. Due to the one that is on it now is not supplying the right amount of gas pressure to ignite and stay lit. They sent someone else out to see if that is true. So, we now have the fourth person out. His report is the same but with an extra note as to the Gas line was off and that's the reason why we have gas pressure issues. They sent another person out to change the gas regulator. The part he purchased wouldn't fit. He left to get another one and came back in the morning the next day. Later to come back and say that one isn't working either. He couldn't get the screw out to convert it from natural gas to Propane. He told the CHW and they wouldn't pay him for his troubles. Here now we are on month three at this point. From cooking and heating our home from our gas stove. We are now low in our tank. We are at 15% full. CHW sends another contractor out. Not updating him on our past issues with other contractors. They waited for his report. He said we do not have enough gas pressure because our tank is empty and needs to be filled. Funny that the last guy says that after we shared the past contractor 5 attempts. CHW canceled the claim request and denied our repair order. I am not going to renew with them. Do NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THEM. They make you pay for a whole year NON REFUNDABLE even when they are NON RELIABLE.

CHW did not follow up on service situation. Said closed when item not replaced as agreed. The subcontractor did not schedule visit to install new unit until I called. The technician had a replacement unit in his truck but had to wait days for authorization. Clear CHW authorization process is broken - fix it immediately. Why was CHW reporting my problem was solved when it wasn't. Where did information come from saying the problem was solved. There is no acceptable system of follow-up on claim at CHW - fix it. Compared to other home warranty services - your processes are in the dark ages - FIX THEM. Am I a satisfied Customer? - absolutely NOT. I have no complaint with the technician - he was competent, personable, etc. My complaint is with CHW - you do not know how to run a home warranty business from the Customer's viewpoint..

I’m Still waiting for Roger to provide a refund of $125 the difference between his first quote and his last quote for six years of coverage and he promised to process the refund the same day the policy was done. I Would like the opportunity to try out your warranty but I must see the refund reflected on my card immediately or exercise my option to cancel within 30 days while following up by disputing it on my credit card. Was falsely told I would always reach someone in the US for customer service. Tried to use for a septic issue and was denied. When I was with my contractor I was on the phone with the representative that was not in the US so the contractor could explain his diagnosis, rep said sorry. The contractor tried to explain it was not a lack of my maintenance but the lack of the former owner... Still denied. I asked to speak to a supervisor/manager and was told that wasn't possible. I hung up called back and again told not possible to speak to a supervisor or manager, so I said ok cancel my service, not only was I given to a rep in the US but also one that was a level to do something. I said no thank you. They said how about no service fee call for any future calls and $150 refund of the fee you paid today..... and that couldn't have been offered the first call I made? My contract was paid in full up front, not a month to month. I requested a refund and will NEVER recommend any home warranty. This was my second company and they are all rip offs. The only positive thing was Wendy the rep in Florida that ultimately helped me.

Horrible company with, WORST customer service. From my personal experience, I have made 3 service calls in the last year. And it takes over a month to fix something that only takes under 30 minutes. They will make sure you pay the service fee without fixing the issue, by sending wrong techs to the home multiple times. There is deal between the vendors and Choice Home Warranty, that they only publish the report after you pay the service fee. I had to spend $350 in service fee and for other services, without even fixing the issue. I even had to go find myself a company to fix the issue. Once you joined there is no way to cancel it without paying a huge amount. Never go with Choice Home Warranty (CHW).

Set up a new warranty to take into effect in June and agreement was set up for May. I emailed and called and they stated I had to submit current home warranty info on letterhead to change date. I didn’t make the mistake and I had to jump they hoops to correct your mistake. The sales rep was rude when I didn’t take any of his upsale pitches and resolutions rep put me on hold for a good while before coming back on and then hanging up immediately. I’ve since cancelled my policy. If takes that much work to fix your mistake I’d hate to see how it is to file a claim. I’ll take my business elsewhere.

I was impressed with the response time to get an appointment after submitting the claim. I was notified of a next day appointment within 4 hours of submitting my claim.

CHW does not honor their contracts. They have some good companies that they associate with, but the companies can only do what CHW allows! I have had contracts with them for years on several homes, but will never do business with them after these 2 contracts expires. They claim to "repair or replace", instead they offer you partially what it cost to replace your appliance if the repair cost is too much! Not what the contract says!!!! It says "REPAIR OR REPLACE"!! Paying for a 3 year contract; I could have just kept the money and paid for the repairs myself after using the service only once in 3 years!! And on one of my contracts, I paid for a 3 year contract and NEVER use it!

I am not pleased at all with your customer service staff, they are not at all concerned with your customers, they assigned me twice to people more than 3 hours a way from me, they were not concerned at all when first guy dropped me 5 min before service call, I took off work the entire day and he called me five minutes before he was supposed to arrive to let me know he didn’t service our area, the first time I ever had to call y’all out to look at my icemaker somehow or another y’all got out of paying for that, and the guy would only take cash and he was late getting there by three days and I had taken off a day of work that time as well your staff is not knowledgeable they are very disconcerting they do not care, and if you are having a choice home warranty in the area you should have more people in that area working for you, y’all need to get your sales people out here looking for contractorsThat work in the Crystal Beach area in Galveston county you have nobody. I am not at all happy with your customer service at all, but the guy that came yesterday was completely amazing

My first claim was already a denial. First, they said they couldn't find me a technician and asked me to find one myself and submit the diagnosis. Then, they rejected the claim outright citing "pre-existing condition." However, on their website and their policy, it clearly states that "the age of a home or its systems and appliances does not matter. We cover items that are in good working condition and properly maintained." However, when things break, they will then say "we won't cover it." The case manager Ms T. was rude, totally unprepared, unfamiliar with the case details, completely unprofessional, and condescending. She was unwilling to listen but kept repeating "this is a denied claim". What's the point of having a case manager if they are not helping the customers but keep defending the company's pre-set opinion?

I like how easy it is to submit a claim. The response time is extremely quick, and the people they send out to do the work are good. The only downside is the steep fee for submitting a claim. Each request costs $65, so it doesn't make sense to go through them for most repairs.

Poor. I am disappointed by Choice Warranty Company. The last two times I have had need to call, the response has been negative. An offered replacement amount was so low it was not possible to find a comparable appliance remotely near the quality and options. That ended up being mostly out-of-pocket repair. This week, another disappointment on a repair of the same item, but different parts broke down. Choice refused repair costs. Appliances have many moving parts, especially washers. A policy that allows only one call on such an item is unrealistic and has created great dissatisfaction in this customer. When it is time to renew my 3-year policy, at this time, it is likely to be considered with great scrutiny, lest they are all alike: promise aid, satisfaction and security, then deliver little financial assistance and lots of frustration.

I've had a policy with them for two years and every time I have a repair request it takes jumping through hoops. After they send someone for service call and you need repair or replacement ita always double talk of what's NOT COVERED which seems to be most things. I have repair or replacement and they tried telling me my AC system which needed coil replacement wouldn't be covered because of rust from leaking freon. I lost it. Spent days and days to try to get some resolution as this unit is only 7 years old and under warranty and they said it still would cost me. They said I would need to pay install fee and part would be now covered under warranty. I need my AC now as I am in Florida but I will fight any charges above my service charge fee of $60. Once my contract runs out I will run not walk away from them and I would never recommend them.

This has been the worst experience of our time with Choice home warranty. Our microwave went out and it took the company 2 weeks just to find a technician after countless calls into customer service. After a technician was found it took another week for him to come out to inspect the microwave. After the diagnosis, choice home warranty decided to replace our unit. But little did we know they would only offer HALF the cost of the value of our microwave. So we had to pay a service fee to the technician ($75) + the remaining money to get a replacement unit. Of course, the claims rep wasn’t able to increase our offer amount. The customer service was unhelpful, the offer amount was a joke and the time we spent waiting with a broken until was unacceptable HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!

I left a detail message about the plumber that repaired the pipe. How messy he left my kitchen, no tarp to cover ANYTHING and appliances, floor, counters, sink, and stove had drywall in around and under. He didn’t clean up very well at all, and no respect for my home. In the process cut 4holes in my kitchen and told me the water filled light would be alright, only for it to go out shortly after he left. I’ve NEVER gotten a response from Choice Home or a simple apology. The experience was far removed from amazing. It was horrible and stressful. There’s so much more to add, but it seems to be no point

The second attempt to have a technician come to address my leak was finally successful, but the issue was not appropriately assessed or addressed. I am now filing my second claim after already replacing the ceiling drywall, which will likely need to be torn out to fix the plumbing leak.

CHW sent a low end repair service to check out a bearing failure noise in our LG front loader washing machine. The technician did admit he had little experience on LG machines. His report to CHW stated in his opinion, the failure was caused by OVERLOADING and ABUSE. Also he claimed the repair was extensive and complex. When in FACT we NEVER OVERLOAD or ABUSE the machine. CLAIM DENIED BY CHW due to some fine print on ABUSE. END RESULT......We purchase a NEW LG front loader machine. Interestingly a SKILLED LG repair technician installing the new machine informed me of 2 important FACTS. 1) The bearing failure is normally caused by AGE not overloading or ABUSE. 2) The fix could be done in less than 2 hours using approx. $160 in parts. I had to pay for the CHW service call and also for the price of a NEW WASHER $$$$. In my opinion CHW does not use quality repair facilities , probably saving money for CHW and also using such repair agents to check the ABUSE BOX as to facilitate claim denial. I paid over $1170 for coverage NEVER AGAIN BUYERS BEWARE CHW will work hard to DENY CLAIMS When choosing home warranty companies my advise is BUYER BEWARE of CHW.
