I have been waiting a month trying to resolve the claim with my dishwasher. It took over a week to get anyone in my area to accept the job and then it was decided that it would need to be replaced. After a day or two, I was sent and email offering my $175 to replace my stainless steel Whirlpool dishwasher( installation was not included). When I did not accept this offer, I was assigned a case manager for an appeal. I did not understand this at all. How did become an issue? I just wanted the same dishwasher I had in working order. After multiple phone calls and couple of weeks of my emails and phone calls not being returned, I called to speak to someone else. I was told they could not help me because I was assigned a case manager. I made it known that she was not calling me back. They did call me back today and $225 dollars is all they will give me towards a new dishwasher and no installation. The check will take up to 30 days to get here. Needless to say, I will not be renewing my policy. This company uses false advertisement. They should say they pay for partial replacement and no installation. They keep reusing the same statement. "We don't pay retail cost of replacement". I do have to pay the retail cost of replacement

We have only had our policy 4 months with the purchase of our home. The seller chose the company and paid at closing. I ABSOLUTELY HATE THIS COMPANY!!! We placed a claim July 11 for our AC being out and was scheduled same day late in the evening for the next week Wednesday. I called the company the next morning and was told by the owner that they would not be able to make it to me and would more than likely reschedule my appointment. I called CHW and they did nothing! So the day of my appointment I recieved an email my appointment was canceled. I called them again and all they said was well we will submit another claim to the dispatch. Even when an appointment was not found in 12 hours I asked if I could hire my own tech because it was 81 degrees in my house they said they only reimburse at their rate even though all tech calls are about $100. It took 2 days to get a new appointment and it was scheduled for the next day. I again called the tech and he informed me he owned the company and WOULD NOT BE COMING TO MY APPOINTMENT OR 7 OTHERS CHW SENT because there was no work order and he doesn't send his employees to jobs with no information. All CHW sent was our name, address and email address. It is now Sunday July 22 and still NO Tech and NO AIR. And it seems no resolution and I call constantly!!!

Don't waste your money!!! January 2019, we called in for an oven repair. It was a simple fix. Needed a new control board for an oven less that seven years old. I was told by a technician that they don't make control boards any longer. Five visits later-- in April, they had taken the existing control board tried to rebuild it twice (wouldn't work), and one of those times it sparked and blew out the control board and could have caused a serious fire. Filled the house with smoke. Lost all confidence in this company. I then decided to call the oven company. They told me, by law they have to have parts for seven years. I ordered the part, had it in a few days, called a technician from a local reputable company, it was fixed that week. This was almost FOUR MONTHS later!! This company would not pay for the service call. I asked for our money back. They gave us a fraction of the investment back. Please don't trust this company!

I gave 1 star because there was not a choice for negative stars. This company is a scam and totally disreputable. On May 29, 2019 a fan blade on our A/C unit broke and damaged the condenser coils. Our claim was denied because they said the condenser coils were not covered, however the damage was done by the fan, which is covered. We filed a claim and were assigned a case manager and number. We were told we would receive a call from her. After several emails and phone messages to her with no response, I was able to talk to someone who assured me that I would receive a call from my case manager. This person did say only “normal wear and tear” was covered. I believe the fan blade breaking on its own is “normal wear and tear”. I shared that my husband is a 74 yr old Viet Nam veteran with PTSD who was recovering from a major back surgery at the time the A/C stopped working. To this date, 7 weeks later, we have received no contact from our case manager or anyone at Choice Home Warranty. Do your homework and read all the extremely negative reviews of this company. Please do not leave the insincere automated response.

BUYER BEWARE. The company's claims are obfuscations and its dealings with customers opaque and convoluted. CHW does not do as it says. They could not find a technician in our area to fix an A/C unit that had failed. After nearly 24 hours, CHW was still unable to find a technician. During this process, communication with CHW was a complete black hole. We had to call them to find out what was happening. Ultimately, we had to source our own HVAC technician. The 15-minute claim of authorization is a fabrication, more like 6 to 7 hours. We were denied the claim and the fabricated excuse given was made from the information gleaned from 2 photographs and patently false. Our Tech advised CHW, over the phone, the unit was in very good condition, other than a shorted compressor. CHW determined that we had failed to maintain the A/C unit, a determination made from a single photo. A determination we find flabbergasting as we did maintenance in​ May 2019. CHW uses a strategy of delay, delay, delay until you are in a situation where you must take ownership of the project yourself to get results and then conjure a denial, so they don't have to honor their policy. Don't make this company your choice, it would be a mistake. The experience was completely unsatisfactory and a waste of money, both for the warranty and the value of our time.

This company is not worth one penny! When looking for a home warranty company, please look somewhere else! CHW does not care about their clients. They only want your money each month. I've been with CHW for about a year, and I've had nothing but paying a monthly payment and a $60.00 co-pay when the tech arrives. CHW does not listen to the tech (which is one of their contractors), on what they found the problem to be. When the tech submits the issue(s), and a system must be replaced, CHW will deny the claim, and have you submit an appeal, only to tell you, it's your fault and the unit is not covered. Please, DO NOT go with CHW. They are a big rip-off. Customer Service is bad, Case Manager is Bad, and they will lie when they are signing you up. I would have given them all zero's if the system would allow me.

I purchased a home warranty that was in affect from 1/17/16 through 7/17/19. on July 11th of 2019, the air conditioning system began making a loud noise when it was running which vibrates the house. A claim was made that day to Choice Home Warranty. They did not find someone to take the job so we chose the option to hire our own HVAC professional and to be reimbursed for the cost. we contacted A service man and he agreed to look at it. we explained the process about the home warranty and gave him the claim number and information. He texted us after he looked at it and told us the blower fan was bad. He called Choice Home Warranty to explain the problem and they told him to go forward with the repair. He left us the invoice for $681 for parts and labor and we paid him. We then sent the invoice to the warranty company who is suppose to reimburse within 30 days. After this we received a denial email for the claim stating that excessive dirt on the blower motor caused the fan to go out of balance causing the problem. We then contacted the HVAC professional that did the repair to ask if this was true. He was very upset and said they were lying to get out of paying and that the problem was a bad bearing in the fan motor which caused the fan to go out of balance and it was very clean and there wasn’t any dirt. The Plumbing and Heating provided us a statement saying that the problem was due to a bad bearing and not excessive dirt. we filed an appeal with Choice Home Warranty and they were to assign a case manager within 24 hours.after 2 days someone contacted us and was rude and refused to answer the questions we submitted in writing. We believe this to be fraudulent activity and the warranty company is making up information to not pay a claim they authorized the HVAC professional to do. They also made up a reason that the service company has stated was a lie. We have filed a claim with the FDC and a complaint with the better business Bureau. Buyer beware!

The worst customer service I have ever had. They don't cover A/C units like they say they do. In our state A/C units are used daily. Our compressor went out before the tech showed up they denied our claim. They said the unit was too old and not serviced properly. Tried to cancel service contract they won't answer phone and Email. Finally got it cancelled but they will not refund unused months. 7 months left on contract but they say no refunds period. This is a ripoff for sure. Asked to speak to manager was told she was manager and refused to let me speak to anyone else. Better business bureaus needs to investigate this business! I feel its a scam.

Our washing machine was making a horrible grinding sound and the whole tub filled with water for a small load of clothes. We called Choice Home Warranty, they sent someone and a few days later we received an email. Telling us that we exceeded the load weight and will NOT fix our washer! My husband has been trying to reach the our case manager Douglas Latham, of course there has not been any return calls or email. My husband has called everyday and is sent to voice mail every time, why be a manager if you ignore your customers?? Our washer has been out since July 10, 2019 and we have an 2.5 year which you know they go through clothes quick, plus 3 adults. I went to the laundromat to do 3 medium loads and a large load of towels, it cost $10. I had to haul wet clothes so I could use my dryer at home to avoid more cost. How is that they determine that we exceed the load weight ? Are they living with us or have a hidden camera? That is just a escape goat to Not to uphold their obligations!! What do we do now since no one will call us back? Pay for repairs out our pockets, then why have a home warranty company? Buy a new washer which we can't afford either!! What a huge disappointment and waste of money to have this company

This company is based out of New Jersey. I’m in the South. Have had 3 different company’s scheduled to come out for a simple belt for the dryer and 1 reason after another, it hasn’t happened. Not because of me. I’ve paid for warranty and been home to greet repairmen but it just ain’t happening. Company is not reliable. Out of nearly 3000 reviews, there are way too many dissatisfied customers. Negative reviews are almost evn with positive. Those are bad numbers. Guess I should have read more reviews. Says 5 star on its site. What a lie. I’m not happy and would never have bought this warranty had I known service was so extremely bad. Will look elsewhere. I work too hard for my money to cont throwing it away. Very shady business. Would not recommend in fact I would tell people to look elsewhere.

Save your money this company is a SCAM! I chose them based on a quick search which had them listed as #1 . I wanted to view the coverage before I purchased but was told that they could not show me what was covered until I bought the policy then he would email me a copy. Within a few minutes after receiving the agreement I very quickly discovered that they don't actually cover much of anything so I immediately called them back and canceled I received an email cancellation while I was still on the phone with them so I figured it's done. Nope they still processed the payment. That was July 9 2019 Today is July 15 and they still have not processed my refund. They are very quick to take your money but very slow to refund you and based on many of reviews I see here I'm not alone.

This is a major scam! I filed a pool repair claim over two weeks ago. They have spoken with our pool company multiple times and have yet to approve the claim. Now in addition the the $700 repair, I will have to pay additional to shock the pool...plus 2-3 weeks or prime pool season has been lost. Every time I send a status update, I get their standard "pool tech needs to contact them" even though they have repeatedly been contacted. I am now paying the pool company direct, writing bad reviews wherever I can to keep others from being scammed and will see what I can get refunded by the company or file a fraud claim with Visa.

My AC stopped working so I filed a claim. Technician came out and said my compressor was bad. I had to submit pictures online and they denied my claim because my “coil was dirty restricting airflow, causing my compressor to overheat because I didn’t maintain my unit.” I had to appeal my claim and they denied it again. While talking to my case manager, I let it be known that I had two separate documentations from professionals, one from two months ago and the other one from the technician that diagnosed my compressor problem, stating that my unit had no airflow restrictions. How can a company say what the cause of the problem was over a few pictures while I have two professionals reports confirming that airflow was not an issue? My AC unit is 25 years old. They do not take age into consideration, but if my unit wasn’t maintained, it never would have lasted that long. This company is an absolute joke.

Called for service on a non functioning A/C. Technician showed up and filled Freon even though the propblem (and I described this to him) was with the condenser itself not functioning. He left, never came back and never called again. I called choice Hw every day over the course of a week and they continuously failed to get someone on site to fix the problem. My AC has not been functioning for over 3 weeks now with no action from choice. Clearly choice likes to use the worst possible technicians rather than competent and skilled companies. This is an awful organization with no management or customer service skills. Don’t waste your time or money. They are useless, incompetent, blubbering idiots.

Save your money!! I made the mistake of buying a multi-year coverage after being pressured to do so by the sales person. I have had coverage for over a year. Every time I open a claim, they find a reason to decline coverage. Over the years, I opened a claim for my stove, they found a reason not to cover it after the technician visit. In fact, the technician actually broke the stove while trying to troubleshoot the problem and CHW refused to fix what he broke. Another claim was for the air condition, this is also was rejected. I have a claim for my pool equipment (which is option coverage that I purchased), that one too was rejected. This is a SCUM. I strongly advise you to save your money and look elsewhere. Don't be fooled by the cheap coverage but you will get NOTHING in return.

Had a 14-yr old air conditioner that quit cooling the home. Tech was promptly dispatched by CHW and diagnosed a leaking outdoor/condensing coil. Tech took pictures of the leak area and filed report to CHW. CHW immediately denied the claim stating that it doesn’t cover corrosion. Many HVAC-related issues are related to leaking coils (indoor & outdoor)... especially after 14 years of normal use. CHW was adamant that it would not cover a repair or replacement. I demanded and received a full refund for the policy... shame on me for trusting them. Do yourself a favor and buy a different company’s HW policy. Disappointed with the time wasted on this HW product.

My mother suggested that I should get a home warranty, especially with me expecting my first child and needing to ensure that I could be able to have comfort in knowing that there is someone I could call on with issues around my condo. Problem #1: The cost to have someone come out to visit if there is an issue. The service fee my mom was told she would would pay was different from what they told me. We applied around the same time. Problem #2: What they cover. They really do not cover anything. I felt as if I was paying Choice a service fee that is really a finders fee. Meaning, I could have found the companies they are sending out on my own and paid them a service fee. Secondly, I because they do not cover anything, you end up having to pay the people who come out anyways to make any repairs. Problem #3: Companies they send out do not care for Choice. I knew it was time to get rid of this company for good when I had an issue with the tank above my water heater. The company they sent out was a good company. Per usual, the man comes back and tells me they do not cover this issue. Then he specifically told me, if I had went with two other companies he suggested, my issue would have been covered. I appreciated this honesty. Problem #4: They never fix issues that they do cover. My mother has an AC issue and she keeps paying a service fee for them to send out a company. These companies never fix the actual problem. Her AC stopped working after this last service call. How many times does she have to call before she gets her AC fixed or replaced properly over something they do cover? Bottom line, off the recommendation of the person that visited my home, I am going to switch over to one of the two companies he recommended, as well as my mother. I even suggested this to my friends who were waiting to see if Choice was a good way to go. This was the worst mistake ever.

I used my home warranty only once, and that was after having it for one year. I needed to have my air conditioning checked because it wasn't cooling as it should. It took CHW over one month to get a technician out to my home to check my a/c. Once the technician checked my unit he reported back to CHW the problem he found. CHW said that the problem the technician found was not covered under my contract. I appealed their decision and they have never responded to my appeal. I was told when I purchased my contract that I would have no worries about coverage of my unit. The problem with my unit was not to any fault of my own. But CHW refuses to cover the repairs. Consider your choice seriously before choosing CHW. Buyer Beware!

This company is a scam. BUYERS BEWARE!!!! They will not cover anything but continue to take your money every month. I was under contract with them and my ac unit went out. I live in North Carolina where summers are brutal. I called them and told them what the problem was and they said they would have there service technician come and charged $60 which is another scam. Found out that it could be a leak in the system and needed to have a leak test performed. I called in a tech from a company with a great reputation and he stated that there was a leak. I paid him $100 to perform the test and he talked to the home warranty claims department. Before he could get out of my driveway they sent an email denying my claim. When I called to cancel the service the manager on the line wanted to give a free month of service that is not what I needed I need my AC fixed. I payed $50 per month and I feel like I was scammed all along. Shady business practices and con artists. Please save your money and pay for your own expenses when things break down. It’s sad when you purchase a service thinking it will give you a piece of mind but all it gives you are nightmares, headaches, and empty pockets. DO NOT PURCHASE! Choice Home Warranty is truly a SCAM!!

1 star. Because I cannot do less. Choice will 24 hour you into next week. My claim started june 30 for my dishwasher and I am still washing dishes by hand July 9th and counting. The service provider cancelled I appt and when they came the guy did not speak English so he kept handing me his phone to talk to someone. Another 24 hour rec email stating they would replace and sending me to a case mgr another more than24 hour thru holuday and we called again. Then we called choice to report case mgr neglect to return our call and another 24 hour began. More problems but my husband has already written that review. Still washing dishes by hand.

If I can give this company 100 !!! One star reviews I would. We purchased a home warranty to cover our home. We happened to have an issue with our washing machine exactly 31 days after we signed up. We paid for 2 full months and received a claim number and assigned a service technician that came to the house, his service fee was $60 l. We paid him and once the warranty company was notified that it was an expensive repair they told us we are denied coverage. They took our money on time and the technician took $60 , they left us out of $168 and a washing machine that needs a repair. Anyone that is considering this company please stay away!!! You will be wasting your money. When we appealed we were directed to a representative that took a week to get back to us and she was very rude and unprofessional. I will always make sure everyone knows the truth about this scam!!!!!!!!

I DID NOT SEE ANYONE UNTIL 7-8-2019. ( I UNDERSTAND IT IS SUMMER AND THERE ARE ALOT OF AC ISSUES SO I DID NOT MAKE AN ISSUE OF IT ). THE TECHNICIAN THAT CAME OUT WAS PROFFESSIONAL. HE WENT THROUGH THE UNIT AND DETERMINED THAT THE COMPRESSOR WENT OUT AND THE COMPASSATOR WENT OUT. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE FAN BLADES. I ASKED HIM HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN AND HE SAID IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME WITH THESE OLD UNITS. CHOICE SENT ME AN EMAIL DENYING MY CLAIM BECAUSE IT WAS NOT DUE TO NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. Choice home warranty doesn't care about their customers. I filed a claim for my refrigerator ice maker that isn't making ice. It was clear that the request is that the ice maker isn't working, but they sent someone anyways even though thier policy states that they do not cover ice makers. Called customer service to ask why someone was sent to my home if the item I'm asking about isn't covered and they stated that it was written up as the refrigerator not cooling which wasn't the problem. I requested that I get refunded the service charge since they aren't going to fix the icemaker. I was transferred to a manager and the manager wasn't helpful at all. She reiterated the policy doesn't cover the ice-makers (which it's not my dispute) I can't fathom the fact that someone was sent out to my home when Choice Home Warranty knows they do not cover the repair requested. I told the manager is spoke to that she didn't care for her customer and I wanted to cancel my account. With no hesitation. I also told her I'm filing a complaint with the BBB and she also stated that the BBB won't help because they know their policies. Guess your business is so big that the loss of one customer is of no consequece.

Do not ever get Home Choice Home warranty.. They will not send anyone to fix you stuff because no technicians want to do business with them. I've been left without air conditioning for 5days in this heat wave and no one has showed up yet. They told me to get my technician to repair it and when he came we couldn't get them on phone to approve claim. He finally got them later in day for them to demand all kind of unneeded stuff . I was to pay tech because he said he wasn't dealing with them . So now I still have no air conditioning and he's not calling them again to wait on response because there phone service sucks also.You will be on hold for over a hour and get nothing done. I've told them to send there tech out here today or I was filing lawsuit .. Do not make the mistake of giving Home Choice your money because they are sorry and want fix anything.. it took a month and they denied my fridge claim stating lack of routine maintenance. sears said the fridge was 12 years old and the condenser usually go bad between 10-12 years. i appealed and they did not budge. they pay small claims for things you can replace on your own. big ticket items like fridge, they refuse to replace. they are not worth the money. very bad customer service. I am in the process of filling a complaint with the BBB. once a month my appliances are pulled out and the area behind and under is vacuumed and mopped. are they saying i should unscrew the back of the fridge and vacuum dust and dirt that may have gotten there? they are ridiculous! the whole process is nothing but headaches.

I switched to choice because they offered a lower price & lower trade fee than my former warranty company. Wrong move. Ever heard of the saying...you get what you pay for. I put in a claim. Was denied. Appealed and no response from the company. I reached out to Choice 15+ times. Tried to get a supervisor to call me to discuss the appeal no response. I finally gave up and called to cancel my policy and get a refund for the $ I paid upfront. Quick to take your $ but very slow to credit your account once you cancel. After talking about my experience with others, I found others who had similar problems with Choice . This company is possible one of the worst companies that I have ever dealt with. Long story short...try another company and save yourself from unneeded headaches.

I had a technician come by to repair a running toilet and repair a shutoff valve below. From the moment he arrived, his attitude was “have you read and reviewed your CHW policy.” Needless to say his actions showed he wasn’t willing to work or do any repairs. One of the reasons I hate late day appointments, they’re tired and hot. To make a long story short, he replaced a fill valve, that I could have done, a lot cheaper than a $75 service fee. Tried to tell me he would ha e to break into the wall to replace the cutoff switch, which was a lie. I pointed out to him that he could merely replace the valve part which stood out from the wall. His excuse was, “that’s only if I have one that matches the same grooves.” He was more than willing to sell me things I didn’t ask for or need. This morning my wife spoke about an issue with the refrigerator, I’ll place a call to CHW, if the technician who responds can’t help, I’m done with them. Paying a monthly fee and for service calls isn’t what I call a warranty, more like bait and switch. Lastly, they’re so nice on the phone trying to sell a warranty after that, it’s rudeness on steroids.

The salesman I spoke with was extremely pushy and continued offering longer services for more money even after I had very directly stated I was not interested. Worst company ever. Wouldn’t cover my A/C unit. Said that the coil was rusted even though I had 3 technicians tell me it wasn’t. It was normal wear and tear and I even sent in pictures after paying a contractor $600 to remove it just to get the pictures Choice requested. Case manager Allison S. was terrible. Would literally go 5 days without answering the phone or calling back. I was without air for 3 weeks because she took so long to return calls/emails. And then I still had to pay $4000 to fix it. I’ve consulted a lawyer and he says I have a case since I have all of my maintenance records showing the unit was serviced and in good working order every 6 months. Lawyer is also looking into class action against them.

I've been a loyal customer for almost 5 years now. Called them out about 6 times. Only one claim was *covered* for repair. Twice we've called about our air conditioning unit. The first time it needed some freon. This second time around, in New Orleans's 100°+ weather, they denied the claim because they don't cover corrosion of coiling. We have a leak coming from the bathroom. They approved for a plumber to cut three big holes in our living room wall but once they received the diagnoses, they denied the repair stating they don't cover bath tub drain mechanisms. So now we have these big holes in the wall with absolutely nothing to show for it. The $2500 hundred we've paid them for basically nothing over the past 5 years, plus the $60 we have to pay the very unprofessional technicians they send out is totally a waste of money. Don't waste your time or money with these people. Definitely NOT WORTH IT.

We have been having repeated issues with our air conditioner for weeks now, starting with a freon leak. This was repaired by the first contractor that they sent out. Shortly after the blower motor in the unit blew, and a second contractor was sent. I was told that the old motor was the "wrong size" so a replacement would not be covered. I paid the contractor $560 cash to put a new blower motor in. Upon installing they could not get the unit to cool, telling me that it was out of freon. That resulted in the first contractor coming back, only to tell me that the unit was full of freon as he had left it. Upon his return (5th visit between the two), he found that the other guys had left the heat pump unit in the attic open when the changed the motor, making cooling impossible. On top of that, the didn't take the side panel off to do the work - they simply removed a couple of screws and bent the sheet metal over the top, then left it that way when they were done. Additionally, they screwed up the wiring to the thermostat, and lord knows where else, so that a trace needed to be completed to repair. Choice denied the claim for the wire tracing, despite the fact that the contractor THEY sent messed it up. Finally, the unit blew again and could not be started up. Diagnosis was an electrical issue (short to ground) that fried the system. Choice is denying the claim to replace the A/C, stating that such an electrical issue is not covered. Apparently they take no responsibility for sending an incompetent contractor that provably screwed up the wiring to the unit, stating that it can't be proven that they were the ones that caused the electrical issue that friend it for good. Apparently A/C units that work just fine for 5 1/2 years plus can suddenly just short to ground out of the blue, with no connection whatsoever to a bad contractor that messes up wiring so badly that another one needs to fix. This company will cover your small issues, but the second a significant issue arises they will deny your claim for any and every reason that they can think up. It's a complete scam - robbery justified by contractual fine print. Stay away.

My HVAC AC unit has had a leak over several contracts with Choice Home Warranty and they have never fixed it. They put dye in the system and never could find the source of the leak. The solution is to put refrigerant in the unit which will most likely leak out sooner than later. Now my coils are rusted over from working hard with low refrigerant in it now it's my fault. How? My house isn't even 10 years old. I file multiple claims under my current contract for my HVAC which resulted in my unit being serviced over five times in the last year and the main issue was never resolved. I even file a grievance against the company they outsourced to come fix my AC unit yet they still sent the same company. Under my current claim I requested a different company and finally I got one. They identified the problem that I already knew (the leak), now because of the coails rusted over they don't want to cover it. I've had HVAC service claims from Choice Home Warranty come out over five times in the last year and probably 10 times in the last 3 years. I never felt more disrespected in my life.

I researched before I selected my warranty company. I called on a hot water heater problem and the labor they contracted with assessed the problem and I was told it was covered, then I was told it was not covered. The technician said that he replaced the elements in my hot water heater, but he never did. I was told there was a leak, but there wasn't. I don't know if Choice has the questionable business practices or the technicians they hire have the questionable business practices. Or, they work together. I have learned that home warranties aren't worth it. The claims will just be denied and the technicians will pad the bill to get more from the warranty companies it's a vicious circle of deception for the consumer. Don't get trapped. Save the money and just pay for the repairs when they come up.

I'd caution anyone away from using this company when there are so many better and more reliable options. They'll do repairs like anyone, but don't count on them if you really need them for a replacement. EVEN BOTH OF THEIR OWN CONTRACTORS WHO CAME TO MY HOUSE WARNED ME ABOUT THEIR UNETHICAL CLAIM DENAIL PRACTICES. I'm cancelling my policy and switching to American Home Shield. My AC unit went out due to a coil leak, but because there was normal wear and tear, corrosion on the drip pan, and evidence of a prior leak in the drip pan that stained the wood beneath it, they're denying my claim because our home inspector used the language "consult a professional" like he did for every other tiny issue found in our entire house. Because we didn't, they're able to say it's a pre-existing condition and not the normal wear and tear that caused our AC to fail even though the issues mentioned are 100% unrelated to it. They were fine when it came to sending someone out 4 times trying to get 2nd and 3rd opinions and trying to fix it, but when all of the contractors said it needs replaced, they found a way to weasel out of it. I'll be out of pocket for the expense, but I'll be rid of this company and that's a win.

I purchased Home Choice when I first purchased my home which was 4 years ago. I called for them to unclog my guest tub and fix the leak underneath my kitchen sink. Someone came out, he didnt know how to unclog the tub, he had to look on youtube for assistance, so they don't offer highly qualified service. When it came to the plumer fixing my kitchen sink, he stated he needed authorization to fix it and Home Choice will contact me. I waited for some days for them to contact me and never did. I called to speak with the plumbing co.pany to see when they were coming back out because the water is still leaking underneath my sink. I was told he was waiting on authorization from Home Choice. I called Home Choice, they said authorization was given. Home Choice begin to give me the run arounds by saying they are waiting and I should wait on an email. I asked the individual in customer service how long because water is still leaking and it sitting on the bottom panel underneath my sink. She said she didn't know. I was really upset because they suppose to provide quality service and I have not received that, I'm very disappointed. No one is able to tell me anything and I've been paying for this service for four years, when it's time for me to use it, it's a problem. I will not renew the service.

Choice home warranty will deny your claim 06/27/2019): I wrote to Mr Norman S the case manager they assigned to my claim, I want to let you know that the compressor has failed and is now in need of replacement due to normal wear and tear; of the compressor. Educate yourself about what other reasons this compressor can fail. I understand you will find a way to work your way out of a claim. You have done it before Numerous customers have called Choice Home Warranty out for using loopholes to get out of paying for repairs. It was also recently fined by the state of New Jersey for deceptive advertising practices. Those not willing to risk a similar headache avoiding home warranties altogether. The reason for you to offer $200 to cover the cost of labor is not out good will like you said; it's because you know you have made the wrong decision. I found this online 06/27/2019): Deceptive advertising has earned Choice Home Warranty a bad name. Loopholes often allow the company to either not replace your appliances and systems or offer you a petty cash reimbursement rather than a full repair. The Choice Home Warranty appliance replacement protocol also receives a lot of flak. They sometimes offer cash in lieu of a repair if they feel an item cannot be easily replaced, but that doesn’t mean the cash will be a completely fair reimbursement.. People should know more before dealing with companies like choice home warranty. I will make sure of that. First email from home choice home warranty After careful review, it has been determined that the refrigerator is not cooling properly as a result of a refrigerant leak in the sealed system. Second email about 3 minutes apart After careful review, it has been determined that the compressor has failed and is now in need of replacement. The compressor is still covered under a manufacturers warranty for both parts and labor. You may contact the equipment provider for repair and/or replacement. I wrote back to choise home warranty. 06/25/2019): Parts are cover by lg but not labor. Every body should know more about this company.

When a service Rep. Tells you the coverage, you automatically assume that everything listed is covered FULLY. although when you put in a claim they tell you it is not covered. They are quick to take a consumer's money although when it comes time to repair something they will make every excuse possible not to try and fix it. They do not send you a detailed copy of what's covered and what's not covered. They explain that to you after they DENY your claim. And waiting on a call back from this company will NOT happen. You have to call them for an explanation as to why claims are denied. This company is fraudulent and does not care about their clientele. They care about the funds coming in. Aliceson S, case specialist, does not listen to her clients although she is willing to talk over you and not perform a simple task of calling the company that should be doing the work. She is very rude and is ready to deny any coverage that they say they cover. Any which way to cut corners and not fix the problem they will definitely do. I wouldn't go back to this company at all. The FOUNDER/CEO should look in to this issue and address it. When selling the product, potential customers should be advised of what's covered and what's not. Even a simple email would suffice, but they're just ready to lock in a new customer and are willing to sell a lie. I wish I would have known this a few years ago.

Total scam and sales reps flat out lie. I called and asked numerous questions bf purchasing . Sales reps just try and up grade you to better plans. I told them I had bought a house and had older AC units and they said as long as the units were working and I ha a home inspection done I was good . I had a home inspection . One unit went out and tech came out and said the unit needed replaced as bad coil . They denied the claim and said coils failed because of acidic conditions in the unit from the air . They are a carbon copy of the movie " The Raimnmaker " with claim denials . Im going o take them to small claims court and ge ta. judgment as they have zero proof of what they say happened . They're liars, they will completely falsify reasons to deny your claim. When you present them with evidence that they are lying, they will just repeat their lie and then cut off contact. Beware. Any expensive claim will be denied regardless of the circumstances. You'd be better off going to a reputable company or just putting what you planned to put into a premium into savings to pay for future repairs. The way the scam works is you pay the premium, then you pay a deductible to get a technician onsite each time whether they decide to cover the repair or not. They might cover a small repair where you already basically paid for it with the deductible, but any claim over a certain threshold will be universally denied. Look at Yelp or the Better Business Bureau for real reviews (1 star) They brag about their consumer affairs score, but they are Consumer Affairs "accredited". Which means they pay Consumer Affairs a subscription fee to help manage their reputation. Look for an unbiased source. I called in for an air conditioner not turning on. They sent out a tech a couple days later to look at it. I paid the deductible and he advised us that the compressor had failed noting the age of the unit and submitted the claim and diagnosis to CHW. CHW denied the claim citing owner maintenance as the catch all, subjective loophole to avoid paying the claim. We called the tech that looked at the unit and asked if he submitted that diagnosis. He said he did not and sent the following statement by email: Choice home warranty issued a work order to look at your air conditioner on June 18, 2019. (Redacted) arrived and diagnose the problem as a failed compressor. The cause of the failure is unknown. (Redacted) submitted a diagnosis with cost to choice home warranty for compressor replacement. Diagnosis was denied. I appealed the rejected claim and was assigned a case manager. I supplied the technician's statement and was was still denied. Initially, the rep claimed that the technician told them that it was a user maintence issue until I shared that I knew that was not true and I have evidence that her statement was false. The story then changed to "we have pictures from the tech that we based the determination on.". When I demanded the pictures or any evidence supporting their determination, the rep told me that I am not allowed to see those, they are for internal use only. As I continued to press for a reasonable explanation, the rep hung up on me. She also did not return or acknowledge any of the 3 emails I sent her. She called my wife once to tell her it was denied, but did not call me directly until the day after I called, left a message, and called the main number demanding an explanation. Since then I've had another company can me out and look at it, and they agree that this was not a maintenance issue. I filed a BBB complaint and consumer affairs complaint. I keep being told that someone will reach out to me. It's been 3 days. Nobody is reaching out.

My AC Unit went out (blowing hot air) on 6/19/19. I set up a claim and on 6/20/19 the technician came out. He stated that the freon was low and i needed to do a leak check, which was $350.00 which was not covered by CHW and is separate from the Service Charge in order to have a claim with CHW. $410 later low and behold we have a leak. Pictures were taken and a claim submitted to CHW. On 6/21/19 - my claim was denied stating "the coil developed a leak...." "...corrosive materials" "....not covered" "....your appliances are covered during normal wear and tear...." "...denied". Well I'm not an A/C person so I wouldn't be opening up any units, therefore, if I am covered from failure due to normal wear and tear and it developed a leak like CHW stated - How is this a denial of a claim??? Appeals process on going now... STAY AWAY

This is the second time I have requested a repair and the tec does not show up to my house AFTER accepting the assignment. My AC brokedown on the hottest day in Florida. I file a claim and it gets assigned immediately to a company that says they will be at my home between 11-3 pm. By 440 im calling since no one has arrived and the Tec picks up and says he will be at my home by 7pm. There was no courtesy callto say he is running late while im sitting in an extremly hot house waiting. By 710pm I call back and he says hes 30 mins away. By 830pm he stopped answering my call. Extremely unprofessional and I am very disappointed in the companies Choice home warranty work with. This is the second time I have been through this. SO im literally paying all year around just to get poor service when i need it. For the record there is only 24/7 claim assistance, its ONLY to file a new claim anything else your out of luck.

I wished I had of read the reviews of this company before i wasted my money. I am sitting in a house that registers 92 degrees. I made a claim and they didnt send a tech out to 3 days later. We suffered in the heat...I paid him 75 dollars hoping to have my unit fixed just so he can tell me the unit is completely gone 😕 He begged me to buy a new unit from him of 7500 I told him I pay for a warranty and I'd rather they fixed it. He calls them and says he doubts if they will fix it. I Get an email saying they are not responsible for the replacement of the unit do to corrosion of the coils in the compressor. So what will choice warranty pay for? Scam Company!

If I could give ZERO starts I would. If you are looking at this company for your home warranty- DONT. I had two issues, my washing machine broke and so did my oven (around the same time). I submitted a claim and was told someone would come out with in 48 hours, great! Prior to a tech coming out to my home, I received a phone call urging me to renew my policy and if I did, they would waive the $75 service fee. The renewal policy was $510 for 13 months. I told the rep that before I renew, I want to see what CHW does for these two claims before proceeding. She kept pushing me to renew right then and there. I finally told her no, we would wait until these two claims have been completed to see if we want to renew. I'm SO thankful that I didn't renew. This was such a joke. The tech came out and said our washer was shot and needed a new one. Fine. He stated he could fix our oven and would get that submitted. Two days later, I received an email stating that they would give me $299 for my washing machine (WHAT!)- a comparable washing machine now -a-days is $700+ on the low end. We discussed with an agent about the price and he indicated that "in their clause" they state that they don't have to pay up to the retail value. Dumb. Then, I got an email stating "Great news- we have decided to replace your oven instead of fix it- here is $699 to help towards a new oven." My oven is a double wall oven built into the cabinets. I googled and the cheapest wall double wall oven at 27" was $1600. I dont know how they can use the phrase "replace" when they are giving me less than 1/2 of the unit itself. I called to again to complain asking how they justify this. I had her google double wall ovens and she kept repeating "per our policy, we don't match size or color, we provide what is comparable to what you have". I'm not sure how they can state that as again it is less than 1/2 of the actual value of a double oven. So here I am $510 out of pocket for a policy + $75 service fee ($585 out of pocket). They give me $1000 to "replace" my appliances. If you take what they gave me $1000- what I paid for the policy and visit $585- I'm left with $415 to replace $2300 worth of appliances. While I am in the positive $415 out of the deal- the headache and disappointment wasn't worth it. I have heard from many people that their home warrantees replace 100%, this company cheats you out of your money. I would NOT get involved with them. Period.

Do not get involved with this company. Our AC claimed was denied, the agent told me it was denied because the compressor over heated and shorted out. The technician’s report never said anything about over heating or shorting out. I called the technician to verify & he assured me that he never said or reported that it over heated & shorted out. The agent then called the technician and claimed she never told me it over heated & shorted out, his report still says the compressor failed to work & that everything else is in working order. We are now locked out of accessing the original report. I was warned that they will talk circles in order to deny the claim. Although the agents tone of voice is pleasant, she’s basically saying this claim is denied and you’re to stupid to understand why. This has been a waste of money & time. I see that others have had a very similar experience.
