Really awful. We were purchasing a new house, and we needed to pick a home warranty company. I called around, and chose Choice Home Warranty because I was told that I could hire my own service people. Bottom Line: While it is technically true that, after much haggling, you can hire your own service people, you will have trouble being reimbursed. Especially if you have multiple issues to be fixed. I ended up being re-imbursed for less than half of my costs. Details, if you want them: Their website only allows you to open claims for which you will receive (or not ever receive) one of their repair people (not of your own choosing). I opened a claim on the website, and they said they were sending someone. The person never arrived though we had waited at home for him. I called the phone number of the repair person that CHW had provided to me, and he said "I don't do work for CHW ... I had considered it, but never actually signed up." Wow. So, they said they were sending someone else. That person was supposed to arrive 5 or 6 different times, and each time we waited for him. Never showed. Another technician was scheduled, with same results. Finally, I updated the case, and asked "How do I get my own plumber"? And, finally, they opened a new, magical kind of ticket where my plumber had to submit his findings and get approval of his repairs. We did all of that. It seemed really mysterious to my plumber, and I warn you that your plumber needs to be tech savvy and patient. My claim was for 3 problems. I got reimbursed for the first 2 repairs. But, for the 3rd repair which was much more expensive ... well, it took longer to be repaired. And, meanwhile, my plumber gave me an invoice for the first 2 repairs, which I submitted to CHW. They paid that, and closed the open ticket that I had with them. Hmmm. I no longer have a ticket. I asked, at that time: How do I get reimbursed for the 3rd item? They said, Open a new Ticket. Later, after gathering the invoices I needed, I did open a new ticket for reimbursement. I didn't get reimbursed. Why? They weren't clear. First, they said, in writing, that it is because I hired my own plumber and didn't get approval for the repairs. But, that isn't true. I had the approval on the claim that they closed. I asked for a manager to call me, and he couldn't clearly tell me why I wasn't getting reimbursed, but he stated firmly that I'm not getting reimbursed. (They didn't even know the cost of the repair. It could be $10 or $10,000. But it is denied. Actually, it was $1,300.) Why was it denied? The manager said that basically, I waited too long after the previous claim was closed to open the new claim asking for reimbursement of the 3rd item. However, he didn't say how long is too long. I repeated that reason back to him on the phone, and he said: "Well, I'm not saying that for sure ...." What? So, it seems they have secret rules about what you must do to get reimbursed. These don't seem to be documented anywhere. I was "too late opening the new claim" after they closed my original claim after they had paid for 2 out of the 3 repairs on the claim. If you use them, good luck. Tread carefully. I will never again use Choice Home Warranty. The entire experience was really a lot of trouble, even when I did get reimbursed. If you have a job, you don't have time to mess with them.

This is the worst Home Warrenty company I’ve ever dealt with. We had a plumbing claim a few months ago and they said they could not find anyone in our area to come out. There are thousands of plumbers in this area. Now we have a dishwasher claim being denied due to abuse. How do you abuse a dishwasher? Your agent said the technician told him that. I talked to the technician and he said he NEVER said that. He said it was normal wear and tear. Your agent lied to me to deny the claim. I am going to try to get this elevated to someone else. The only guarantee is that you will take my money and deny all claims.

A dispute between Choice and the vendor who came to my home and diagnosed the problem with my washer resulted in my having to wait a week and a half for another appointment for a diagnosis…only to be stood up by that vendor. I was then offered and appointment over a week later and then when I complained a further week and a half later. No one told me I could submit the diagnosis rather than the vendor under the Choose Your Vendor program. The dispute between Choice and their vendor resulted in my not having a washing machine for an additional month. I feel that some form of compensation should have been offered and that Choice should have gotten me an appointment much closer to my original date. No effort was made on their part.

Not happy with the determination, sounds too predetermined and a pat answer. If a restriction in the refrigerant line of the HVAC system is automatically considered a contamination of the sealed system and is the result of contaminants or foreign materials in the line and has been decided that this is not normal wear and tear , then this should be in the terms and conditions. This answer was decided too quickly without any time for questions or any response from me, the homeowner or the qualified contractor that CHW sent out to resolve the issue. So far I am not very happy with this CHW. The Contractor, Starr Contractors LLC, however, has been very responsive and competent and I will continue to use them again even if I decide to cancel my contract with CHW!

Cheap deductible but terrible service. Denied my claim for plumbing stoppage and I had to pay 200 out of pocket. I went to cancel my policy and they tried offering me 150 out of 200 put pf pocket expenses back but I said no I just want to cancel. After speaking to the plumber I am not the only one who gets their claims denied and choice home warranty denies many claims. Save your money and go with someone else.

I had a claim filed it took over 60days to get the check. I have had services scheduled an no one calls or shows up. I have had services rescheduled with no notification for my furnace when it was 35 degrees out !! I have had service providers make me pay over 75$ for services. I think CHW needs alot of improving before I would ever recommend them to anyone or buy them again!!

Choice home warranty is the worst. I purchased a warranty through them with a house that I used to own. I have since sold the home and I don't need the warranty anymore. But I get phone calls after phone calls after phone calls after phone calls after phone calls after I've told them numerous times that I don't own the home anymore to stop calling me. You would think that these people or the managers would stop wasting their workers time calling people that don't want the warranty. But somehow they think you're going to break down and buy one just to get rid of the harassing phone calls. Time after qtime after time day after day after day they will call you and they will lie to you I actually have one phone call today telling me that my realtor when I bought the home never paid for the warranty. I get other phone calls telling me that my warranty was about to run out and the warranty ran out 3 months ago. They will tell you anything they will lie to you and if you do purchase their warranty and you decide that you don't want it anymore or you move they will keep calling you until you change your phone number it will never end. No matter how nice you are on the phone to the person they are nice back to you and they will tell you that they'll escalate the request to their superiors. But that's the problem these managers don't care and they don't care about you so please read this review and do not purchase anything from choice home warranty unless you like headaches then I recommend if you do to go ahead and purchase one.

Call service came out to repair a job and left. The next day my refrigerator was still leaking water. I called the repair technician and he never answered. I emailed him from the survey but no one responded. I tried calling Choice the automated voice messenger kept sending me back to the start. I then emailed Choice and no one responded. Once I sent Choice an email saying I was a new customer and then I got calls and emails. Once I told the representative that the repair did not fix the issue and he said he will put the job back in under the same job number and I was to call A&E Service to schedule the appointment, I did call but they had no record of what Choice was suppose to have entered. So I called Choice back and of course got a different representative and as I explained to her what had been going on she stated that I would have to pay another $85.00 come out fee for the same issue which was totally opposite then what I was told by another representative an hour ago. Bottom line I felt like I was given the run around just to get over 30 days and have to pay another $85.00 for the same issue is totally ridiculous!!! As if today, a full week later Im still waiting on a call from the service provider I assume!!! Dissatisfied Customer, Mark

My dishwasher finally got fixed today April 2nd It has been out of service since March the 6th Choice home warranty failed at every aspect of getting my appliance repaired First I initiated the claim on March the 6th they were to begin working on a clan within 4 hours . Its hard to tell if they did or not When I filed a claim I was told I would get a call back within 24 hours that did not happen So two days later I called again and customer service said I should not have been told 24 hours it should have been told 24 to 48 hours so I waited another day Nothing happened so I called back they said that someone would call within 24 hours Meanwhile I got an email saying that they're having trouble getting a technician to service my request in a timely manner and would I like to take over this job myself. I looked at their draconian procedure for getting my rermbursed on the repair and decided this looked like it's a trap for me so I declined the offer Next day still no call from Choice Home Warranty So I called again the next day and asked if my claim could be escalated since it had been so long and I have heard nothing I was told that a dishwasher repair is not classified as an emergency repair therefore I would take longer. I reminded them that I found nothing in my policy segregating emergency repairs from non-emergency repairs. I must say that their policy is very cleverly written and does not absolutely commit them to a timely repair under any circumstances. I was told to expect a call within 24 hours I waited a day and nothing happened So, I called the next day and asked how my escalated claim was being serviced They said they had no record of it being escalated, as they told me two days before. So I asked them to please escalate it and forward me to the resolution department I was told that the situation will be absolutely resolved and I should expect to call in 24 hours Nothing happened in 24 hours so I called the next day Finally I got an email from Sears stating that appointment have been set. You would think that they would call so we can coordinate calendars but they did not So of course I changed my calendar to coordinate with theirs since such a long time had taken place The technician was 2 hours late beyond the 8 to 12 appointment window. He showed up a little after 2:00 but was polite and diagnosed the problem Said he was sorry he didn't have the part and he'd have to come back that will be two more weeks The part was shipped to my house and another technician installed it today finally this is over What's so hilarious about this is that during this time frame I received multiple phone calls from choice home warranty asking me if I wanted to renew my policy What do you think I said I will be surprised if this review is read by anyone of significant authority and I doubt if they respond in kind other than saying my goodness we are so sorry I thought choice home warranty was rated number one in the country If this is true I wonder what the experience with the other home warranty companies is Mine was horrible 27 days to install a simple part in a dishwasher is totally unacceptable I guess I have to live with the fact that the dishwasher repair is not classified as an emergency repair according to choice home warranty Well maybe they would like to discuss that with my wife, she has a very different opinion again I bet no one will respond to this and any meaningful way

I've had nothing but trouble with Choice with an ac unit replacement. After 6 months a new unit was installed by one of their "vetted and professional" technicians. Well, 4 months later the unit isn't working. There's zero freon in it, the insulation on the plumbing is falling off, there's no drip pan installed inside in the attic when the plumbing attaches to the furnace, and the company did not follow township regulations and pull a permit. Not surprisingly, neither Choice nor I am able to get a hold of the technician for them to work on it, even though I had a one year labor guarantee with the technician. They only option Choice has offered me is to start a new claim and pay additional co-pays. I've also been told multiple times by Choice that I have maxed out my cap for heating and cooling and they won't be paying for any additional expenses in that functional area. Do not buy a home warranty with this company.

We went 2 weeks without heat using little electric heaters waiting for a technician. By the time Choice finally sent someone out I had made arrangements to buy a new furnace. $6000. You cannot wait that long for heat in Michigan in Winter. Please refund my $45. YOu dropped the ball on this one. I would also request $250. toward my new furnace.

When I signed on 6 years ago they put on a great spell. If we can’t fix it, we’ll replace it. What they didn’t tell you is they will not give fair market value replacement. My washer was only 6 years old and died overnight. The technician was supper and said it would cost too much to fix. Well choice was all happy to offer me $343 for my washer and go buy a new one. Ok, that is not fair market value. Show me where you can buy a washer for $343. The most economical washer I could find, same style and make came up to $771. Yup, I will not recommend anyone to go with this choice warranty company. If I could give a no star review I will.

I am at a loss of where to start as I don't want this review to go unread due to the length, so I want to keep it short. I feel it's very important buyers should be aware of this company and the frustration, time, and energy they may cause you, so I will bullet point the experience you should expect if you still choose to use their services after this list. *TIME WASTED (I have spent about 36.5 hours on the phone with Choice Warranty for ONE appliance request, which is STILL pending a fix since November 2021) *MONEY (Along with my time, went my money and not having this appliance in my home has to caused more money spend to complete this chore) *FRUSTRATION (The hours spent going round and round with customer service agents and the techs who are supposedly working on a fix) *LIES (From service dates, to costs, to what will and will not be done, it was all lies) *NO COMMUNICATION (They do not let you know if, when, or what is going on with the tech or your work order) Their motto should be... Choice Warranty - Using us would be a Bad Choice!

Dont pay for this UNTIL you have a copy of the contract. What the sales team tells you is NOT what you will get! Even when you have a dishwasher go bad that they cover, they will not replace it, they will offer $200 to replace it..the service rep told me it was 827.00 to replace it. They had no reason just said that was the best offer they could do. After arguring with them for a few weeks they gave me a total of $400. They have more clasues for not paying than you can imagine. They have George Foreman advertising that if they cant fix it they will replace it. That is not true! They did not replace it.

The schedules repair for my refrigerator took 2 weeks. The Tech needs what was wrong 2 minutes but had to order a replacement part and it will take another 2 weeks to install. 4 weeks with out a refrigerator is much to Iong.

On the day of my service call, Otis the technician came to my home on time and promptly diagnosed the problem I had with my washer. I was issued a E- Gift card as my payment for a new washer. Only complaint I have with Choice Warranty is the $343 dollar amount that was issued for my purchasing a new washer. Almost impossible to purchase new washer for that price. Further, the E-Gift card will be arriving in 30 DAYS!! Now that really stinks. Technician Grade- A Choice Warranty Grade- D

your assigned value to replace an appliance with one of similar function is ridiculously low. You insist that the value is based on "what we can get it for" is insane as that value is less than wholesale. your values imply that the markups for the appliances is 100% to 300 %, which is insane. I have had two claims with your company and repair is never attempted in leu of "replacement" using a bogus value. I will never renew your service as it really is very little help in replacing the appliances as we pay the premium as well as 50 to 75% of the actual cost of replacement. I'll save myself the aggravation!

My water heater was leaking and it took them over a week to have someone over to check it out. My appointments were canceled twice with two different contractors and they didn't notify me. There is horrible communication between them and contractors. My first appointment was almost 10 days out. I called the contractor to see if there was an earlier appointment and they told me that they notified Choice that they will not be able to fit me in to their schedule. Choice was suppose to assign me a different contractor and they didn't. Second contractor, My appointment was set for 3 days later on a Friday from 3-8, which I was okay with. Its 8:30 and no one showed up so I called the contractor just to find out that they stopped working with Choice 2 days before and again, Choice failed to communicate that to me and they failed to look for someone else to fix my water heater. I called them Saturday but since it was the weekend, they weren't able to find anyone to come. They were finally able to find a contractor to come over. On the Monday the 14th, I received and email of the upcoming appointment for the 16th from 11-3. I called the contractor to re-schedule for a later time because I don't get home until after 3. Come to find out that the contractor had told Choice that he was going to be able to come but until after 5 and that same day, not the 16th like the email said. I am not sure were the disconnect is but there is definitely something wrong and It need serious attention. I am not even going to talk about their customer support experience. They definitely do not know how to talk to people and it seems like they are just reading off script in a screen.

LIKES: submitting a claim online is easy. response to email or online message is prompt. DISLIKES: when purchasing the warranty, it was said that my area has numerous contractors. my claims have included no one from my area. and they are slow to respond.

So far, my experience with Choice Home Warranty was in signing up. The person I spoke with was in a huge hurry. He was not very helpful and I forgot to ask several questions. Then I spoke to 4 other people trying to get something clarified. I still don't know if my policy is correct. I'm not sure about the online portion of this service. You don't log in with a password but your email address and policy number...odd to say the least. The coupon presented in the email is pretty close to a bait and switch. Somehow or another, the price quoted "includes" the free month. They say they would normally give you an extra (13th month) free but if you don't pay for an entire year in advance, well, you don't get the discount or the extra month. Pretty shaky start. I had to call back to add pool coverage. The person said i would receive an email with that update. Never received the email. I haven't been able to download or read my contract. I never signed anything for a contract, but I did order month-to-month service. So this is my experience so far. Maybe Choice will be an amazing service provider, but all I know is what I've experienced so far in the last few days. Not a great start Choice Home Warranty. So the true test will be if anyone reads this and either emails or calls me to follow up. I'm betting they don't. But I will certainly amend my review if they do.

i have used this company for frig. dishwasher 2 times and cloths washer, i have never had a good experience!!!! they hane never backed up theyre waranty the way they said they would. when they said if they cant fix they will replace they give you 199,00 and tell you to buy a 1600,00 dollar frig with it, They will give you an excuse for not being able to fix machine ex. they said the techs for my dishwasher where not qualified techs when they where the ones that sent the techs to my house. it took them 3 mouths to tell me to techs. couldnt fix it, this company is a sham and doesnt stand by its guarantee

-1 star would not recommend!!Choice Home Warranty in my opinion one of the worst home warranty companies I have ever done business with I have been waiting 3 months for a water heater repair due to incompetence on the service provider and Choice delays in approval for additional parts needed to finish a simple job ! Also recent declined a repair for my furnace stating it was a maintenance issue and not their responsibility. I paid for a second opinion on the job and the plumbing company stated no preventable Maintainance would have stopped the secondary heat exchanger failure as it is a common issue and design issue in the carrier units older than 10years and a carrier warranty part , just needed labor covered . Choice declined payment on the claim and breaking the contract outlined in the total home warranty I purchased . I have been without heat for over a week in freezing Midwest weather while choice has no sense of urgency to reply to my supporting information and documentation of the issue that should be covered . Don’t be fooled by the sales people saying everything is covered because they will decline the claims to avoid payment on valid claims .

Highly NOT Recommended. I would like to give "NO" stars as its not worth it. People working at Choice home warranty are very rude. Our stove wasn't working, out of 4 burners 3 burners are not working. Choice sent two technician to double check the issue. Both the technician mentioned that all four infinity switches and stove glass top needs to replaced. With that said, our ovan door had some issue. According to Choice Home Warranty, door doesnt fall in "Normal" Wear and tear issues and hence they couldnt repair or replace the stove. When escalated by us, we were assigned case manager AZFAR ALI for our Stove, who was the most rude person to talk to. He kept on saying this is not Normal etc etc. and same issue . We added the technician on our call who provided the report. He asked the technician whats the cost of repairing the switches and stove glass top. When technician told him the cost of the repair work. He mentioned to us, that this is not normal situation for repair and this comes under safety. If this is not normal then what is a normal situation. If the case manager says this falls under safety issue, it highly needs to be replaced or repaired. I would highly recommend NO Choice Home warranty, if anyone are considering.

I've had Choice Home Warranty for almost eight years. During that time I've had a few claims. The smaller claims were covered with no issues but I've had two that not so minor and they gave me quite a hassle. The first one was my dish washer stopped working. They found the problem but determined it didn't make sense to repair; it would be better to replace. They offered me $200 towards the cost of a new system even though that was just less than 50% the cost of repair. I escalated the issue and was offered $300 instead. No matter what I tried; they would not cover the total cost of repair towards the purchase of a new system. Recently I had an issue with the HVAC unit not producing enough heat. Even before my system was ever opened and a diagnosis done; my claim was denied with a reason that there's no way to determine without a diagnosis. After the diagnosis was done; my claim again was again denied this time with a new reason. I filed an appeal; and again a new test was required but that also resulted in a claim denial. I performed three different tests and they showed I have a bad defrost board and a leak in the evaporator coils. The cause of the leak was undetermined. Choice denied my claim stating a leak like this could only come from rust or corrosion. This was not determined by any of the technicians and the only reason that would cause an exclusion under my policy. After many escalations; I was offered $300 towards replacing the defrost board but nothing for the evaporator coils replacement. Last time I renew my policy; I made the mistake of doing a 5 year contract. I just found out that I cannot cancel my policy; or if I do; I would not get a refund on my remaining years.
