We called on a A/C issue and an appointment was set up in a couple of days. The technician was on time and diagnosed the issue as a dead"common" line. The Nest thermostat would not function with this dead line. An old manual thermostat was installed since the common line is not needed for operation, the A/C is now working. The request to trace the common line was denied since it's requirement was only for an electronic thermostat which is not covered.

As it turned out the price to fix our microwave exceeded the microwave's wholesale value so it was determined that it could not be repaired. The option given was a replacement cost associated with the microwave's wholesale value, which was not addressed in the contract, which was also given as less than half of its total retail cost. In fact, Choice does not "replace" the defective equipment, but rather suggests a replacement cost in lieu of "replacement", which is also not clearly spelled out in the contract.

Initial tech was a no call no show at my house 2 days in a row - missed 2 days off work foe that. The techs that finally came out were extremely nice. The amount they offered didn’t even cover half of what it cost to replace microwave. Was expected to go out and buy a microwave that was on sale for a limited time. There is no definition of what the companies actual cost is (all it says is that it may be less than retail) and they don’t have any way to explain what their actual cost is - so they just make up a number. Hard to believe the companies actual cost is 40% less than a sale item on retail..

Second tech was great (Meyers). Fixed prob simply. New Capacitor. First guy (AHRS) was telling me we probably needed whole new system, and then he never followed up, even after multiple calls from me over about three days. We were without AC for almost a week in June in NC. Not good. Service and responsiveness from CHW staff was good, but the wait on the first contractor was ridiculous.

Getting appointment was a great experience but trying to appeal a claim which should be converse especially with air conditioning that’s not working and getting an email saying that there’s annoying my claim and saying that was rust and corrosion where the leak is it’s not true because it’s a copper pipe that’s leaking has nothing to do with anything around the area there is no rust there which the technician agrees upon the same thing that I’m saying I’m not happy right now I also have asthma and I cannot afford to be without air-conditioning

I was very pleased the first couple claims I placed. But this last one concerning an electrical problem was very disappointing. The first electrician set up to come out never showed or called. Then it took a lot of emails to Choice to finally have our problem looked at. I must say tho that the electrician that was sent out finally was extremely good! Our policy is coming up for renewal and we will not be renewing simply because of the length of time it to you to finally have our problem fixed!!!

I was refereed by my father, so I signed up. When I made my first claim for my washing machine I was shocked to find out that the replacement process would take 30 days for a gift card from a specific Vendor. This process was not explained to me, when they signed me up. they were more interested in up selling me additional product Choice Home Warranty offers. I also find sticking me with a gift card to a specific vendor is a bit distasteful. I am not going to wait 30 days to replace my washing machine, I will purchase a new one, but I will be stuck with a Loews gift card that I may or may not use. :(

When I first made the claim, the technician assigned did not show up. I emailed the company and requested a reliable technician and this time I was not disappointed. The technician assigned fixed the problem and made sure it was done correctly.

I would have given 5 stars if I had not had to wait three days for service on my air conditioner. Rick the tec was very good. I was disappointed to learn that the repair would not cover draining the water out of my unit. I think the warranty should have covered that. This was the first time I had used Choice Warranty.

Choice Home Warranty was top notch. Made my claim on a Sunday night and the repair man was there Monday morning. I would have gave 5 stars bit my repair man waited 3 days to fix it. My stuff in the refrigerator was starting to get warm. I will definitely renew my plan if the rates don't go up.

Overall I am please with services rendered for claims filed on A/C units, washer and dryer, and stove. I have had problems with 1 washer/driver contractor which I requested never to be assigned to me again. I was a little disappointed with a claim filed for the water pipe emergency I had where the water val had to be cut off to prevent the pipe from blowing and CHW could provide anyone for a couple of days so I had to contact another means for correcting the problem for $800.00+ with no reimbursement or offset of cost from CHW.

Called Choice on Thursday regarding a plumbing issue. They had a service person out to the house for inspection as soon as Saturday morning. The customer service agent with whom i spoke with was very professional. A follow-up email was sent to me regarding my appointment...twice as a reminder and confirmation.

Assigning a service tech was quick. He knew his stuff and did a good job installing a new water heater. Unfortunately the warranty didn’t cover the water heater since I hadn’t drained the sediment so I had to foot the entire bill. At least we got the work done quickly.

The very best part of Choice Home Warranty, is that if they don't have a repair company available for my issue, I can go and get who I want and they'll be reimbursed. ESPECIALLY if it's a rush issue, this is way more convenience since their vendors may be busy and we wouldn't get an appointment in a timely manner.

I had a plumbing stoppage. The technician they sent was excellent. He submitted his diagnosis and got approval to complete the repair quickly. The only downside was the time it took for them to find a reliable company to resolve the issue.

I feel that CHW has decided that I’ve made too many claims and that it is no longer advantageous for them to pay anymore claims. I paid for 3 years of coverage right out of the gate which I now know was the worst thing I could’ve done. I’ve had some very unprofessional and rude conversations with a couple of CHW employees who told me that they are basically upside down financially when it comes to my home warranty plan due to a major appliance going out. It almost feels like a HMO that no longer wants to cover a member due to too many claims.

I have had 5/6 calls to fix my ice maker since Nov 2020 which cost me $240 plus all the items I had to throw away. Finally in Feb 2021 the ice maker was fixed until May 2021. The repair man that came today said it was low on freon so he added some. He said if this happens again there must be a leak in the system and that the refrigerator should be replaced. I hope so. I am tired of throwing out items I have purchased.

Technicians were promptly dispatched for couple of issues I had, and they did their job well too. However, even after calling CHW thrice to confirm waiver of service call fee as promised, it still was not communicated to the technician, due to which there was a delay of half an hour.

Unfortunately, I was very disappointed!! Had to wait 3 weeks to get a technician who knew what was wrong with my washer. The 1st guy that came out wasn’t interested in fixing anything just wanted the $60. So I had to call & get someone else out. That took another 10 days because the next technician never showed up & I had 5 missed/ no show. Finally I got a technician to come out who really knows what he was doing so I could get the washer replaced.

Repairs are handled by different contractors every time and most of the time are done right. Problems begin when a covered appliance is not reparable and needs to be replaced. It takes weeks to negotiate replacement price and months to finally get a check. It was suppose to be "if we cannot fix, we replace it". Yeah!!! You can expect to get 1/4 what it will cost you to replace an appliance. My freezer died last year and I spent $855 to replace it with a smaller one. Two months later I got a check for $466.80. Recently my dishwasher had to be replaced I'm waiting to get a check for $246.00 and that after I paid $65.00 for service call! Don't buy this warranty. It is just a waste of money.

This is the first time I've needed to call for maintenance service. The representative was extremely pushy to increase our length of coverage. Reluctantly we did increase the length of coverage from 1 year to 3 1/2 years. Overall this I did get to tell him about my maintenance issue, but he said that I needed to call back tomorrow. I find this unsatisfactory practice.

We like not having to worry about getting home systems fixed, however CHW has struggled in the past to find companies that service SE CT. In this case the offer to let you find your own tech, however the process is cumbersome requiring the tech to visit, diagnose the problem then wait for CHW to decide whether they are going to authorize the repair. Finally, if they decide to replace an appliance, it may take some time to get the payment from them (be prepared to buy out of pocket and wait for them to send you the funds.

The repair person came on time and replaced the garbage disposal. However, when I ran the dishwasher, the water gushed out of the air gap on top of the sink, flooding the counter and floor.! When I called him to report this, he immediately knew what he failed to do and returned the next day to do a quick fix, removing a small plug.

I like the initial process for opening a claim, but it seems the contractors have issues being able to handle a repair in one visit. They come, assess, then have to get approval, and the repairs take days or weeks to complete. I've had to make follow up calls with Choice and that shouldn't be part of the process.

Very disappointed in the handling of the last 2 claims. 1st claim ended without completing the repairs of the appliance. The CHW assigned technician worked on the appliance twice. After the 2nd time he told us there was another part that needed to be changed to complete the repair. The technician then reported to CHW that the repairs were complete and the claim was closed. When I questioned this, CHW informed me that there was no recourse other than to submit another claim & if I cancelled my coverage there is no rebate on the unused premium. Surprise! In previous communication with CHW I was told that I could select a repair company and have them assigned to a claim. I submitted a 2nd claim to repair the appliance that included the name of a repair service. CHW ignored my request and assigned a repair company for the claim. I obviously cancelled the appointment with the assigned repair service and had the repairs completed by the company I selected. Just as a note, the 2nd repair technician found that the parts installed by the CHW assigned technician were either the wrong parts or incorrectly installed or both. By this time the broken appliance had been out of service for close to 2 weeks so time was of the essence and I moved forward with getting the machine repaired. When I requested information on submitting the invoice from the 2nd repair service to be reimbursed I was told that since I did not have prior approval my claim was denied. No thanks to CHW the appliance is now working properly and my wife is happy. It's a great day!
