I’m not sure of the caliber of the companies who actually do the work/repairs. Our heater on the 2nd floor went out & it took >10 days to get fixed. They ordered a part & when came to fix realized that wasn’t the problem so had to order another part, etc. Also, this same co. had done the exact same repair 1 1/2 years ago! I asked CHW about that & they didn’t care. It should’ve been under warrant! And I shouldn’t have had to pay another $85!

disappointed I feel the warranty company is being penny wise and dollar foolish I have a big wet spot around my 20+ year old water heater. they will not replace it because the technician could not see where the water was coming from. guess waiting for a full blow out to ruin wall, baseboards and flooring. hope at my age as a senior citizen when it blows I will not be injured.

I’ve actually been a bit disappointed with Choice. I’ve had to wait days, often with no communication, for a response to an issue AND, I cyber past months, I had a job done, tbe problem returned quickly snd I had to pay a second call-out fee! I emailed Choice that I felt my first $85 should have been returned but had no answer. I will probably cancel my contract and go rlsewhere

They were supposed to be here between 7am and 11 am and got here around 2 pm. They didn't have the part, but it is a very old dishwasher, so I don't blame them for that, but it will be a week before they will be able to fix it. They were very nice and thought I needed a new DW, but either way I would use them again.

Website is very easy to use and stay on top of any open claims. BUT recently I filed a claim for a non working exhaust fan and then cancelled it when the fan started working again. Got the cancellation note from CHW BUT they never cancelled the technician who thought he was still supposed to come out the day of the (prior) appointment. Very sloppy...

When filing a claim, they are good. But when it comes to time for repair. If a tech says it need to be done a certain way for them not to have to comeback, to fix it rite way. It will be whole lot cheaper to do it than ha e to come back. Going to cost u more.too the warranty people.

They repair was quick! We have two more issues that are different appliances. Not happy about having to pay 2 more times for someone to come out when the first person was qualified to repair all three appliances.

I am unsatisfied that I had to wait almost a month to get my oven fixed. I Had to call many times to figure out what was going on. I have several small children in the house including a disabled one and was unable to bake anything in the oven for them during the holidays. That kind of ruin holiday cooking and baking. I understand the holidays and many places are busy, but some things should be prioritized. I felt like we were not important. They sent someone (Sears) out who did not fix it, the man just looked at it and took my service fee. He stated they were not allowed to fix it because he could not find a model number. So I had to call and let home choice know and see what was going to happen. They put in another claim and I had to wait for a service person to accept. The company that finally came out was the same company that came two years ago and fixed the SAME PROBLEM. The second service man was great, very nice, and remembered fixing it the last time. When he was done he said I had a service fee and I explained to him I was told by Choice I would not have to pay that again. He contacted Choice and they told him I did. I told him I would call and get that straighten out. Which I did. So to make put it politely I am very unhappy with the whole situation. It made my holiday's bad and I paid your company to service me and it should not have taken almost a month to get it fixed.

it took longer to dispatch someone that the promised 24hrs. It took several days to assigned the technician, then a few more days for them to come out and the two problems that were reported, none were addressed during the visit. One needed a different technician nor the one sent... the other one I've received a gift card to apply towards buying a new appliance.

Better communication needs tobe established between the person who needs work done (me) and the contractor/technician who is going to do the work. Many times I have been left without knowing who (if anybody) is going to aleviate my problem. Also, if I select to buy a new applianace I must wait 30 days for your "money" to be sent to me thru email. This is too long. In addition, I am limited to buying my product at Lowes. This limits me in my selection.

We bought our warranty in November 2022. It went into affect in December 2022. On December 24 of 2022 our furnace gave us an error code so we called choice home warranty to get a technician. We were not able to get a technician to look at the furnace until January 6, 2023. After agreeing to paying the up charge for the part to have the furnace fixed sooner , we were able to have the furnace repaired on January 9 of 2023. On December 24, 2022 our hot water tank broke. It had burst the seam at the bottom and was spraying water all over the floor. A technician did come out in a few days but the cost was going to be $400 out of pocket for additional parts that weren’t the hot water tank. After contacting choice home warranty and speaking with an appraiser we found out much to our surprise that we would have to pay the additional 400 to have the tank fixed. After what seemed like a lot of communication and red tape we were able to have a technician come out and replace the tank after we had paid him the additional $400. The tank was not replaced until January 10 2023 so we were without hot water from December 24, 2022 until January 10 of 2023. Definitely not what we signed up for! On a positive note the technicians were very polite and professional. Those guys I WOULD recommend to other people! They are the main reason for the two stars! Certainly not the service.

I chose Choice home warranty because of their prices. I’ve used the service twice, my last experience was a water heater replacement, the job was done perfectly, however, I did not understood after paying my deductible, I could still owe $400. There appeared to be a discrepancy between “unload” and “install”. I spoke with multiple reps and finally got a supervisor who was to address my issue, but it took multiple calls and transfers to reach that person. I eventually gave up. So, I’m not as loyal as I was when I signed on. I don’t believe I should have owed an additional $400.

It takes too long sometimes to get a technician. When there are necessities involved it gets frustrating. Also, sometimes it is hard to understand the accent of the representative. On the positive, the technicians have mostly been really good and helpful. Most of my problems have been handled without fuss.

Their claim process is inconvenient - they give you the first available appointment with the provider they select, then if that doesn’t work your need to change it. In 2 warranty claims, they sent technicians from smaller, less-reputable companies - unlike the other home warranty company that I’ve used. And their parts replacement policy is inferior. They tried to replace a $300 ceiling fan with a $70 unit and said I could pay the difference if I wanted a different one. Would not recommend CHW to anyone who cares about their home. It might work for someone who wants the cheapest warranty and cares less about convenience or quality of materials.

My water heater is leaking and making noise. called choice home warranty. They send out a company with less than a 1 star rating and 1 rating by the better business bureau! Then I get a urgent email from Choice stating it's going to cost me an additional $802 to replace my water heater. I call Choice they can't tell me why I have to pay $802 extra they only tell me to call the technician. I ask for the contact info for the tech company they say that's privileged info. I dig up receipt from tech company that I paid the $65 deductible to buy no phone number or address on receipt. try to Google them the company is listed but no phone numbers on Google or Yelp! We need a reputable plumber

As a company I am o k with Choice Home Warranty- Service reps on time and explains the issue well. Unfortunately between what the vendors tell the customers and what they tell the company must be totally different. Two different vendors told ne the fan motor was old and just needed to be replaced and yes had some dust on it- nothing new for being in an attic- but BOTH vendors told me this did not cause the motor to quit. It was wear and tear and age. However to get this over to the service rep was impossible and she refused to reconsider even what your own vendors had said. Explained she and whoever she reviewed this with had already decided but she was just giving me a call basically as a courtesy to tell they weren't changing their minds. Not sure why you would take the vendors on one part of the claim but not the other

I was very disappointed my recent claim to fix then replacing my built in wall oven was approved for a fraction of the total replacement cost. The approved dollar amount was roughly 1/3 of the total replacement cost ,after HCW determined the wall oven could not be repaired Additionally I was informed I would be provided a gift card for the replacement, however Lowes was the only retail store option offered. And in our case ,Lowes does not stock the wall oven unit we are intending to buy, so therefore we are left with a gift card that cannot used for the needed oven replacement. A universal Visa card would a far better , more customer friendly way to address how and where new appliances can be purchased.

The last reaction that I received for payment for an unfixable dishwasher was not a satisfying one. I bought the Samsung washing machine used and apparently the model number was removed so they would not give me a fair price for the machine. In fact, the money that was offered I could not find any washing machine at that price.

I don't like the fact that there is no emergency service. My toilet was overflowing and leaking. The technician that picked up my claim as of 12/22 has not given me a date for service. Thank goodness the leak around the bottom stopped otherwise my house would be floating. Home choice should make sure that their technicians are responsible and that they don't take claims that they can't get to within a reasonable time. Leaks can damage floors, cabinets and walls.

I signed for five years and paid up front. Over the first four years I only put in three small claims (leakage). This year I had a Rangehood gone bad and went online to enter a claim. Only to find Fan/Exhaust that would qualify for what I need. They assign a company which call and needed more information. After I explained my problem they call CHW to say that the only do range. I was then assign a new claim number. The technician came and look at the rangehood and suggested to CHW that it needs to be replaced, He collected his service call fee and told me that CHW will contact me. The next day I got a note that my claim was decline. Rangehood is not covered. Only attic or bathroom exhaust are covered. I protested that on the contract it only says exhaust. Spoke with a first manager who says that I am not cover. A second manager listen to my argument and try to see what can be done. Not hearing back I called and spoke with a third manager that up front says Yes it is definitely covered but after checking with I don't know who came back and apologies (sorry not cover), but they will give me $100 toward a new rangehood due to the confusion and what they put me thru. I feel cheated and for such a big company they will not admit their fault and when lack of argument they simply add verbal qualification for not covering my kitchen exhaust fan/rangehood. "13. CEILING AND EXHAUST FANS " is the wording on the contract. The $100 they have agree to give include the $45 service fee which leave me with $55 toward my new rangehood/exhaust fan. BEWARE what you buy. Once my contract is over I in few month I will not renew at least not with CHW.

I am with Choice home warranty for last 4 years and experience is good but recently some of the sell reps are very rude. I tried calling sell’s number for getting the warranty for my second home and couldn’t have bad experience than that. In fact I told them to cancel my first policy also. They challenge you for whatever you say and probably customer comes secondary for them and they can really ruin your day with talking. Fortunately ‘John’ called me later and it was easy conversation to set me up for new home warranty at the same rate. But such initial experience with customer rep should be avoided. I am happy to pay more and go to another home warranty company if I get that experience again from customer rep

The representative did not go over the plan in a professional manner. I was comparing companies and unless I requested certain answers from him, he did not address everything that the plan covered. At the end of the conversation the most important part of the transaction. Even then when I purchased the contract, I was sent a receipt with inaccurate fees. In addition the plan did not even state the amount of time that the contract would cover. I contacted the representative immediately and I was fortunate that I was able to speak with him. He did recognize the service fee that he quoted to me was inaccurate and he was going to send me another revised one. I also mentioned the amount of time that the contract covers was not written on the receipt. Although he was surprised that the years were not written in the contract he was going to make sure that everything would be accurate in the receipt that he was going to resend via email immediately. I never received the corrected receipt. I waited a while so I called again but I was told that he was gone for the day and that I could call in the morning. I am flabbergasted since, this company is supposed to be a #1 choice for customers. When I call tomorrow I will expect the incident to be handled accurately, professionally and as swift as the first transaction was handled. If not then I will cancel the contract! E.C.
