I purchased a home warranty from Choice and my air conditioner went down they wouldn’t cover it because they said it was due to the storm, well I have two air conditioners the other works fine. They never get someone out in a timely fashion and they never keep their word. The tech was supposed to come in the morning and shows up 8 in the evening and next day he didn’t even put in a work order for my washer machine. After my contract is up I’m done. I rather pay more than to give away free money.

7 Jan 18: Choice Home Warranty has responded to this posting. They have offered and I have accepted a revised settlement. Buyer beware, full replacement of repairable covered items either because they are not economically repairable vs. replace or are mechanically repairable is not necessary the end result. Older appliances have significant limitations for receiving replacement value. Beware. 31 Dec 18: Choice Home Warranty (CHW) appears to be somewhat of a scam. First the good points….. Choice Home Warranty responds very well and promptly to service calls. Additionally,. The service technicians are prompt, courteous and have the technical expertise needed to fairly assess the situation. They also promptly report the results to CHW and CHW responds rapidly, usually within 24 working hours. Now for the disappointments…. This service call resulted in CHW determining a replacement of my electric range was less expensive than the repair. Initially I received an email offer for a $349 cash settlement that was less than half of what a equivalent replacement item would cost. I declined the cash settlement then the real frustration started. I soon received a call from the CHW representative assigned to this claim and she immediately said that all that they can offer only offer the initial low settlement which I previously refused and pushed me to settle for that using claims and quoting the contract and also stating that CHW does not actually arrange to replace the item and that the offered amount was what CHW would pay for the like replacement because CHW does not buy retail as I would have to. She also said that the unit was 20 years old (it was actually about 15 years old) and was insinuating that the replacement should be pegged to the value of the item back over 15 years ago. So, I said that, if HCW can do better on the price for an equivalent replacement please do so and arrange for delivery and installation. She refused to do this again stating CHW doesn’t actually replace the item, that the consumer has to do so. Thus, I pressed for a better settlement telling her that, if it was required that I replace the item, I would have to buy retail and CHW policy provides for an equivalent replacement and it costs double the offered cash. She kept going over the same comments refusing to address the actual replacement of the item and its actual replacement costs. She frustrated me greatly and I was becoming angry…I told her so and asked to speak to her supervisor. She said there were no supervisors. I asked to speak the Vice President in charge of her section and she seemed to ignore this request. She then cut me off and said that she could only go up to $589. I thought it over and given the frustrating 15 minutes with her I accepted. She placed me on hold for about 5 minutes and came back telling me the money would be sent in about 30 days. I asked for this in writing and she refused say the conversation was recorded. I tried to insist having this $589 settlement in righting and this was entirely to no avail and I thanked her and hung up. Even with this offer I will be out of pocket around $200. What kind of games is CHW playing and what kind of replacement coverage is this and why such poor customer service???

There was a quick response to our claim. Following the technician's assessment of the problem areas, he noted the repairs would exceed the original approval amount. He contacted the Choice Rep and was able to get the needed repairs approved.

The last 3 uses of your service has been screwed up completely. 1. Appointment advised was not made . Technicians ndate a day later. 2. Other technician did not accept the order, did not show up as we were advised and you never called nor did they. Did not know of this until I was able to run down technician. 3. SEnt repair people for repair and advised no coverage on this nitm after his arrival. You were advised three times, by me, the exact service required but sent them anyway and created a longer wait for repair by others problem. Never once told me it was not covered after you agreed to make the appointment for specific repair requested.

Garbage disposal went out Day after Christmas but Choice found a company to come out diagnose the problem and replace it. A little delay getting paperwork to Choice but as soon as they received it from the plumbing company it was approved and appointment was scheduled. I am very happy with Choice Home Warranty..

I had an issue in my home the day I moved in. I called them and they put it out for a service provider. There was going to be a wait to get the plumber here and it was two days before Christmasso they couldn’t send one until Thursday, but when I called back they explained that I could use my own service provider. The authorization process went smoothly and the work was done. I got notification that I’d receive my reimbursement a few minutes later. I should have it within 30 days.

He was very knowledgeable and didn’t rush though explaining the coverages and fees associated with the policy. He made sure I was 100% satisfied before hanging up the phone.

Provider said I would here your decision by end of day. He did not even enter it into your system til late in the evening. Once you made offer next day, I called to find out how long to receive check. The customer service rep said it would be about 30 days. It should have been stated in your letter. I was told it was in contract. I foolishly assumed that would not be true as a standard as I'm sure people realize your clients need that money to replace appliance. In addition I find it interesting your system has to mail it. Odd you can money out of my account but not put it back in. I understand it's two systems but they could share information that would speed up the process to improve customer service. I say all of this as a former info tech director who understands process and customer service.

I cancelled my policy and I was to receive a refund . However, after two months I never received the credit into my account. After calling CHW they apoligized and said they would be sending the credit in the next 10 days. Customer Service was very helpful.

Choice Agent was very helpful and arranged for the Service Call in an expeditious and professional manner. It took 24 hours for a service call which I believe it too long. A Service provider should have been arranged in less time, such as 12 hours maximum. The Service provider was excellent and arrived at the time arranged. He was courteous and professional.

My experience with Choice Home Warranty has been good at times and frustrating at other times. MostClaims, you have to make about 3 service calls before the problem is solved. On my last claim for my heating system, the serviceman came Saturday after several calls. They worked diligently for 2 hours and still found no cause of the noise in my heating system and it is still a mystery as they did their best, I guess. On my other claim on the range oven, it is still not fixed. I received a note that the problem was going to be too expensive to repair and you were going to make a settlement with me for another range, but I still have not received the details of how much this settlement is going to be and how do I go about getting this settlement. I need a oven that works for Christmas baking. I had to do without it again at Thanksgiving. Please send me some answers.

I made my 1st claim, late in the day on the 6th of December. Easy too, just made the claim online, took all of 10 minutes they got back to me within 20 min,, saying they will contact me again when repair person can come. So figured probably by Monday, wrong they got back to me even quicker, with an repair person and appt, all set for Fri afternoon. Already I was happy! The service man came and conquered was on time also. All I had to pay was the 75.00 call . Great work!!! Thanks, Kathryn McCardell

I’ve had an issue with the servicing of my dishwasher since March 2018. Has been broken since March . Terrible customer service up until today. I spoke to a different customer rep and he went out of his way to try to resolve this issue. Finally a repair man will be coming to my home to fix my dishwasher. So, I decided to renew my 3 year contract with CHW.

I have used my warranty twice in the last two months. The most recent claim was handled very efficiently. The response time and serviceman were both very good. The other claim I experienced a number of problems with the technicians/servicemen that were assigned to my claim. They were not responsive, did not return phone calls, or identify problem properly. The third technician assigned tested a number of componets and communicated with Choice and I was informed the same day that the unit would be replaced . The entire claim from when the first call was placed until I received a check was almost seven weeks. This to me is exc essive when you need equipment to function in the kitchen.

Reporting a claim is extremely easy and the response is quick. The only thing I would change is that they could require the vendors they use for service calls to give the homeowners a call ahead of time so that the homeowners don’t have to wait for 5 hours without an update from the vendor about their ETA.

I applied for Choice Home Warranty June 2018. I had coverage for 2 homes one in New Jersey and My primary in Florida. I have had 2 service calls one in each location. The service was quick and completed in a timely manner. I will continue using ChoicE Home Warranty. The only comment I have is to make sure once you call in your problem be available for a service representative as soon as the next day. They do email you the name address and phone number to the service company. I had my over the range microwave serviced in Florida and my refrigerator was leaking in New Jersey.

Choice warranty came with our house, purchased by the seller, so I dont know the cost. Claims are very easy to submit online. Response time is very good. Often a technician is calling to make an apt within 20 minutes. So far all the technicians are very knowledgeable and timely. The warranty doesnt cover electrical boards and control panels, which are essential to everything now and are the 1st thing to break. So that sucks.

Our sewer was backing up into our unfinished basement when we did laundry, used the DW or showered. Called CHOICE on Saturday. They said they wd call a technician who wd then contact us to make a apptmt to diagnose the problem. He wd then call CHOICE and they wd approve repair if it was a covered expense or say No - it's not covered. Monday, I called again. They said no technicians had returned their calls. I had two options: I cd wait while they continued to find someone or i cd find someone myself, use the same method - diagnose, call for approval- and if approved pay the technician and they wd reimburse me within 30 days. Called back Tuesday to see if they found anyone and they had not. By now I was frustrated. The problem was getting worse. Shop vac-ing sewage from the basement and dumping it on the lawn isnt sanitary. I had paid my annual premium up front and now the first time i have a claim, they weren't there for me. I mentioned this. I asked them to keep trying and then I started making calls myself. A technician that cdnt work out an apptmt for me said one of the problems in doing work for CHOICE is that they take 60 days to pay them for their work. I found someone who cd come on Friday. (A week from when the issue started.) Wednesday i got off work at 3 pm, cked my msgs and saw that a tech was supposed to be coming out between 11::00 am and 3 pm! I was at work and there was a person in the house who works nights - asleep. I called and txted to let him know but he was asleep. However, the dogs wd hear a technician and make it known. The technician didnt come! Thursday i called CHOICE. He had not been able to come after all and his phone had fallen off a ladder and broken so he cdnt let us know. In his defense he called and left me a voicemail later. Friday the technician I called and scheduled Did come, diagnosed the problem, CHOICE approved the repair and now it is fixed. I pay the diagnostic appointment and he will send an invoice and CHOICE will pay him. Hopefully in less than 60 days!

Your staff was wonderful when we made our call for service. They had a contractor lined up almost immediatley, however the Contractor MEKTEK did not return our calls for a new appointment for 3 days. He contacted me after the repair had been done by your second contractor ELEMENT AIR & REFRIGERATION which was wonderful.

I have been using Choice Home Warranty for more than 10 years now, it was the best. Up front and kept the homeowner updated each step of the way. It is truly the lowest fee service company. Now it has changed. No updates. When I call the customer service reps seem to have bad attitudes and speak to me as if they have an issue or I am bothering them. I get conflicting information. I am very disappointed. I like that they will allow you to choose a vendor if they cannot find one but be aware that the service still may not be covered. Another issue is that I cannot get clear information on what is covered and what is not when I call for clarification. It was not like that at first. Then the spam mail is horrible. I know thy have no control over that. It is hard to stop. I still have not lost all faith in Choice Home Warranty but I am quickly fading here with each issue I face for repair as I use the service or with each phone call. I just found out after calling there is a repair service that only does work for Choice Home Warranty for washing machines. I thought that was excellent. Then why would they not have washing machine parts on their truck? CHW ordered the part and it will take 3 to 5 days to arrive. So I have to wait a week for my washer to be repaired. That does not sound right to me. It is an american made washer and parts are in every store . Whirlpool stores are in this same town. The repair could be done the same day. Yes I am disappointed and confused.
