You have to go through a gauntlet to talk to a person. It becomes very annoying and time consuming. The good thing is that American Home Shield did resolve my problem with the plumbing in my home by sending another plumbing company which I was very pleased with.

First two service calls were fine. Most recent one for my dryer has been a nightmare. 4 weeks later and its still not fixed. The company working on it is understaffed and overbooked and there's a 20 minute hold every time you call. Didn't order enough parts the first time around and so difficult to make appts with them. Would prefer never to be assigned them again.

I was not happy with the contractors that were chosen for me. I had an appliance replaced. Once the appliance was received it took over a month for delivery and installation with the contractors failing to show up, lying about the appointment date, lying about installation, and various other reasons. It took 5 different appointments of me waiting around all day, before it was installed. When AHS was contacted they did not seem to care at all. Poor contractors can cause loss in business. That company should be replaced.

Although I believe AHS tried to be responsive, it took over a month and three visits from the repair company to get our dishwasher fixed. That's a long time to do the dishes by hand. I know that parts needed to ordered. I just wish the service company would have fixed it as soon as the parts arrived instead of always waiting two weeks for the next appointment. Still, I know everyone was doing the best they could.

It seems to me that American Home Shield ("AHS") is trying all possible ways to avoid making repairs to reported items. I reported water leaks from our Kitchen sink's drainpipe; AHS denied water leaks from the Basket Sink citing it's not cover under the Contract Section F4. I believe it's not covered if "caused by freezing or roots", which is not applied in my report; I sincerely request that AHS to review and have my reported Basket Sink leaks fixed at an earliest opportunity, as this had been reported since Decembet 04, 2021.

I recently renewed my contract and purchased the new Shield Platinum. The agent stated that EVERYTHING in my home was covered by this plan. I had two new repairs, one to fix the washer, the other was to fix the jacuzzi tub in the master bath. Washer fixed with no issue, good job. Jacuzzi tub was not covered under the plan and that was not resolved until the repair person showed up at my home and said I cannot fix this. Here is were it REALLY went side ways. They want me to pay the co-pay for the repair person which I am not willing to do and I am still in the process of chasing down that refund. Today, is ten business days and still not received. I will cancel my contract if this is not resolved and I have been a customer for five years. My other HUGE point of frustration is the call center. I find it extremely difficult to communicate with any of their employees.

I had a really bad experience with a recent plumbing claim. The plumber lied about completing a job and also broke my toilet and lied about that as well. AHS chose to believe a 25 year old technician instead of listening to the homeowner and policy holder (me). Lady at AHS pretty much told me that I was lying and that she had to believe the technician because they are the professionals. Took several hours and multiple people to get partly corrected. I still ended up being out almost $500 out of of pocket for a new toilet and install with no resolution from AHS or the plumbing company.

The current practice of only scheduling only business days is problematic. I have a water pipe leak that occurred Saturday morning and Im not able to reach a plumber. Previously I had no heat and had to wait about 5-6 days for a repair and it was very cold. The coverage is excellent and I appreciate the insurance but the severity of the issue to be repaired should be taken into account.

My recent experience with a heat pump repair is that they would pay $190 and I would pay the difference which was > $1k. Due to edge of the unit, I proposed replacement and they would pay for 50% and I would pay the difference. The answer was no. I have had the heat pump replaced and paid for it. My opinion right now is not good because I'm wondering why retain their service if I need to pay out of pocket for repair and/or replacement. This is my first request for service and I have been paying almost a year without any claims.

Most of my experience with AHS has been good. In the past, I have had several service requests for plumbing and appliance repairs that were completed with good results. My only negative service was when my hot water heater went out and AHS assigned to service to Showers Plumbing Company of Missouri Valley , IA. It took 11 days to replace the hot water heater, plus Showers Plumbing charged me and extra $290 installation charge. There was no extra installation effort required. No one from AHS would provide an explanation for me having to pay the extra $290.

Very poor communication, blame is put on the contractors when items are late when ordered even though American Home Shield completed the ordering, EXTREMELY difficult to speak to a supervisor and NOT at all helpful when I did, appointments were set up by American Home Shield for contractors to come to my house and I was NEVER informed and the times were during my work hours! I had to make all the phone calls and do all the leg work when a job took WAY longer than it should have due to the wrong parts being ordered and I sat and waited almost 3 weeks for a new hot water heater and was NEVER called once by a customer service rep. With an update!

Response by subcontractors is usually quick but if there's a broken appliance, it seems to take forever to get fixed or replaced. AHS did not stand by me when I had to pay for damage a subcontractor did to my ceiling though they said they fired the company.

I paid my $100. They scheduled my repair. The plumber came, told me I needed a whole new hot water heater and pan. He submitted the information to AHS. I ended up having to scramble to come up with $350 for the installation charge that I wasn't expecting. Loved the plumber and the job he did, for, that AHS approved the new hot water heater. BUT was not happy with the unexpected outlay of $350.

I am not very happy. So my first experience was great but after that it was very bad. I had a blockage, called and got quick service no problem. 2 weeks later my dryer stopped so I called and it was going to be 3 weeks before they could send someone to fix it. So I paid out of pocket for the repair. It was only 130.00 so at that point I was still not bothered too much. But then I had a leak on Christmas Day and the nightmare started. My house was flooding due to a blockage I just bought the house and did not know where the shutoff valve was located. Called ahs and got hung up on without speaking to anyone. Finally got connected after trying again but no one came on the line. Could hear kids and yelling but no one spoke to me. Tried again and got someone, explained the situation. They said they would get someone and expedite. They assigned a company that was closed. Now my house is flooding and they want me to wait until the plumbing company opens Monday. So I call around and find an emergency plumber who comes out. And turns off the water and tells me what the problem is. A blocked line. My question is this what am I paying ahs for if I have to find my own service repair service and pay out of pocket for repairs 2 out of 3 times. My house was literally flooding from the blockage and had to hire my own emergency plumber. And I had to hire my own appliance technician.

I feel that services are to slow when there is an issue with an appliance. In my case, I placed a work order on 1/7/22 and an appointment was schedule for the next day. I was excited because my refrigerator was not cooling properly. Services had previously being done and all I thought was great. But that was not the class. My service was not really completed as defect was not repaired, only made to function. Parts where unavailable on my A/C so they wired around the circuit board, disabling part of the system to make the unit work. Not really fixing the root problem. I suppose the service co had to close the ticket as it had already gone on for several months trying to get a part. Why was unit not replaced if parts could not be found to make it fully operational?

During the coldest part of winter so far my heat went out on a Sunday, also on the week of Christmas. I sent in a service request and they said someone would contact me the next day. A company came out the next day and they said they didn't work on my type of furnace (modular home?). So on Tuesday another company came out and reported to me they had to order the part. Part was ordered and installed 2 days before Christmas. I had borrowed 4 space heaters from different family & friends to try and keep warm & pipes from freezing.

My whole family has American Home Shield. We are all starting to notice the customer service is declining. People don't do what they say they will and it must followed up by repeated phone calls. I had a broken dryer for almost two weeks and they even escalated it. Lastly, they have insulated the supervisors very very well. There is no way to to talk to a supervisor when you call in according to the call takers.
