AHS uses good contractors and work gets done fairly soon. I do wish you had an emergency service option for when heat goes out in the middle of winter or water is pouring out of a broken fixture...often 2-3 days before someone comes out.

Additional repair costs are not disclosed up front. Water heater removal and replacement is covered but if leak pan is installed; any pipe work is needed, AHS does not advise homeowner is responsible. There is no apparent oversight by AHS of charges for additional cost so homeowner is at the mercy of repair company.

It seems they hire subpar contractors for the jobs in the past. My most recent dealings were better than I've experienced in the past with American Home Shield actually I have thought about dropping this insurance and looking at someone else if I have continued issues with subpar contractors. I also had an issue with my dryer a year ago and they couldn't find a part for it and no one ever contacted me back from your company and my policy states repair or replace that didn't happen.

Our dishwasher repairman was fantastic, did a great job in a timely manner. But when it came time for the water heater to be replaced, things didn't go so well. We got the cheapest water heater and cheapest materials, that had to be replaced immediately. The workmen were friendly, but we weren't sure they knew what they were doing. It was resolved, but we are left with a water heater that has to be on the highest setting to provide enough hot water for 2 people.

This was the first time I've ever used the service since I signed up 4 yrs ago, when I called i was hoping to speak to someone and ask questions and I clearly didn't get a prompt that i would immediately get charged the deductible amount so I had no choice but to utilize the service. Then my issue with the contractor they connected me to was not going to be until four days later! Ridiculous!

I called and spent 4 hours on the phone because one of your contracted companies said they did work they didn't do, and didn't fix out problem & charged us. I had requested another company to come out instead because we still needed it fix and this company is not welcome in my home. I waited to speak with 4 managers to get another company out, it was resolved but for simple request it shouldn't have taken that long. No one seemed to care or filed a complaint that I'm aware of against the contractor.

Because your sending a company out to my house from out of town over 100 miles away. I filed a plumbing claim Dec,20 . They finally come out 6 weeks later . Looked at it and left. I called them several times said oh were waiting on approval and parts. Well they never returned or fixed the problem I wound up hir6a local plumber to fix my valves. I've had your service for years. It's not ok to leave a customer hanging for months.

AHS is great for routine minor repairs. Doorbells, dishwashers etc. My issue is for repairs that might be deemed as emergencies due to weather conditions or the threat of water damage to the home. If your air conditioner fails and it's 95 degrees waiting 3 to 5 days for a contractor is too long. On the same token waiting months for parts for repairs is also excessive.

We were under the impression that our entire household was covered, yet when our freezer went out, suddenly we learned that freezers were excluded and we would need to purchase more coverage to have it covered, which was way too late after we lost every bit of our saved food. Still on the ledge as to whether I will continue service with them. You really have to spend an enormous amount of time convincing them that certain things they say are not covered are covered according to the contract. The contractors they send are far from the best in service and properly diagnosing and fixing an issue on the first or even second visits. I have had a few repair orders that were resolved.

When I made a service request to have my water fixed, and even though you were the ones that helped me get this same water heater just a year and a half ago, you did not tell me up front that you were unable to service it because it is under warranty. It was only after you had a contractor come twice and we had been without hot water for 1 week that you told us this. The warranty contact info you gave me was incorrect so I had to look that up myself. Then I had to get someone else to install my part even though our warranty only covers parts not labor because of your stupid non-customer friendly policy.

AHS replaced my 26 year old central air system with no problems. The compressor went out on the old one and the contractor said it would not be worth fixing because of the old r-22 components. I highly recommend AHS

For really simple claims, AHS comes through all the time, every time. But if you get into something complex that will seemingly cost time and money, they try to cheap out on the contractors and scrutinize the wording of the inspection to finagle their way out of the claim. ALWAYS be your best advocate, choose your own contractor (they keep a list so you do not need to go with whoever they stick you with initially if needed), and know your contract verbatim so you can recite it down to the letter if you need your job escalated.

I've been with them for a few years, and sometimes there was a disconnect between my issue, the contractor sent, and billing. However, the last 12 months have improved greatly in large part due to the website updates and the ability to do video calls beforehand.

The company has been good to work with my only problem is the amount of time it takes from the time you contact them with an issue to the amount time it takes for a person to come out and address the problem. It seems that the repair person is in such a rush that they misdiagnosed the problem or repair it incorrectly and then they have to come out again.
