When our refrigerator wasn't working it took one month to get the part. It is taking over 4 months to get part for our stove. W e have had to pay previously to have American home shield out for our stove and it was never really fixed so we are having to pay and wait again. The stove just needs to be replaced. We have had one item that was a quick easy fix which was our microwave. The cost has gone up substantially from when we originally signed up.

We are waiting for an oven hood to be changed for last 3 months. It was broken last October. After waiting for so many months ultimately home shield sent a new ovenhood but last 3 months we are waiting to get it installed. Every time, home shield sends it to a company but they are not contacting us. Every week, we call home shield and they are sending a new order to that company. That's it. Our sump pump was gone. We called home shield to give us a repair person ASAP since our basement was flooded. Home shield said , they cannot provide it anything right now. Then we told them if we would repair it and send the form for reimbursement. Answer is "You are your own.

AHS fixed my dryer and everything went good. However, my hot water heater started leaking on July 13th, 2022. When I called AHS, they assigned me to a plumbing company which was very professional and good. After that is when the problem started. I was without HOT water for 3 weeks before the tank was delivered and brought to my home for installation. First the water heater was too big for the space where it had to sit. The box was damaged and the drain spout was sticking out of the box. With these things occurring, I refused the tank. At this time it is being sent back and a new one ordered. I'm still without HOT water. By the time I get it, it will be well over a month. I don't feel that was satisfactory service from AHS. Honestly, I feel I should have some type of compensation for the time I've had to wait for my hot water heater to be installed.

They are a good company. Always quick to respond after a request is entered. The only reason for the 4 is that the AC company that they contracted didn't come for 3 days after I put the request in. So, no AC for 3 days in 100 degree weather.

They took the monthly payment out of my account two days early and overdraft er my account. Then they said they gave me two months premiums for free for the inconvenience. And now they are sending me emails every other day saying my payment is behind. Every time I call I get somebody in the Philippines that doesn't understand what I'm trying to tell them. Just bad overall experience with the servicing side. I would like someone in the US to call me and try to straighten this out because I'm getting tired of it.

My dryer appointment was canceled twice. Yet I was the one that had to go to their website to reschedule. Ridiculous, I wasted days taken off from work. AS withdrew the money from my account and yet the contractor has yet to do the work. In addition, without authorization the contractor shipped parts to my home which is an inconvenience to me . I'm stuck with parts yet this contractor is the only one that can use these parts according to An American Shields Associate. Its been a very negative experience .

The coverage is pretty solid for the price, at least when you first start. They doubled our monthly rate in only 2 years. As for the contractors they sent out, it was about 50/50 on if they really fixed the issue or did so temporarily so that it'd break again in a few months. Their customer service was tricky to navigate, especially when trying to cancel your plan. I ended up going with another company due to them continually raising prices.

When it works, it's great. But because the A/C guy said it had to be a plumber, then the plumber said it had to be an A/C guy, water leaked under my air conditioner for weeks, and now I have secondary damage. So was it finally fixed well? Yes. Before that, not so much. Also, I wish there was a way to request two services at the same time from the same person. (If there was, I couldn't find it.)

I didn't like AHS referring a contractor to me that was not approved by the Better Business Bureau. There is a lag between the time the service payment is made and when you receive service. If it's an emergency, you need that time shortened. When I phone the call center, I have a REALLY hard time understanding what the service rep is saying. There is a LOT of background noise and there is poor communication. Their English language is not clear for me to understand and they, sometimes, don't understand me. That is VERY frustrating for me when I'm trying to get support/assistance.

Dishwasher went on the blink. Called for service could only get on the schedule one week later. Serviceman repaired but two washes later dishwasher went on blink again. Got on schedule again another week later, scheduled for an afternoon repair. Repairman showed up in the morning and, of course, I was not home. Tried to schedule again but the only time slot was while I was out of town. Scheduled again after returning. Again was given an afternoon appoint and repairman showed up early. I missed him again. Called repairman and he said he only does repairs in my area in the morning. Made another appointment, scheduler tried to give another afternoon appointment. Told scheduler the repairman only worked in my area in the AM so she changed the appointment for a morning repair. Repairman worked on the dishwasher for over an hour then declared it could not be fixed. Said he would let the office know and they would make a decision to give me a new dishwasher. Instead of ordering me a new dishwasher, I've been given a different repair company. This has been about 6 weeks without a dishwasher. This is the first time I've used the AHS service. Pretty poor start and not as advertised - if we can't fix it, we will give you a new appliance.

I have been a customer for six years. Until this year I have been quite satisfied with the service. The last two episodes have been horrific. You have been unable to find contractors to service my request, and when she did find them it took weeks not days for them to show up if they showed up at all. Once I had to find my own contractor and I was told I would be reimbursed.Three months later I received the check. This is not satisfactory. The only thing that saved the company in my braces was that one of your employees was kind enough to get permission to reimburse one of my deposits for $100. If it had not been for her kindness and her hard work I would've quit the company.

The two times we've needed immediate help, they were unavailable. First poor experience was when our tenant experienced a backup in their plumbing, and AHS plumber was unable to get out to take care of it....which then cost us $600......next situation is actually happening as I type. Tenants air conditioning went out ( in Arizona with 100+ weather) and caused the family with two small children to have to go stay somewhere else. Could not even guarantee they could get a tech out there on Monday. Very disappointing. Very likely we will have to obtain our own A/C tech and once again pick up the tab.

Most experiences have been positive. They have replaced a washing machine, a water heater, and a pool pump when they were beyond repair. There have been a few times when things were not covered when I think they should have been. For example, a dishwasher was repaired mechanically, but the clips that held the drawer in place were not covered.

I have been satisfied with the service and the service technicians. The online scheduling is easy. However, if I have a problem and have to talk to an actual human, that process is very tedious. I get someone who is obviously in a large phone bank, very noisy, hard to understand. Even my cable company has better service when I make a call.

As soon as i created a request a tech came in and put in an order for replacement. From here the tech started to quote extra work calling them as modifications, so insurance wouldnt pay and i have to pay from my pocket.. The best authorization team of AHS suggested me to request cash out but to determine that amount, they again went to the same tech.. Obviously with the setup as expected i got the cash out offer as less than 30% of what they would cover if i go through the same tech.. its been 4 weeks now since i opened the ticket and it is still not resolved..

I have had poor contractors twice and had to bring in different contractors to finish the work correctly. These contractors acted as if their main goal was to deny my claim and report this to AHS. I have had to elevate such incident to the Resolution team and they have been helpful. Many of the Associates I have talked to do not seem to understand what I am requesting.

We had a good experience with the company sent to repair our dishwasher. That was done quickly and efficiently. The company which came to fix our light switches, City, has been a headache. One of two requested light switches was fixed. The repairman refused to fix the other one. He did a cosmetic change-out of a plate and switch but never fixed the switch. Upon discussing the issue with AHS, we were told that this guy had given his "diagnosis" and that was as far as it could go. Supposedly though, City was supposed to call us back again, but we never received any call. We are displeased with this service!

They wanted to charge me over $1800 for a water heater. I went to HD and replaced it myself for $549. So much for the replace part of the warranty!! My policy covers up to $2000 for a water heater, but they would not replace mine and it is shot, leaking all over the floor. At least they cover the little stuff. They replaced the fan on my AC unit. Had great customer service with AHS and the company who fixed it.

Since I moved out in the country its been hard to get help when needed. The last time went well but there's been a few times it took too long to get the job done.i had to find my own company to come out last December when furnace broke down. Took 6 months to get sunroom device right. The coldest months without heat. Thankful for success 6/26 for cool sunroom. Now house unit not working since 7/2. Shield found a way not to support calling evaporator coil replacement a "secondary" cause, not covered. I asked twice for a supervisor to call and explain to out of country reps. Was only told my responsibility.

Company was great. My only question was about the fee. I had two issues in the same bathroom-same visit. I paid for two visits. I paid $166 for one visit. I understood that you paid for the visit and if they could do 2,3 things while there it was one service fee.

At first it was great! Our guy came in and saw our dishwasher needed to be replaced and it did, we ordered a new one and it was good. Upon delivery of the dishwasher there was no install and it says that is apart of our Hsa contract. Now we have a dishwasher in our living room for 2 weeks. After we called and told them it wasn't installed the Hsa said they would call us in 48hours to get this squared away. 6 days later we get a call about fixing our dishwasher when we just need it installed and our old one taken away.

I had signed up for a service to do a tune up on my AC during a promotion and the service never happened due to availability of contractors and without written notice the service request was cancelled and I was told a refund of my $75 paid service fee would be issued within 10 days, it has now been over 20 days and I still have not received a return and I was in contact with the area manager but now no longer can get any info from them in the status of me receiving my return. Very unprofessional on their part as I have worked with other home warranty companies in the past and had to get a refund and it was processed within 24 hours.

They would get a 1 rating however they have handled my appliance issues without much difficulty. I wish I could say the same for the air conditioner. Since 2019 we have had to add Freon the the unit. Last year, 2 companies came out and freon was added 3 times. Ahs only covers $10 for freon so guess who's pocket it came out of? This would be fine if Ahs took the recommendation of both contractors and replaced the unit but nope. This year we have put Freon in once so far. I was working with Robert S a representative in the US and I thought maybe we were going to get somewhere but he just closed my ticket and that was the end of it. Ahs is not what it used to be. Customer Service has gone down hill, you talk to reps in a different country who repeat the same thing over and over. They don't listen to the techs who in my case have told me & Ahs that I need a new unit. It's turned into a joke.

I like that everytime I need their service, they repley fast. Every serviceman that came for our problem have been the best. I haven't problems that haven't solve and I have no gripes. I'm happy we got American Home Shielde!

in July/August of 2023 American Home Shield (AHS) sent a contactor (Upland Pool Supply) to replace our Salt Cell (saltwater pool). IT failed again in June of this year. I contacted the manufacture of the Salt Cell and Control Panel, via a series of phone calls, emails and pictures, they informed me the Salt Cell Upland Pool Supply installed was not the correct one for my Controller. I opened a new ticket with AHS, they sent our Upland Pool Supply again, I showed them the documentation I had from the manufacturer. They diagnosed the issue as being the Flow Sensor, which AHS deemed it was not covered, as it was not a critical component; their logic was that I can add chlorine manually. Not adding chlorine is one of the main advantages of having a saltwater pool. I have filed a complaint with the CA Department of Insurance and have begun the arbitration process with ARB.
