Anytime I have a problem, their customer support follows up with me and delivers results. I do have to say that they upgraded my system to a new digital box thing, but I paid for it without technically having the service because the equipment wouldn't arrive.

When we first got the alarm, about 10 years ago, it was fine, but now that it's upgraded, we have to install it on our own. We don't like that. Although the equipment is average, I would suggest that Protect America should provide free installation for their customers. That would be nice.

Installing the system was not a problem, I did it myself. I have not had a break in, only fire alarms, but it's been an adequate service. If I have something go wrong, I call them and they're generally able to tell me what's wrong and get it fixed, so it's been satisfactory all along.

My last conversation with their customer support was not very well. I was experiencing a severe situation of domestic violence, and not only were they unaccommodating, they started enforcing rules that have supposedly been in effect, but didn't get placed into effect until the moment I told them that I was experiencing this problem. I've been a customer for over 5 years, and my loyalty was not rewarded. If anything, my children's safety was compromised, and I had never had any of those issues before, but the minute I said it was a domestic violence issue, the rules applied all of a sudden. If I had the where to do it, I would probably file a lawsuit against them, because they jeopardized my safety, and my children's safety. I'm sure they're very nice people individually, but they just hide behind their so-called warranties. Initially, it was a good fit, but when I needed them the most, they weren't there. Under the banner of Protect America, they can be cold and coward and that's not what that system is for. The system is for protection and safety, and in the last year, they have grossly failed at that, at least for my safety. I will no longer do business with Protect America.

The equipment was okay. I don't think it's great. On the other hand, installing the system is terrible. They do not come and help you until you've made about a dozen calls to them, only to bring somebody from a 5 hour distance. I don't think their customer support always knew what they're doing. We switched from double hang wood window to casement window, and every time we called to ask how to the secure casement window, we never got a descent answer.
