Will I owe taxes on the amount of debt that is forgiven through a successful negotiation?

Some creditors may issue a 1099c for the amount of debt forgiven over $600. If this occurs, you may be able to file for FInancial Hardship with IRS Form 982 with your income tax return to offset any tax liability. To learn more about the impact of cancelled debt and how to offset potential tax liability, read publication 4681 on the IRS website.

Will I be able to enroll all of my debts in Americor's program?

No. The program focuses on unsecured debt like credit cards, personal loans, medical debt, and personal student loans. Loans that are secured by collateral such as your home or an automobile do not qualify for Americor’s program.

Can I negotiate my own debts?

The short answer is yes. It is possible for you to contact your creditors directly and negotiate your own debts. However, Americor negotiators have years of experience and direct relationships with creditors and collection agencies. Unless you are a skilled negotiator and extremely knowledgeable about the credit and collection industry, you may not be able to negotiate agreements as favorable as the ones Americor negotiators may reach on your behalf.

Who is holding the funds I save each month?

By law, all debt resolution providers are required to use an independent third-party payment processor to hold consumer funds while the consumer is enrolled in a debt resolution program. After enrolling in Americor's debt resolution program, the company will assist you in setting up a FDIC-insured savings account that you control with a licensed, third-party payment processor who will hold your savings funds and distribute all negotiated payments to your creditors in a timely manner. You are the owner of this account and you control all of the funds deposited and debited from the account.

Does a debt resolution program help repair my credit once I have completed the program?

No. Americor is not a credit repair company, and it does not offer credit repair services. However, once a person progresses through their debt resolution program and settled accounts are paid off, they often see their credit score improve due to a lower debt to income ratio.

Does a debt resolution program affect my credit score?

If you do not make timely minimum payments each month, or if you allow your credit cards to go into a charge-off status after six months of no payment, your credit score can be negatively impacted. This is true whether you enroll in a debt resolution program or not. The sooner you are able to resolve your delinquent accounts or negotiate a repayment plan for less than you owe, the sooner negative items will begin to not be factored into your credit score and the sooner you will be able to begin to rebuild your credit.

How long does it take to complete a debt resolution program?

While each person’s situation is unique, and it is dependent on how much debt you enroll and how fast you can save, Americor clients are typically able to complete their program in 24 to 48 months.

How long does it take before I typically see results?

Americor clients typically get their first settlement offer within 3-6 months after enrolling in the program. However, some clients receive their first settlement offer within 30 days of making their first deposit into their dedicated FDIC-insured account.

Can Americor guarantee all of my debts will be successfully negotiated through its program?

Americor will not enroll a creditor that the company has not successfully negotiated with in the past. Part of the enrollment process is to determine which of your creditors Americor can and can not enroll. Americor has been successfully negotiating debts with most credit card companies since 2009 and has relationships with over 1,000 clients across the nation to assist their clients with their debts.

How are fees charged and paid in a debt resolution program?

Americor never charges a fee until it is able to successfully settle your accounts for less than what you owe. When Americor receives an offer from one of your creditors, it will submit a written agreement to you for your review and approval. Americor's fees are then paid on a prorated basis once the settlement payment is made.

This has been the WORST experience in my life! The communication has been HORRIBLE. On top of that, the information about how this program works was MISLEADING. I've had to beg to the "negotiator" in charge, Mrs. Tori B. to give me a call, and the only respond has been, "you call me, I don't speak Spanish", so I told her, no problem, I speak English, please call me back", and I am still waiting! From the beginning they will tell you: "Stop Payment", "Don't respond to any letter", "Don't talk to them", "No matter if the account is sent to collection, we will take care of it". From the beginning I requested to start working with CHASE, but they decided to work with the small debt first. Months later I let them know that I got a call from the bank notifying me that my account was sent to collection. Weeks later, Mr. Kenneth R. sent me an email requesting me to pay $650 bi-weekly + $156,24, so he wanted me to pay $1,612.48 MONTHLY, to make a settlement with CHASE. Today, 7/13/2025 I received a Court Summons for the debt with CHASE!!! U N B E L I E V A B L E.

Stay away from Americor they don't have your best interest at heart only there own,it's about making them money under the disguise of supposedly helping you get debt,they have hidden fees which they don't up front and they don't return phone calls,they making you feel like they are on your side but they are not, specifically if they put you in touch with their loan company Credit9, you will end up paying more money with there 27% interest rate on there loans which means you will be paying more money then if you where to just pay your creditors on your own take it from me I owned over $17,000 to my creditors and with their 27% interest rate I'll end up paying over $32,000 for the next 60 months,so please don't get involved with either company stay away

In the beginning things were going good, my rep Chris was very knowledgeable and helpful. Once I reviewed the documents, I realized I could probably handle things myself instead of using americor at this time. So I submitted my cancellation request and I received a call from Chris the same sales rep but this time he was definitely rude, he felt like this was a personal shot at him that I wanted to cancel my agreement, very argumentative and defensive. He was over talking me wouldn't let me speak just overall trashy, unpleasant, and unprofessional performance. At the time I was at working myself and we were slammed, and for me to step away to even answer the phone call was already me being nice because me and him spoke, but if I know it was going to be a disrespectful aggressive person on the other side of the phone I would've proceeded with working. In the beginning I wanted to try americor maybe later in the year if my new plan didn't work out but now I WILL NEVER USE AMERICOR NOR WILL I EVER RECOMMEND ANYONE ELSE!

You are, in effect, paying off your debt in 5-7 years with ZERO savings. On, say, $100,000 owed, they negotiate your debt by half ($50,000). They charge a flat fee of 25% of what you "saved". So, $25,000. Meanwhile, companies like Discover, they LEAVE ALONE and tell you NOT TO CONTACT them.... So for 18 months, you're accumulating 30% MORE in interest AND when they finally negotiate it down and add their fee, you've paid well over what the Discover debt started with. The lump sum "Loan" they offer in the end is at a rate equivalent to the rate the credit cards were that got you into this position in the first place..... However, they open their sales pitch with "Most people just get a personal loan with a much lower interest rate and pay our loan off." So, after 2 years or more of late/delinquent payments, credit score lower than you can imagine..... What bank in their right mind is going to give you a loan. They don't tell you any of that. The other is the "Make these monthly payments for 18 months and we then give you this loan...... 18 months go by, PERFECT payment record, "Sorry, you don't qualify for the loan." So, 32 MONTHS, and I finally qualify.... So, 18 months PLUS 14 months of compounded interest...... Feels good to pay $105,000 against $100,000 owed 6 years later and no credit..

Americor for me was a complete rip off I do not recommend them to anyone ever!!!! They tell you they will reduce your debt by 50% then add there 25% and then ruin your credit score and give you a consolidation loan at 25% interest so in all reality you are in the same amount or worse in debt than when you started save yourself the trouble and shop around better companies out there!

When I signed up with them I was very happy but I soon find out this is pure garbage, I called to ask a question and was left on hold for 39 minutes and then they hanged up on me, I tried another day and was left on hold for almost an hour until I got tired of waiting and hanged up myself, tried a 3rd time when I finally was able to speak to someone and I cancelled my account with them, I can't deal with a company that when I have a question I can't call to get answers

In the beginning alot of pressure was taken off me knowing Americor was helping settle my debt to where I could pay it off in what they said would be 3 yrs. When it came to the line of credit to pay off settled debt, I was taken to the cleaners. What was $18,000 debt turned into a $24,000 debt which included 23% in interest. After 8 mos of not paying my regular debt, it was too late to back down. They had me right where they wanted me. I will not recommend Americor or any debt settlement agency. I'm sure they all work the same way.

They're dishonest, bait in switch, they make it seem like they're going to help get out of debt but in reality they make your accounts go into collections and have constant unwanted calls. They don't lend you the money but they use your money and once you have enough to pay off an account in collections then that's how you begin to pay off your debt.

I have had nothing but problems since agreeing to be with Americor. I dont feel like Americor has ever been on my side. They are more worried about receiving the funds every month then checking in on me or actually helping me with situations that have happened with certain creditors. Even paying for aid didnt help. That was a waste of money. I think it would have been a faster and easier process to file bankruptcy and start over that way instead of being dragged thru the mud and having bad anxiety everyday that someone was going to show up to my house and have me served.

From Point A they are setting you up to get a VERY High Interest loan with their subsidiary Credit 9. They will sell you on the idea that you will pay less than you owe after they get settlements, take a length time that smashes your credit score, leaving you with no other options. I am sorry I entered an agreement with Americor.

I had a payment plan that was set up for me. I requested the first payment to be taken out on the twenty eighth of April. It was called on the twenty six which cost me bounced check fees. That bothered me and that upset me. Customer service explained everything thoroughly as far as what was going to be done and all that documents I had to sign.

Americor did settle credit card debts. Now they consolidated debt to loan company for 6 months and then we will have to find someone else to take over our debt loan. Started with $30,000 in debt we still owe $18,000 @ 18% interest. We are still in debt! It has been a hardship & still is!

Scam scam scam!!!!! Don’t use them you’ll regret it. Prior to Americor I had money on my credit cards and a 700 credit score. Not even 1 year into the contract and I have low 500’s credit score, I’m currently being sued by one of the credit card companies and I still have money on my credit cards. You would think that if you got sued by one of the credit card companies that Americor is supposed to be handling that they would take care of it but you are mistaken. They actually advised me to talk to a lawyer. Well I am, I’m sueing americor. If you’re considering Americor, just claim bankruptcy, it will save you a lot of headaches.

This company helps with negotiating however keeps you in debt by making small payments to creditors to keep you in the program longer to make money off the interest of the loans. When you call to inquire about specific questions you get the same questions and they say a manager is never available to help. They waited to negotiate my last card to get me to proceed with their credit9 program which did pay off the remaining 2 loans and that is when they negotiated my last card but then I was set into a new loan contract for 30 more months of lower payments so more money can be made off interest. I paid all my payments and they were paid on time. There is no excuse for 10$ payments with a 5$ bank fee per month being made to more than one creditor when I was paying 911.44/MO. I called and emailed several times to have this corrected and was given numerous excuses as to why the payment could not be increased to a more feasible number especially when paying a 5$ bank charge each time a payment is made. Will not recommend!

Horrible communication! I was served a judgement and tried so hard to get to someone who could help pay this bill 1st and NO ONE was available to help! Now I'm stuck in the program and wish I went a different route. There is literally ZERO communication with what's going on with my account. Especially when stuff like this arises. It's been over a year and 3 accounts are still listed as not settled. What happened was, they assumed I was going to take the Credit 9 loan, which I didn't because my payment would've been $150 higher than what I'm shelling out now. This would have really hurt my budget so I declined and now it seems my account is at a standstill, other than the money going to creditors who have already agreed to settle. I just wish there was a way to talk to the person handling my account. It seems like they are doing a really horrible job at it.

Like I explained to customer service yesterday. We are starting o the wrong foot . I am not happy with the sales Agent Dash . I feel like he scammed me. He withdrew money prematurely, I explain the money won’t be in my acct. it has left me financially in a bind for 2wks . Plus am disabled, lack of sleep and Eli aged my blood pressure too levels that was detrimental to my health . Customer service told me I don’t have to deal with him . A little while later he left a message saying I am sorry. I didn’t want to hear it . I came to Americor for help . I am hit upset . Employees like Dash give companies l a bad reputation. I instructed customer service t Listen to the rsupposed recorded conversation . I was ver clear that there was no money in the account until the 3rd We’d of every month , he still wet forward with the premature withdrawal . Unfortunately I am still upset and Andy because of the financial position it caused me , which wasn’t good to begin with .i recommend anyone that is dealing with Dah the are better off hanging up . I am a very unhappy and disturbed with this whole incident.Especially costumer service told me I won’t have to deal with him . He calls me back and leaves a message of an apology. I am sorry doesn’t help me with the position he has left me with .. I really think the CEO of Americor . Should made aware of this From the begging I was very honest with the situation I am in .Instead of on long road I am still upset, I put off this review but after I couldn’t sleep I decided , to give my opinion .
