Payment Flexibility

To fit customer needs, Sunrun offers several solar financing options, including solar lease, Power Purchase Agreement (PPAs), prepayment, outright purchase, and solar loan.

Sunrun solar lease and PPA options give customers the chance to reap the benefits of a home solar system for zero to little upfront cost. PPAs from Sunrun help the homeowner save on his or her electric bill.

The prepayment option features all of the same benefits as the lease option, except the customer doesn't have to worry about the hassle of monthly payments.

Purchasing a Sunrun solar system outright provides customers with long-term savings, while financing a Sunrun solar system through a loan allows customers to make payments to own their system, which provides long-term benefits.

Customized Solar Systems

Sunrun understands that when it comes to renewable energy, every customer's home, lifestyle, and savings goals are unique.

As a result, the solar company customizes every solar panel installation to the customer's needs using its own proprietary Automated Site Modeling design technology. With just a few pieces of information and satellite imagery of the rooftop, Sunrun's Automated Site Modeling software quickly designs a custom solar energy system to maximize production.

Simple Solar Process

Sunrun strives to make switching to clean energy as simple and hassle-free as possible for its customers. The solar installer saves time by taking care of everything from scheduling to permitting and allowing people to follow their installation progress through the mySunrun mobile app. The design and installation process is as follows:

  • Step 1: Sunrun's experienced technicians will visit, measure, and evaluate the home; ensure that a solar system is the right fit; and design a customized solar plan.
  • Step 2: Sunrun's design experts will review and make any adjustments to the custom evaluation.
  • Step 3: Sunrun submits the design plans to the local city government for permitting.
  • Step 4: After the permit is granted, Sunrun's installers will come out to the home, go over the custom design with the customer, receive approval, and get to work.

25-Year Maintenance

If Sunrun customers choose to lease or obtain a PPA, Sunrun will own the solar panel system and, therefore, is responsible for all maintenance and repairs of the system. Additionally, Sunrun will refund customers if the panels installed on their roof ever underperform.

Roof Warranties and Coverage for Sunrun Solar Panels

Other benefits of Sunrun's product include a 10-year warranty on systems that are purchased and up to a 25-year warranty on systems that are leased. Each solar customer's Sunrun contract also includes a roof warranty, which protects the roof from leaks or holes.

In addition, Sunrun provides its solar customers with daily system monitoring for no additional fee. The company's monitoring team oversees all all Sunrun systems and keeps an eye on production levels. How does going solar with Sunrun work?

After you sign your Sunrun agreement, you’re ready for solar panel installation. The best part? You don’t have to lift a finger because we take care of everything from scheduling to submitting permits, to working with the city and utility, and securing your solar panels to your roof. Naturally you’ll have questions, and we’ll be right there with you answering them every step of the way. Once you’re approved for a Sunrun solar installation, your home will undergo a site assessment and an expert solar technician will visit your home to confirm your system design. After that, our solar design experts make any necessary adjustments to your design and get your final approval. Once you’ve approved your system design, we submit your design to the city for permitting. From there, either Sunrun or one of our local certified partners perform your solar installation. We only partner with the top-rated solar installers, so know you’ll have the highest quality solar installation available. When your installation is complete, the city or county will perform a final inspection on your system. Once it’s approved, it will be connected to the grid, and we’ll submit your documents to the utility company. After your utility company grants Permission to Operate, you’re ready to start powering your home with the sun.

How long does it take for Sunrun to install solar panels?

The process of having a home solar system installed on your roof can be relatively quick. Many Sunrun installations are completed in one day. But before our crew comes to your house, we take a few weeks to prepare your project so that you have the smoothest installation day possible. You will have a team of experts working for you during this time who handle the tasks necessary for a smooth solar installation and keep you updated along the way. Our customer app also allows you to see your installation status during this time: - Conduct a site survey to look at your roof, attic and electrical panel - Finalize your custom design - Apply for permits and wait for approval - Collect other necessary approvals and documentation that is specific to your neighborhood, such as HOA approval Your project coordinator will be in touch with you throughout this time to keep you up-to-date on your progress. When it comes time to install the system, your installation coordinator will let you know how long the construction process will take for your home.

How long is a Sunrun agreement?

What happens at the end of a Sunrun agreement?

When you reach the end of your Sunrun agreement, you have three options: - You can purchase the solar system at the fair market value (excluding New York homeowners). - You can renew your lease with us on an annual basis. - Sunrun can remove the system at no cost to you. When you reach the end of your agreement, the Sunrun Customer Care team will help you with moving forward however you choose.

Does Sunrun offer a warranty?

Does Sunrun offer solar monitoring?

Yes! We have a monitoring team dedicated to keeping an eye on your home solar system. Here’s how it works: - We record production (in real-time) — Your Sunrun meter counts your kilowatts as they’re produced. - We collect your production data (every six hours) — Four times a day, your Sunrun meter sends your production data to our Denver-based monitoring team, where all production data is collected, stored, and analyzed. - We evaluate your production (every day) — We compare your production to the estimates included in your contract to confirm that your system is working as expected. We also check the weather and other systems in your neighborhood to make sure you’re harvesting just as much sunshine as your neighbors. - We fix what needs fixing (if necessary) — If your system isn’t working as expected, we will identify the issue and rectify the situation. If we cannot fix your system with remote troubleshooting, we may need to send a technician to take a look at your system in person.

Every time that I have called, the people have been friendly, nice, knowledgeable of how to solve my issue or problems, and quick to help me and get it resolved. The guys came in a truck and had all the panels on the roof, and blocked the door so we were safe while we were still in the house. They just made sure everything was safe and let us know not to come out because how they were working. They had ladders up and they kind of blocked it off using caution tape. So I was really impressed by that, and they did a good job.

Our experience with the techs was very, very positive. It went very smoothly. We had a very professional crew take care of all details and they not only installed the panels, but also installed a brand new electrical panel as well. We just got our first electric bill from our electrical provider and it was -$45 so everything that SunRun said was true. We are now producing more electricity than we are using.

The amount of money I pay each month is super! Have the app so can track my energy amounts and that my panels are working. Have had no need for customer service since installation. I like that Sunrun is constantly monitoring their equipment and will take care of it if anything goes wrong. My rep was super attentive until the system was all turned on and now I struggle to get a response to a question via text. I have yet to receive the money promised for referring a customer.

Everyone on SunRun has been very communicative during the whole process of install. They communicated clearly and did what they said they would do, so no complaints. The foreman was great. Dislike how long it takes from installation to activation of the system. I realize you are at the mercy of the local inspectors but the process literally took months. Communication could improve during that period. However, your installers were excellent and cleaned up after themselves.

He explained the system and options. Contract process was simple and understandable. We had options to choose from to determine the best pricing structure that fit our budget and expectations. I like the HUGE savings on my electric bill. I have only needed to contact customer service once and they were very helpful. I do not like how my electric company doesn't pay me but instead gives me a HUGE credit that I can only use for my electric bill. It would be nice if they either paid me or let me apply this credit towards my heating/gas bill with the same company.

We wanted to have solar for economics and care of planet, but could not afford a system. Sunrun made it easy to get on board. They assessed our property, and installed panels, which seem to have been maintenance -free for years. Our savings are moderate, but real, but we feel good to be contributing to the effort to shift energy to sustainable sources. Our monthly payments are easily deducted from our bank, and increase in small amounts year by year exactly as promised. Each month we get e-mails clearly describing the efficiency of our system and how much carbon it saves, and any time we have had an issue or question, (such as refinancing our mortgage) we have dealt with cheerful and expert customer service who helped us swiftly. We are very happy with our relationship with Sunrun after some years of signing on. At every step they delivered as promised and offered excellent support.

Well, I'm into my third year already and I haven't had any problems with the equipment, it has been working flawlessly. In fact, it seems to be getting better with age. Now I don't know if that's possible, but I tell you what, I've sure been getting a lot of rollover. I've been producing still a lot like crazy, so that's awesome. I've been very happy with the lease agreement and the payments have been more than acceptable. It's been fantastic. I've got 24 panels on my small roof, and I just I love it. It's working out really good. These guys were right on top of everything. Even when I initially had a problem with one of the brackets that held the panel, I needed it trimmed off because it was hanging out a little bit. They came right back, took care of it, no problem.

Phillip, our SunRun Representative is fantastic, he answered all our questions, he makes sure everything is going good with us, and he even periodically stops by to see how we're doing and how we like our solar. Once they put the solar up, it was fast and it was efficient and they were great about cleaning up anything in the yard. The guys were just superb. We have not had any problems and we're loving our no ComEd bills. We used to pay $250 a month for ComEd, now we don't. They're absolutely trustworthy. I'm very pleased with them and the customer service and the way that they treat us afterwards. We're not just forgotten, they still check up on us. It it's just amazing. It's there, it's not just making a sale and goodbye, you're part of the family.

I think the the the girl who told me about SunRun was very good and she explained everything to me and how much money I would save and that was the right choice. The gentleman came over here, put it up in a speedy time. I think it only took a couple of days. It was great experience. They put it up and and it was not complicated for me to be able to clean it or anything else. It gets pretty clean pretty quick. But I think it could have been a lot easier if they didn't put that white material at the bottom of each panel because it doesn't get cleaned too well. But actually it's very good. I think my roof is going to be have to be done probably in the next two or three years and they're going to have to remove the solar panels. And that's going to be a little costly I think.

They were very, very informative, supportive and I had already made the decision. So it was a very simple matter of just arranging the installation. The date was selected. I was asked to trim a few branches from some trees that are around my property and their truck with the crew with the equipment arrived and they spent most of the day, installing the panels, getting the battery in, laying the cable the the pipe, the the ductwork for the cables, and mounting the control equipment on the on the side wall. It was a pretty straightforward process. They were very respectful and responsible. I pay 100 bucks a month and I don't have to worry about it.

The installation team installed the solar panels and the other accompanying equipment in one morning. Their follow-up was terrific. Sales team was excellent. Five stars explaining how a lease works and pricing. The installation team was 10 stars. They explained all technical things to a technical person including system operation. This included changes that needed to be made "on the fly" that occur when the planned installation design meets the actual home. I was informed of the changes needed. I was informed of any available options if more than one solution was available and the advantages/disadvantages for those options. Basically, they were knowledgeable, efficient, and communicating from beginning to end in the installation. This resulted in a very professional installation. Then we come to the after service support. This has two components. Hardware/installation and connection/billing. There were some issues with the Hardware that required the installation personnel to return and make adjustments. Something I expected because it is complex in all the wiring which had to be rerouted into a second breaker box that the backup battery can support. This also included them training me to understand what areas in the house are backed up for the battery I had selected. They quickly switched over a change I requested. The support side for getting connected with Sun Run, FPL and my Electric meter was a communications and procedural nightmare. This cost a star in the rating. The communication from the so-called customer satisfaction area was basically non-existent. FPL and Sunrun apparently were overwhelmed with installations. The paperwork required from Sun Run was lost or never submitted, so we were sending power to FPL through a one-way meter. This was indicated on the meter as being bought from FPL, which meant I was paying for the power I was generating. I resolved the issue by getting the Hardware support to temporarily shut-off my system and personaly submitted the required forms to FPL for the two-way meter. Once the two-way meter was installed and the system restarted, everything has operated flawlessly. This includes multiple power outages, from just moments to multiple hours. A lighting strike on the cable network system which damaged the cable boxes and stopped electrical power all over the neighborhood. My Sun Run system handled it without any issues. So, I am enjoying a reliable and fixed cost electrical system which has been stress tested and performing as designed. I now have a battery backup system and reliable power at approximately the same cost as my original annual power bill. My

they were very engaged during the project and kept me informed of the progress of the installation. They were pretty thorough about providing information on the financial requirements and things like that. It's too early to tell whether the duration of the equipment is going to be good. But so far it's worked fine.

I'm so thrilled with my Sunrun experience. At first I was the biggest skeptic. I was sure there was some angle where the company was getting the better of me, but after multiple spreadsheets, due diligence and some serious tire-kicking, the Sunrun deal turned out to be as good as they said it was. My rep, Damian, was incredibly attentive and worked with me every step of the way. His high integrity and great communication made the entire experience enjoyable. Now I'm the cool kid on the block with my snazzy new solar panels and Tesla Power Wall. As everyone else's PG&E bill continues to skyrocket, we're basking in the Sunshine of a locked-in low monthly bill. It feels like I'm the one getting the better end of this deal.

They were very helpful. They explained everything as to what was going to happen and how they were going to set it up. I've had no problems. They keep checking to be sure everything is running fine and anytime I can go online and look to see how much we have generated. Everything is all set up. If it rains, it washes it. If it snows, the snow slides off and it's not in our way. It doesn't interfere with anything and it keeps my electric bill very low. Comparing what it cost me to lease the panels as to what I was paying for the electric, it's very good.

Don’t buy any services or products. They just lie left and right. Their sales rep was helpful at first and promised to help to solve issues and do some reimbursement but later ignored my messages and never called back. His name is Michael T, pure liar. I noticed severe decline in production after the first month of installation. After 6.5 months the production is only 1933 verses their 10980 annual estimates and they claim nothing is wrong with the system. I’m contacted them requiring to remove the system immediately from the house. Just filed a complaint with BBB and will take also legal action if they don’t remove it.

I didn’t like that my system was not working for over a month before Sunrun said something in email. I kept looking online and it said it wasn’t registering but was probably working. However when tech came and checked the breaker had been tripped and not working. So I had to pay monthly Sunrun bill plus Edison took their share also. So double dipping for over a month. Irritating to pay both companies.

Sometimes it takes a while to get back and the relaying of the information is not always understandable for all customers. It's generating good power. I'm not sure if it's available in the New York City metropolitan area, but you guys should improve on battery storage. I think that would make the service 10 times better and more cost effective for the consumer.

They've always been very responsive. The original inverter was not the specifications, but they did come out and replace it and it's worked fine ever since. We don't understand why the SunRun system doesn't have a capability for battery backups.

they were always there when I needed them to get an answer to my question. it worked and it's saving us money. Everything was took a long time, longer than expected because it was during COVID and, but it was fine. It was a good decision because it has saved us money. It went very smooth and it was easy, but I'm having problems with my PGE bill. My first bill after my other True bill shows that I have a $500 True bill in this month it's gone to $900 and I don't understand why my True bills are going up and up and up. And I haven't had a chance to call PG&E and SunRun to find out what's going on. I've always had to pay a True bill and I was told originally I wouldn't have to pay one or very minimal.

Sunrun re-mounted our panels after a new roof was installed , an employee told us one panel was not working & they would replace it. After a long wait they came back w/ new panel. When they checked to see if everything was functioning only to discover two cells on another panel were not working after another employee had told us the whole system was functioning. When my husband called Sunrun to find out when they were going to get everything working that we have been paying for over 10 years. Customer service representative told my 68 year old husband to climb a tall ladder to get on the roof & take a picture of the problem & send it to them for consideration. I'm appalled at such a dangerous suggestion for an elderly customer of long standing. We still haven't heard anything even though we know the service employee reported the problem before we called to follow up. Pat Howell
