Got notice today that BP is jumping ship. This ‘bank’ has a habit of requiring payment by the 19th of each month. Then they extend the charges billed long after. Called to see why my bill wasn’t closed by the 28th this month. Said they were closing the next day. Looks like they try to collect as much interest as they can in any way possible. Goodbye and good riddance!

This bank is garbage. Do not finance through them. The website is terrible. I have been trying to pay my bill for weeks and cannot get into my account. Password recovery fails. Username recovery fails. Paying as a guest doesn't work for any of my cards. My credit score is messed up now due to a bill I could easily pay to literally any other financial institution. Synchrony is not technically a scam but it is definitely predatory. I just paid my full bill just to get away from this bank. I will never finance with google or Synchrony again.

I opened a Money Market account and instead of using my personal information, they populated the security callback numbers with a long ago disconnected cell phone and with my current landline. Customer service was of no help, just repeating the line that they use third parties to populate their data . My current cell phone, which is so customer service could see, can not be used to verify my identity, only a disconnected cell or the landline. Do I have to now take my house phone with me when I leave home? /s

I applied for a Sam's club MasterCard through this bank. I was told by customer service at Sam's that I would receive a $100 dollar credit when my account was opened. I received a letter from Synchrony stating that my account would receive a $30 dollar credit. I called customer service to cancel the card and ask that nothing go against my credit report. They said I would have to do that on my own. Poor customer service and I personally do not want to deal with a company that uses under hand tactics to get my business

Have had accounts with this bank for years with no problem. Opened an eBay Mastercard was accepted with a $7500 limit. Went to charge $600 and was turned down. No one would talk to me about this until threatened to close all the other accounts and then was told due to inactivity on the NEW card which I hadn't even received yet was why I couldn't charge over $500 .until I proved my credit worthiness. I have perfect credit with this bank and couldn't believe this happened!! Will be cancelling other accounts. Do Not do business with this bank!!

After reviewing my monthly statement I noticed my credit line had decreased.I called to ask why they stated because my credit score had dropped.I have never missed a payment with them even paying more than the min and never late.so what did that have to do with them (Only dropped 2 points) I'm cancelling my card and will pay them off as soon as I can.I have several cards and this has never happened to me before

I had an Old Navy account. I hadn’t used it in about 6 months, didn’t owe anything on it and they closed my account today, saying the reason for doing so was because I have other credit cards with high balances . Not true!, that my credit score decreased since opening the account. Not true either ! Oh, and that the account had not been used in awhile. Beware of doing business with this bank!

Me and my wife have worked so hard on our credit. So we decided to write checks and mail them to them to pay them off along with most of our credit cards. A month later came the harassing phone calls. A late fee that in return caused another over the limit penalty along with calls everyday. They couldn’t find my payment. This trashed our credit. It wouldn’t have been enough for it to be one synchrony acct. It was three accounts that were perfect before they ignored my payment. Left a complaint on BBB to trigger a response back from them

The customer service component does not allow a customer to talk to a real person. Instead, one is put in a queue only allowing numerical choices. All I wanted to do was cancel my credit card because of $61 of fabricated late fees. I will never recommend this bank to anyone. Discount Tire does its loyal customers a disservice aligning their fine company with Synchrony.

What a shame shame on u is not a good review is going to make any difference but really I have been a Sam's Club and a card holder for Synchrony Bank for the longest I've always paid on time or always have paid over the minimum amount that has been needed throughout the epidemic and for One Missed payment that I happen to overlook that wasn't even much keeping my overall debt ratio under 20 you guys have the balls to drop my credit limit to a point where shopping at the store there is no point no worries I'm going to cancel this card with you guys

The absolute worst, they're basically a scam business, setup ridiculous products to rob customers, like charging a huge deferred interest even if you paid off the entire card. To top it off they will tack on ridiculous interest rates. They told me via the phone, feel free to complain and we can help you document the complain but we're not dropping any of our charges. It's a scam business that has partner with Living Spaces to rip off customers. Don't get anything from either company.

They FAILED to take the mandated IRS required 10% witholding tax from a scheduled withdrawal from my IRA account. Yesterday, Pamela, told me it was an ERROR, but! They refused to make me whole and fix it. Today, I reported them to the IRS via our US Congressman's office via Email, Jamaal B. They still are "holding" US Treasury funds! That's fraud. ZERO "stars" should be choice here, not one! My impression is that they are doing this to keep their balance sheet artificially high, so they can get more cash from the Fed. Reserve Bank. We will see what develops from this situation.

I have a Lazy Boy account that I haven't used in a couple of years, so, without notification to me, Synchrony reduced the credit limit by $2500 which in turn lowered my credit score. Checking my score is how I found out the credit limit was lowered. So, I called and cancelled this account which will further reduce my credit score, but I don't care. I am tired of doing business with companies that don't deserve my business. As soon as I pay off my Care Credit account this month, I'll close that account also.

The worst bank and partnership Amazon has ever started. I would buy on Amazon and even though I would charge it to my personal credit card or gift card it would STILL wind up on this stupid synchrony bank amazon card. Every month I would log in to pay the payment and it would say my info was wrong. So I closed the account, not one but 3 times before they ever actually closed it. Horrible, partnership and bank. When I wanted to close the account they never even tried to make it good for me. They just do not care!!!!

I received a letter yesterday that my CD had renewed into another 2 year term at a measly 0.65%. I called today to terminate the CD. I spoke to the first agent and a manager but both were inflexible about the >$60 termination fee. There is no way to set the CD renewal/termination options online. Customers must call the bank to do this. I'm taking all of my money out of this bank.

First I had a credit card limit of 3000 dollars with Rooms to Go who told me I had 5 years to pay this off. I Missed one payment and they reduced my credit limit to 2500 dollars before I knew it. They review your credit report often I am told and this was most likely a factor. I miss another payment a few months later and they have CLOSED MY ACCOUNT AND REPORTED MY WHOLE BALANCE TO CREDIT REPORT. They will ruin your credit. I will never get a credit card with them again if I can help it.

Stay Away from all Sychrony Bank Cards. They are crooks. I have 2 CC's from Furniture Stores. They will take additional funds from your account for no reason. They never have an exact answer to your question. They charge you to talk to a live person. If you have to shop at any of their stores, use cash. They even hold checks to the very last second making your usual monthly payment late. Don't close your accounts. This will cause a credit drop. Just leave it at zero balance and leave your future headache's behind. A loan shark would be an easier choice.

The absolute WORST company I’ve ever dealt with, enough to nearly give my wife a nervous breakdown. Our primary issue is the denial of charges on our credit card from major fortune 100 companies on the premise they are fraud. All with no recourse to unblock the charges. Trying to communicate with the foreign CS people they hire is like translating a foreign language by phone and no supervisor to speak with. It’s take it or leave it and we are leaving it. Don’t make the same mistake.

Looks like the Synchrony Bank holds payments sent by mail, processing them on the next day after due date, than charges the fee and very high interest charge. I send payments by mail 10 - 14 days prior to the due date along with other payments, all other payments processed 3 - 4 days later, the Synchrony bank holds the payment to be able to charge the fee. Really bad proctice, I think, it should be investigated.

I have auto pay and have paid two years with no charges being made to my jcpenny account and it says I have late payment and my balance has maxed out what started as 300. In charges to the card is now 1083. Have called and inquired why and the lady in Idia where the customer care center is says as she reads the computer screen im sorry I can't help you with that because we can only see what you owe not your charging activity but we appreciate your auto pay enrollment and great payment history..SYNCHRONY BANK IS CROOKS AND ARE FRAUDING PEOPLE!

IF NO STARS WAS AN OPTION…. I AM ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED WITH SYNCHRONY BANK. IT AUTOMATICALLY CLOSES PEOPLES CARDS KNOWING IT AFFECTS PEOPLES CREDIT, ITS DISGUSTING. I HAVE NOT MISSED ONE PAYMENT. I had the Care Credit card. I had not used it and the balance was 0. Out of nowhere one day I received a significant drop in my credit score because Synchrony bank dropped my credit usage from about 1300 to around $500. I can't remember the exact about but it made my credit score go down 15 points. I didn't receive anything in the mail, and as I stated before my balance was 0 and I always paid them on time. Then about 4 months later I receive a letter saying they have closed my account with no notice, which again made my credit score drop. I will Never use them again.

When I got home I called them, to find out what happened???) The Customer Rep hung up on me! The end of the call survey got an earful. We had a rooms to go credit card it had a $1000 limit , we bought furniture for $800. The very first month they dropped our limit to $800. I paid half the balance the next month , so should have roughly $400 debt and $400 credit , of course , minus interest etc . The next month I go to pay and the account is closed , no letter , no explanation , no answers. Nope never again, furniture fell apart within 6 months , no recourse and then this … I’ll not shop here again , even with cash , poor customer service , poor business practices…

Dishonest customer service. I asked if they hadn't any instrument with higher yield than the .25% on their 6 month CD. They said nothing higher for that period. I later discovered that their savings account offered doubled that rate with no penalty for withdrawal. When I inquired about this, they informed me that the customer has to do their own research. I was forced to take significant penalty when I cashed the CD.

The worst bank. Statements are made to make you make a mistake and pay interest. They only include minimum, current balance and all your purchases with numbers that make no sense. I have to ask them every month how much I have to pay to avoid interest and I have to ask multiple times until I get an amount that more than one agent know because guess what? Synchrony Bank removed $4,500 from my account when the approved payment was for $150. When speaking with customer service, they were able to reverse the transaction, but the money they took without permission is going to take 3 weeks to return to me! Christmas is in two weeks, and the best they can do is give me back my money they stole from me in 3 weeks. Absolutely ridiculous!

I have good credit 740-780 make over 200k a year. I had a 5k limit on the Amazon store card. Synchrony performed a random review of my credit and dropped my limit to $3830 without any notice and right before the holidays. Now my credit is going to take a hit because of this... Will never use this card and again and will close the account when I get another 5k card. Amazon this is the type of company you are partnered with. Shady AF!!!

Never able to talk to a supervisor, representative will transfer you back to the beginning where you'll get another rep. Great in a pinch but if you pay monthly payment online and get an email confirmation about your payment they do not draft it..... Charge you double payment and late fees the next month. Wish I could give zero stars. Opened several accounts with them kept my utilization under 30 % some 10% to 0 % . My payment history is 100% with synchrony and all cards they cut my limits to balances making all 100% taking over 200 points off my score. They said it was due to my credit report which nothing had changed since opened! Meanwhile I make payments each payment is followed by more available credit lines reduced? Pay card off=close account. Meanwhile other cards increase my limits. Only owe 2 cards with them never again worst bank ever!

Synchrony closed my JTV account because they said I had too many revolving accounts. I had the account for a year and had never missed a payment and never was late with my payment to them. They did not send me a letter or inform me in any kind of way that my account was closed. When I got online to make a payment is when I found out and the customer service was rude. I would not ever recommend them to anyone.

They are doing a bad job of managing their clients receivables. This bank has been the collector of three companies I have done business with. I'm now cancelling the use of these three companies for erroneous billing and collection practices. I have been a longtime customer paying mostly my accounts in full upon billing. If I use these companies again, I will pay cash at time of purchase. I can't imagine anyone paying their 24.7% interest charges.

Customer service is horrible. The problem: Synchrony was showing the wrong phone number on my account. I placed 2 calls, both started with incredibly long wait times to talk to a rep. The first rep gave me wrong info, and failed to help. The second rep was a bit better, but also gave me wrong info (blamed it on TransUnion). I had to argue to talk to a manager. That finally happened after being put on hold multiple times. The manager finally fixed it: so it was lack of training at Synchrony that was the root cause. RUN from this organization, it's HORRIBLE.

I have had several cards with Synchrony and always paid on time every time. Every time you buy something with a high cost and they issue you a card to cover that amount and you start paying it down they cut the limit voiding your open to buy numbers on your credit reports. It is a shame that any business does business with this third quality bank. Every time this has happened my credit score was the same or better than when the card was issued but by dropping the limits it damages your overall score. The score I would give Synchrony Bank on a scale of 100-700 is no better than 125!

Their back room people (who we are not allowed to talk to) have been reviewing it for months! If they need help I am fast and thorough! What happened to good customer service? When I called last month to close my account I was told to pay the balance due to close my account and the rep stated the account was now closed. When I looked online the account was still active. I proceeded to close it and the following month I came across the surprised that there was a fee added and a second fee applied to the late fee. This was after the consumed account and original interest was paid. Original amount consumed was about $56, last payment was $85, and the fees after account was closed are about $70. More than the original amount.

This is the worst bank EVER! Do not use it! You get penalized for paying off your credit card with them. Even tho you payment is processed Synchrony holds your money for over a week and you can’t use your credit card! I’ve never heard of a bank holding your money and at your card is paid off but you are not allowed too use it up too 21 days! This is usery and they are a fraudulent institition! BEWARE! Also the supervisors are rude and uncooperative! Ama on you need too get rid of them and use a real bank!

0 Stars for this bank. I couldn't make an online payment, I couldn't make a payment over the phone. When I sent a check for the loan payment it took them almost a month to post it. Almost impossible to contact customer service, and when I did, they were clueless and incompetent. I finally gave up, defaulted on the loan, and settled the loan in FULL for LESS than the amount owed.

I called csmr service to explain what happened they ended up canceling my account. Because I stopped the payment due to their error. I no longer trust this bank.

Would rate zero stars if possible. They will reduce your credit line after a large payment in retaliation of your dissatisfaction over their lack of communication, argumentative customer care agents and incompetence of getting you a replacement card for a expiring card. Oh, and the reduction is made without any prior communication through old fashioned snail mail or email for that matter. They’ll just graciously take your large lump sum payment and lower your credit line and leave you with a few bucks afterwards.

Synchrony Bank is the worst company that I have ever done business with. I was wondering why my balance wasn’t going down. I called them and went up three chains of command disputing the fact that they told me any extra money paid above minimum should be going towards principle. Management told me multiple times they have always placed a percentage of minimum payment towards interest & remaining towards balance, but when you pay extra they have never put extra paid towards balance. Beware of getting screwed like I have been getting.

When I set up auto payment with Synchrony, my next payment was late. Instead of billing me any amount I might have been short or simply charging me a single late fee, they added a $2 fee to my payment every month so I didn't even know I was being charged a fee. Also, I didn't receive any notification that I'm aware of that I was being charged this fee. I only found it when I logged into my account and viewed my activity, but by then they had already charged me a total of $44 in fees. In response to this, I paid off my card and closed my account.
