Every Medical Guardian medical alert system is identical in that they have a base station, a wearable emergency button, and provide two-way communication. Each system also has a backup battery that has a battery life of at least 24 hours. However, systems like the Mobile Guardian device operate on a cellular network that allows you to take the alert button and miniature base station anywhere.
Systems like the basic Classic Guardian operate on a landline connection and have an alert button that can be worn as a wristband or pendant. When the emergency button is activated, you're immediately put in contact with a representative at Medical Guardian's certified monitoring center. Here's a breakdown of each offered system:
This plan starts at $0.97 per day.
The Classic Guardian is the lowest priced package Medical Guardian offers. The medical alert system is meant to keep you safe in and around your home with a 1,300 range. The system connects to your landline phone and the medical alert device is a wearable waterproof button. The system includes a built-in speaker with two-way communication and power outage protection with a 32-hour backup battery.
This plan starts at $1.12 per day.
The Home Guardian is a wireless medical alert system that does not require a phone landline. The system works with a nationwide cellular network that gives you access to Medical Guardian's 24/7 monitoring center at any time. The system comes with a wearable medical alert button, which has a 600-foot range from the base station.
This plan starts at $2.58 per day.
The Family Guardian is meant to combine medical alert systems with activity monitoring. With three, in-home safety sensors, The Family Guardian keeps track of activity in the home each day. This is great for family members who want to check on their loved ones. The Family Guardian also comes with a mobile app that you can enable to send you instant notifications to your email or smartphone when one of the safety sensors detects a difference in your loved one's routine or when the help button is triggered. The Family Guardian includes a 1,300-foot range from the base station.
This plan starts at $1.61 per day.
The Mobile Guardian is a portable mobile medical alert system that functions on built-in GPS technology. This enables customers to use their medical alert devices outside of their home. The device includes a wearable button that has a 350-foot range from the device. The system has location tracking and two-way communication with an adjustable volume speaker.
This plan starts at $1.28 per day.

This plan starts at $1.45 per day.
The Freedom Guardian is the only package that does not include free equipment. Because it is an advanced smartwatch, the Freedom Guardian requires a one-time equipment fee of $99. You can find more information regarding the smartwatch capabilities below under the section "The Freedom Guardian Medical Alert Watch."
In addition to a variety of package offerings, Medical Guardian also has accessories you can add to your plan for a small fee. Prices for each product vary, but here is a list of the offered accessories:
Every Medical Guardian alert system offers fall detection except for the Mobile Guardian system. Fall detection pendants are equipped with a sensor that is triggered any time a fall occurs, which then immediately sends a signal to Medical Guardian's monitoring center informing them of the emergency.
Members may cancel their Medical Guardian services at any point without charge. As opposed to companies such as Life Alert, you won't be locked into any long-term contracts with the expectation of buying out. This allows customers to try out Medical Guardian to see if it is the right medical alert provider for them.
Medical Guardian offers a lifetime warranty on all its products. If for some reason the equipment is damaged or malfunctions, Medical Guardian will replace it free of charge. Having free equipment and a lifetime warranty on all products ensures money for equipment never has to come out of the customer's pocket.
100% of Medical Guardian's central station monitoring center operators are certified and committed to CSAA's five points of excellence. This can provide peace of mind to medical alert owners knowing they can rely on Medical Guardian's services. Medical Guardian is also UL Listed, FM approved, and ESA Security certified.
Service monitoring is 24/7, and Medical Guardian's fall detection can detect a fall without any action from the individual, so you don't need to worry about calling for help, as your device will do so on its own. Every system also offers two-way communication so in the case of an emergency, you can talk directly to Medical Guardian's monitoring center that is available 24/7.
Medical Guardian's home-based medical alert system has a 1,300-foot range. This is a much larger range than most medical alert providers out there who only offer closer to 600–1,000 feet of coverage from the base station. Medical Guardian's long range gives medical alert users more freedom in how far they can travel away from the base station while still having full coverage in case of a fall or another emergency.
Medical Guardian's medical alert devices have a 120-hour battery life, which is one of the longest in the industry. Many medical alert companies have medical alert systems that only have 24-hour battery lives and need to be charged every night, which can be a pain if you want to wear the medical alert device while you sleep. Having a longer battery life ensures you have more coverage with less difficutly.
Medical Guardian has customer service representatives waiting to assist you whether you have questions about ordering equipment or if you are experiencing difficulty operating the system. Members have the ability to order online or by calling in, and there is an online support team prepared to answer any questions.
Medical Guardian has a new high-tech medical alert device that is a smartwatch for seniors called The Freedom Guardian. This new medical alert watch is designed to be sleek and convenient to wear every day. The Freedom Guardian doesn't need a base unit to connect to, and you can wear it with you anywhere you go.
Caregivers or family members can download the Companion mobile app to communicate with Freedom Guardian wearers at any time as well as track their current location.
The Freedom Guardian has various features to aid your health and safety as well as additional perks. Here are a few of the Freedom Guardian features to be aware of:
**Free equipment offer does not include the Freedom Guardian system.
While Medical Guardian does offer some of the best equipment and services in the industry, there are still some aspects of their service that require additional attention prior to purchasing. Medical Guardian does not offer an emergency device combo package at this time. This means that consumers will not be able to group multiple items together to receive a discounted rate.

How is Medical Guardian’s medical alert service different than calling 9-1-1?
In emergencies, you don’t always have access to a phone. Having a medical alert system means you can request help at any time with the press of a button. Also, if you experience a fall, you likely won’t be able to reach a phone, so having a fall detection or regular medical alert pendant enables you to call for help.
Medical alert services also make sure emergency responders have the necessary information they need to best assist you—information you may be unable to provide in an emergency situation. Medical Guardian’s monitoring center will keep your information on file and give emergency responders the details they need, including your exact location, your preferred hospital, any medications you’re taking, medical conditions you may have, etc.
Also, if it’s a non-emergency situation, Medical Guardian’s monitoring center can contact your listed caregiver to assist you rather than emergency responders.
My father is recently widowed, and since he still drives, we wanted to get the GPS features for him. It helps us keep track of him while he passes the grieving process. Their consultant was very helpful, I believe it was Sargent, Robin Sargent. We're glad we haven't had to use it yet, but Medical Guardian has always been at the top of all the reviews I've seen, so that swayed me over to them.
As a retired person with multiple disabilities, I'm not around very much, but I like to be mobile, and for the most part, the system works very well for me. I think that it is well designed, because it has the portable speaker, and that makes more sense than other systems I've researched. Th other systems that I've tried were senseless, and you had to take it off in the middle of the night. This device allows you to wear it in the shower! Plus, it's reasonably priced. Also, the representative I spoke to helped me choose the system that would suit me best, and even helped me save some money. On top of that, the guy that activated the system was extremely helpful. He gave me some tips on how to use the device, stayed with me on the phone while I tested the system, and made sure it was working right.
It's very simple to use. I wear it 24/7, and if there's a problem, I just push the button in my arm and somebody answers.
My wife falls, so we got the Duo base unit and the GPS unit online. We know it works really good because we accidentally got the button pushed and EMT's came to her aid, so we know it works fine. It's very good to use.
I have a puppy and grandson that have set off the system a couple of times, just by bumping into me. That gives me a sense of security, so I think it's a great product. However, it's located in a spot where it's easily set off by outside influences.
This company uses deceptive practices to prey on vulnerable elderly people. In 2016, my then-92-year-old mother ordered a medical alert system from this company. She asked if they had a wrist monitor, and was told yes. When the system arrived, it was not what the salesperson promised her. It was instead one that goes around the neck, and was too heavy. She contacted the company and, based on their instructions, returned the material and cancelled the account. In 2017, they billed her credit card $599.40 for a year's service. (Which she did not request, did not authorize, and did not receive.) She contacted the company and advised them of this, and then filed a dispute with her credit card company. The credit card company ruled in her favor, acknowledging that this was a fraudulent charge. During the period when the dispute was being investigated, Medical Guardian continued to bill her, and to add service and late fees, in direct violation of Consumer Protection regulations. On June 7, 2017, Medical Guardian sent her a demand letter threatening to turn this account to collections. We contacted their 800 number and spoke to an agent, explaining the situation to him and repeating that this was a fraudulent charge and would not be paid. He said he would refer the matter to his supervisor and see that the account was not turned to collections. On June 17, she received a letter (dated June 12) from a collection agency. We are currently in the process of disputing this claim with the collection agency and will also pursue a formal complaint to the appropriate consumer protection agency. There are also calls being made to the Attorneys General of both PA and OR, as well as calls to AARP, which ran this company's ad in their magazine.
I have had this for 3 months and I like it. I test it every month and right away they respond. when I call customer service about a question they are very polite and helpful. the cord for the pendant I didn't like but its small enough to carry in my purse or pocket. glad I have it. gail hine.

J,L Smith Last June i was thinking about a medical alert because of an upcoming back surgery. I returned one from a different company because not enough info, no Reviews. Spoke to Agent K and i liked his knowledge of Medical Guardian. I went with the mobile Guardian days later after returning the other unit.I decided this past march on the Premium Guardian because i would often leave the mobile unit behind. Supervisor Mrs J. W overnighted A New premium Guardian to me when two other units failed to charge in my Area. She Really helped thru the activation process to make sure I Was pleased. The upgrade was worth it. I Didn't want the additional fee but glad i did. She was First Class all the way. Kudos 2 Medical Guardian
Takes days to get through on a telephone for customer service and then when you speak to someone they don't know what they are doing. Horrible.
Corrie Ann Boynton
I signed up with this company and stupidly paid a year in advance. I did not like any of the pendants or the charger. When I called to complain and cancel, I was told that I was contractually obligated to pay them 2 months service. This is the company that advertises No Contracts. The customer service reps was arrogant and rude. They charged me $102.18 to cancel.
I am executor and previously was POA for my father, who has been deceased since Jan. 10th, 2017. I just received a notice that he has been placed in collections due to delinquency of payments for the last 6 months. Let me advise where my frustration lies: I called Medical Guardian and spoke to someone in November of 2016 and advised that my dad was in the midst of moving into an assisted living center and no longer needed the services in which Medical Guardian provided in his home. I was told to send back the equipment and they would discontinue the service. I then placed a call in December 2017 to advise that amongst the move, the equipment had been misplaced. I was told, "Well, we have to have the equipment to stop billing and services." I advised that I would look for the unit and pendant and would call back with my findings. A week later, I again placed a call to Medical Guardian and advised I was unable to locate the base of the unit but I did find the pendant. I was then told that billing and services would continue until all items were returned. I then continued to look for the base unit. Unfortunately, it was not to be found. I then again placed another call to Medical Guardian and told them I would pay for the equipment; however, the rep that I spoke with advised that my father was paying an extra fee for insurance that covered this type of instance, e.g., lost equipment and she would communicate this to the billing department and services would discontinue, in addition I was told that I would not receive any further billings. Here, I thought I was finally going to have some peace of mind. My father then passed away shortly after on January 10th, 2017. I then received a bill towards the end of January 2017 and again placed another call to your agency advising that my dad had passed away and that I had been in touch with your company on several occasions only to explain the whole story again; I was again told that "it would be taken care of". Every single month since January of 2017 I have received, yet, another bill for my decedent father, keeping in mind, that I had placed calls to Medical Guaridan every month that a bill was received. I have been hung up on, told there would be no further worries, that communication would be sent over to the billing department for adjustments, a supervisor would call me back at my request; in which, I did not receive a call and I am now receiving a collections bill for my deceased father who no longer needed your services per mine and my father's request back in November 2016. Please note that I have spoken with nearly 9 or 10 representatives throughout the prior months. I spoke with Patricia from the collection department at extension 8137 today, June 7th, 2017 and she advised that she would look into the matter and I will have a call back no later than Friday, June 9th. This is very, very concerning for us consumers who do the right things but get mistreated and misunderstood by those who seem to really care less. I am hoping that this can be rectified for good.
The advertising is minimal and most of the information is gleaned from the salesperson. There is not an option for a wrist device if you want GPS. The device to wear as a "pendant" is like wearing a garage door opener around your neck -- its huge. I was told the dimensions were 2 inches long. What they failed to add was that it's also 4 inches wide. The button is not recessed so it gets pushed inadvertently while she's doing chores. The GPS function works well but it beeps when it's tracking to include at night when she isn't going anywhere (while its in the charger).
I just barely got mine, but when we were testing it we got somebody on the line right away. It didn't take long for the guy to call me and see if I was alright or not. They were nice and informed, and good information was given. Everything they said that they were ready to do, they did. I got it for myself 'cause I'm alone at home most of the time, and I use a walker. On a typical day, I go for a walk and it's more than the 300 yards, So I take the little white battery pack with me, and that way I don't have to worry about if I'm out of range or not. It's a very busy life; I like it very much.
We got it for someone else, and she's gonna be home alone now. She can do all her normal daily activities, you know, cooking food and walking around the house. We haven't yet needed it for an emergency. The company representatives were professional and friendly, and knew what they were talking about.
The representatives were nice; answer them! I purchased Medical Guardian for myself because I'm 96 years young and thought maybe I might need it in a year or two. I haven't used it yet; I haven't needed to, but I have it in case I need it. If anybody needs one, don't hesitate; get one now, that's all I can say.
We just got a Medical Guardian device hooked up for my my mother-in-law. I don't live with her, but I know that she wears it everyday. She had just recovered from a total knee replacement. The company representatives we spoke to were professional and accurately efficient.
The Medical Guardian representatives just explained everything to us, and it was fine. My girlfriend has COPD and she can't talk to call 911 so that's why we got it. She carries it with her, but we haven't used it yet since we've only had it a couple of days.
It seems like a fine company. I have no problem with it, I never notice actually having the device installed, so just keep up the good work. I've had all positive experiences, but I've never actually used it. I never called or anything, I never use that thing when I experience pain or anything like that, because I really don't experience anything, so I never actually talked to any of the people in person, or had an issue with it at all. It's for myself because of my irregular heart rhythm, but I just sleep within 6 feet of it every night and I don't do anything, I never notice it's over there.
I got Medical Guardian for someone else because he is in hospice and he has COPD, and he is home a lot by himself. He uses it all day long; just getting up and walking around the house and some things, it makes him safer. We haven't used it. The rep we spoke to made it very easy and simple. He was very nice and courteous and he knew a lot about the product.
I have the wristband and I just feel secured in having it. If anything did happen, I would be able to push the button and somebody would call and I'd be able to get assistance within a short period of time. If I do go out of the house, I take the monitor; I put it in a case and I take it with me, and I know that anywhere I go, any distance, I would be able to get help also. I haven't had to use it yet, thank heavens. I live by myself, and my husband died a year ago. I just felt it would be good for me to have in the house in case I have any problems. I'd be able to push the button and have assistance. The representatives of the company are very helpful. When I first got it, they explained to me how to use it, and I'm able to test it at any time that I want to, whether it's once a month or anytime that I feel necessary. I can test it without any problem. I just think that it's a very good asset for anybody who lives by themselves, or anybody who has an illness and wants to feel secure, whether they live in their house by themselves, or if they travel.
I purchased the service for my mother in case of an emergency. Although they've offered a positive experience, we really haven't had to use It yet. I do have to say that the representatives were good; they helped a lot.
My husband has asthma really bad, so he can use this in case he doesn't feel so well while driving. Plus, I need it as well. We haven't received the equipment yet, but we spoke to lady that answered all my questions. Everybody should purchase something like this in case of an emergency.
Usually, I carry a device with me at home, and use another one when I'm out in public. The person we spoke with was very clear about the service, and he answered all of my questions. Plus, they respond within seconds.
Of the two people we worked with, one was good and one was bad. We'd also suggest that they put out a decent manual of how to use it, with a readable font. We got it for my wife because she had a fall, and we wanted to be alert to any similar incident, but we haven't used it yet. They sold it to us, and It's been activated.
The pricing was comparable, it was very competitive. I got it for my husband because he's in poor health and I want to be sure that he is taken care of. I like that if he mashes the button he doesn't have to call 911; that they can call me instead if he's just needing to get in touch with me. The representative we spoke to was very helpful. We haven't used it yet; we haven't had the opportunity, as we haven't had it for but a few weeks.
When they shipped it by ground it took a week or more to get here, and then it was in the wrong house, so their shipping of the equipment was not satisfactory. But I wear it all the time, and I wear it out by the barn and outside. I got it for myself because I'm almost 92 years old. I haven't had to use it for an emergency yet, but I have tested it in different areas of my farm. They've always been very nice, and very prompt in answering.
I purchased it for my mom. She's elderly and needs someone to keep an eye on her in case she might fall. Typically we don't need it, but she wears her pendant and she does well. She's never had to use it yet, we just signed up. They were very pleasant, there was no problem when speaking with them when we were trying to hook it up and activate it, Except that we were transferred several times, and ended up talking to people that didn't seem to understand what we wanted to do, and who had nothing to do with Medical Guardian. They need to get better organized and know who they're supposed to talk to and how they're supposed to set it up. Everything except the setup has been extremely positive.
I use Medical Guardian while traveling. I'm 80 years old, so I felt like it's time I needed it. I live alone, but I have a beach house and I like to be covered while I'm there and while getting to it. I really haven't used it but a little, I haven't had it very long. It's very fast working with the representatives. They were very, very nice, very helpful. I have absolutely no problem with them.
I ordered this alert for my son, who was recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. The only problem he had was he would just move or reach for something and the alarm would go off. He soon became agitated with it, so I figured the only thing on this unit that could be at fault was the "fall detection". I called the company, went over the situation with them, they agreed. We cancelled the "fall detection" alert. For those who are ordering this unit, please just be aware the fall detection is really for those people who really are going to be falling quite a bit. For him, I ordered it because if he went into a diabetic seizure or coma and would fall, it would go off and alert someone. But it's really not for that. The fall detection is MORE for an unsteady person (someone who's had a stroke, or heart attack, etc.) who would be more apt to fall at any given time during a day, NOT for someone who is just going through their daily routine of chores or work. I hope anyone reading this can see the difference that it makes. If the unit alert goes off without reason, it's the fall detection dong it.

Thank you Warren (Rep.) as well as Alexa (Supervisor) for being sympathic, patient, & understanding in our telephone conversation this am. I'm so pleased in the manner you both conducted yourselves, that my wish is that our conversation was indeed recorded. I believe "upper management " would be impressed and proud to know that Warren and Alexa represented the Company, Medical Guardian , with pride, honor, and dignity. Again, Thank You Both!
I haven't had to push the button yet, but I usually visit my friends close by and bring the Wrist Watch with me. When I called to get it set up, it was really easy; she made everything really simple for me.
The guy that sold me the system was very nice, very informative into his product, and he did great follow up. He wasn't pushy, and I even enjoyed talking to him. His way of speaking is what really made me go for Medical Guardian; he's a great sales person.
My mother is 93 years old and is very active, so she keeps the devices with her all the time, in case of an emergency. At this point, they've offered a very positive experience; I don't have anything bad to say about it.
Thankfully, my mother-in-law has not had to use it, but she wears it around her neck all the time. She's safe and comfortable in the house now, and if she falls, we know somebody will be there to help. The Medical Guardian group has been wonderful to work with. The representative gave me all the information I was looking for when I spoke to them. We do not regret going with Medical Guardian, and so far, we've had a great experience.
When I test it every month, the people that answer have been very courteous, very thorough and made sure that nothing was wrong. I purchased it for my parents because they're elderly now, and both had strokes already. I know that if something goes wrong, they would call the emergency services. Plus, it's very easy to use, and if they can't get a hold of them, I get a phone call right away so I can go check on them. It helps me sleep at night, and it allows me to be at work without having to worry about my parent's wellbeing.
My father carries the devices with him during his daily routine. As far as emergencies, we haven't used it, however, the representatives have always been alright.
The gentlemen I spoke with was very nice, he was very friendly, very helpful. I'm on the go all the time, so I always have their watch or wristband with me. It's been a very good experience.
They are very patient every time I tested the device and spoke to them. We had no issues at all; they were just very nice, considering they were speaking to an 89 year old person.
I feel there was a misunderstanding with the representatives because I ordered it 10 days ago, and I have not received They should get the equipment to your customer a whole lot sooner.
I really don't like the necklace. The cord is kind of rough and it irritates my neck on the back. It looks kind of ugly around the neck as well. Besides that, I spoke to some very informative and helpful representatives. They were very good.
I wouldn't know how their people were because my brother handles that, however, I know it definitely works. I was asleep and I rolled over on the button by accident, and before I knew it, everybody showed up.
My daughter is disabled, so she usually wears it in the mornings and just takes it off at night. Medical Guardian has offered a positive experience; plus, their representatives were helpful.
This service makes me feel more confident and relieved each time I go out. I spoke to a lady through the phone, and she was very helpful. The fact of having it was great, and they answered instantly after we moved it near the window where we got better reception.
I purchased Medical Guardian for my dad; he falls from time to time. Speaking to them was good, I didn't have a problem with them. Thank goodness he hasn't had to use it yet.
Unfortunately, I have Parkinson's disease. After several falls, my wife and I decided I needed it, and it's worked just fine so far. If you ask me about the representatives, I would say they were great! They explained everything and were very helpful. They told me how everything works, and explained the key box and how to test it. They're just very well and very professional. I was very happy with them. I think they're better than any others that I talked to, and I like the fact that all of their operatives are here in the US, so that was good to hear.
Speaking to the representatives was great! Everyone was very helpful, and definitely provided us all the information we needed. My mother actually fell this weekend, and the experience was awesome! She pushed the button, and they responded immediately and got emergency services there. I think everything is great! Starting with the initial customer service representatives, when it came to buying it, to the actual shipping of the devices, to the ease of how to set it up and use it. They great all the way around.
My dad is an elderly person, and falls frequently, so we decided this would the best option for him. He wears the device around his neck, and although he has not used it yet, Medical Guardian has offered a very positive experience. We spoke to some really nice people on the phone.
Everything went very smooth with them. Their customer service agents explained everything, and sent the devices on time.
The last time I fell, I was outside, and unfortunately my husband didn't hear me, so now I wear the device each time I the house. My experience with the representatives has been very comforting, because they really are on the ball with this. I haven't used it yet, but I know everything will be taken care of in a quick manner if something happens to me.
It took them 1 minute for someone to respond the last time I called, so that was not a pleasant experience. The sales person, however, was very helpful when I first purchased it.
