Medical Guardian has been an authority in fall detection since they opened their doors in 2005. The in-home medical alert company offers medical alert systems for those who may need emergency services on the go as well as at home. Its medical alert packages have top-rated accessories, including its lockboxes and fall detection pendants that are compatible with the in-home systems and medical alert devices with GPS functionality. The company also has CSAA certified monitoring centers that are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and work to keep your loved ones safe.
Currently, Medical Guardian is considered one of the best medical alert companies in the medical alert device industry. Medical Guardian has low monthly monitoring rates, and the company does not charge any activation or equipment fees**. Read Medical Guardian reviews below to see what consumers have to say about the medical alert company.
**Free equipment offer does not include the Freedom Guardian system.
Medical Guardian members get alert equipment free of charge** with no setup fees or long-term contracts. The systems are backed by a lifetime warranty and include access to their 24/7 monitoring centers in the event of an emergency.
Depending on the package, Medical Guardian charges around $20–$40 for round-the-clock medical alert monitoring.
Medical Guardian offers lower monitoring fees with more extensive features and higher quality equipment compared to its competitors, making the company one of the most quality and affordable medical alert options in the industry. For many other medical alert providers, you'll pay a high upfront fee for equipment as well as a hefty monthly monitoring fee.
Medical Guardian has multiple medical alert packages to choose from. This gives customers the versatility to pick the medical alert plan that works best for them and their situation. Whether you just want coverage while you're at home, or if you want 24/7 coverage for on-the-go, Medical Guardian has you covered.
We break down each offered package below, or you can find a product overview with pictures here.

This plan starts at $1.29 per day.
The Mini Guardian is the smallest and sleekest medical alert device Medical Guardian offers. It comes in three colors, including black, silver, and white. Its capabilities are similar to Medical Guardian's other offered medical alert systems and is water-resistant, includes GPS tracking, and has a five-day battery life. This plan does require a one-time equipment fee, unlike the other basic medical alert packages.
Being 1/2 the width and weight of a regular medical alert system, this device is best for consumers who care about the convenience of size and would prefer a smaller device compared to a regular-sized system and don't mind a one-time equipment fee. The mini can clip onto bags, purses, belts, clothing, etc. for ease of use. You can also add fall detection to the mini if you'd like extra protection. The range on this device is unlimited.
This plan starts at $1.45 per day.
The Freedom Guardian is the only package that does not include free equipment. Because it is an advanced smartwatch, the Freedom Guardian requires a one-time equipment fee of $249.95. You can find more information regarding the smartwatch capabilities below under the section "The Freedom Guardian Medical Alert Watch."
This plan starts at $1.28 per day.
The Active Guardian is a portable medical alert system with built-in GPS and Wi-Fi technology. You can use this system at home or on-the-go since it functions on AT&T's cellular network. The system includes a wearable medical alert button, two-way communication, and location tracking with GPS.
This plan starts at $1.61 per day.
The Mobile Guardian is a portable mobile medical alert system that functions on built-in GPS technology. This enables customers to use their medical alert devices outside of their homes. The device includes a wearable button that has a 350-foot range from the device. The system has location tracking and two-way communication with an adjustable volume speaker.
This plan starts at $2.58 per day.
The Family Guardian is meant to combine medical alert systems with activity monitoring. With three, in-home safety sensors, The Family Guardian keeps track of activity in the home each day. This is great for family members who want to check on their loved ones. The Family Guardian also comes with a mobile app that you can enable to send you instant notifications to your email or smartphone when one of the safety sensors detects a difference in your loved one's routine or when the help button is triggered. The Family Guardian includes a 1,300-foot range from the base station.
In addition to a variety of package offerings, Medical Guardian also has accessories you can add to your plan for a small fee. Prices for each product vary, but here is a list of the offered accessories:
Every Medical Guardian alert system offers fall detection except for the Mobile Guardian system. Fall detection pendants are equipped with a sensor that is triggered any time a fall occurs, which then immediately sends a signal to Medical Guardian's monitoring center informing them of the emergency.
Members may cancel their Medical Guardian services at any point without charge. As opposed to companies such as Life Alert, you won't be locked into any long-term contracts with the expectation of buying out. This allows customers to try out Medical Guardian to see if it is the right medical alert provider for them.
Medical Guardian offers a lifetime warranty on all its products. If for some reason the equipment is damaged or malfunctions, Medical Guardian will replace it free of charge. Having free equipment and a lifetime warranty on all products ensures money for equipment never has to come out of the customer's pocket.
100% of Medical Guardian's central station monitoring center operators are certified and committed to CSAA's five points of excellence. This can provide peace of mind to medical alert owners knowing they can rely on Medical Guardian's services. Medical Guardian is also UL Listed, FM approved, and ESA Security certified.
Service monitoring is 24/7, and Medical Guardian's fall detection can detect a fall without any action from the individual, so you don't need to worry about calling for help, as your device will do so on its own. Every system also offers two-way communication so in the case of an emergency, you can talk directly to Medical Guardian's monitoring center that is available 24/7.
Medical Guardian's monitoring centers provide bilingual support for those who cannot speak English.
Medical Guardian's home-based medical alert system has a 1,300-foot range. This is a much larger range than most medical alert providers out there who only offer closer to 600–1,000 feet of coverage from the base station.
Medical Guardian's long range from the base station gives medical alert users more freedom in how far they can travel away from the base station while still having full coverage in case of a fall or another emergency.
Medical Guardian's medical alert devices have a 120-hour battery life, which is one of the longest in the industry. Many medical alert companies have medical alert systems that only have 24-hour battery lives and need to be charged every night, which can be a pain if you want to wear the medical alert device while you sleep. Having a long battery life ensures you have more coverage with less difficulty.
Medical Guardian has customer service representatives waiting to assist you with whatever you need, whether you have questions about ordering equipment or if you are experiencing difficulty operating the system. Members have the ability to order online or by calling in, and there is an online support team prepared to answer any questions.
Also important to note, when analyzing Medical Guardian's reviews, one of the most often referenced positives about the company was its responsiveness and exceptional customer service.

Medical Guardian does not offer an emergency device combo package at this time. This means that consumers will not be able to group multiple items together to receive a discounted rate.

Medical alert services also make sure emergency responders have the necessary information they need to best assist you—information you may be unable to provide in an emergency situation. Medical Guardian’s monitoring center will keep your information on file and give emergency responders the details they need, including your exact location, your preferred hospital, any medications you’re taking, medical conditions you may have, etc.
Also, if it’s a non-emergency situation, Medical Guardian’s monitoring center can contact your listed caregiver to assist you rather than emergency responders.

Last time I used it, it happened at 9 o'clock at night. They answered and things worked out fine.
I got it since I really needed the protection at home. I've had to use it a couple of times. On one occasion I fell and broke my hip, a different time I fell when I was getting out of a cab. Both times they were prompt and courteous when they responded and did a good job. They've taken good care of me.
I've had to use it one or twice and we've had quick responses as far as I know. Once I just fell unconscious and, next thing I knew, I was in an ambulance on my way to the hospital. They seem to be very nice people and they do what they're supposed to do as far as I know. I haven't had any problems with it and have gotten good results. I guess it could always be cheaper though.
When I've had to contact them, they've been right there for me. The device is good, though I would like to have a wearable device that did not require a separate contact device to communicate. The service also costs too much.
I looked at several options that came up on television, but I wasn't sure about any of them. I decided to check first and was very satisfied with all the answers that I got from Medical Guardian, so I signed up. The only times I've had to use it in the 5 months since I got it have been to test it. I check it on the first of every month to make sure that it's working. I've been satisfied with their response every time. Whenever I've talked with them I've been satisfied with the answers that they give me. They've solved any problems that come up and assure me that everything will be taken care of.
I looked at the reviews of companies that were listed at the very top and compared them to each other. They covered everything that I wanted and I liked that they had the remote system that lets you travel with it. Since their rates were not as high as others and provided more, I just went with them. I've never had to use it, but when I've accidentally bumped it, they responded immediately. I was able to just cancel the alarm and everything was fine.
The county office for the elderly recommended this company to me. I've never had to use it, but I wear it every day. When I call in to test it, they always answer my call pretty quickly. I have no concerns about it.
I wear it all the time. I haven't had any situation where I needed them to come out and get me. However, there was one time when I was coming up from the basement. It was very high, I tripped and fell off. They came on right away and talked with me to check if I needed help. Apparently the thing just knew when I fell and things worked out for me after that. They are very accommodating and I trust them.
My children were the ones that decided to get this for me. I use it whenever my wife or my son leave and I'm left alone at home. As far as I'm concerned, we haven't had any problems with it.
Mary L Vera
I got it for my mother to use it. Recently we had an incident where she misplaced it. I called in to see if there was a way to locate the thing but there wasn't. I was a little disappointed with that.
My daughter picked this for me. It went off by accident one time and the response that I got was fantastic.
We got it for my mother and have been pretty happy with the whole plan. This is the easiest system to use out there. She hasn't had to use it that often. There was one time when she fell and they tried to contact me but I never received a call. It wasn't Medical Guardian's fault, that had more to do with my phone carrier. Eventually they were able to get a hold of my husband and it turned out to be a minor incident. They have been very helpful and accommodating so far, not to mention that it has been fun to work with them. The service gives me peace of mind. I know that my mom has a way to contact emergency personnel if she ever needs them.
I was interested in them because of everything they covered. The price was also just right and fit within my budget, so I gave them a call to learn more about it. They explained everything to me and, since I was very satisfied, I decided to go ahead and sign up. It's a very good service. I'm always very pleased when I talk to them. They always speak to me very plainly and in ways that I can understand everything they say. They don't use high terms or anything of the sort.
They are much better than the other company I had. I haven't used it much lately but I have a tendency to fall and I'm usually unable to get back up on my own. Whenever that happens I push the button and ask them to call security in the place where I live so they can come for me. Their response time is good, I'm pretty happy with it. Of course, I would prefer if I didn't have to wait at all. I always get a phone ringing before somebody answers and after that I have to wait for them to contact someone else to help me. I wish I could just go straight to whoever can come for me. I like the way it works though. I'm pleased with it and I'll continue using it.
My children chose it. I wear the bracelet all the time and when I've called to see if it's working they have answered promptly. I feel like I'm safe with it.
I saw it on TV and decided to give them a call. The person that I spoke to went over everything about the device. It all just sounded like a beneficial thing for my mom, so I signed up. The person that walked me through that was very helpful and gave me all the information that I needed, including billing information. I don't quite remember the range of the thing, but I think she might need something that works while she's away from the base unit in the living room. That way she would be safe in case she falls out in the park or something. The device is very easy to use. She keeps it on her and I'm glad about that. When she has accidentally pushed it things have worked well. It's a useful thing.
I will put it on in the morning and whenever I get up at night. I always make sure that it's charged before I go to bed and keep it by my bed on a table. When I need it, I just push the button and talk to the person that answers. It always works for me and does that it's supposed to do. The only thing is that I keep rolling over it and triggering the alert unintentionally. I don't know if there's anything they can do about that.
I switched from a different company to Medical Guardian. I haven't fallen down or anything but so far I'm very happy with it. The only problem that I have is with the wristband, it's too big. I actually had to punch extra holes in it to tie it down and around my hand. The service is also a little pricey.

I needed a service like this because I had a bad fall last year. I lived alone and I had to scream loud enough for my neighbor to hear me and come and help me. Both him and my son came running in and called 911. I had to be sent to the hospital because I had damage in my back. It was so bad that my children told me I needed to have something like this. When I saw them in a magazine, I decided to call them. The person that I talked to was able to answer all of my questions and made me feel comfortable. The price was more than fair, especially considering that it was all insured in case I broke or lost the thing. In the end, I signed up. I'm very pleased with it. I have it in my pocket whenever there's no one else in my house and also take it with me when I'm out and about. It's convenient. Whenever I call, they get back to me within seconds, even if I set it off by accident. One day when I was at my doctor's office I forgot that I had it in my pocket. When I went back home and started cooking dinner I set it off by accident and they called me. They knew exactly where I was and made sure that I was alright. They always answer my questions and make me feel comfortable. When I lost the item I called them and in a couple of days they sent out a new one for me. The price is worth it.
I fell on the floor once and was there for quite a while. I didn't think I could get back up on my own, so I pushed the button. Everything turned out well. They were here really soon and helped me get back up. They were very alert and called the people they were supposed to call. I think it's all working well.
It's for my mother. I picked it because it was reasonably priced and we didn't need to hook it up to a telephone line for it to work. The one time she should've used it she forgot she had it on her wrist. I've never had a problem with it though, it seems to be doing pretty well so far. They've always been there for us when we test it. We haven't tried moving it around and testing it, so we'll do that next month.
I got it because of the price. It works fine as far as I now and I always get a response when I call.
Louise And Charles Mangano
We decided to go with them because of the price and because we could cancel the program if we needed to. My mother hits the button and we get to called her. Any time I've called them they take good care of her and solve the problem or issue. The only thing is that it is not loud enough. It's comfortable to know that my parents have it in case they need it.
I purchased this for my mother after researching online. It just felt like they were well suited for our needs. The particular reason why I wanted her to have their device was that it had GPS. She drives and leaves her home often, so this worked for her because it didn't limit her to the house. Everyday, she puts in on when she gets up in the morning and wears it all day long. It's with her when she goes out, even when she goes to the gym. Actually, she accidentally bumped it when she was there once and someone called her immediately to know if she was alright. She was startled because she hadn't realized it had happened but we were very happy with the quick response that she got. This is our third year renewing the service and we're very happy with it, it's working.
I got it for my mom because the service was affordable and convenient. We also liked that they provided us with a lock that we can put outside our front door. If emergency services need to come in, they can use the key to get into the house without breaking in. So far we've had a good experience with them. We test it every month and it works well. So far they have been very dependable and have been there for us when we needed them. The device had to be used when my mom accidentally slipped and fell in the kitchen. She cracked her skull open but she was able to use the Medical Guardian device to get help. She would've died without it. They're very trustworthy.
Mary & Julius Nemeth
We've had several services before that we didn't like. We decided to try this one and so far we've liked it better than the rest. When we need it, we get help quickly. Basically, all I need to do is push the button and the people come on right away and send out the emergency squad. One thing I don't particularly like about the device is the light that shines from it. It's on all the time and since we have it in the bedroom we have to angle it so it doesn't bother us at night.
Edward N Manning
It's for my dad, we just research them and we felt that it was the best one because it can go straight to a hospital. Usually they will call me first and then I can decide whether to call the hospital or 911 and I like that. One time my dad fell when I had gone to the grocery store. He knew to press the button and they called me when I was just leaving the store. I went, got him, and then took him to the doctor to be checked out. Every time I've dealt with them they are all very professional and very helpful. The device is fine, it just got some age on it and the necklace part of it doesn't work. I mean the device, is just worn down.

I used to be a nurse before I retired. I took care of a lot of people that needed help because they were falling a lot but that never used the equipment they were supposed to be using. Now I'm 90 years old and can't walk too well. I've tried to make things easier but I finally decided to follow my own advice and get something like this. I live alone in a high rise building, but I know they'll be able to come and get me since emergency people come around this place a lot. I've had to use it already, but it happened while I was out. I went to the bank one day and left my walker out in the car. On my way in I tripped and hit my head. The people there tried to help me but I had the little box in my hand so I just pushed the button and Medical Guardian send help right away to pick me up and take me to the emergency room. Every once in a while I'll hit the button by accident. Sometimes it kind of scares me because a voice will come in and talk to me all of a sudden. I've been trying to pull it up higher so that it doesn't hit anything, but it's something that will happen if I'm not careful. I'm wondering if they have any bracelets I could use to avoid all of that. Other than that, every once in a while I'll forget to put it on.
I'm 93, almost 94 years old. After my husband died my children were after me so I would either move closer to them or get Medical Guardian. Since I didn't want to move, I got it. My son is the one that installed everything and pushed the button to test it. When he did, the ambulance responded right away and my next door neighbor came out. Usually I wear the device around my neck everyday when I get up from my bed, when I go to the front door to get the mail, or do that kind of thing. I feel secure having it in case I need it. I'm not really happy with the price though, it's a little high especially considering that I don't use it much.
The man that I talked to when I signed up was very true and honest when explaining all the options they had. I found him to be very professional. He took a lot of time to explain things well to me and even gave me examples of how I could use the button, so in the end I signed up. I used to have a different company before, but I like Medical Guardian's pendant better. It's a little bit longer and more comfortable. I like the portability of it and the fact that I can take it with me when I leave because it has the GPS feature. The only problem I have with it is that I don't like wearing something that big around my neck all the time. Thankfully I've never had to use it but one time I heard a beeping noise and I couldn't figure out where it was coming from. It turned out that it was the Medical Guardian people calling me. Apparently the button was pushed by accident when I was picking up a book from the floor. I'm quite happy with it, I feel like I made a good choice.
I saw an advertising for them and realized that I needed it. My husband works and sometimes has to work double shift. Because of that I'm alone at home a lot, so I keep the device on me all day long. The button has given me no problem whatsoever. It works the way it's supposed to. They are very alert and always take care of me. I've made a couple of mistakes and called by accident, but I let them know that I'm ok and they're very nice about it.
Thankfully I have not needed to use it. I've only called them to check on the thing and make sure it's working alright. Customer service has been fine whenever I do that.
I looked at several companies on the internet and got it for my mom. I don't live with her, but I know she wears it all the time. It is reassuring to know that she can get help if she needs it. I don't have that much experience with it though.
I got it because it worked throughout the continental United States. I wear it all the time, no matter where I am, just in case I need it. I haven't had to use it yet, except for testing that is. The response I've gotten has been great so far.
The device is very customer friendly and easy to manipulate. I also like the fact that it is portable, so I can take it with me wherever I traveled to. I've been satisfied with the service so far. When I press the button they are very efficient and quick to respond to me.
I picked it because it could travel with me anywhere. I've had it for several years now but I've only used it once. Thing was, there was a mix up and they ended up sending the people to the wrong address. We checked afterwards and it turned out they had the right address on file, but made a mistake when sending them out.

I was getting less steady on my feet, so I started looking around for a service like this. When I found it, I decided to go ahead and get it. I've had it for 2 or 3 years now but I've never had to use it. When I first got started and registered, I scheduled my payment to start on a certain date but there was a bit of a mix up. I just contacted them and someone got it straightened out for me.
We researched and they were the first name that popped up, so we went with it. If my husband is not home during the day, I carry the little button with me. It requires very little pressure to go off, so we have accidentally set it off a couple of times. I've used it twice to call for help on purpose. They responded quickly both times and things were fine. I also do a test once a month, usually in the middle of the night, and it's a bit creepy. The voice just comes on and sometimes I don't even know what they're saying because the main part is in another room. They need to recalculate when they do that sort of thing because it's just frightening. Otherwise it's fine.
Their system seemed to be the best at the time, that's why I picked it. I've fallen once since I started using it. They sent out somebody for me and things worked out well. The main reason I'm not very pleased with the service is the system itself. There's too much weight on the buttons and it's too much to be carrying around. Since carrying it in my pocket or belt is not really an option for me, it's very cumbersome. I also found out fairly recently that it's a little more expensive than some of the other medical alert systems out there, including the ones that have fall protection.
Margaret M Mcmullen
I looked at a lot of services and this one seemed to suit my needs best. With it I have the ability to go all over the house. I have never had to actually use it but it has gone off a couple of times on it's own and I've tested it too. Sometimes when that happens it takes them some time to respond.
We received some information about them and since it looked like a good deal we went ahead and got it. My son insists that I wear the device on my neck all the time and I try to do that since I have a tendency to fall a lot. I can be walking along or sitting down and I'll just fall over. It can happen at any given time. I just have a balance problem, I guess my brain is not hooked up right to my legs or something. I've had a number of falls both around my house and also while I'm out in different places. Just in the last month I've fallen 3 times. Last Friday I fell and broke my toe but I was able to get to the doctor alright. One time when I needed to use it they weren't really quick, but they got here. They got to me and took me to the hospital in case there was some damage because of the fall. Actually, my son was the one that called them with it, so I'm not sure how quickly they answered the call. Still, I know that with the device I can get help very quickly whenever I fall. All I have to do is punch the button and I'll get a response. The only imitation I've found is that I have to be in or near the house for it to work. It's also a little expensive. We're on a very low income so I can't afford a lot of the bills that come from the hospital.

Please reply directly to this message if you would like for a member of our Customer Care team to reach out with additional information about our mobile options. Have a great day!
I did a little research and looked at reviews before picking them for the person that uses it. She lives 75 miles away from me and, on a typical day, she wears the device around her neck. It seems to work when we do the occasional test run. The time she used it they informed me right away and updated me on things as the situation progressed. When I had an issue with the button they just exchanged it and got me another one.
My daughter was the one that went and picked this one, I really had no say in this. I have it on me all day, except for when it's charging. I wish I didn't have to put it to charge as often. They even call my daughter when the battery on the thing gets low...
We test the thing probably every evening and it works well. It's valuable in that it gives us peace of mind.
I called different places and felt that the gentleman from Medical Guardian that explained everything to me was very kind and courteous. When I called them back, they answered right away. After that I just had a really good gut feeling about it and chose it for my mother. She has tested it to make sure it's still working. They've answered right away whenever she tests it and have been very courteous every time. They're always very kind and understanding with her, even when she presses it by mistake.
The main reason we got them was that we didn't need to plug it to a telephone jack. I try to put it on everyday and, occasionally, I remember to call them and test the button. They're always very helpful.
We have not had to use it for an emergency. Actually, it has been years since we last pushed the button on purpose or by accident. Whenever we pushed it though we got an immediate response. I'm satisfied with the way the system works. The one thing I don't really like is that they said that emails would be sent out to the people in our emergency list if anything happened. That does us absolutely no good in an emergency situation. The situation was addressed though and even if its an accidental push they call the people and also send them emails.

Nancy, thank you for the kind review. Looking at your account, it appears we were able to address the issues you were having with emails going out. Please feel free to reply directly to this message if you have any other questions or concerns. Have a great day!
Everything has been fine for me so far. Most of the time I don't even realize that I'm wearing the thing. Sometimes I even forget to take it off when I go out since I have to carry the GPS thing instead. I haven't really had to use it but I have bumped it by accident. They've been very kind and informative when responding to those calls.
We researched and signed up with them because they were one of the cheaper services with the most useful things. I'm in my 80s so I use it all the time. My wife wears one too when we're around the house. That way, if either one of us is alone, we don't have to worry about getting help when we fall. For elderly people this is more of a necessity to be honest. If we didn't have it, we could end up on the floor for hours. That has happened to my mother who lives in a senior citizen complex. She fell in the middle of the night and had to wait until the next morning when someone came to check in on her. It really gives us a sense of security to have it. The device is very easy to use, useful, and dependable. They're very courteous whenever we call, even if it's by accident. Actually, most of the times we call it is by accident. They actually encourage us to call them once a month or so. We're just glad to have it.

I use it from the time I get up in the morning until I go to bed at night. I don't wear it if I go to town or church though. I've only had to use it one time and they were really nice. They are there when I need them and give me good service.
