Medical Guardian has been an authority in fall detection since they opened their doors in 2005. The in-home medical alert company offers medical alert systems for those who may need emergency services on the go as well as at home. Its medical alert packages have top-rated accessories, including its lockboxes and fall detection pendants that are compatible with the in-home systems and medical alert devices with GPS functionality. The company also has CSAA certified monitoring centers that are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and work to keep your loved ones safe.
Currently, Medical Guardian is considered one of the best medical alert companies in the medical alert device industry. Medical Guardian has low monthly monitoring rates, and the company does not charge any activation or equipment fees**. Read Medical Guardian reviews below to see what consumers have to say about the medical alert company.
**Free equipment offer does not include the Freedom Guardian system.
Medical Guardian members get alert equipment free of charge** with no setup fees or long-term contracts. The systems are backed by a lifetime warranty and include access to their 24/7 monitoring centers in the event of an emergency.
Depending on the package, Medical Guardian charges around $20–$40 for round-the-clock medical alert monitoring.
Medical Guardian offers lower monitoring fees with more extensive features and higher quality equipment compared to its competitors, making the company one of the most quality and affordable medical alert options in the industry. For many other medical alert providers, you'll pay a high upfront fee for equipment as well as a hefty monthly monitoring fee.
Medical Guardian has multiple medical alert packages to choose from. This gives customers the versatility to pick the medical alert plan that works best for them and their situation. Whether you just want coverage while you're at home, or if you want 24/7 coverage for on-the-go, Medical Guardian has you covered.
We break down each offered package below, or you can find a product overview with pictures here.
This plan starts at $0.97 per day.
The Classic Guardian is the lowest priced package Medical Guardian offers. The medical alert system is meant to keep you safe in and around your home with a 1,300 range. The system connects to your landline phone, and the medical alert device is a wearable waterproof button. The system includes a built-in speaker with two-way communication and power outage protection with a 32-hour backup battery.
This plan starts at $1.12 per day.
The Home Guardian is a wireless medical alert system that does not require a phone landline. The system works with a nationwide cellular network that gives you access to Medical Guardian's 24/7 monitoring center at any time. The system comes with a wearable medical alert button, which has a 600-foot range from the base station.
This plan starts at $1.29 per day.
The Mini Guardian is the smallest and sleekest medical alert device Medical Guardian offers. It comes in three colors, including black, silver, and white. Its capabilities are similar to Medical Guardian's other offered medical alert systems and is water-resistant, includes GPS tracking, and has a five-day battery life. This plan does require a one-time equipment fee, unlike the other basic medical alert packages.
Being 1/2 the width and weight of a regular medical alert system, this device is best for consumers who care about the convenience of size and would prefer a smaller device compared to a regular-sized system and don't mind a one-time equipment fee. The mini can clip onto bags, purses, belts, clothing, etc. for ease of use. You can also add fall detection to the mini if you'd like extra protection. The range on this device is unlimited.
This plan starts at $1.45 per day.
The Freedom Guardian is the only package that does not include free equipment. Because it is an advanced smartwatch, the Freedom Guardian requires a one-time equipment fee of $249.95. You can find more information regarding the smartwatch capabilities below under the section "The Freedom Guardian Medical Alert Watch."
This plan starts at $1.28 per day.
The Active Guardian is a portable medical alert system with built-in GPS and Wi-Fi technology. You can use this system at home or on-the-go since it functions on AT&T's cellular network. The system includes a wearable medical alert button, two-way communication, and location tracking with GPS.
This plan starts at $1.61 per day.
The Mobile Guardian is a portable mobile medical alert system that functions on built-in GPS technology. This enables customers to use their medical alert devices outside of their homes. The device includes a wearable button that has a 350-foot range from the device. The system has location tracking and two-way communication with an adjustable volume speaker.
This plan starts at $2.58 per day.
The Family Guardian is meant to combine medical alert systems with activity monitoring. With three, in-home safety sensors, The Family Guardian keeps track of activity in the home each day. This is great for family members who want to check on their loved ones. The Family Guardian also comes with a mobile app that you can enable to send you instant notifications to your email or smartphone when one of the safety sensors detects a difference in your loved one's routine or when the help button is triggered. The Family Guardian includes a 1,300-foot range from the base station.
In addition to a variety of package offerings, Medical Guardian also has accessories you can add to your plan for a small fee. Prices for each product vary, but here is a list of the offered accessories:
Every Medical Guardian alert system offers fall detection except for the Mobile Guardian system. Fall detection pendants are equipped with a sensor that is triggered any time a fall occurs, which then immediately sends a signal to Medical Guardian's monitoring center informing them of the emergency.
Members may cancel their Medical Guardian services at any point without charge. As opposed to companies such as Life Alert, you won't be locked into any long-term contracts with the expectation of buying out. This allows customers to try out Medical Guardian to see if it is the right medical alert provider for them.
Medical Guardian offers a lifetime warranty on all its products. If for some reason the equipment is damaged or malfunctions, Medical Guardian will replace it free of charge. Having free equipment and a lifetime warranty on all products ensures money for equipment never has to come out of the customer's pocket.
100% of Medical Guardian's central station monitoring center operators are certified and committed to CSAA's five points of excellence. This can provide peace of mind to medical alert owners knowing they can rely on Medical Guardian's services. Medical Guardian is also UL Listed, FM approved, and ESA Security certified.
Service monitoring is 24/7, and Medical Guardian's fall detection can detect a fall without any action from the individual, so you don't need to worry about calling for help, as your device will do so on its own. Every system also offers two-way communication so in the case of an emergency, you can talk directly to Medical Guardian's monitoring center that is available 24/7.
Medical Guardian's monitoring centers provide bilingual support for those who cannot speak English.
Medical Guardian's home-based medical alert system has a 1,300-foot range. This is a much larger range than most medical alert providers out there who only offer closer to 600–1,000 feet of coverage from the base station.
Medical Guardian's long range from the base station gives medical alert users more freedom in how far they can travel away from the base station while still having full coverage in case of a fall or another emergency.
Medical Guardian's medical alert devices have a 120-hour battery life, which is one of the longest in the industry. Many medical alert companies have medical alert systems that only have 24-hour battery lives and need to be charged every night, which can be a pain if you want to wear the medical alert device while you sleep. Having a long battery life ensures you have more coverage with less difficulty.
Medical Guardian has customer service representatives waiting to assist you with whatever you need, whether you have questions about ordering equipment or if you are experiencing difficulty operating the system. Members have the ability to order online or by calling in, and there is an online support team prepared to answer any questions.
Also important to note, when analyzing Medical Guardian's reviews, one of the most often referenced positives about the company was its responsiveness and exceptional customer service.
Customer Review: Anthony

The Freedom Guardian doesn't need a base unit to connect to, and you can wear it and trigger the medical alert anywhere you go.

The Freedom Guardian has various features to aid your health and safety as well as additional perks. Here are a few of the Freedom Guardian features to be aware of:

How is Medical Guardian’s medical alert service different than calling 9-1-1?
In emergencies, you don’t always have access to a phone. Having a medical alert system means you can request help at any time with the press of a button. Also, if you experience a fall, you likely won’t be able to reach a phone, so having a fall detection or regular medical alert pendant enables you to call for help.
Medical alert services also make sure emergency responders have the necessary information they need to best assist you—information you may be unable to provide in an emergency situation. Medical Guardian’s monitoring center will keep your information on file and give emergency responders the details they need, including your exact location, your preferred hospital, any medications you’re taking, medical conditions you may have, etc.
Also, if it’s a non-emergency situation, Medical Guardian’s monitoring center can contact your listed caregiver to assist you rather than emergency responders.

It meets my needs. I keep the device around my neck all the time and I feel comfortable with it. Everything is in in working order and it fulfills my medical needs. I'm satisfied with them.

I picked them based on the ads that they had. I only use it to test it once in a while. I like that I can take it with me to different locations but it is kind of expensive. Still, it's nice to have it as a back up if I ever need it.

Most days there's no one around in the house with me. So, on a typical day, I put it on in the morning and keep it on me until I go to bed. I use the bracelet, because I just don't like wearing pendants or necklaces all the time. It's not comfortable for me. I haven't had to use it yet but I've tested it in various areas of the house and it works well everywhere. They always come through and whenever I call them for that, or if I have any questions, they are very kind and courteous. It's well worth whatever it costs. I trust them and I know it will work in case of a real emergency.

I was interested in getting something like it after I had a bad fall and couldn't reach anyone. I saw them advertised on some magazine last year so I decided to give them a call and get it. I haven't had to use it but customer service has called me to check in on me and see if I needed anything.

A niece that works with doctors recommended this one to me. They have given me good service so far. I call in once a month to check it. They answer within 4 or 5 minutes, which is a good policy. I just tell them it's a test and not an emergency and everything is fine. They are always very kind, polite, and caring. Right now it's there as a sort of a back up support in case I need it. I feel like it's a good unit and a good thing to have.

I'm off and alone in my house. Since I'm 88 years old I could fall anytime, so I needed to have something to call for help if that happened. That's why I looked for a service like theirs. They were really the first ones that I heard about and the first ones that I applied to. They were just very kind and understanding when I talked to them and that was enough for me. I've never had to use it except for when I test the system, but I wear the button all the time, day and night. It's very comfortable.

My daughter was the one that decided to get it. She is a nurse and did some research before recommending this one to me. I never take it off and I've had to use it a couple of times already. They answer immediately and send help out right away. They also call and follow up with my children to let them know what's going on. They're just always on top of things and respond when I need them. I'm very pleased with them, they're very reliable.

This is now my second year with them and I've been pleased with it. I have not had to use it for an emergency yet, but I've created a lot of false alarms. They have been very responsive to those and usually all I have to do is tell them that I don't have an emergency or a need for it. It all seems to work well.

I have not had to use it yet and I hope I don't have to. It is just there for me if I need it. I haven't had any problems with them and their price isn't too high.

I'm 85 and live about 2 and a half hours away from my son's house. Although I'm in pretty good shape, you never know what could happen. I live in the woods so there's not that many people around that could help me if I need it, especially during the winter time. Because of that my son and I checked out a lot of different services and we both decided that they were the best ones out there. The device itself is good, though I don't like the string that it hangs from. It's kind of corny looking. I had a bit of a funny situation with the button once. I was over at my son's house taking care of their dogs while they were out on a trip. I had left my button at home on my dining table, but I was wearing the wristband. All of a sudden the phone rang in his house, so I answered. It was the Medical Guardian guys saying that they had gotten an alarm. They thought I was in trouble and dispatched people to my house. I told them to call it off because I was alright and they took care of that right away and did the right thing for me. Apparently what happened was that the carpenter that was doing some work around my house accidentally pushed the button. It was a funny situation, but it made me feel confident about the service. I feel secure knowing that if I have a problem they'll do what they need to do and I'll be alright.

I got it because they offered what I was looking for. I use the pendant, but I haven't tried it yet. It has gone off twice already by accident though. One of those false alarms happened in the middle of the night. I was unaware that I had pushed the button and they just showed up. I thought it was great that they came out even if it had been a false alarm on our part.

I did a lot of research beforehand and since they were highly rated I picked them. Less than a month ago I had to use it when I fell out in the yard. They got me to the hospital, but everything worked very well. They met my needs right away. The only thing is that the battery on the device doesn't last very long. I have to put in a new battery way too often. I also wish I could take it with me on vacations or when I travel.

It has been a few years since I got it and I'm quite satisfied with it. The device is easy to carry on my belt and have it on me all the time. I haven't used it for an emergency situation yet, but I've tested it and it has gone off accidentally when I was carrying it in my pocket. Every time it has worked the way it's supposed to. It gives me a lot of security. I've seen they have a couple of new things that I want to order. One of them is the button that can detect the fall on its own and sent out an alert, even if you can't push the button yourself. They also have the thing that you can put on your door with an extra key. With that emergency services can come in to help me without breaking in.

One of my sons got this for me. I had to use it once when I fell. I was holding my pitbull's collar and at one point I lost my balance and fell on the floor. I broke my pelvic bone and couldn't get up, so I called them. Things went fine.

I had to use them once while I was in the shower. I got dizzy and fell in there, so I called. When the woman came on the line I kept telling her that I was laying on the bathroom floor, but she couldn't hear me. Later on they transferred me to another man that could hear me and that called my fianc' to get me up, but I had to wait an hour on the floor for them to do that.

My son picked this one out for me because he thought it was the best one. It's handy in case I need it. I've only used it one time and they came out and got me to the hospital in a manner of minutes. I was quite content with that. They were really good and took care of me.

Even though my health is not that great, I know I can relay on it and I'll be safe. The necklace is always on me. One time my little dog jumped on me and pressed the button accidentally. Their customer service was just brilliant. They called me and made sure that I was alright. They didn't want to hang up until they were really sure that I was ok. Everyone is really kind, brilliant, and sweet. I feel comfortable with it.

I saw some ads and decided to go with them. I'm 86 years old and have MS, so I'm kind of crippled. I fell down once so I pressed my mechanism to get help. It took several seconds for them to respond, but when they finally came on they did what they needed to do. Things were ok in the end, though it felt like I was waiting for several minutes before they responded.

I have to take care of my mother who is 93 years old. I'm in my seventies so it's a really good thing to have around. She usually has it around her neck and if we ever need it, all we have to do is grab the button and push it to get help. We've had to use it 3 times already. On one occasion my mother fell out of bed and hit her head so bad that it split and she started bleeding. They responded right away and asked us if we needed help. Someone got here quickly and helped us. I'm glad we have it here, it gives us security.

The features and price convinced me of getting it. One time I was out of town when my mom called them. She was having problems breathing so she hit the button and they were there for her in no time. They responded quickly, calmed her down, and things worked out well. Everything worked as advertised and, after that, my mother felt much better about having it with her. It has been worth every penny. It's a very cost effective and helpful system.

My daughter picked it up because of the cost I think. One time I fell down and had to drag myself to the base unit to press the button because mine didn't work. It took them a while to get to the phone, the machine kept saying call in progress, but when I finally got them on the line they sent someone out for me. I called them afterwards to see why the button hadn't worked and they sent out a new one right away. The price is very high, especially considering that calling 911 would've been just as fast.

I didn't decide to get it, my daughter did. She has been on the medical field for quite a while and she was the one that found them and decided to go with them. I'm 84 years old and live alone. Last summer I was in the hospital when a nurse recommended some kind of medical alert service for me because I have osteoporosis and have broken a lot of bones. Since my grandson works for Medical Guardian, we decided to go with it. So far my experiences with them have been good. I have the device on me all the time, day and night. Earlier this year, towards the end of January, I apparently hit the button inadvertently. They called me back very promptly and followed through with me. I assured them that no one had fallen and that was it. They were very prompt and reassuring. Having it feels like there's someone else with me all the time, I feel much safer that way.

I had a different system that just wasn't as good as Medical Guardian has been. I used it once and they were here promptly and took me to the emergency room. Though...I'll have to leave the service at the end of the year because I'm moving to a different facility. They have their own medical alert system there.

My daughter looked at all the different services and picked this one for me. I don't want to fall but I can't help it if that happens because of my bones, so I have it in case I need it. I have both a bracelet and a thing for my neck and I can wear either one. Once I accidentally pushed the bracelet one and they called me on the machine to see if I needed any help. That was the only time I used it but I'm happy that they answered immediately.

Billing Issues; RECEIPT of paper bill does NOT allow enough time for payment to be sent back & rec'd by due date!!!!!!!!! Paper statement preferred by & to Lacey's; payment sent back same day bill rec'd & then not getting posted as paid by due date. This has been an ongoing problem since sign up last year. Parents very upset when notice rec'd of payment overdue when they comply as soon as possible for them . They WILL NOT do transactions electronically and 10+ business days should be sufficient time from check put in mail to payment posted on account. Rep named Reggie has assured repeatedly that this will not be a continuing problem, but it has been!

Debbie, thank you for reaching out. Rest assured that when your parents receive their quarterly invoice, they are not overdue. The invoice generates automatically in their system on their due date, but there is a period of 20 days after that for them to pay their bill. They will incur no late fees and are not considered late with their payment at this point. If you have any other questions about this billing issue, feel free to reply directly to this message. Have a great weekend!
