Every Medical Guardian medical alert system is identical in that they have a base station, a wearable emergency button, and provide two-way communication. Each system also has a backup battery that has a battery life of at least 24 hours. However, systems like the Mobile Guardian device operate on a cellular network that allows you to take the alert button and miniature base station anywhere.
Systems like the basic Classic Guardian operate on a landline connection and have an alert button that can be worn as a wristband or pendant. When the emergency button is activated, you're immediately put in contact with a representative at Medical Guardian's certified monitoring center. Here's a breakdown of each offered system:
This plan starts at $0.97 per day.
The Classic Guardian is the lowest priced package Medical Guardian offers. The medical alert system is meant to keep you safe in and around your home with a 1,300 range. The system connects to your landline phone and the medical alert device is a wearable waterproof button. The system includes a built-in speaker with two-way communication and power outage protection with a 32-hour backup battery.
This plan starts at $1.12 per day.
The Home Guardian is a wireless medical alert system that does not require a phone landline. The system works with a nationwide cellular network that gives you access to Medical Guardian's 24/7 monitoring center at any time. The system comes with a wearable medical alert button, which has a 600-foot range from the base station.
This plan starts at $2.58 per day.
The Family Guardian is meant to combine medical alert systems with activity monitoring. With three, in-home safety sensors, The Family Guardian keeps track of activity in the home each day. This is great for family members who want to check on their loved ones. The Family Guardian also comes with a mobile app that you can enable to send you instant notifications to your email or smartphone when one of the safety sensors detects a difference in your loved one's routine or when the help button is triggered. The Family Guardian includes a 1,300-foot range from the base station.
This plan starts at $1.61 per day.
The Mobile Guardian is a portable mobile medical alert system that functions on built-in GPS technology. This enables customers to use their medical alert devices outside of their home. The device includes a wearable button that has a 350-foot range from the device. The system has location tracking and two-way communication with an adjustable volume speaker.
This plan starts at $1.28 per day.
The Active Guardian is a portable medical alert system with built-in GPS and Wi-Fi technology. You can use this system at home or on-the-go since it functions on AT&T's cellular network. The system includes a wearable medical alert button, two-way communication, and location tracking with GPS.
This plan starts at $1.45 per day.
The Freedom Guardian is the only package that does not include free equipment. Because it is an advanced smartwatch, the Freedom Guardian requires a one-time equipment fee of $99. You can find more information regarding the smartwatch capabilities below under the section "The Freedom Guardian Medical Alert Watch."
In addition to a variety of package offerings, Medical Guardian also has accessories you can add to your plan for a small fee. Prices for each product vary, but here is a list of the offered accessories:
Every Medical Guardian alert system offers fall detection except for the Mobile Guardian system. Fall detection pendants are equipped with a sensor that is triggered any time a fall occurs, which then immediately sends a signal to Medical Guardian's monitoring center informing them of the emergency.
Members may cancel their Medical Guardian services at any point without charge. As opposed to companies such as Life Alert, you won't be locked into any long-term contracts with the expectation of buying out. This allows customers to try out Medical Guardian to see if it is the right medical alert provider for them.
Medical Guardian offers a lifetime warranty on all its products. If for some reason the equipment is damaged or malfunctions, Medical Guardian will replace it free of charge. Having free equipment and a lifetime warranty on all products ensures money for equipment never has to come out of the customer's pocket.
100% of Medical Guardian's central station monitoring center operators are certified and committed to CSAA's five points of excellence. This can provide peace of mind to medical alert owners knowing they can rely on Medical Guardian's services. Medical Guardian is also UL Listed, FM approved, and ESA Security certified.
Service monitoring is 24/7, and Medical Guardian's fall detection can detect a fall without any action from the individual, so you don't need to worry about calling for help, as your device will do so on its own. Every system also offers two-way communication so in the case of an emergency, you can talk directly to Medical Guardian's monitoring center that is available 24/7.
Medical Guardian's home-based medical alert system has a 1,300-foot range. This is a much larger range than most medical alert providers out there who only offer closer to 600–1,000 feet of coverage from the base station. Medical Guardian's long range gives medical alert users more freedom in how far they can travel away from the base station while still having full coverage in case of a fall or another emergency.
Medical Guardian's medical alert devices have a 120-hour battery life, which is one of the longest in the industry. Many medical alert companies have medical alert systems that only have 24-hour battery lives and need to be charged every night, which can be a pain if you want to wear the medical alert device while you sleep. Having a longer battery life ensures you have more coverage with less difficutly.
Medical Guardian has customer service representatives waiting to assist you whether you have questions about ordering equipment or if you are experiencing difficulty operating the system. Members have the ability to order online or by calling in, and there is an online support team prepared to answer any questions.
Medical Guardian has a new high-tech medical alert device that is a smartwatch for seniors called The Freedom Guardian. This new medical alert watch is designed to be sleek and convenient to wear every day. The Freedom Guardian doesn't need a base unit to connect to, and you can wear it with you anywhere you go.
Caregivers or family members can download the Companion mobile app to communicate with Freedom Guardian wearers at any time as well as track their current location.
The Freedom Guardian has various features to aid your health and safety as well as additional perks. Here are a few of the Freedom Guardian features to be aware of:
**Free equipment offer does not include the Freedom Guardian system.
While Medical Guardian does offer some of the best equipment and services in the industry, there are still some aspects of their service that require additional attention prior to purchasing. Medical Guardian does not offer an emergency device combo package at this time. This means that consumers will not be able to group multiple items together to receive a discounted rate.

How is Medical Guardian’s medical alert service different than calling 9-1-1?
In emergencies, you don’t always have access to a phone. Having a medical alert system means you can request help at any time with the press of a button. Medical alert services also make sure emergency responders have the necessary information they need to best assist you—information you may be unable to provide in an emergency situation. Medical Guardian’s monitoring center will keep your information on file and give emergency responders the details they need, including your exact location, your preferred hospital, any medications you’re taking, medical conditions you may have, etc.
Also, if it’s a non-emergency situation, Medical Guardian’s monitoring center can contact your listed caregiver to assist you rather than emergency responders.
I live way out in the country and I needed something that could ensure the EMS could find me. Since it gave me freedom to get out of the house with the range it has and it was the best I could find, I went with them. I can go out and walk in the yard, be in the shop, in my barn, or in the tractor with it. They mailed me everything within a couple of days. Since it took me a bit to call them, they called me instead and we activated the device in a very short time. Normally I spend most of the morning out, so I have the little necklace with me and spend some time in the yard. I can just mow the grass or rake the leaves before I leave the house. When I do that I take the other unit and put it in my belt. It does what it needs to do. It will notify the EMS automatically and I know it'll do that because we tested the thing. The first time it rang about 5 times and then I got an answer. I told the folks there that it was just a test. They still asked me if I was ok to make sure it wasn't an emergency. I was just very pleased with the product and how it performed then. The cost is right as well. It's competitively priced and it checked off all the things that I wanted. It gives me the security that I need to go outside the house knowing that I can just push the button to get help.
I had a hip replacement recently and someone gave me their telephone. So I called in to get it. They worked with me and waited until I could get the money to get the device. That was great. I wear it everyday, I just put it on and use it when I get in the tub or when I'm going around. They are genuinely interested in what happens with us and everything.
My daughter did quite an extensive research on all these things and this one came up as number one. I haven't had to use it yet or called them for anything, but I do like the device. It's small.
I kind of researched it on the internet before getting it for my mom. We've only had it for a couple of months. She hasn't had to use it yet, so far we've only tested it. Customer support has done fine so far. I think the device is very good, I just wish that you could hear the sound from further away. There are areas of the house where I can't hear it. Other than that, it's good.
I was widowed last year after 54 years of marriage. I had never lived alone before since I went from my childhood home, to college, and then married. Since I also had a history of very bad falls the idea of living alone was really intimidating. I was afraid I would fall over and not be able to get back up. I know that if I wear this device around my neck or on my wrist I'm no more than a few second away from getting help. That is huge for me in this process of learning how to live on my own. It gives me all kinds of confidence because I can go do work in the yard, do things around the house, and just move around without the fear of falling or being injured and not being able to get back up for hours. I have not had to use it yet, but I have tested it. Everybody that I've dealt with has been very supportive and knowledgeable. Their response time is less than 5 seconds, it's amazing. So far I've had no problems with them. Of course, it'd be nice if it was cheaper, but it's just a little over a dollar a day so it's pretty reasonable.
I saw the advertisement somewhere and got it for my wife. She has passed since then. Everything worked perfectly while we had it, I'm pleased. I'm just waiting on my refund but that's it.
My daughter got it for me because she knew I needed to have a way to alert people if I fell. I haven't had to use it yet, and I'm thankful for that, but I do wear it around my neck in case I do. I actually used to have a different one but I canceled it after I realized I was confined to my home and yard. It wasn't much help that way. With this one I can do that.
I wanted to get something that I could wear around my wrist, plus my son in law did a bunch of research and found this one that has GPS in it. On a typical day I wear it all day while I'm home. I can take out the bigger piece with me when I go away from home and if I push the button it'll know where I am. Last week I passed out but pushed the button. Apparently they tried to call me but I couldn't respond so they called my son who is just 3 doors away from me. He got here before the emergency people did. They also contacted my daughter. They were very prompt. It is worth the money, had I not had it when I fell I would still be on the floor.
They just appeared here in Boone North Carolina and we found them then. We tried to get them but because of where I live I can't get a computer or get it to work. I sent the medical alert back since we just don't get signal here.
I went with them because they have all the features that I need for my lifestyle. I use it all the time, whether I'm staying home or going out on errands. They are always able to answer my questions and help me through every need I have. The only thing I'd like them to change is the design of the device to make it more attractive for women. In general I'm just happy with them. I feel safe and secure knowing that I can go anywhere and I'll be safe.
My children and son in law made this decision for me. I haven't had to use it yet, but it's good.
I had a stroke 2 years ago and I thought it would be best to get something like that since I'm home 3-4 days a week I needed something to make me feel better and safer so I got it. I have not had to use it yet, all I've done is test it, though it sounds like it would be very good if I have to use it.
I haven't had too use it yet, I just activated it last week. So far customer service has followed up with me and everything has been good. They explained everything to me and walked me through the process. It was all very smooth. The device itself is easy to use and I like that it's not aggressive. I like it.
My nephew had a health issue that we needed this device for. We haven't had to use it yet, nothing serious has happened. Still, every time he pushes the button they give us a call and we just tell them things are okay. It's a great service.
I went with them since they had the best reviews online. The device seems to be a good piece of equipment, though I haven't had to use it yet in a real world situation. My wife does wear it whenever I have to leave the house. Whenever we've tested it, the operator comes online in a very short amount of time. The customer service reps were very engaging, friendly, and helpful.
I saw it somewhere and after talking to a person of about half an hour it seemed to be what my sister and I needed. We got 2 separate plans. So far we have not had to use it, but it's all easy to set up. They give you excellent instructions, like the one about carrying your GPS unit when you're outside. We can use that one all over the United States.
The person that I spoke to shared with me that they get to see the owner of the company going out and about in the office where they work. That gave me the feeling that this was like a family business and that they were very much involved with everything which was enormously important to me. I have no particular medical needs at the moment, but I decided that since I'm nearly 84 it would be perfectly rational for me to get it for my children's sake, so that they're at ease. I decided the device should be with me all the time, so I wear it when I exercise, when I go into the shower, etc. I have the charging unit beside my bed so that I can always reach it. I had to send it back because they sent me the wrong unit in the first place. They apologized of course and sent me the one I wanted which was more expensive. They even went and charged me for the first month as if I had kept the cheaper unit because of that. They were extremely apologetic and truly friendly, I feel like they're my best neighbors. I can buzz them, which I have done as practice, and I can speak with somebody. I'm very happy about it since they're available and they can contact my daughter who lives very close by.
My daughter insisted on me getting it. I haven't had to use it yet, though they respond very fast.
I went with them since it had satellite access. That was great because there's a lot of cement in my house and the cell towers' signal don't go through. I haven't had to use it yet, but customer service has responded well. The only thing is that the device doesn't have a direct microphone access to the call center.
My son is the one that got it for me. I haven't had to use it yet, which is good. I mean, I haven't fallen or anything. The thing is working fine and all though. The only thing is that since my son ordered it for me, I couldn't pick the one that works outside of my house. I mean, I can go out to the yard with it, but I can't go shopping or anything like that.
When I was checking around it was the only one that could handle GPS. With t hat I could go anywhere anytime and still be called. There was a different that was local but if you wanted to get the GPS it would cost a lot more, so I went with Medical Guardian. I've never used it, but I wear it 24 hours a day, it makes me feel more comfortable to have it there. I never had any trouble. We turned it on real quick and easy and did the test. I figured that at the end of the next month I'll push the button and try it out again, but it seems to work just fine and I feel comfortable with that. As far as I know everything is great. As I said, I feel comfortable since I'm home alone and I occasionally go walking on the golf course with my dogs. I feel like it's a good way to make quick calls for help since it's harder to get up when you get more mature.
I got it for my mother in law and she uses it all the time. The first day we tested it everything went very smoothly. The device itself seems to work fine and having the option to choose between the wrist and necklace pieces is good. That's one of the reasons I got it.
I got it after seeing an advertisement for it on TV, so I got it for my aunt and set it up for her. Actually, the young man that helped me set it up was very helpful and informative. We've only had it for about a month but it has been working wonderfully. The one time when my aunt had to use it it worked well. She got the help she needed immediately after pushing the button. She has the wrist band, the one in the bathroom, and the big machine. With all of those all she has to do is push the button, it's very easy.
My wife figured it all out and she got it since it would do what we needed it to do. As of yet I haven't needed to use it, but it's available for me in case I do. It does what it's supposed to do.
My stepdaughter is the one that got it for me. They answer very quickly.
The device is for my mother. She hasn't had to use it yet, but customer service is very courteous. They do monthly checks to make sure that everything is working well. Whenever we call for any reason everyone is very courteous and they are always calling my mother to make sure she's fine. The only minus is that there's a bit of transferring between departments when you call them. The device itself is adorable and very easy to wear. When the base unit was malfunctioning they were able to tell and called us immediately. When we had to replace the unit they were also very efficient about that. We know that they're looking out for us.
They were the right price and had the coverage that we needed. Other than when I ordered it, I haven't really talked to customer support. They have been helpful though. We haven't had to use it yet, my brother in law just wears it so it's there in case he needs it. Still, we think it's fabulous. We feel so much more at ease when my brother in law stays at home while we work. That's worth a million dollars.
We actually had to change the order before we could set up the device because we moved to a different house. They were super easy to deal with. I'm really happy with them. Customer service was great at showing us how to use it. They showed my mother how to use it so she can get familiar with it and understand it. The device itself is simple to use, plus it's large enough that it's hard to miss. The light and speakers are also bright and loud so that's good. My mother fell in the bathroom once so I had to push it then, so it was ok. They have gone above and beyond in everything.
I looked up reviews and they were the top one on all the lists I saw. I thought that if other people were doing well with it, I should also be able to. I have had no contact with them other than when we set it all up. They were fine on that occasions. I wear it all the time, though I haven't had to use it as an alert. It still gives me security since I'm ninety years old. I know that if I need it when walking from one place to another I will be fine.
I haven't had to use it yet, and I hope I don't, but I've been pretty safe. I know that as soon as I hit the button someone will show up. I had a different device around the neck but I didn't like it, so I just use the one that's like a watch when I'm somewhere. It's a lot safer to have it when my son is out of town and I'm here by myself.
I bought it for my mother since she had just recently had a fall and didn't have anything to help her at the time. She couldn't call anybody and if it hadn't been for a family member that was in the house, she would've been in the floor for several hours. She wears the device every day, though she hasn't had a time to use it yet. We haven't had any equipment issues or anything and as far as I know from the test, it's working fine. Customer service has been very helpful and told me exactly what to expect. They walked me through the set up process and answered all my questions. Everybody has been very helpful and were on it. Thus far everything has been fine.
The first thing that convinced me of going with them was the price. I also liked the fact that they have the GPS system. I have not used it yet since I haven't had an episode since I got it and I haven't had to call customer service much, but I've tested it. I was out testing the device while I was away from home since I had never done that. It took them about 20 minutes to respond. They said that they were having problems with the towers in Texas, so I'm concerned about that. Apparently they only use AT&T towers and that causes some issues. Now I'm trying to decide if I should keep the equipment or send it back.
The man that issued it made the decision for me. I did not have time to agree or anything. I have not had to use it yet, though things went well when we ordered it. The device is a little bit large, I would've been more comfortable if it had been a bit smaller.
I bought it for my mother. She has not had to use it yet, thank god, but she wears the piece around her neck every day. She feels a lot safer knowing that she has the button there. The thing is easy to use and set up. Customer service is readily available. Both of us appreciate that we can just push the button and that it works. We've tested it many times and we've gotten a live person every time. To know that there's a human being on the other side of the phone is reassuring.
It was the first thing that came up when I was looking for a system for my mom. There's really nothing special about our days. We used to have the device that detects falls but we kept getting false alarms on it since it was so sensitive. We switched over to the one where she has to push the button if she falls. She hasn't had to use it yet but she thinks that it will be alright. Her fingers are numb now but she thinks she'll be able to push the button if she has to. Everybody has been really nice since we got started. They've been really good about he false alarms and everything. We are happy with it.
I got it because it had the away from home service, though I haven't had to use it yet.
I was hospitalized for a while and my daughter and son decided together to get this one for me. I just got it a couple of weeks ago, so I haven't had to use it yet. Customer service had a long talk with me to explain everything. They were very down to earth about everything and very gentle. They're there all the time and always check on me to make sure I'm ok. I wear the band on my wrist every day. I don't even go outside without it. I just feel safe and that's a good feeling.
I got it because it had good reviews and the pricing was good. We've only had it for a month and haven't had to use it yet. We've hit the button accidentally and they responded us immediately. They were also really nice about us pushing it by mistake. They are just very nice and helpful with anything. The device itself is easy to install and hook up, we haven't had any problems.
Medical Guardian has been such a good deal...very reliable and efficient, plus it gives a person a sense of confidence just having it as a resource.
Thus far I am pleased with my experience with Medical Guardian. I am fortunate in that I have not had to use the device to summon assistance.
Excellent service. I have purchased three medic alert products and have been pleased with all three. I ordered the cuff bracelet in gold as I have rheumatoid arthritis and needed something I could slip on and off. Have had many compliments.it is beautifully made. I just ordered the new gold filagree necklace for when I did't want to wear a bracelet and am looking forward to receiving it. The company is so easy to work with and answers any questions promptly . The company is a pleasure to work with and their products are beautifully made
Absolutely horrible 1st time experience ! The 1st gentleman I spoke with upon calling to ask/find which product is best suited for my mother and her habits around her very large home and gardens... After a lengthy conversation with questions and answers from both myself and representative. He recommended the complete wrong unit for my mother, did I know at the time it was the wrong unit, "NO" I did not, I solely went on his recommendations as I did not know anything about units available or difference between 1 or other I simply stated what I needed/expected from a unit for my mother and monthly payment was no issue at all, well upon receiving the 1st unit I was not thrilled as it was not everything I wanted for my elderly parent and upon calling Medical Guardian I had no idea this unit would not even work with what my mother does around the home and outside distance to her gardens until person on other end of the phone explained it does nothing what I was asking of him to explain and together after much explanation on his part I did order the correct and 1st and only monitor system I should of had from the beginning. He was very patient and helpful with my frustration and asked if I had explained the 1st time I called what my needs for my mother were..my reply was yes of course as I am to you......He himself couldn't understand why the 1st phone representative I spoke with didn't recommend the unit I ended up asking for...Yes I was quite upset during my conversation with 2nd rep that my mother was not properly monitored/covered with the 1st unit as her 1st garden is over 450 feet away from her home. After it was all settled and I was assured I would be getting the correct unit I didn't even get a call or email with any type of apology from Medical Guardian.....what if ? my mother had something happen that far away from the home by 1 of her gardens ? who would be sorry then for not having the correct monitor....Shame on your rep that handled my original call ! He was not listening to any of my wants and needs for a active senior did he care to listen ? When myself or any customer calls in for a monitoring system we have no idea what we need or want all we can do is explain our needs and it falls on reps ears on what he/she recomends
Worst company I ever dealt with. I needed the equipment right away. My 87 yr old father had a major heart attack and was going to be alone. I was told I would get product within 1- 2 days. When it didn't arrive. I called and was told it would be over a week to 10 days. I had already prepaid and was very upset. I cancelled your stuff and called first Alert, they overnighted everything, it was a better set up and less money. I would not ever do business with you, nor ever refer you to anyone!! Very poorly trained company that u are! I would give u 0 stars if I could!
Reliable, easy, reasonable cost. Peace of mind. Customer service personable, but professional and quick. Device came quickly.
When we needed your service, everything went smoothly and had a good outcome.
I got it recently, since I was planning on traveling and I had had a heart attack and a stent placed on my heart a little bit ago. I wanted to make sure I had protection on the road. When the unit came in, the charger wouldn't work. The lady I spoke to said that I could try and use the USB port to charge it instead, but that did not work either. Luckily, nothing happened during that week and everything was ok, but that first week was the time when I needed it most. When I returned home they sent out a new charger and cable, which works just fine now, but receiving a defective piece in the first place was not great. It could be a life or death situation to not have something working when it should. I also don't like that you have to charge it up every single night. It only runs for 36 hours, so you can't just charge it for 2 days. You'd think that they would design it better, and I think it's a really limiting factor. On top of that, it costs about $500 a year, which is quite expensive... update: There seems to be a disconnect between the time you speak with someone and what happens in the warehouse because they shipped me two packages that were identical and both were wrong and 100% unusable with my Guardian unit. After going thru this procedure several times they finally sent me something of value but it still was not what I expected. I have stopped calling them. I cannot tell anyone the quality of the product because I have thankfully not had another heart attack. At this point it is just wait and see what happens.
Had a problem with the speaker box. It wasn't working and a replacement was sent out quickly
they have given rapid response on two fall indicators
There was a delay or miscommunication on delivery. All else very good.
Knowledgeable and great customer service.
