Based upon my experience with Choice, my rating is fair. On each of the three occasions that I have had a need for service, I was met with obstacles and issues either with the coverage or the quality of the service company they chose to evaluate and make the repair. The issues were eventually resolved but the process to do so was quite irritating.

I am very disappointed in the service I’m receiving in regards to the sewer pipe problem. You claim your company is not responsible for drains that can’t be opened by a cable due to tree roots, collapsed, broken, or damaged outside of the home. What the hell would ever be the problem? This is ridiculous. It’s not like we’re sitting here purposely throwing crap in the sewer! We just want to do laundry!! The technician you sent out did NOT have the proper equipment, let alone up to date equipment, AND, no one knows where this pipe leads to. For all we know, it’s clogged right under the basement. I paid damn good money to have coverage, and all this company does is screw me around. You deny everything and make it impossible to get a certified, decent plumbing company to come in and check things out! No one wants to work with you guys!! I’d like a refund on my account. I’m sure I can do better I will not be stuck with a useless company just taking my money. There’s no reason on God’s green earth that you cannot send out someone to camera this pipe, and get us back to doing what needs to be done!!! I’d never, ever recommend this company. Please advise how I will get my prorated refund. Terri Sarr

Every claim becomes a long drawn out big deal Your company like a typical lowlife insurance company has no problem collecting premiums, yet always disputes the claim payment After two experiences with claims they have ended in an appeals process. Becomes months at best to have a repair or replacement. Do not know what government officials and media mob big tech like crooked Google search your company paid to receive such a high rating? It is not accurate. I will not remain a customer, nor will I recommend CHW to others. I prepaid 3 years in advance as a preferred customer. After 9 months I will be requesting a prorated return of my funds and will seek the assistance of my previous home warranty company.

I waited more than a month to get my ceiling fans repaired , ended up having to find my own technician to do the repairs,and was questioned about labor costs , I’m still waiting on reimbursement. I went without plumbing for 4 days because the technician your company chose didn’t show for scheduled appointment. Asked to PLEASE be able to get reimbursement option to take care of it myself and was refused ! Finally got the ok on a SUNDAY to choose the reimbursement option . NOT HAPPY AT ALL WITH SERVICE PROVIDED BY THIS WARRANTY COMPANY 😡

When I was on the phone with a rep, Phil M, asking questions about the agreement before I signed up, he said there were absolutely no limits. I specifically asked about a could add on services and he continued to say there was no limits. Well, that was wonderful. Signed up. And when I got an email, there are limits of 3000 per year plus only a $500 limit on the add on I asked about. He lied. I’m unable to get ahold of anyone to cancel my policy. I’m not even buying the house now and still can’t get ahold of anyone. I’m incredibly upset about the lies. I will no longer trust this company.

I put in a claim yesterday and was told I would be contacted to schedule the repair appointment. It has been almost 48 hours and I have not been contacted so went online to check the status and saw that an appointment has been scheduled for Thursday morning with a company I am not familiar with. No one called or emailed me about scheduling, a time and date were just set with anyone taking my schedule into consideration. This is extremely discourteous. Since I am now aware of the time and date, I will rearrange my schedule to accommodate but I am very unhappy with this approach. Poor communication!

If I could give them zero stars I would. I have been a customer of theirs for 15 months now, this was my first claim, and here's how it went: I submitted a claim for a problem with my pool pump on 11/10/21 and Choice Warranty sent back a name of a local pool company and asked me to schedule them to come out. So I scheduled the appointment, the pool company comes out, makes the repair and sends me an invoice. I called in yesterday to find out what to do next and they tell me that I cannot submit the invoice. They said they were only providing me with a contact of a local company but didn't mean for me to ask them to do the work. I ask to be escalated to management because this was a service I was paying for and their manager was condescending, snippy and unapologetic so I had them cancel my account. THE worst customer service for one, but if they aren't even going to honor the warranty I was paying for??? RUN! Find a legit company, not these guys

In June, my dishwasher was not working correctly. After a tech visited, it was determined that my dishwasher needed to be replaced. The choice offered less than $300 for the replacement and only offered it in the form of Lowes gift card. I requested a formal review and an increase in the settlement provided. After discussing with a case manager by the name of Yvette, she said if I sent what features it had a pic of the steel interior, they would readjust and increase the value. I sent in the information to the case manager and never heard back from them. I discounted service with Choice in July and will not use them in the future.

I needed a kitchen faucet choice warranty only gives $70 for a kitchen faucet I can't even find one to replace mine Less than $200. The contractors that they have are not very good either. It's very disappointing I have 30 claims in and not one has been fixed I've been without a refrigerator for before 2 months now I've got 3 little ones. I have a plumbing issue can't be fixed they're not paying their contractors so the contractors so the contractors take their time and we we as customers get put on the back burner. The portal is difficult for the contractors as well but technicians makes it a lot difficult and very micromanaging.. That happens the customers get the crappy end of the deal.

One of the companies picked to respond to service has less than expected proficiencies. having left a inspection wire across two circuits in my heater which caused the thermostat to cause the fan to run continuously. This was determined with another request for service to stop the fan and this cost an additional service fee.

Choice Home Warranty hires private contractors to do their home repairs. Maybe that's the standard for industry. But no big company names are sent to do any repairs or decide on a replacement when you have a contract with Choice Home. And its so disappointing when you need a plumber to unstop a sink, you call at 9 AM on Monday and they can't get to you until Wednesday between 3 and 6. There are times when they miss appointments and never call to let you know they aren't coming but do call a day or two later to reschedule. And you have to wait 30 days from the beginning of the contract to use their service. That's why you get 13 months for the price of 12. Currently $65 is the price of a service call which is very reasonable but not so reasonable for the disappointment you get along with it.

I feel this company is a rip-off. I requested a policy 3 times. I only received a policy after I made a claim on an appliance that was told was a covered appliance when I purchased the policy, but my claim was denied. I attempted to speak with a case manager who was extremely rude and constantly reminded me I only had 15 minutes to discuss my claim and could not explain why my claim was denied. I asked to speak with someone else and she refused to escalate my claim. She told me she was the highest person in the company. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone. It took over a week to schedule an appointment for an electrician, and the electrician who was scheduled didn't call or answer his phone. He eventually called after my second message and came in the late afternoon. That said, he was excellent (and personable) and resolved my problem quickly. I just wish CHW had scheduled him sooner.

I am not happy with what was offered to "replace my dishwasher " it is $125 less than I can buy one for. Then I have to pay for delivery and installation. You advertise that you will replace if you cannot fix. You should advertise that you will provide 1/2 of what it costs to replace. And on top of all that, I cannot get my claim manager to return my call. I have called her 4 times in the last 3 days and left messages. I spoke with her once and since then I continue to get voice mail and I leave messages with my name, phone number, and claim number, but NO ONE is calling me back. I have planned on adding a second location to my policy, but instead I will not be renewing when my contract is up. I am lloking for a new warranty company

I like the low monthly rate and the relatively low service fees. I also like the quick response to claims. I dislike that they seem to try their best to not cover anything. We don’t feel the coverage and customer service has been satisfactory…but maybe we’re getting what we pay for. Technicians have told us they hate dealing with them also. I also dislike being told the appointment time instead of setting it up with the technician myself. We honestly plan to switch companies in the near future. Possibly pay a little more but for better coverage.

The shut off valve to my ice maker snapped when I tried to turn it off, I called choice homewarranty and they arranged for a plumber to came out, he submitted the claim and of course choice home warranty denied the claim! This of course is the 2nd claim they have denied Is stating due to corrosion on the shut off valve. Is this not why we have home warranty for such things... I asked to speak to a supervisor and had to call multiple times, Finally spoke to a supervisor. She of course said due to corrosion on the shut off valve and it is not covered. I asked her why do I even have home warranty with you people? And her reply was and I quote. "We have paid out a lot more in repairs then you have paid for your policy" I kid you not... This is why they are not paying on claims people... All I hear is excuses!!!

Do not buy a Choice Home Warranty! I had a warranty on my home for 3 years with them. Had a couple claims with moderate success. But then my AC went out. First, the company they connected me with rescheduled 3x. I finally got fed up as it was in the 80s-90s and my 80 yr old mother in law was staying with us. So, I asked Choice to find a new company. They "did". Only to find out that on the day of the appointment (a week later) that the company they "hired" had never even been contacted by Choice. Nor did they even accept Choice Warranty. So, Choice "hired" a 3rd company. The company was a "small appliance repair" company (think Dishwashers, Microwaves, etc.). They were not an HVAC company. Plus, their Better Business Bureau rating was an F. I told Choice that I was not going to let a contractor like that into my home. So, they "hired" a 4th company. This time I called the company to confirm. Guess what? They too had not heard from Choice and did not accept Choice Warranty. So... finally, I gave up and they said I could hire my own contractor. So, I did. They came out the next day and fixed it. The 3 lb system was low about 1lb of freon. Somewhere there was a tiny leak I guess. The contractor called Choice while here to get approval, but Choice takes 24 hours to approve these. So, I had to pay the contractor $500 to fix it and HOPE that Choice paid me back. Guess What? Choice declined the claim. Their reason: They stated that they don't cover "rust". This is lame, because probably every single metal home equipment has some kind of rust if its many years old in Ohio. Plus, the contractor did not state that rust was the issue. There is no visible rust. And, we did not have the line inspected (choice won't pay for that either and it's $1k to do). Net Net: Choice cost me about a month without AC and countless hours on the phone only to leave me with the bill and not pay the claim. Arbitration: Yep. Tried that. Sent letters, called, emailed. That is a farce. Their "arbitration" is a call with their own approval/denial people. There is no unbiased 3rd party that you sit down with to mediate a fair solution. Finally reported them with the State Attorney General (to no avail). Bonus: They still try to contact me to this day to try to get me to renew: Fat Chance!! In my opinion, Choice is fraudulent at best and a scam at worst. Don't waste your money!

Coverage with this warranty is ridiculous. I was denied one claim because the damage was found to be due to “basic wear and tear” and then denied another because it was “NOT due to basic wear and tear.” Then when they do decide to cover an item the amount they give is a joke. It’s not even enough to cover the cost of a new item and it takes 30 days to get your funds.

Most of the parts have been delivered, still waiting on 1 more part before technician can come back to repair my washing machine. Sears is taking forever to find the last part. The technician who came seemed to be competent and thorough, I would like him to come back to finish the job.

Choice Home Warranty (CHW) is a waste of money. I was persuaded to buy a warranty plan for $1960 with service call fee of $65. Then, it is absolutely impossible to get anything repaired or replaced if it costs more than the $65 fee. Their technicians come not trying to diagnose/repair anything, but just collecting the $65 fee; and write a "report" for CHW. Then, CHW tries all means to decline any repair or replacement claims. CHW salesman promised that I could cancel the plan if not satisfied and get refunded for the unused premium. But, canceling is OK, refunding impossible. Recently, my water heater is leaking. CHW technician came not trying to find the leaking part, but asking $65 in cash or check. He said he doesn't accept credit card because many people dispute his charge. Then, CHW tries to decline my claim without finding the leaking part to determine whether it is covered or not. Also, be careful with CHW contract which excludes many major parts. So, I paid CHW $1960 premium and $65 call fee for nothing. I am working with Georgia Consumer Protection and a law firm to fight this scam.

Worse home warrant company I have ever used in my home ownership time. I couldn't get help with my questions during the year. So when my millions of calls to renew came in, I told everyone that called that I was not renewing, and I was re- newed anyways, because I ignored an email that they sent. Now the customer service guy thanked me for my payment, cancelled my policy with no refund and wished me a good day. I have contacted my bank and they said that the can help me dispute the charge as long as I prove that I did not agree to re-new. Now I have to work on getting letters/affidavits to fight this. So the only thing amazing about this company is that they try to get away with this kind of poor customer service.
