I paid my premium and went 10 months before needing to make a claim. My A/C is not cooling. I filed a claim on Monday and CHW sent a guy out to look at it on Wednesday morning. He said I needed freon but needed CHO’s authorization to do the work. He said someone would be in touch with me later that day or the next day. That was over 48 hours ago and I have heard nothing. Adding freon is about the least expensive thing an A/C can possibly need and they can't even do that without making a federal case out of it. And to make matters worse, no one comes to do the work and no one calls me to explain why or when they might come. When I went onto their website to make the claim, I was immediately asked if I wanted to renew. I clicked yes (because I did not yet know how difficult it was going to be to get my A/C serviced). To make matters worse, CHO went ahead and drafted $540 from my account even though my current policy doesn't expire for over two months! Needless to say, I will be looking for another home warranty company and requesting a refund of next year’s premium.

I have 2 claims in. The first one is from February 12th and Im still waiting for my ceiling fan to be repaired. Shaw was out yesterday and ordered parts to fix it. At least we are making progress here. On the other claim, our dryer was making a lot of noise, but still worked. Parts were ordered, arrived, and installed a couple weeks ago. As soon as we used the dryer after the repair it shut down and doesn't work at all now. We are now waiting for the repair to be repaired. It worked before the repair, but was just noisy. After the repair, it doesn't work at all. So far Choice Home Warrenty is batting ZERO and to cap it off has really poor customer service.

I have been a member with Choice since 2018. This is the first and only time I have needed to use my plan. My dishwasher broke a month ago, and I had a service technician come out. He determined it needed a new a motor. Choice said it would be more cost efficient for both them and me to get a replacement. They offer me a Lowes gift card for $246. I schedule an appointment with a claim manager which takes 3 weeks to get a 15 minute conversation. She explains that this is the best they can do. I don’t know on what planet you can buy a dishwasher for $250, but it’s not even close. So in conclusion, I have wasted thousands paying my yearly premium for nothing, my dishwasher has been broke for over a month now, and I still have to come out of pocket about $400 to replace what I already have. I will be cancelling my policy effective immediately and will warn friends and family about this scam of a company.

You sent someone who was filthy as he just crawled out from someone's basement crawlspace...WTF really. Oh and to make the situation worse he doesn't speak because he has a hole in his neck..Unfortunally i don't know sign language.

had CHW over 1.5 years. My washer started leaking & after 5 times out to repair it and multiple times of paying the 65.00 repair fee, (w/ monthly fees, repair fee, could have bought new washer.) also had dishwasher repair, lost part twice, & when it came was wrong part, Then would not replace dishwasher stated part not covered after Senior tech with over 25 years exp ordered it, and said it was a functional part, so I cancelled my policy thinking my washer was finally fixed after 5 different parts, then 40 days pass and washer leaked, called back, told had to get new policy, wait 30 days to file claim, filed claim then denied it for existing issue (which they never fixed in year half of having them but now deny my claim.) If i lied and said it just started leaking they would send out a guy who then would guess again and I would be paying them to not replace it but put a bandaide on it guessing what it might be and not know they did all of that from my past policy so I cancelled my policy again and said I would write a review so everyone knows how they operate, Also, my esclated claim took 2 weeks, and I called my assigned person which stated you dont have to wait in the queue and for faster service call her, I called 5 times and left message which states it will be answered in the order she receives calls, Well Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, left messages, (must have many claims to call cuz she certainly never attempted to call or answer my emails prior to my 2 wk apt scheduled, (so much for faster service and avoiding a que to not wait.) On my call it was another person who called and not the person assigned who did nothing to help, just said unfortantley because it was pre-existing my claim cant be filed, even though their company was the ones I had the pre existing claims with. UNBELIEVABLE. IF this is how you want to waste your money then by all means pay them for horrible warranty coverage. I am upset and sorry i wasted my valuable time and money to not have my washer fixed or replaced by them at all for almost 2 years of having the and signing back up as told by rep to get my washer covered to then not have it covered again. I had to select a rating so it would be a 0 start if i didnt have to select one.

First time filing a claim. Had a toilet that had a small leak due to cracks in the base of the toilet, due to cracks in the water container, due to a defective wax ring seal and due to a leaking shut-off valve. In the contract it states under 13. Plumbing: Covered - Leaks and breaks of water, drain, gas, waste or vent lines - TOILETS AND RELATED MECHANISMS, TOILET WAX RINGS SEALS. Called in for authorization, received a claim number. REJECTED. A day later I had a total failure resulting in literally THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS in water damage that could have been prevented if Choice had honored my policy and allowed me to replace the defective parts.

The best part of Choice is their technology platform, making claims and their sales people. The actual claim itself is complicated. Some of their vendors are less than mediocre and some are exceptional. Some try to take choice clients away because they are disappointed with the way Choice pays their vendors. Also, Choice likes to decline claims, minimize the amount they payout and even validate the lower reimbursement of the broken system. Your are required to battle them, if you don’t, you lose out. however, always resolve things but not to the value of the system. You pay one way or the other. And it is a business and can assure you they make plenty of money too. FYI: Jim M won’t call customers back.

For home appliances, Choice Home Warranty has worked ok for me. Rarely is the service the next day or two, but has been resolved within a reasonable timeframe and no surprises. However, for major home items such as water heater, HVAC, etc I have low confidence in CHW. A simple water heater repair took over a month to get resolved and then only because I did my own contractor and filled all of the forms out myself. At first they assigned a contractor with extremely poor reviews so asked it to be re-assigned. After a solid week of Zero updates, called in and they got someone assigned the next day. That contractor after over another week still never showed up or answered messages. I again contacted CHW and all they did was put it back in the queue and of course after over a week with ZERO updates, no one was assigned. Overall I have called in way too many times, spent my own money to limp along for over a month which could not be recovered, and then still had to do everything myself to submit reimbursement for what ended up being only twice the service charge.

The advertisement that they fix or replace the appliance is a farce. I have a washer that needed repair. The technician came out promptly but said he would have to get authorization to fix the unit. Two days later I received an email with "Congratulations! We are going to replace your washer!" The next email I got was an offer of $547 in gift cards to Lowes. On the Lowes website, the cheapest comparable washer was $899 + tax + delivery and disposal of the old unit. That means I am out at least $471. It took 2 weeks to get a phone conversation, they said take it or leave it. I have been under contract with CHW for 5 years, I will not renew. I asked if they would just fix the unit - they said parts weren't available. Another lie. Readily available locally. As I said, they lost a customer!

Amazing what Choice comes up with. First the garage door claim. Garage door wouldn't open, we tried manual, and wouldn't budge. My wife had work, and I had a doc appt, it needed to be fixed. From a month ago with your agent who told me Choice takes 48 hours on getting someone here to unplug our ugly stinky plugged up toilet... I called our original door installer. I then spoke to agent Regene claiming the door. She said I had to put in a claim, if NO response within 9 hours, I could submit for reimbursement. 10 hours later, that night I called Choice, that agent said I needed to call during business hours the NEXT day. Meantime next morning at 716am I received text and email from Windsor Doors wanting to schedule me for SATURDAY FOUR (4) DAYS LATER! That was yesterday, Dec 7. I had other running around to do before I got to call Choice in the afternoon, and got shuffled over to Quincy in "Claims and Reimbursements". He took my sad story, researched, and came back with "Regene never put anything in the log about reimbursement, so it has to be denied"!! He said there's an avenue to have this happen, Regene should have posted it, sent me an email detailing the process and didn't do ANYTHING except give me that 9 hour window. So his hands were tied. I told him I'd send in a complaint. Meantime the only thing that MAY happen would be Regene would get a talkin' to. I then called Windsor (no answer of course, so left a voicemail), I text a response to THEIR text, which they said was acceptable, to CANCEL a visit. To my surprise this morning???? Choice sends me an email stating Windsor WILL BE OUT TODAY!! Not only that but somehow Choice decided I NEEDED A PLUMBER TOO because I received another email that a plumber is due to arrive today!!! I NEVER PUT IN A PLUMBING CLAIM!! I called AGAIN, spoke to "Shaira", supposedly she cancelled both arrivals. We'll see. So, between this fiasco of confusing information I am NOT responsible for and previous claims I/we are having a hard time hearing "and thank you Mr. Evans for being a valued customer of Choice". Two months waiting for a new ice maker, 48 hours for response (Quincy said it should 24 max for any response), me now stuck with no reimbursement due to Choice agent's lack of knowledge........it's really accumulating. Let me add that when you've asked for reviews previously and I've spent the time? NO RESPONSE from you

I have been with Choice for 5 years. Simple repairs are fine. You better hope replacement is not necessary though because they do NOT replace items like they claim. They offer low settlements which do not come anywhere close to replacement cost. No one would even call me back to discuss the ridiculous offer that was presented. I tried to reach someone for a week. When I finally did speak to a live person they told me their decision was final and I no choice but to accept it or receive nothing. I was not allowed to speak with anyone else. And that I would receive the “buy out” via a Lowe’s GC in 30 days! I’m disappointed that Choice choice to treat me this way. I would not recommend them.

My experience with Choice Warranty has been less than stellar. I am disappointed with Choice Warranty. They had excellent service and took care of their customers in the past. For this reason, we signed up with them for our new home. However, since signing the Choice warranty contract they have not covered any maintenance. They have had issues finding service workers to respond to our needs. I have been utterly disappointed with the service and accountability for the coverage of broken items. Choice Warranty does not cover essential items as suggested in their sales pitch. Such as the water heater reservoir, which is one the most important parts, along with heating elements and some vacuums. Guess what? They do not cover any of those items, only components and circulating pumps. In all, they will never be responsible for replacing any major items because they only cover fixable issues. They do not cover any part of a system that would require replacement if broken. Please read your contracts and be leary of what they will do for you or you will be left broken and disgusted.

Really awful. We were purchasing a new house, and we needed to pick a home warranty company. I called around, and chose Choice Home Warranty because I was told that I could hire my own service people. Bottom Line: While it is technically true that, after much haggling, you can hire your own service people, you will have trouble being reimbursed. Especially if you have multiple issues to be fixed. I ended up being re-imbursed for less than half of my costs. Details, if you want them: Their website only allows you to open claims for which you will receive (or not ever receive) one of their repair people (not of your own choosing). I opened a claim on the website, and they said they were sending someone. The person never arrived though we had waited at home for him. I called the phone number of the repair person that CHW had provided to me, and he said "I don't do work for CHW ... I had considered it, but never actually signed up." Wow. So, they said they were sending someone else. That person was supposed to arrive 5 or 6 different times, and each time we waited for him. Never showed. Another technician was scheduled, with same results. Finally, I updated the case, and asked "How do I get my own plumber"? And, finally, they opened a new, magical kind of ticket where my plumber had to submit his findings and get approval of his repairs. We did all of that. It seemed really mysterious to my plumber, and I warn you that your plumber needs to be tech savvy and patient. My claim was for 3 problems. I got reimbursed for the first 2 repairs. But, for the 3rd repair which was much more expensive ... well, it took longer to be repaired. And, meanwhile, my plumber gave me an invoice for the first 2 repairs, which I submitted to CHW. They paid that, and closed the open ticket that I had with them. Hmmm. I no longer have a ticket. I asked, at that time: How do I get reimbursed for the 3rd item? They said, Open a new Ticket. Later, after gathering the invoices I needed, I did open a new ticket for reimbursement. I didn't get reimbursed. Why? They weren't clear. First, they said, in writing, that it is because I hired my own plumber and didn't get approval for the repairs. But, that isn't true. I had the approval on the claim that they closed. I asked for a manager to call me, and he couldn't clearly tell me why I wasn't getting reimbursed, but he stated firmly that I'm not getting reimbursed. (They didn't even know the cost of the repair. It could be $10 or $10,000. But it is denied. Actually, it was $1,300.) Why was it denied? The manager said that basically, I waited too long after the previous claim was closed to open the new claim asking for reimbursement of the 3rd item. However, he didn't say how long is too long. I repeated that reason back to him on the phone, and he said: "Well, I'm not saying that for sure ...." What? So, it seems they have secret rules about what you must do to get reimbursed. These don't seem to be documented anywhere. I was "too late opening the new claim" after they closed my original claim after they had paid for 2 out of the 3 repairs on the claim. If you use them, good luck. Tread carefully. I will never again use Choice Home Warranty. The entire experience was really a lot of trouble, even when I did get reimbursed. If you have a job, you don't have time to mess with them.

This is the worst Home Warrenty company I’ve ever dealt with. We had a plumbing claim a few months ago and they said they could not find anyone in our area to come out. There are thousands of plumbers in this area. Now we have a dishwasher claim being denied due to abuse. How do you abuse a dishwasher? Your agent said the technician told him that. I talked to the technician and he said he NEVER said that. He said it was normal wear and tear. Your agent lied to me to deny the claim. I am going to try to get this elevated to someone else. The only guarantee is that you will take my money and deny all claims.

A dispute between Choice and the vendor who came to my home and diagnosed the problem with my washer resulted in my having to wait a week and a half for another appointment for a diagnosis…only to be stood up by that vendor. I was then offered and appointment over a week later and then when I complained a further week and a half later. No one told me I could submit the diagnosis rather than the vendor under the Choose Your Vendor program. The dispute between Choice and their vendor resulted in my not having a washing machine for an additional month. I feel that some form of compensation should have been offered and that Choice should have gotten me an appointment much closer to my original date. No effort was made on their part.

Not happy with the determination, sounds too predetermined and a pat answer. If a restriction in the refrigerant line of the HVAC system is automatically considered a contamination of the sealed system and is the result of contaminants or foreign materials in the line and has been decided that this is not normal wear and tear , then this should be in the terms and conditions. This answer was decided too quickly without any time for questions or any response from me, the homeowner or the qualified contractor that CHW sent out to resolve the issue. So far I am not very happy with this CHW. The Contractor, Starr Contractors LLC, however, has been very responsive and competent and I will continue to use them again even if I decide to cancel my contract with CHW!

Cheap deductible but terrible service. Denied my claim for plumbing stoppage and I had to pay 200 out of pocket. I went to cancel my policy and they tried offering me 150 out of 200 put pf pocket expenses back but I said no I just want to cancel. After speaking to the plumber I am not the only one who gets their claims denied and choice home warranty denies many claims. Save your money and go with someone else.

I had a claim filed it took over 60days to get the check. I have had services scheduled an no one calls or shows up. I have had services rescheduled with no notification for my furnace when it was 35 degrees out !! I have had service providers make me pay over 75$ for services. I think CHW needs alot of improving before I would ever recommend them to anyone or buy them again!!

Choice home warranty is the worst. I purchased a warranty through them with a house that I used to own. I have since sold the home and I don't need the warranty anymore. But I get phone calls after phone calls after phone calls after phone calls after phone calls after I've told them numerous times that I don't own the home anymore to stop calling me. You would think that these people or the managers would stop wasting their workers time calling people that don't want the warranty. But somehow they think you're going to break down and buy one just to get rid of the harassing phone calls. Time after qtime after time day after day after day they will call you and they will lie to you I actually have one phone call today telling me that my realtor when I bought the home never paid for the warranty. I get other phone calls telling me that my warranty was about to run out and the warranty ran out 3 months ago. They will tell you anything they will lie to you and if you do purchase their warranty and you decide that you don't want it anymore or you move they will keep calling you until you change your phone number it will never end. No matter how nice you are on the phone to the person they are nice back to you and they will tell you that they'll escalate the request to their superiors. But that's the problem these managers don't care and they don't care about you so please read this review and do not purchase anything from choice home warranty unless you like headaches then I recommend if you do to go ahead and purchase one.

It was good. The vendor assigned to my claim was wonderful. I wish Choice would have covered the entire repair. I could have asked for further review but needed a/c fixed in a timely manner. There could have been a debate regarding normal wear and tear. All in all, claim went smoothly.

Call service came out to repair a job and left. The next day my refrigerator was still leaking water. I called the repair technician and he never answered. I emailed him from the survey but no one responded. I tried calling Choice the automated voice messenger kept sending me back to the start. I then emailed Choice and no one responded. Once I sent Choice an email saying I was a new customer and then I got calls and emails. Once I told the representative that the repair did not fix the issue and he said he will put the job back in under the same job number and I was to call A&E Service to schedule the appointment, I did call but they had no record of what Choice was suppose to have entered. So I called Choice back and of course got a different representative and as I explained to her what had been going on she stated that I would have to pay another $85.00 come out fee for the same issue which was totally opposite then what I was told by another representative an hour ago. Bottom line I felt like I was given the run around just to get over 30 days and have to pay another $85.00 for the same issue is totally ridiculous!!! As if today, a full week later Im still waiting on a call from the service provider I assume!!! Dissatisfied Customer, Mark

My dishwasher finally got fixed today April 2nd It has been out of service since March the 6th Choice home warranty failed at every aspect of getting my appliance repaired First I initiated the claim on March the 6th they were to begin working on a clan within 4 hours . Its hard to tell if they did or not When I filed a claim I was told I would get a call back within 24 hours that did not happen So two days later I called again and customer service said I should not have been told 24 hours it should have been told 24 to 48 hours so I waited another day Nothing happened so I called back they said that someone would call within 24 hours Meanwhile I got an email saying that they're having trouble getting a technician to service my request in a timely manner and would I like to take over this job myself. I looked at their draconian procedure for getting my rermbursed on the repair and decided this looked like it's a trap for me so I declined the offer Next day still no call from Choice Home Warranty So I called again the next day and asked if my claim could be escalated since it had been so long and I have heard nothing I was told that a dishwasher repair is not classified as an emergency repair therefore I would take longer. I reminded them that I found nothing in my policy segregating emergency repairs from non-emergency repairs. I must say that their policy is very cleverly written and does not absolutely commit them to a timely repair under any circumstances. I was told to expect a call within 24 hours I waited a day and nothing happened So, I called the next day and asked how my escalated claim was being serviced They said they had no record of it being escalated, as they told me two days before. So I asked them to please escalate it and forward me to the resolution department I was told that the situation will be absolutely resolved and I should expect to call in 24 hours Nothing happened in 24 hours so I called the next day Finally I got an email from Sears stating that appointment have been set. You would think that they would call so we can coordinate calendars but they did not So of course I changed my calendar to coordinate with theirs since such a long time had taken place The technician was 2 hours late beyond the 8 to 12 appointment window. He showed up a little after 2:00 but was polite and diagnosed the problem Said he was sorry he didn't have the part and he'd have to come back that will be two more weeks The part was shipped to my house and another technician installed it today finally this is over What's so hilarious about this is that during this time frame I received multiple phone calls from choice home warranty asking me if I wanted to renew my policy What do you think I said I will be surprised if this review is read by anyone of significant authority and I doubt if they respond in kind other than saying my goodness we are so sorry I thought choice home warranty was rated number one in the country If this is true I wonder what the experience with the other home warranty companies is Mine was horrible 27 days to install a simple part in a dishwasher is totally unacceptable I guess I have to live with the fact that the dishwasher repair is not classified as an emergency repair according to choice home warranty Well maybe they would like to discuss that with my wife, she has a very different opinion again I bet no one will respond to this and any meaningful way

I've had nothing but trouble with Choice with an ac unit replacement. After 6 months a new unit was installed by one of their "vetted and professional" technicians. Well, 4 months later the unit isn't working. There's zero freon in it, the insulation on the plumbing is falling off, there's no drip pan installed inside in the attic when the plumbing attaches to the furnace, and the company did not follow township regulations and pull a permit. Not surprisingly, neither Choice nor I am able to get a hold of the technician for them to work on it, even though I had a one year labor guarantee with the technician. They only option Choice has offered me is to start a new claim and pay additional co-pays. I've also been told multiple times by Choice that I have maxed out my cap for heating and cooling and they won't be paying for any additional expenses in that functional area. Do not buy a home warranty with this company.

We went 2 weeks without heat using little electric heaters waiting for a technician. By the time Choice finally sent someone out I had made arrangements to buy a new furnace. $6000. You cannot wait that long for heat in Michigan in Winter. Please refund my $45. YOu dropped the ball on this one. I would also request $250. toward my new furnace.

When I signed on 6 years ago they put on a great spell. If we can’t fix it, we’ll replace it. What they didn’t tell you is they will not give fair market value replacement. My washer was only 6 years old and died overnight. The technician was supper and said it would cost too much to fix. Well choice was all happy to offer me $343 for my washer and go buy a new one. Ok, that is not fair market value. Show me where you can buy a washer for $343. The most economical washer I could find, same style and make came up to $771. Yup, I will not recommend anyone to go with this choice warranty company. If I could give a no star review I will.

I feel it's very important buyers should be aware of this company and the frustration, time, and energy they may cause you, so I will bullet point the experience you should expect if you still choose to use their services after this list. *TIME WASTED (I have spent about 36.5 hours on the phone with Choice Warranty for ONE appliance request, which is STILL pending a fix since November 2021) *MONEY (Along with my time, went my money and not having this appliance in my home has to caused more money spend to complete this chore) *FRUSTRATION (The hours spent going round and round with customer service agents and the techs who are supposedly working on a fix) *LIES (From service dates, to costs, to what will and will not be done, it was all lies) *NO COMMUNICATION (They do not let you know if, when, or what is going on with the tech or your work order) Their motto should be... Choice Warranty - Using us would be a Bad Choice!

Dont pay for this UNTIL you have a copy of the contract. What the sales team tells you is NOT what you will get! Even when you have a dishwasher go bad that they cover, they will not replace it, they will offer $200 to replace it..the service rep told me it was 827.00 to replace it. They had no reason just said that was the best offer they could do. After arguring with them for a few weeks they gave me a total of $400. They have more clasues for not paying than you can imagine. They have George Foreman advertising that if they cant fix it they will replace it. That is not true! They did not replace it.

The schedules repair for my refrigerator took 2 weeks. The Tech needs what was wrong 2 minutes but had to order a replacement part and it will take another 2 weeks to install. 4 weeks with out a refrigerator is much to Iong.
