Using the warranty doesn't always fix the problem immediately. It still takes a while to get serviced by a contractor and it seems like some contractors are annoyed by having to work with a warranty company.

Our AC stopped working in July. We had to get a second opinion the contractors came out in September and replaced a part but this did not fix it. American home shield will not contact another company to fix the AC. They keep telling us that since these people are the second opinion we have to wait to hear from this same contractor that we've been waiting on for almost 3 months! We have called the contractor numerous times as well as AHS and here it is late evening September 29, 2022 and the AC is still not working. It has never been repaired. We have been without an air conditioner since July in triple digit Texas heat and the contractors don't care and neither does AHS.

1st Water heater died. Called Home shield, put me on hold for 30min, then disconnected me. Called back, another 15min on hold spoke with someone and they would alert the service provider whch could 24-48hrs before they could call to SET-UP the appointment. 2 Days to wait for a set-up and then how many days to wait for them to get here without a working water heater. We waited 2 days, called back and they said the ticket was cancelled. CANCELLED??? How?? Who/Why??? No information, just it had been canceled. I contacted my own plumber, who swung by that day. Said the water heater needed to be replaced. $1300 (Wh and Inst). I called Home Shield, No help on the bill because it wasn't their repair people. #2 AC Went out, opened up a ticket, within 6hrs, tech was calling to set-up an appoitment. Earliest was going to be on Monday (it was Saturday). Cost was $100... Again more money out my pocket and nothing has been fixed. Repairman gets there. He is pleasant and professional. He diagnosis the issue within about 15min. Its an Electrical issue, breaker. "We don't do electrical, you will need to call home shield." I called Home shield, back in the 24-48hr window to SET-UP an appt thing again. I aid forget it. I called local electrician that was reccomended by a neighbor; $185 to replace the breaker. So the total cost of repair $285 ($100 + $185)...and how much was covered with Home Warranty $ZERO!!!! Terrible management of my expectations, will not renew, will not reccomend. And That is a shame since my wife is a Real Estate Agent

It is very hard, almost impossible to speak to any real human being that you can understand clearly and that you can communicate with that leaves you feeling like they understand or even care about your problem. They all leave you feeling like they tell you exactly what they were trained to say and nothing in the customers favor. There is a major problem from the lowest person all the way through management. They make it impossible to speak to anyone in management or anyone else but the person that answers the phone. I have replaced 5 compressors in 12 years on my A/C but the first 10 years the manufacturer warranties paid for the compressor and I paid for 90% cost of the Freon so AHS kept repairing my A/C . Three months ago AHS had to pay for the compressor replacement because it was out of warranty. It went out last week so they send a company out and the compressor is out again. They come back to me and tell me AHS want to replace not repair the whole outside unit but they suggest me replacing the entire inside and outside unit for the best deal for me and will last longer and better. They tell me AHS will pay pay for part of it, for the part they were responsible for repairing or replacing. The Company gave me a too high of a price so I shopped around and got a company for $2,000 less with better warranty and A/C but the same size. The AHS company said Sll I had to do was ask AHS for customer pay out for the money they were going to use to repair or replace my A/C would be paid to me. I did that and was told my request had to go through approval department. With over 100 degree weather I had my A/C replaced and never heard anything from AHS for days so I call them and the denied my request because they say I upgraded my unit. I didn't upgrade, I replaced with the exact same size unit. I asked to speak to manager but was refused and told someone would call me in 24 to 48 hours. My primary number is my cell phone but the person call me on my home phone when no one was home and leaves the same message the person I had already talked to on the phone told me, that I upgraded so they will not pay anything. It is impossible to get them to understand anything, all I want is the money they would paid to repair or replace whatever they were responsible for. At the price it would have cost them it wouldn't be a large amount of money but they refuse to pay me anything. They charge me almost $100 a month plus $75 copay anytime anyone comes to my house and I have been with them at least 20 years and they treat me this way. It use to be a better company years ago but continues to get worse and more expensive. I wouldn't recommend them to my worse enemy. They don't care a thing about their customers.

I have been with AHS for 18 years and been so happy but my last service Was done by a shotty contractor and they have damaged my kitchen floor and still waiting to get help with it. This company took 2 months to fix my dishwasher and caused a leak that has ruined my floor and I have yet to get help.

Had old unit and was told I had to pay lot of money to help repair. Unit was old and didn't make sense to spend that much money on old unit. Replacement was refused so I had to buy a new unit out of pocket. Used non American Homeshield Company. Another time heater needed replacing. I had to pay over $2000.00 out of pocket for things I was told were not covered.

AHS skirted around my air conditioning problem for several years. By bringing out different contractors they were able to break the law by just having them refill my refrigerant several year in a row at my cost of course. Until they finally had a service come out this year to tell me, without measuring my house, that my unit was too small thus taking AHS off the hook for the ongoing problem. There have been no additions to my house since we moved in 21 years ago.

Some of the contractors that I've been sent to my home have been less than professional. This company works well in major cities but I would not use AHS in any small towns or areas where you are not within at least 30 miles of a major city. They tend to hire the lowest bidding contractor and it shows in the work that they provide.

The plumber finished their work and stated that I would get a call from AHS to make an appointment to patch the wall that the plumber made. They didn't call and when I called they said the issue is closed until they get details from the plumber. This is not the service I've come to expect from AHS.

Failed us both in misrepresenting our problem with the vendor who then came 2 weeks after our request of emergency plumbing issue thus the plumber was not authorized to do the actual problem that we reported. When I called to complain, the pushback was unacceptable and they refused to escalate me to file a proper complaint. More, they told me I would receive a communication within 24 hours. Yeah right, that didn't happen. I did get billed though, and my funds taken from my account without my authorization! And my second call for a complaint... hung up on. Third call... left on hold.... 45 minutes... hung up on. Terrible service, awful customer service. They breached our contract and charged us more. Sadly, this seems to be a common complaint.

The water heater is very and they didn't change it I had to call them many because I didn't have hit water for weeks instead they clean the inside of the water heater and all the dirt and small went up the fustes and shower heads and I had to change but of my restrooms sinks still not working because I couldn't effort it . It's being a really bad experience AHS and now I have problems with my AC almost a month . And I paid $420.00 out of pocket and still not fix . The customer service is the worst today they told me that they were going to call the company and they never did it it took me 3 times if calling them

Very disappointed in customer service to date. AHS sent out a contractor to assess issues with non-working AC unit. Tech was rude, demanding and bullying. Additionally, without making repairs or turning the unit on states Freon is low and will cost $800+ to fill which will not be covered. Requested tech fix the issue, turn on unit and then check Freon level. Our understanding is the unit should be run to accurately assess Freon levels. Tech became even more rude and demeaning and said he had to leave for another job and his supervisor would call. Due to his demeanor and possible scamming behavior I immediately contacted AHS. Was told they need the current contractors estimate and then they could send another contractor for a second opinion. Turnaround should be 48 hours. Now on day 7, no movement, no new contractor assigned, nothing! AC still not not fixed obviously and about to hit 100F again. Very frustrating and disappointing. AHS does NOT advocate for their customers.

On September 3rd, I submitted a case for my garage door that broke and paid my $100 deductible. The rep didn't ask for any additional information regarding the door. The service provider came out the same day, and told me the door would not be covered because it wasn't the motor, it was the springs. As the customer, I didn't know this. I would of saved my $100 and called someone outside of American Homeshield. Not only did I pay $100, but had to pay an additional $249.00. I called and spoke to Julia on September 3rd. She said that the $100.00 would be refunded due to the miscommunication. I've been calling back weekly and given the runaround. Today, September 21st, the representative told me I will not be getting my money back because it was concession. When asked to speak to a supervisor, it was said someone would call me back tomorrow. I've been a faithful paying customer for three years. This service will be CANCELED!

There representatives do not take additional steps to resolve issues.It appears that they go strictly by their script no matter the issue.I'm currently working on an issue that I've been dealing with for four days. As of this email, the issue is still unresolved.When asked to speak with a manager to file a complaint, the representative stated that there is not a process where a customer can speak directly with a manager. I find that very hard to believe.

the plumber they sent immediately said he could not fix my clogged sink or toilet because they were tied together and would have to be snaked from the roof vent and AHS would not cover that. He didn't even look under the sink! I had to pay another plumber to come out. So $125 gone and $225 to the 2nd plumber. The 2nd plumber just snaked the sink and got it fixed. The toilet was a bit more work but no one had to get on the roof.

I have to call all the time just to get service. They don't have any service companies in the area that my rental properties are in. It has taken them 10 days to not get a tech and finally give me authorization for an outside vendor. It took 22 days on another property for authorization on an outside vendor, and I am still waiting on another authorization for another call. I have 5 rentals, 4 are with AHS and it's like I have to talk to them daily just to get something fixed. My rates were all the same last year on all 4 properties, this year they are all different. Everytime I ask to speak to a supervisor they say they will call me within 24 hours. I am still waiting a month later and several calls and emails later. No once calls, emails or has authority to do anything. It is also very frustrating not talking to someone in America, They all talk from a script, and I can just about quote you the entire conversation.

Service calls are typically good. We’ve used them for over a decade, transferring from one home to the next. This time, however, because we are not moving in to the new home for a few months, they wouldn’t allows us to put the account in a suspended or other similar status for a few weeks. Instead, they hit us with a $50 cancellation fee . . . Which is in the contract, but that doesn’t exactly encourage me to sign a new contract when we arrive at the new home.

They keep raising the monthly premiums every time the contract is up for renewal. Also, if they send a vendor to repair something to my property, none of those documents are available to me to view and ask the vendor questions. I have to keep calling the vendors. If American home shield is paying the vendor, then why don't they provide read-only access to the repair company's invoice.

In general easy to request service the issue are the contractors AHS gets sometime are not good. Difficult to contact after something goes wrong with the subcontractor. They stated that the job was done and it wasn't. Tried letting AHS know 2 calls over 20 min. One person good the other not. Still 2 days since called cooktop still not repaired

I have been paying for this insurance for 17 years. I did not have a good experience at all with the replacement of my HVAC! Also, cannot speak to anyone in the U.S. and the person you talk to cannot or has no access to email. A lot of confusion and they don't listen to the customer

Your outsourced phone support is extremely frustrating, took multiple calls and and impossible to get any real assistance or resolution to anything that doesn't follow their script. However, your on-line chat support was great. I wish I had not wasted hours of my day on the phone before trying the chat.

I had an air conditioning technician come out and work on my AC unit. They fixed the problem, but now my unit is having other problems and I called American Home Shield. They promised to assign my case to an air conditioning company and I am yet to hear from them. It is going to two weeks now.

Tech told me the "line was kinked". However, still does not deliver water. He replaced two fans, but not the mother board, which he said was the main issue. Said to call him back. I'm not about calling back; should have been repaired during 1st or 2nd visit.

For the most part AHS was responsive when a claim arose. Wait times on the phone were unacceptable, and sometimes finding authorized service companies in our area was a challenge.

Call centers in the Philippines are awful. It should be called Filipino Homes Shield, not American Home Shield - because all the ignorant foreigners answering the phone or idiots. Also, many of their contractors are substandard they don't fix it right the first time and they take over a week or more to show up for an appointment. When you have a washer, dryer or refrigerator not working this is unacceptable. I had to end up going out and buying new appliances because of the substandard service!
